snigger at Cbeebies video
It's a palm tree isn't it

Chocpeanut - wow you really are suffering for this baby! Don't worry when it turns into miserable grumpy teenager you can guilt trip them by telling them how you went through hell to have them!
Hope the ice lollies help and you lo comes soon. Good to hear your kitchen is nearly finished, you must be relieved!

I bought a coorie and carry off a fellow MNer, but you can buy them from Freedom Slings on ebay.

Amani · 28/11/2007 08:25

on=one

insywinsyspider · 28/11/2007 08:42

morning

ambi, pecka - I got the baba sling, been using it with ds and so far so good, dh practised with niece the other day (17 wks old) and had more success than me because didn't have a huge bump in way!

dug out some RL tablets, don't think I could face drinking that much tea!

chocp - how are you feeling today?

amani - I don't finish till tomorrow and the temptation just to phone in sick is so strong

buzzybee · 28/11/2007 09:07

Didn't have a birthpool last time as had homebirth in a flat on the third floor so not an option - BUT did spend the first 10 hours of labour in and out of the bath in our flat and that was the only thing that really helped me apart from H giving me the odd massage. SOOO defnitely recommend it.

At the hospital I'm going to they have 2 birthing suites with inbuilt pools and another delivery room with an "ensuite" bath-room (i.e. with bath not shower) so fingers crossed I should have a fair chance of using one of those. Reminds me though I must throw into my hospital bag a couple of old T-shirts to wear in the bath - won't be at home and happy to be in the nude this time!!

Chocpeanut, really hope the end is in sight for you. Makes all my little niggles and pains seem so trivial.

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 09:23

Morning all

chocpeanut - that must be so reassuring that whatever happens this time next week it will all be over and you'll have alittle baby peanut. You really have been through the mill with this pg - you must REALLY love babies!!

amani - congrats and at your last day of work. Has your mat cover finally got the hang of things now - hope you'll still be on mn at home too? One of the reasons I still come in to work so often is that we have rubbish dial-up at home and I dn;t get to read all hte new messages quick enough!

buzzy - your delivery suite sounds very fancy - would love to use a birthing pool but there aren't any at our hospital

cazzybabs - what a nightmare about your bp and the homebirth. How high is your bp? I am the same as you I think - low bp usaually which goes up at the very end of pg which is the main reason I wasn't allowed a hb last time (bp was only 90/130 but it is usually 50/90 so it was a big increase). But I also had a low platelet count so they really wanted me to go in. In the end it was probaby a good thing because I had a PPH but it still makes me sad that I won't have a hb. It is a very difficult decision but I suppose you can see what your bp is when you actually go into labour, see what your mw advises and then make your own decision about what to do. And lots of rest and relaxing to try and keep your bp down of course...

cazzybabs · 28/11/2007 09:31

My blood pressure is now 150/90, but that was after a day of stress, running around and generally being very active...it has been 140/90...but it does start off at 130/80. Anyway..there is nothing I can do about it either way!

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 09:35

oops I got mine the wrong way round, didn't I?
how long until you have to decide?

loucee · 28/11/2007 09:40

Morning

Amani - Happy last day at work! Hope you can just chill out today and relax to gently ease you into maternity leave.

Chocpeanut - that's really exciting hearing that this time next wk it'll all be over and we'll be reading your birth announcement (word to everyone, having a newborn and recovering from birth is NO excuse to not post just as frequently )

Going to my last aquanatal today, next week I'll miss it due to cut and colour (hair) and week after DD's hours change at the childminder in preparation of baby's arrival so wont have childchair and then I'm at my due date and I know my swimming costume just wont fit as it's getting hideous now!

Who was it that didn't have the GAP voucher? It's 30% off so well worth it if you shop there. If anyone wants it let me know and I'll CAT you the details.

mellymooks · 28/11/2007 10:01

Morning Everyone!

Chocp - you poor thing sounds so rubbish, at least there is an end in sight, get the arnica gel ready it's meant to work wonders! (keep in fridge then really soothing when you apply).

Seeing MW today for 38+5 check, hoping all will be ok and that she'll still be happy with plans for HB.

Picked up leaflet yesterday about all the different benefits available - i just tried to read it, now i don't know if it's my pregnancy brain or not but i feel completely lost and confused!! Someone the other day said we should try and get forms and stuff before baby arrives so it's all easier afterwards..... anyone got any useful insights/tips for this first timer would be greatly received.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 28/11/2007 10:02

Choc poor you with hyperemisis, my WORST nightmare. Nearly over now.......

