Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Welcome RGpargy!

Congrats thelady!! How exciting it's really starting to happen, getting very excited now!!

Macdoodle sounds like you're def. warming up for the big event or even about to begin it!!!

I'm still getting intermittent twinges but nothing more, anyone else finding it increasingly difficult to get off sofa without help? I have developed a roll and slide movement. (glad we have a leather sofa as it helps with the slide bit!!)

fifisworld · 24/11/2007 11:03

Congratulations Thelady

I wish it was me

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 11:16

Ah the good ol' roll and slide method. I know it only too well (and i have a leather sofa too!). Getting out of bed however needs the roll and push up method.

claraquitebignow · 24/11/2007 11:23

Wow congratulations theLady - I was only looking at your bump picture yesterday and now here it is! I am assuming (hopefulyl not wrongly) that Frances is a girl as I believe that it would be Francis for a boy? Anyway whichever way that's a lovely name. Hope you are getting on ok with everything.

Mellymooks - I think you mentioned yesterday something about not having other people's children in the house too soon after the birth. Well apart from all the practicalities, I can actually see where your m/w is coming from. When dd was about 2 weeks old her cousin (who was 18 months) came to see us and passed on a cold. So not only did we have a collicky baby, we also had a cold-y baby. Which was probably the low point!!!

thelady · 24/11/2007 12:16

You didn't miss the Lady being in labour - it started at 3am on Friday and lasted until 10pm when it was decided to have an emergency caesarian. The baby was OP and could not turn round. Because she was hoping to go back in the pool, she refused pain relief except for gas and air. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to offer much pain relief in the later stages and L was in considerable pain as well as being utterly exhausted. Also the baby was showing signs of distress. Once the decision was made the process was extremely quick with little Frances making her grand entrance at 23.20.
Weight 4.04Kg (8lb 14oz) Length 53cms

mellymooks · 24/11/2007 14:12

Thanks Clara I think that's totally where mw is coming from with the whole thing, whether we'll actually manage to implement it could be rather more tricky....ah the joys of families!
Just been out shopping and now feel totally knackered think I feel an afternoon kip coming on!

loucee · 24/11/2007 16:48

thanks theLady's OH for posting the details, congratulations once again. Are you able to spend much time with L and Frances?

Welcome RGPargy, hope your little one makes an appearance soon.

Totally fed up with DH today. I got up with DD and was planning on going to get paint for the nursery but when he got up wanted to go into Town so off we went in the howling wind and rain, DD had early short nap so missed long afternoon one and he's up there banging and huffing now moving his gear into the spare room so baby has a nursery. I know it's my hormones but I'm so fed up!

loucee · 24/11/2007 16:56

Oh ok all is forgiven DH has just brought me in a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows

Shells · 24/11/2007 16:59

Congratulations TL. How lovely that you have your baby. I'm hoping mine is early (due 6th) as the leg pain at night (aggravated by long standing back pain) is really getting me down. Just can't sleep. And now worried its going to make labour even more painful. Has anyone considered a tens machine?

On the subject of visitors - you first timers must be strong! I remember having several, very well-meaning visitors who just wouldn't leave. And I was so tired, and not able to converse much. The worst culprits were child-free, work colleagues who came to relate long tales of work politics. And I just couldn't care less at that stage! Get your DHs to say on the phone - it would be lovely if you popped in for an hour between x and x hours.

mellymooks · 24/11/2007 17:16

Thanks Shells I'll take that on board. I know what you mean i really hope this one is early I'm due 7th but I'm so tired now and backache getting worse and just gen feel like a beached whale and feel ready to just get on with it all and most of all meet this little person!!
I've booked a tens machine, my sis used one in both her labours and said it was fab. i know some people find it doesn't make much difference but I'm gonna give it a go and if it helps - great if not I've only lost £15 hire charge.....

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 24/11/2007 18:45

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 18:56

Choc - Agree!! i'm due on tuesday and it's really tough!

