Hello everyone. Will you come and join me?

Morning everyone....

Glad everyone sounds relatively upbeat this morning. I just rolled into work a little while ago, my committment is seriously waning.

On the subject of boy / girl convos. We have told everyone LO is a boy anyway, which should be fab news for DH family as they are very pro-boys, girl discussions are always slightly negative for first babies or people who already have a girl. However, it grates on them slightly that it should be their DIL who is having all the boys. Will be an interesting scenario should my newly married SILs produce little girls. Hahaha sorry evil moment. FWIW my dad and mum did both say never mind when I told them we were having another boy altho my dad is secretly pleased as boys are good int Turkish culture as well. i am looking forward to having my boys, DS is already very protective of me and i love it. He already runss over if DH is picking on me (playing of course) and pushes him away from me and shouts at him and I love it.

Amani · 22/11/2007 11:43

Bit quiet over here this morning

Itchy boobs day today, keep need to go to the ladies for a good scratch.

mixedmama · 22/11/2007 11:57

I am so bored Amani, it is just silly.

becklebigbump · 22/11/2007 11:58

Bouncing, your poor feet, sounds sore! Hopefully it will go away after LO is born, pregnancy does some very odd things to our bodies!

Macdoodle, your poor DD! I think you are right to let her go have fun this afternoon, especially as she was so good this morning.

Dundee, phew! So pleased to hear your appt went so well! Grr that you had to have all that worry over the last few days though. I agree that the support on MN is a complete lifesaver at times, glad it helped you.

Chocolate, I can't believe the builders have the front to charge you extra when they have taken so long to get stuff done! Bless your Dad though, you are very lucky to have him. Sorry to hear you lost your Mum though, I lost mine last year and still really miss her, especially at the moment. Pains sound like something may be starting off/getting ready! Hope LO stays in for a few more days for you though.

Insy, I am sat here giggling at the thought of you breathing through a BH in front of a room of panicked men! Hehehe!

Seems that lots of us are getting twinges and aches and stuff now! It's nearly our month girls! I was getting lots of nice regularish BHs last night, probably 10 mins or so apart for most of the evening. I remember I started getting them in regular bursts with DS2 around 3-4 weeks before he was born - hopefully that means this LO won't be late (although this pg has been so different from the other 2 I don't honestly expect anything to be the same).

Picked up my lovely hernia support belt yesterday but I can't wear it! It has a really hard pad to push and hold the hernia in but it is more sore (possibly as is pushing on baby's head too?) than the hernia itself! And I can't sit down in it as it squashes bump and there are some bits on the front which dig both into thighs and belly. It should sit round the waist but as I don't have one at the moment that is a bit of a problem!

becklebigbump · 22/11/2007 12:00

Think my bump has dropped a little too! Still got a flat bit underneath it though.

Wizzska · 22/11/2007 12:04

Morning everyone. Poor you Beckle - can you get one of those bump support thingies instead of a hernia support thingy. Perhaps it would be more comfy in the circumstances.

My DH never bothered with a hernia support and his was the size of a tennis ball by the end. He kept pushing it back in and it would sound like a baby crocodile. It was always a good early warning system for his farts though - you'd hear them before they were ready to come out.

Sorry Beckle - but you have to look on the bright side.

Got my bags all packed for hospital if the hb doesn't go to plan. Got all the kit ready just in case. Feeling virtuous. Just over a week to go!!

OP posts:
suey2 · 22/11/2007 12:07

poor you beckle! That seems remarkably short sighted of them. One thing i would really try and avoid is any straining (eg loo) or lifting. And if you get a BH- push hard where the hernia is to try and stop it getting any bigger- sounds like a licence for a lots of resting!

becklebigbump · 22/11/2007 12:45

You are right about looking on the bright side of it Wizz, I keep giggling about it all! Will speak to the MW next week and see what she suggests. Mine is probably the size of a 50p round so doesn't sound too large.

Suey, doc did say he didn't know if the belt would work or not, he'd never seen one on a pg woman before! I like the idea of resting . DH came home from work last night fussing about it, I reckon he had done some research cos he wasn't that fussed on Tues when I found out. Now he's even saying I shouldn't lift the hoover over the threshold of the conservatory! Just over a week for you! You must be so excited! Really hope you get your HB!

