Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bouncingturtle · 21/11/2007 15:59

Been to docs, he has had a look at my feet, but said not really a lot he can do! Normally would send me for an x-ray but won't because they don't like x-raying pg women. So will have to grin and bear it. He did say it might improve once lo arrives, that's what I was hoping too, but in the meantime he has prescribed me some painkillers, and and has given me a giant bottle of Gaviscon too
Dundee - good luck with the consultant!
Chocpeanut - bloody builders! Hope you manage to get eveyrthing sorted before lo arrives!

macdoodle · 21/11/2007 16:08

Just spent the whole day in casualty with DD
She has been complaining of hip pain for weeks but we've had tears for a few days so worried was being too laid back medic mummy so took her to GP who sent up up to see specialist who did XR and bloods (all ok he thinks she has irritated hip)...he told me to keep her less active impossible with my DD she is SUPER active and has insisted on going on planned play date this afternoon ...have asked mum taking to try and keep her quiet (FAT CHANCE) and give me a ring if she is complaining (H cross cos I let her go but didn't feel fair to punish her especially when she was SO good at hospital for bloods and everything for FIVE hours)...gonna give all her activities a miss for a week (swimming, trampolining, dancing) and see...
But I am absolutely shattered sat on settee worried that I shouldn't have let her go out but relieved for few hours peace to out feet up

dundeemarmalade · 21/11/2007 16:28

just back from consultant (still find it hard to get my head round consultants being the same age as me...) and she says all is well, ignore ultrasound for head as usually v. innacurate (see earlier comments!), baby plumping up nicely, engaged to 4/5 (hurrah) and not to worry. relieved doesn't even begin to describe it. thanks again for all your support. would have gone mad on this and other occasions if it were not for mn and you guys.

Wizzska · 21/11/2007 16:39

Dundee - so glad for you. These people are awful the way they worry you for no reason. They should keep their traps shut until they're sure.

Macdoodle - Hope she feels better soon.

Bouncingturtle - could your feet just be a pregnancy thing? My sister in law's feet went up a whole shoe size when she was pg, just from the relaxing of the ligaments and bones.

I've been having some funny pains today - like baby pushing very hard on my bladder for a few seconds. It quite takes my breath away at times. Baby feels quite big now, seems to get me in the bladder and ribs at the same time.

Wizzska · 21/11/2007 16:55

Chocolatepeanut - What an angel your dad sounds.

Sounds like yours could be on the way. Exciting.

No LO's so far today then?? Had some massive BH's last night and really did think that was it - but nope

Just flicked on baby channel (complete sofa veg day for me today - not like the rest of you industrious, energetic types) and the two womoen who set up MN were on. Really interesting how they got started etc and also that both are PG at the moment too. The presenters on the programme usually p*ss me off (previous half hour about inductions - really good consultant lady but compeltely dumb Presenter) but this was for once really interesting - apparently there are over 150,000 of us who log on monthly

Dundee - glad things are more positive now - I really wonder sometimes if these medical ever actually consider the impact when they drop things into conversations etc.

My Consulatnt appt is on the 5th (DD 30th Nov) and the only reaon for that is she only does clinics every 2 weeks! As this will be when they set a date for CS if I've not popped by then it does all seem a bit random.

Any thoughts for easy comfort food for tea tonight - feeling an energy burst come on - DD may have to do Scrambled Eggs (currently up there in fave foods for tea) and then I cc ould do massive dish of maccy cheese - with tuna and boiled eggs in it?? DD lunches then sorted for next week anyway! And get to watch DD and DH trying to combine patience levels making the cheese sause - always good for a giggle. DD method - eat more cheese that put in sause, flour all over kitchen and stir like mad at all times - DH - pain in the bum doing it all the 'correct slow bit by bit method'

Wizzska · 21/11/2007 17:21

Beanster - industrious? Energetic? Not me! I've been asleep on the sofa for an hour while Escape to the country and Flog It were on.

smeg rang back

lady said she was thinking about me with no kitchen and shes sending man out in morning

phew

pains started up again...

mixedmama · 21/11/2007 17:21

Choc - that is so lovely. My mum and dad do nice things like that. After DS was born my mum mentioned to my dad that I was low on clothes (since nothing fit) and he gave me his Matalan card and £100. So thoughtful arent they.