Housemum · 24/11/2007 20:15

Congratulations to The Lady - it's all seeming very close now...

Housemum · 24/11/2007 20:18

For the babies, a new thread - December babies here already!

macdoodle · 24/11/2007 20:28

Reassure me please..really really uncomfortable sharp stabbing pains low down ...not braxton hicks not movements..plenty other movements ...
My mum is here and she is BLOODY hard work have probably done too much today she is no help at all...have run DD around this morning, cleaned house, shopped for food, had to clear out spare room which was full of baby stuff for mum to sleep in, cooked dinner washed up....she has done nothing other than bring her smelly dog..and now SHE is snoring on setee while I gear myself up for putting DD to bed but no energy at all..
Feeling bit panicky about pain ...not sure what it is and definitely do not want to have this baby while my useless mother is here

buzzybee · 24/11/2007 21:02

macdoodle - ring your MW or another helpline IMO. That sounds a bit diff from regular BH. Could be just ligament stretching in yr pelvis but best to be sure! I know you're not due for another month but LO may not know that...

PeckaRolloverAgain · 24/11/2007 21:19

Wow! Congrats thelady! Brilliant news

Im so excited but still have ages to go (due 26th)

I was standing up before and felt a pop and big pain, thought my waters were going to go but it must have just been a head butt to my cervix!!

I havent been very active on this thread but read every message every day! seems like YEARS ago when I was posting how worried I was that I had miscarried!

Which names do you like the best out of Matilda, Martha, Celest and Eva? Think this is our shortlist!

Ambi · 24/11/2007 21:22

Hey CONGRATULATIONS thelady, my due date buddy (no longer) hope you and frances are doing really well.

Hi rg, been reading the due in nov thread gearing myself up for the Mexican wave of babies flooding the Nov, plus so exciting to read the almost daily birth announcements.

buzzybee · 24/11/2007 21:22

My favs are Matilda and Eva. But that's because I like Mattie and Evie as nicknames p

Think I've settled on Beatrix Amelia.

Nice to see you back again Pecka!

mellymooks · 24/11/2007 21:40

Pecka - like them all but think there are probably fewer Celest's and Martha's around than Matilda's or Eva's so personally I would be tempted to go with the either of the first two, just cause I would want to try and avoid my LO being one of say 5 Eva's in her classroom!!

But they are all lovely pretty names, it's so hard to decide - maybe you'll have to wait to meet her - she may def. look like one of the names and totally not suit one of the others....

Macdoodle sounds like you've been rushing about far too much today and your body is warning you that you need to stop and rest up, I would def. call mw for reassurance also just incase your LO is thinking of putting in an early appearance -- try and get some rest tomorrow if you can.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 24/11/2007 21:50

Macdoodle, I thought I was going into labour last weekend as I had a girly weekend in london which involved FAR too much walking and rushing around and no rest! Starting having pains, twinges and dodgy tummy!

Take it easy xxx

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 21:51

Pecka - I love the name Eva!

Ambi - Hiya! The November babies are starting to trickle out now (for want of a better phrase!). I think there have been more births than our list shows because of alot of girls not posting very much etc. I cant believe it's nearly the end of November already!!! Wowsers, where has the time gone?!!!

Lots of BHs here today. Hopefully it's building up to something, but i'm not holding my breath!

JARM · 24/11/2007 21:59

Hey all,

guess i had better check in here too - cant see this being a november baby despite doing all i can to get this boy moving!

Hope you are all ok, and CONGRATS to thelady!

This really is the pits though - the last few days are such a dissapointment!!! Roll on latest 10th december!!!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 24/11/2007 22:20

JARM and RGPargy, Ive been reading November too and looking out for your announcements!

Im SO hoping I wont be late this time, but I bet I am - was nearly 2 weeks late with both the other 2 and induced.

All I want for christmas is to go into labour on my own!

RGPargy · 24/11/2007 22:28

Keeping everything crossed for you Pecka!!