Was last night at work last night and felt very very strange to walk out of there knowing it would be a while before I was back! Got another week (and a day) of daytime job left to get through and then MAT LEAVE! Am so ready for it now. Am planning on gutting out the kitchen in the day or 2 and then putting my feet up for the next few weeks! Still got a way to go to finish LO's blanked so that will be my project I think!

becklebigbump · 22/11/2007 12:46

Sorry, HB bit was meant for Wizz! Silly pg brain not working today at all!

claraquitebignow · 22/11/2007 13:32

No no no no no to ironing babygros and vests - don't even go down that route! The last thing you want to be doing is endless rounds of ironing when you have a newborn in the house, you should be resting when you aren't looking after it (or looking after other children/dh etc!). And NO-ONE will care if your babygro is not ironed in neat little creases...

Anyway apart from that hope you're all well, I feel remarkably normal for someone with a life-sized blimp sticking out in front of me, although like others have been getting period type pains and am sick of people asking if I've given birth yet!

Amani · 22/11/2007 14:00

claraq - hope u are well too.

Just bored at work as I have handed everything over to mat cover and just got bits and bobs to sort out and nothing mega to keep me going until next Wednesday.

Gosh, hate being bored because then I eat loads as I have nothing else to do.........

Amani · 22/11/2007 14:02

whoopppsss...copy and paste error:

claraq - hope u are well too. Just getting the itchiness and back aches today...

thelady · 22/11/2007 14:03

Well, that's 9 pages caught up on since Monday night when I last logged in!

Great news Dundee, Suey and Buzzy....

Ironing - if it's creased and won't come uncreased by being folded and put at the bottom of the pile of clothing then I will consider ironing. Anything stretchy is, by definition, not for ironing in this household!

Had a CTG trace on Tues at the hospital to keep the consultant happy - 38 weeks but they were getting twitchy about the size and potential strain on placenta. LO was moving so much it sounded like when the upstairs flat decides to rearrange their dining room . Suddenly the medics are believing me when I say this is a wiggly baby tho' why it had to take 40 mins of being strapped to a machine I don't know. LO was moving so much the machine kept losing the heartbeat trace!

Still no signs of being engaged, drat and blast, but proper BH for the first time yesterday and today. I can feel the head bumping around the brim of my pelvis, but definitely not dropping.

Thank goodness they're not pushing for induction at 40 weeks on the dot any more - I was really getting stressed about that. More CTG and a 'liquor volume measurement' next Tues, whatever that is, and then we'll see. I'll only be 39 weeks by then, so should be OK to wait for things to get going on their own.

Now if I could only get my feet and legs to deflate a bit.

thelady · 22/11/2007 14:04

Oh - and I've uploaded a pic of me at 38 weeks too.

loucee · 22/11/2007 14:07

Hi everyone

Is a lot quieter on here today, it always makes me wonder if anyone is having their baby if they're not on here!

Wizzska not long for you, with us due throughout the month it seems so close when you say just over a week that gets me excited then when the girls due end of the month say 5 wks it makes me chill out that I have plenty of time!!

Beckle - hope the support belt helps.

Suey, that's a nice size baby at the moment, I've heard alot of people have the baby's weight estimated a few weeks before birth but then the baby hasn't been huge/tiny when they were born so good on you for not worrying you're going to have a 10lber.

Does anyone use Virgin wines? If you set up a new account then click on redeem voucher then put pipex in as code and winebank as password it will give you £50 off an order over £79.99. I used it last night and got a bottle of Tattinger Champagne along with some lovely Wolf Blass wines and a couple of cheaper bottles for a total of £36.99 (including the delivery charge). Sorry you all probably think I am wine mad what with using the Tesco codes as well but nice bottles make for handy last minute christmas presents and that champagne is for MMMEEEEE after birth!

cazzybabs · 22/11/2007 14:36

I am hot today and have a headache...and tired moan moan moan..no itcy boobs though!

looked at my birthing pool yesertday and though Oh No it is going to hurt!!!!!

Think I am nesting at school as keep doing all the jobs I never normally have time to do (oh and reading MN!)

Beanstermummy · 22/11/2007 14:48

Afternoon peeps. Really getting fed up now - BH's so strong and regular last night from 8pm until 1am that I def thought that was it - but no - slowed down from every 15 mins or so to nothing at about 2am so I could finally sleep - now knackered I really don't remember them as strong last time - or maybe it's just I am more aware of the feelings??

On a positive note - havign had shelves put up in nursery on Tuesday night - even got bath resealed last night too Possibly me being such a whale when I'm in the bath and overflowing it every time was the final hint DH needed

Wizzka - are you up for 'flog it' again today? I seem to be addicted to Deal or no Deal at the moment ??What's all that about then. Last time with DD it was Extreme makeover H.E and Living TV which had tinnes of Baby shows on - not much these days though. Also watching all the very very bad daytime films which DH would never ever allow on in the evening Cazzybabs - just reading youor post about nesting makes me feel faint. I've got tonnes I could be doing, but, well, there's the issue - can't be arsed !! Playing on MN is far more fun

cazzybabs · 22/11/2007 14:52

yes - but do note I am on MN!!!!!