Dundee - congrats, glad it was good news... you can get on with enjoying the pregnancy now again.

macdoodle · 21/11/2007 17:26

scrambled eggs mmmm good idea ...gotta make it myself though

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 21/11/2007 17:28

I lost my mum 8 years ago and dad has been mum and dad since then

I am v lucky as I have very good dh too

mellymooks · 21/11/2007 17:51

Chocpeanut - your Dad sounds fab - bless him, sounds like things could be starting for you!

Dundee - soooo glad all ok was so worried for you when I logged on and found your message in the middle of the night.

Beanster - I'm with you keep getting pains and twinges and think ooh could be it then all goes quiet

Had such a ridiculously lazy day today but I guess maybe i needed it as seem to have been rushing round a lot of late.

My wonderful man has just sorted out a load of hassle with Esporta gyms for me too, they had set the debt collectors on me, even though I gave my notice period they claimed I still owed them £90!!! I got really mean phone calls yesterday from this company and was really upset, my lovely man just took over and has sorted it all out bless him bless him he is a star.

Housemum · 21/11/2007 18:03

Choc - this could be it for you??? Exciting!!!

Dundee - so pleased for you - awful that they should let you think the worst for days though - surely the right thing to do would be to fob you off with, "looks a bit smaller than I'd expect so we'll book you an appt to be safe" not to have frightened you to death for the weekend.

Melly - well done on sorting out Esporta - is that one of the gyms that was on Watchdog recently for basically making it damn near impossible to ever cancel?

I so hope that my LO is a girl - I have had the world and his wife telling me over the last week or two that it's a "boy bump" that I just want to stick two fingers up to them all and go nyah-nyah-na-na-na

My friend's DH asked if I was smuggling a football into school, as it was such a roundy bump! Suppose that's different...

mellymooks · 21/11/2007 18:07

Hi Housemum - I'm not sure as haven't seen watchdog recently - but wouldn't be surprised, they have been a total nightmare from beginning to end and i wish i had never joined!!

Bouncingturtle · 21/11/2007 18:18

Yes I joined Esporta years ago, evil people
Choc - your dad sounds lovely! And glad Smeg are sending someone out to look at your dishwasher tomorrow! Though you maybe in labour by then
Wizzka - yes, gp and me both thought foot thing may ease off when lo is born, but that's still at least 3 weeks away!

suey2 · 21/11/2007 18:44

hello all.
Good news dundee! you must be soo relieved.
Had my growth scan this afternoon- LO is est. 6lb 14oz with just under 3 weeks to go! US lady not bothered at all- she said there was no need for the referral. Will see MW tomorrow as follow up, but all looking heatlhy and big, but not excessively so. Head was covered in hair! Still absolutely no sign of engagement, so it looks like i will be going the distance. May need that birth plan after all!

Had hospital AN class- they had a one day old baby and were showing how to bath it. I had to keep blinking not to cry! could hardly concentrate on what the midwife was saying.

insywinsyspider · 21/11/2007 21:35

housemum - lol thats why I want to have a girl so I can stick up 2 fingers to the inlaws! especially since they said I'm not very girlie so they couldn't imagine me with a girl

macdoodle - good luck keeping DD rested!

dundee - glad you had such positive news, its a shame you had to go thro that worry but i hope you can relax now

insywinsyspider · 21/11/2007 21:39

just finishing reading the posts!

glad your scan was all good too suey - I got all tearful over baby clothes the other day when deciding which baby grows to pack in hosp bag! you are not alone

had a brilliant meeting today as BH kicked in when I was presenting - I had to stop and breath thro them and the look of sheer panic on everyones faces was fantastic I think they are looking forward to me leaving too (i work in engineering - am only girl in my office and i think it worries them )

buzzybee · 22/11/2007 07:42

WHY is it that some consultants just seem to think they are God's gift when alot of the time they are completely thoughtless...lol at the House comparison!!

