Melly - you should - last chance you'll ever get
We'll be getting a little present from baby to my dss, who's 6yo, just a small token gift.

mellymooks · 21/11/2007 11:01

Ah well, if you insist! Feel really tired today actually, I seem to be like that at the mo, I'll have a couple of days where I feel like I'm bursting with energy and get loads done and then a day where I feel totally lethargic and just don't seem to manage to achieve anything!

Amani · 21/11/2007 11:09

are u still working melly or on mat leave?

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 21/11/2007 11:18

Morning ladies

Resting up as work still slow in house and so want this baby to stay where he is until things ready.

I too feel v heavy and sore.My spd has come back this week and things very sore down below. Struggling a bit now with only 9 days left.

mellymooks · 21/11/2007 11:18

I'm on ml, I finished early as I had tons of A/L to take and they said they would rather i tack it onto my M/L, (if I hadn't used it now it would only count as pro rata on my return and as I hope to go back parttime but am currently fulltime it seemed daft not to use it now!)
I was finding it tough though as I had an hours commute each way and worked a 40 hour week and I have M.E. so I'm very glad i finished at start of Oct. feel like I've had time to get organised, visit my family and friends and now just waiting really!!
apologies to anyone still working away i am in awe of anyone managing it you're better women than me!!

becklebigbump · 21/11/2007 11:29

Wizzka, lol at your DH - very Morcambe and Wise type joke! Is reassuring to know that hernia op is not a major one! One less thing to worry about!

Fifi and at your consultant! I sometimes think they are bored in their jobs or something but that is no excuse.

loucee · 21/11/2007 11:35

Chocolatepeanut - how much work is still to be done? Hope your little one does stay put for you.

Those of you that said it might be damp in the spare room, that's my fear but no idea where it would be coming from - house is only 7 years old. Think I'll look up someone in the yellow pages later to get someone round to look at it, the spare room is the baby's room to be! Haven't got a nursery as such as possibility the baby will go in the box room which is currently DH's music room.
Amani - good idea, I've left the window open all morning. It's just strange that this smell has only appeared over the past week, we occasionally stay in there if DD has had a bad night or if DH has been on big night out etc and never noticed it before. DH can smell it too so not just my hormones!

Need to get some housework done now

becklebigbump · 21/11/2007 11:45

DH announced last night that he is going to pick up a kids quad bike tonight with his brother and BIL's GF is going to look after kids (as I am at work). All that obviously fine except for the fact that he has told them to come for dinner too! I don't even eat dinner at home on a work night as I go out too early!!! Not impressed. Is bath night too so will have to get the boys bathed and cook a meal all before I go and do a 4 hour shift at work!

On the plus side it is my last shift on my evening job!!! (and only 7.5 days left of daytime job - not that I'm counting )

skidaddle · 21/11/2007 11:57

beckle - can your DH not cook the meal since HE invited them? I would be very - he could even get a take away or something if he hasn't got time to cook

MM - did you sort out your iron tablet problem or have you moved on to spatone?

insy - did you find a doula?

becklebigbump · 21/11/2007 12:05

My DH says he can't cook Skid! I had to go and get some extra food in last night as don't generally keep enough in to feed the hoardes!

Men can be very thoughtless sometimes, I don't think it occurred to him that it would be any extra work for me! Trust me, he knows I am unhappy about it.

becklebigbump · 21/11/2007 12:06

Feel better for having a mini-rant though!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 21/11/2007 12:09

Kitchen half installed but when tried out new dishwasher on Mon it has a leak so waiting for smeg to come out to fix it (gave 3 working days) and everything on hold till then

Conservatory painted and floor being layed as i type but plumber ill so downstairs loo and plumbing in kitchen (sink and so on) also stand still

skidaddle · 21/11/2007 12:10

He can't cook?!
Hope you gave him a right earful!
And tell him all your mn buddies are appalled at his behaviour!!
Glad you feel a bit better though

mememummy · 21/11/2007 12:17

hi people, still no lo yet, am fed up have had annoying bh all night but catching up on the post has given me hope that it wont be to long, tried the sex, pineapple and breast pump last night im fed up now and just want this lo to arrive so i can meet her. name has been picked and dh paternity leave is being sorted as we speak.

hope ur all k amy xx

claraquitebignow · 21/11/2007 12:33

Kitsilano - Congrats! What a fantastic VBAC birth - am extremely . Lovely name too.

Fifi - I had an elective c/section last time so please if there is anything you want to ask about or you have any thoughts or concerns before your next appointment, do ask. I think you will find it is a very positive experience after an emergency section. And quite frankly it's b***cks that they can't do it one or two days before 39 weeks. Many women do get it a couple of days earlier simply because that is when they can fit them in. And, lets face it, our due dates are fairly random anyway....