The thing is my house is dirty and very very untidy...but i AM SO tired after school I end up in bed at about 7...the cycle ride finishes me off!

suey2 · 22/11/2007 14:52

jobs day for me too, cazzy! lots of little loose ends - eg something to give birth in- but really on the final furlong now in terms of essential prep.

Feeling incredibly zen today. Now i am unlikely to be induced, i am determined to enjoy the last wee while of not being a parent. DH's case finishes on the 30th and then he will be off until january. I am beginning to think past the current discomfort and just treasure the time we have left- a week of 'us' time between him finishing and before LO comes would be just lovely, i think. Going out for lunch, cooking in our new house, etc etc and without the builders (still here)

SarahPT · 22/11/2007 15:13

Hey everybody!

Just thought I'd say hello as feel like I'm 'lurking' otherwise.

Also know that I've really GOT to finish packing my hospital bag and sort myself out but where's my motivation gone?!!

I think it must have disappeared to the same place that my ankles are hiding as I can't seem to find them anywhere either!!!

Am with you suey2 on the last week of coupledom thing! Fancy going to the cinema on saturday for one last date but is 39 weeks pushing it do you think? Not sure what the Odeon would do if I went into labour in the middle of the foyer? Would I get free pick and mix for life do you think?

Anyone seen anything good recently?

Amani · 22/11/2007 15:19

Hear American Gangster is supposed to be good.

If you fancy something different, how about a 'Bollywood' film 'Om Shanti Om'

suey2 · 22/11/2007 15:26

i would definitely go, sarah. I don't know about american gangster- it is supposed to be really violent (but v good). I am not the hugest fan of denzil or russell crowe, either and I am really sensitive at the mo. The new one about a train journey through india is supposed to be good (something about darjeeling in the title?) , or i would go to the jane austen book club if you can persuade DH!

mixedmama · 22/11/2007 15:32

DS is staying out tomorrow night so am thinking that DH and I should use it as an opportunity to do something.... I really do fancy American Gangster but I am a big fan of Scarface / Godfather etc etc.

I also fancy Beowulf, not because I think i would like it (altho DH prob would) but i do fancy going to Imax and watching a 3D film.

FurryFox · 22/11/2007 15:34

Hi girls. Hope some of you remember me, I was on the December thread right at the beginning, due the 10th but had hyperemesis so missed months and never really caught up again.

Popped in a few weeks ago to re-join but didn't last long. This thread just moves to quickly for me but just wanted to say I 'lurk' regularly to see how you all are and wishing you all lot's of happy births and hope you enjoy (if that's possible ) the last few days/weeks of your pregnancies

Ambi · 22/11/2007 15:39

Hi Guys, not been for a couple of days; been pretty busy, swimming twice ? very proud as I never exercise. Had MW appt yesterday, with my fav MW ? she thinks I?m really fit and healthy, and my stomach muscles are athletic!! (I?ve not been described as athletic since I was 5) LO is def head down, next appt with them is 40+1, a week on weds where I will get a sweep. She didn?t say how engaged the head was but took a last blood test to check platelet count for anaesthetist in case I have an epidural, also given the ?labour hotline? at the hospital, feel pretty ready now. Stole exercise ball off my mum ? wow, so comfy, would def recommend.

Been shopping today to pick up last minute xmas presents and cards, got Grandparent xmas cards for our parents - it?ll be their first grandchild. Picked up some RL tea too, it?s not bad actually, nicer than a lot of fruit teas I?ve tasted.

Melly ? I?ve done the butter in microwave = sparks & flames too

Congrats Kitsilano, sounds like a great labour, you?ll have to post some baby pics of Lana (lovely name) and make us really jealous.

Beckle ? hope the hernia isn?t painful, think they?re quite common though cos my pg colleague has one, isn?t it because the uterus pushes all the organs around and the tummy muscles open up more during pg? [sounds like I know what I?m talking about emoticon]

Fifi ? yeay, you know when you?re having your baby, wonder how many of us pop before the 13th? That consultant sounds like a wanker, surely he deserved a slap.

Choc ? does sound like yours is on it?s way, your dad sounds fab.
Dundee ? Glad everything seems ok again for you.

Loucee ? I feel heavy and achey in the mornings too, think my bed?s too soft now.
Also my Mum (who once was a nurse so can diagnose anything) reckons the shooting buttock pain down my leg is sciatica, its very weird and sends me off balance! Only happens when I?m stood up (which isn?t very often)

Everyone?s perking up now they?re on Mat Leave or very close to starting!