I went back today for scan number 8. Still loads of fluid but she's partially engaged yay!! And if she stays that way labour could all go completely normally. Was warned not to get my hopes up too much as she could "pop" out again quite easily apparently but I have faith in this LO!! Released me back to MW care so next time I go back to the hospital I should be in labour

Dundee - glad to hear your news, this PG malarky can be a rocky road sometimes n'estpas?!

Suey - realised after I left I'd forgotton to ask about size/weight. Oh well - I suspect at least 8lb.

Also picked up a feedback form while I was there - think I will put in a complaint about the other consultant who caused me so much stress and worry.

Bad news is I appear to be coming down with a nasty headcold - and there I was priding myself on avoiding colds all this year with doses of echinacea and Vit C. Fingers crossed it passes over the weekend - might take tomorrow off.

Good luck Chocpeanut and Beanstermum! Let's roll on a coupla more babies!!!

Bouncingturtle · 22/11/2007 08:31

Buzzybee - yep spend the day in bed! Don't forget your vit c, echinacea, big box of choccies and some slushy novels or movies

I'm also wishing for a girl to piss off my FIL, and my dss's mum, apparently the name we've picked for girl's middle name is the one she wants - but she is absolutely adamant she doesn't want any more kids (apparently my main function in life is to produce a sibling for her son ), but she told DH that that particular name was off limits!!!! Plus the name I picked for boy happens to be the same name as FIL's brother so he'll be going around saying that lo is named after him - which he isn't! I just liked the name and so did DH! This is why we don't really want to tell people names until after lo is born. My mum doesn't care what we call it as long as it's not Moon Unit or Fifi Trixibelle or Banana
Got AN appointment this morning, then hopefully will make it to Aquafit, but will be tight. Plus Xmas present wrapping, and ironing!
Still washing lo's clothes and things, not much more to do. BTW - do you iron things like babygros and sleepsuits? Not sure I can be bothered - I hate ironing!

Amani · 22/11/2007 08:42

Morning all

Mcdoodle - hope DD is better.

Wizzska - getting similar sort of pains in my pelvic regions and mega bad back aches now.

Chocolatepeanut - how exciting - could this be IT?

Buzzybee - make sure you have lots of 'power' foods to keep that cold at bay. Defo put that complaint in.

I've just come into work and found out that I have to go to an Executive meeting on the afternoon of my last day. and have to give my boss a lift to place where the meeting is held (great - so she'll see my crappy driving/parking skills).

Bouncingturtle · 22/11/2007 08:48

What a pain Amani! Sane thing happened to me on my last day, my boss's boss wanted a meeting as well since it was my last day. It was supposed to be me, my lab super, our R&D manager but then my boss and his boos decided they needed to be in it and our production manager! It was supposed to be to formally hand over to my lab super but damn meeting kept going off at a tangent, my boss was late then kept going off the subject to try to score points off his boss and it went on for nearly 2 hours . Me and lab super were severly peed off, as we could have used the time more productively!!!

mellymooks · 22/11/2007 09:02

Morning Everyone,

Bouncingturtle - I don't iron anything!! Does that make me a potentially bad mother??!!!

Off to AN class this morning, been getting more twinges today but trying not to get too hopeful as prob nothing.....

fifisworld · 22/11/2007 09:18

Morning everyone

It seems like everyone is getting twinges and aches now, i had these yesterday and last night i had to go and lie in the bath as they were getting quite bad but they've stopped now.

Chocolatepeanut - Hope your ok

Insy - did you get your birth plan done?

Buzzy - Hope your feeling a bit better.

I was just thinking before, this time in 3 weeks i'll be in having my baby
Its the only thing thats keeping me sane atm, knowing that the end is in sight.

Hope everyone else is ok?