I am considering the Close Baby Carrier (the one from bringing up baby on C4). For the school run I want to be able to wrap her tightly to me and wear her under my coat! Our playground is SO cold and windy!

loucee · 28/11/2007 10:10

Pecka - someone on here has the Close Baby Carrier I'm sure. It looks great and very secure but I've already got 3 slings so couldn't justify another.

I need to go shopping for a winter coat, want a waterproof one to knee if possible with a hood! Hoping I can fit in it soon after birth so might have to get a roomy one. Has anyone bought one recently?

Amani · 28/11/2007 10:58

Skid - so much for a relaxing last day - been dragged from one meeting to another. If I am that important surely they should pay me more?? . As for my maternity cover I do have my doubts, but I've tried my best to train her up as fully as possible. Not my fault the Faculty that I work for are working to budgets and didn't want to recruit someone with the specific skills, but chose an internal candidate instead. Yes I still will be logging on from time to time at home.

I wonder who will have the first baby in December?

Cazzybabes - Defo take it easy and rest to get that BP down.

Loucee - planning on spending more at GAP this weekend too . Am going to getting my hair coloured tomorrow too. Am naturally a brunette but being adventurous and going for a more reddy shade .

mixedmama · 28/11/2007 11:00

Morning all,

Back at work today but feel quite crappy so may go home early... was going to stay with DH and ride around in the van all day but he then pointedd out that we couldnt stop or toilet breaks all day.

Feels so pointless being here, esp since we are overstaffed and they dont need me and I dont want to be here.... might just go home and be off.

mixedmama · 28/11/2007 11:01

Oh I got those GAP vouchers as well... I havee used them before. Great value.

loucee · 28/11/2007 11:07

Oh and if anyone shops on Lakeland website - if you spend £25 you can use code DW-1 and get £10 off.

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 11:11

loucee - could you CAT me the details of the GAP vouchers?

MM - sorry you're feeling rubbish - are you going home?

amani - what a horrible last day - at least you will appreciate your first day off tomorrow even more..

mixedmama · 28/11/2007 11:18

dunno... even making my way home seems like too much effort... might text hubby and see if he is around anytime today and then leave, then i can just drive around with him. so fed up.

Amani · 28/11/2007 11:27

Skid - so looking forward to tomorrow.

Plans are:

*Wake up late
*Get hair coloured and cut
*Watch TV
*Eat lasagne for lunch
*Afternoon nap
*MAYBE a little housework
*Pick DD up from nursery and spend a nice evening with her.

mixedmama · 28/11/2007 11:28

Sounds like such a good plan Amani.

Amani · 28/11/2007 11:30

MM - Hope you are better, although driving around in your DH van all day doesn't sound too thrilling. Can't he just drop you home so you can put your feet up?

loucee · 28/11/2007 11:31

Skidaddle, just sent a CAT to you, hope you receive it (sent 3 so far since signing up for it but each of the ladies haven't received them!). Let me know if it doesn't arrive. I believe it should go to the email address you use when you sign up to mumsnet.

Amani - like your plan for tomorrow. Hmm think I'll make lasagne for dinner tonight. Stinking cold and sore throat has made me just want even more ice lollies but you've swayed me!

mixedmama · 28/11/2007 11:33

It is a bit of a palava to go all the way home, since he is working. I think i am more fed up than anything. Just cant be bothered to be here.

Amani · 28/11/2007 11:40

MM - think you have that 'last week at work' feeling that I had. Needed double effort to motivate myself to do the simpliest task.

Chin up only 2.5 days left!!

skidaddle · 28/11/2007 11:40

thanks loucee - I haven't got it yet - would it take a while?

MM - could you think of something nice to do instead of going home? Go to the cinema? meet a friend for lunch? Bit of shopping? Go and pisk up your DS or go round and see your parents?

amani - wow that is quite a busy day! I have DD all day tomorrow and my plan is:

sleep in as long as she will let me
hang around the house all morning with minimal activity (excuse = waiting for a delivery)
see the mw at 2pm
meet a friend to celebrate her handing in her PhD thesis at 3pm
go home and put my feet up while DH makes my dinner and puts DD to bed!!
What do you mean I'm a lazy cow?!