Bouncingturtle · 21/11/2007 12:49

Meme - have you tried clary sage? I've just ordered a massage oil for use in labour it has neroli, lavender, roman chamomile and clary sage in it. Have been told not to use it more than a week before due date.

BTW not everyone says rude remarks about your bump/pg status. Saw the window cleaner today, he normally comes by in the evening to collect his payment but I paid him now to save him an extra trip back, and he said I was looking very well! But he does have 5 kids, so I guess his dw has him well trained in what to say to pg ladies now

Off to the docs this afternoon, getting my left foot looked at, ball and arch been feeling very bruised and painful for weeks, and in the last couple of weeks getting odd sensation that there is comething loose . Might just be a fallen arch - Dh had been massaging my feet for me (he is also well trained) and mentioned that it feels odd.

Beckle - sometimes DHs just don't think! I would have made them get a takeaway...

tabimum · 21/11/2007 13:28

fifi - i cannot believe the attitude of your consultant - but the NHS are so set by their "guidelines" on dates. I had an emergency c/s last time, and am booked in for scan and consultation with a view to booking an elective c/s this time (as baby has been breech at every scan and m/w appt) - I asked last week if the appointment could be brought forward by 2 days so my DH could come with me - and apparently not, it has to be at 36 weeks precisely (not a day before)...so if they are that set on the consultation date, I cant imagine they would deviate from the c/s date....which is a shame as I was hoping for a few days earlier for childcare reasons too....

dundeemarmalade · 21/11/2007 13:52

grrr to the 'has to be this date' horse-droppings spouted by some doctors! quite how the medics can suddenly be so sure that they know EXACTLY when 36 or 39 weeks is, when by their own account, even the most accurate dating scans etc. are out by +/- five days is beyond me. seems like they switch on the god-like wisdom and authority when it suits them.
Off to see our consultant in an hour or so- first time i've met an obstetrician -hoping he's one of the nice ones.

congratulations to kitsilano!!!

fifisworld · 21/11/2007 13:56

Thanks for your support everyone, i thought maybe it was just me being a bit over sensitive again

I wasnt really that bothered about not getting the date i wanted, if they have guidelines for electives then fine, but it was just his attitude.

As it happens my dates swapped his weekend off so he will be there for ds and so will mil so its not too bad.

Amani · 21/11/2007 14:03

Just to emphasis dundee's point: at my 3 month scan I was gien a due date of 30th Dec and then at the 5 mth scan my expected due date changed to 27th - 28th Dec (one of those I think) based on the current measurements, but the sonographer mentioned that they don't change dates on maternity notes unless if it > 5 days or < 5 days.

mixedmama · 21/11/2007 14:24

Afternoon all,

fifi - second what everyone else said about your consultant.

dundee - good luck, hope the consultant confirms what the MW said.

Skid - yep i chuckked away the pills and moved onto Spatone. Still a bit nauseous tho but think I may just STILL be suffering mornign sickness.

Had my MW appointment today. Went very well, it was like she was a different person. Answered all my questions and was in there for agaes. She said baby is tall and head down so that sort of explains pain in my ribs. She was a bit worried my ankles were quite swollen and it was only morning and BP has risen altho still not high. She just said we would keep an eye on it. Missed the first antenatal class yesterday as I didnt know about it, but there is 3 more weeks left incl. pain relief, BF and post natal stuff. They are during the day tho and next week is my last week so have just taken Tuesday off.

Wizzska · 21/11/2007 14:35

Have had a lovely morning in the park having coffee with the homebirth midwives and other home birth mums. They do it every other week and its really nice to meet other pg women who are hoping for hb.

It was such a lovely sunny day that instead of going home I went and finally got my eyebrows waxed and eyelashes tinted in prep for the big day. I think I've done it too early but the local salon is quite cheap so can always have a top up if DS is late.

MM Spatone is great, I've been on it for a couple of weeks now. Don't know if iron levels are up but I do feel better.

insywinsyspider · 21/11/2007 14:43

loucee - was going to say it sounds like crazy hormones are responsible for the smell as I'm convinced our house smells but if dh can smell it to then not sure what it could be

skid - no luck about doula as I wasn't able to do anything about it last night, I just about stayed awake till dh came home at 6pm, handed over ds and went to bed - god knows how I'll cope next week, on ml end of next week and can't wait!

fifi - don't think it sounds like you were over reacting at all, hope you get answers you need next time

had lovely antenatal class this morning and going to do birth plan with dh tonight so if it happens when he is away we have a comprehensive plan - its a bit vague at mo because most of it is in his head
no childcare cover tomorrow so will be having day with ds - off to try out some toddler groups and tire him out
