Amani · 28/11/2007 11:47

mixedmama · 28/11/2007 11:55

Choc - sorry you are not feeling good but hopefully this is it.....

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 12:05

oooh choc - think it is imminent, fingers crossed for you. Can you bounce around to get things going or would that be too sore with your piles? Nipple stim? Really hope s/he comes soon for you..

amani - No I haven't nearly finished - keep having bl**dy babies instead - everyone who I started with has now finished/is finishing which is a bit depressing but as my friend tells me I will soon have two beautiful children which is a far greater achievement than a PhD (and MUCH more fun)

Is anyone else having wierd cravings? I am obsessed with iceberg lettuce atm. Have just polished off a big tupperware tub I brought in of it and wish I had some more - very bizarre - at least it's not bad for me I suppose

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 12:06

I see from another thread that JARM has had a show - she could be next!

mixedmama · 28/11/2007 12:07

I really want to have something to eat but dont know what I fancy. Sort of fancy MCd's but dont even like it really.

Wizzska · 28/11/2007 12:38

Skid, if you can't be a lazy cow now, when can you be?

I'm varnishing my chest of drawers today but got to wait in for a tesco's delivery so can't buy any varnish yet.

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 12:50

no don't think so MM - just a show

Quite right wizzska - i will bask in my laziness - like the idea of a little project like you though... feeling of achievement at the end of the day and all that..

Amani · 28/11/2007 13:23

Just had a lovely presentation of flowers, pampering things and mothercare vouchers.

Wizzska · 28/11/2007 13:37

Amani, that's lovely. I got a couple of outfits for the baby from Gap when I finished work. It was nice of them but I've been given soo many baby clothes I think he'll have a different outfit every day and I'll not have to do any washing, even if his nappies do leak. Nice to get vouchers and something to pamper you.

Skidaddle - wish I could have a craving for something healthy - I hate most fruit/veg at the moment as I resent the heartburn afterwards. Have got some butternut squash so will make soup tonight to try to eat something healthy (OK so I put creme fraiche in it but not that much)

claireybraxtonhicks · 28/11/2007 13:49

Well at least that part of your day was nice Amani! V jealous of you being able to parade your eyebrows just after having them done-I always have to hide for 4 or 5 hours afterwards cos am so red!

Poor you choc, I had awful sickness with dd but luckily only had a couple of weeks of it this time.

Can someone tell me some good things about having a december baby please?! Right now (after getting up several times in night to poorly dd) all I can think of is that it's going to be dark and cold when I have to get up to do all the night feeds/changes, dd is going to pass on all her inevitable toddler coughs and colds to the baby and sitting cosy on the sofa watching films and eating choc isn't going to happen cos dd won't let me!

Amani · 28/11/2007 13:55

Clairyb - good thing about a Dec baby???? at least you're not pregnant in the sweltering heat which is supposed to be more uncomfortable. Isn't it easier to keep baby warm than it is to keep cool??

Right, just got this meeting to get out of the way and done with now and then off home. Can feel temp rising again and nose is running like anything......knew the lurgy would hit me bad just when I am going on mat leave....

suey2 · 28/11/2007 14:02

second that amani! have just been on a tour of the labour ward and felt so dizzy that i had to lie down. Sooo hot in there- DH has decided to take shorts and a linen shirt for labour- that hospital bag just keeps getting bigger!

claireybraxtonhicks · 28/11/2007 14:07

Actually yes-thanks! I do remember being v paranoid about dd overheating when she was born (was actually a hot summer then too!).
Also at least this baby will get to wear all it's outfits (and hopefully more than once each). DD mostly just wore a nappy or nappy and vest and was a real effort to get all the clothes worn!

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 14:08

hope you feel better soon amani - nice lazy day tomorrow should help, esp with all your new pampering products

clairey - have been thinking about that too - DD was an autumn/winter baby which was fine because sitting inside feeding all the time was quite cosy but as you say not really option with a toddler in tow. I didn't find nighttime feeds too bad though - think bf-ing makes you really hot anyway and I used to sit for an hour or so and not get too cold. The way I'm looking at it is - the first three months are going to be a nightmare anyway so we might as well do it in winter - at least then when we emerge from the madness it will be springtime!

housemum - mmm butternut squash soup sounds nice... I have been freakishly healthy recently and have even turned down offers of chocolate! this is what I've eaten so-far today:
porrige with a banana and raisins
glass of innocent
2 apples
grapes
2 satsumas
1 pear
big tub of lettuce (no dressing)
turkey sandwich (with extra lettuce)

almost unhealthy in its healthiness - don't know what's wrong with me!!

claireybraxtonhicks · 28/11/2007 14:09

Just took baby clothes off airer and they are all crunchy from being dried indoors Might actually have to iron them! Although as I don't ever plan to iron them again maybe I shouldn't get the baby used to soft clothes ;)

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 14:09

suey - those labour wards are unbearable aren't they? And no windows - drive me mad..

claireybraxtonhicks · 28/11/2007 14:13

Oh my god Skid! Can you pass some of that healthiness over here?!
I have eaten
Bowl of rice crispies (not even my usual weetabix)
Pack of chocolate fingers (I don't do things by halves!)
Marmite and philly sandwich
6 Cadburys roses (all that was left)
1/5 tub of pringles (again, all that was left)

My poor baby won't be getting any nutrients!

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 14:16

lol clairey - now that was similar to my diet a few weeks ago - I dont know what's happened! Maybe it's sign of impending labour [wishful thinking meotion]

suey2 · 28/11/2007 14:17

birthing pool looked nice, though DH thought it was pretty claustrophobic.

I have had 2 bits of peanut butter on toast, 1 cup of raspberry leaf tea, 2 pints of water, an innocent juicy, a chai tea latte and am just about to go for lunch.

I am eating a huge amount of fruit- probably 3 or 4 pieces a day! Avoiding the citrus though - bad heartburn, too
