Hello everyone. Will you come and join me?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mellymooks · 23/11/2007 18:32

Ah Beckle you've just brought tears to my eyes, It's hard having absent people there isnt it? Esp. when you know what great pride and love they would have had for your LO's. I'm really feeling the fact my Dad is not here to meet my Lo as I know what a fantastic Grandad he would have made. My Mum is excited but lives quite a way away so she won't see LO that often. I'm v. lucky that my in-laws are around and both so excited about their first granchild.
I too would be lost without MN these days it has become an amazing comfort and support.
Love and hugs everyone

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 23/11/2007 18:33

Yes mumsnet folk are wonderful

i will second that
xxx

suey2 · 23/11/2007 18:36

this is all wonderful- eyes pricking anyone? What are we all like! Pregnancy hormones abound.

becklebigbump · 23/11/2007 18:37

I did not realise you had lost your Mum too Choc but I am sure she is looking after your DD. I saw a Medium last year and she told me that I had just lost my Mum and my baby and that Mum was holding him. They would have both died within a day or 2 of each other and it is reassuring to know that my lost LOs have a whole family to take care of them.

Mellymooks, your poor Mum, how sad that she has not been able to completely move on. Sounds like she (and the rest of your family) are very lucky to have you but I think you are right about keeping out of it this time. You will need all your energies for yourself in the weeks to come!

mellymooks · 23/11/2007 18:38

Listen to us - we are feeling that heady emotional mix by the looks of it as we prepare for this momentous experience we're about to embark on.
Soon our LO's will be here - we are so lucky to have this experience and to have been blessed with this opportunity - I just hope I can do it and be a good Mum

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 23/11/2007 18:39

yes i am weeping a bit

lot of love about tonight

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 23/11/2007 18:40

melly

you will be a brill mum, we all will be

very soon (i hope)...

becklebigbump · 23/11/2007 18:40

Mumsnet is marvellous, I wish I'd found it years ago as although I don't actually know you all in RL, you feel like a real support group to me.

It is great to have a group of people who you can chat to and be as light hearted or deep as you feel (and where nothing is really TMI!)

becklebigbump · 23/11/2007 18:41

Melly, you sound like a wonderful daughter and you will be a fab Mum too.

Have also had a little sniffle myself just now, sorry guys.

mellymooks · 23/11/2007 18:43

Thank you for your kind words!! We really are a soppy bunch tonight!! I can just see us all sat in our various homes sending these big vibes of love and good wishes to each other!!

mellymooks · 23/11/2007 19:47

Where did everyone go? didn't mean to scare people off with sentimentality!!

Not got much planned for wkd, just making most of spending time the two of us. Got some friends coming for dinner Sat. night that's about it!

insywinsyspider · 23/11/2007 20:05

Fifi ? not sure if anyone answered your question but we discussed cs at antenatal this week ? teacher said that epidural and spinal block are done in different places of the spine so spinal will give you better coverage and quicker, think she said epi could be topped up but would take longer to give you complete numbness, guess there is no need for that if elective

Great news about the scan skid x

Melly ? not heard that you shouldn?t have young children over just it might be too much ? I was a mess for about 6 wks whilst I adjusted, you kind of expect no sleep but its difficult when the reality of it sets in

Ooohh then it got all sentimental and I know what my hormones are like so I stopped reading sorry but anything sad I just cry (and panic!) hope you?re all doing ok

I?ve had lovely day with ds ? we do a music group on fri morning and he?s just starting to get it and join in, he was so cute dancing today. We then went to a toddler group in the afternoon and he blew everyone kisses when he left, he?s been lovely this week, makes me realise how lucky I am to have him.
Right off to do some jobs and sent dh to build a chest of draws before he leaves! Hope you all have a good weekend ? I?ve got friends staying, I love them loads but now thinking what have I done! Will be getting take out!

becklebigbump · 23/11/2007 20:47

You didn't scare me off Melly! DH came home so had to sort his dinner and then get DSs to bed!

Insy, I think we're all fine, I know I am. I just have little wobbles sometimes and it is nice to know I am not alone.

Your DS sounds a real little treasure BTW! Mine have been awfully behaved today! DS1 just shouts and screams at his brother all the time at the moment and also answers me back - he is well aware that there is not much I can do to stop him at the moment! DS2 is mostly lovely but he has his moments too and is more likely to misbehave/completely ignore me when DS1 is around - sigh... Am hoping it is a phase that DS1 is going through and am waiting for him to come out of it - earlier this year it was DS2 making me tear my hair out and DS1 who was being lovely!

Never mind, I am still very grateful to have them and there are so many special moments that it makes the hard ones worth it!

mellymooks · 23/11/2007 21:09

That's ok then!
Keep getting slight twinges low in my belly and also in my boobs would really like to think it maybe the start of it all but it's probably just more practice twinges!

mememummy · 23/11/2007 21:26

hi every1, god uve been chatty! spent the day wandering round doing xmas shopping and such like, but a now shatered so i in bed about to scream down for dh to bring me a drink lol, wat a lazy mare!!

bought some clary sage going to have a bath with it in on weds after panto, cuz baby is free to arrive anytime from then onwards.

ther has just been a neuro virus outbreak at my two local hosps nd they are pushing 6 hr discharge and no visitors sept on labour ward, i no ive made the right choice for me by going to hosp but im scared i dont want me or baby to catch anythin, but i spos ther is a risk whatever you do?

cazzybabs · 23/11/2007 22:37

mememummy - i am sure if there was a really really serious risk they would close the hospital...however you must decide the risks. Is there someone you can talk to about it?

I am feeling ill today - full of cold. dd2 is also full of cold again!

I still have lots to do for the school's Chrsitmas show - hope this baby is not planning on coming in the next 7 days...although dh (bless him) has typed up the programme for me!

loucee · 23/11/2007 22:49

To those of you that have lost your parents ((hugs)) I had no idea. Suey, hope your Dad does get to see his grandchild and that your Mum is coping well.

Cazzy - sorry you're feeling rough as well, I'm eating satsumas like they're make of chocolate! seems to be helping a bit.

Yay. DH has agreed to free up the boxroom for the baby so we'll be decorating this weekend. Seems ridiculous to me now that we didn't think of this before - just shows what hormones do!

macdoodle · 23/11/2007 22:50

Braxton hicks oooh ouch ..baby cannot come early bag not packed room not ready tooo much to do ....

loucee · 23/11/2007 23:52

loucee · 24/11/2007 09:22

Congratulations theLady and TL's OH!! Hope everything is going well and that tL is comfortable.

Did I miss theLady being in labour? Amazing how one day you see messages and the next is a birth announcement!

Macdoodle, yeah sounds like you need to get a bag packed - even if this is a false alarm it's a reminder it's just round the corner!

Decided to make a Christmas Pudding apparently its the tradtiona day to do it tomorrow.

loucee · 24/11/2007 09:23

oh just thought, we need a post natal thread now

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 10:23

Hey girlies!

Congrats to theLady on the birth of baby Frances!

Just thought i'd crash this thread too, if i may!

I'm due on 27th November and normally hang out on the November thread. No signs of baby appearing yet and am due for a sweep on Friday so thought i'd hang out here too if you dont mind!

For stat purposes, i have one DS and am expecting a girl.

Hope you are all well! Not long to go now ladies!
