mellymooks · 21/11/2007 08:15

Thanks thingamijig! That makes me feel slightly better about the whole thing!! I don't know how I managed to miss all the signs, but somehow I did!!

mellymooks · 21/11/2007 08:18

thingamijig - you're not on the list when are you due?

suey2 · 21/11/2007 08:45

congrats kitsilano . it really could be any time now for the rest of us, eh?

skidaddle · 21/11/2007 08:47

Wow kitsilano!!! Huge congratulations and what a fantastic birth story - 5cm with 'annoying' BHs sounds alright to me! Lana is a lovely name and hope all is going well

beckle - what a nightmare about your hernia. My MIL (age 62) has just had a hernia operation and they think it came about through her pregnancy over 30 years ago! She said the operation was fine and after a week of slight pain and rest she felt completely fine again. Hope it is the same with you although a week of rest might not be too easy with a newborn plus two boys!

fifi - great news you have a daye for your cs - tell us about your consultant

feeling quite good today - all dd's medication made her really drowsy so she slept all night with only one wake-up - bliss! Maybe I should continue her medication indefinitely...

suey2 · 21/11/2007 08:50

hah! it has made me a bit nore paranoid about my BHs now, though! What a lovely birth story.

Bouncingturtle · 21/11/2007 08:57

Kitsilano - congrats on your beautiful baby girl
Well according to the list it is JARM's turn next!
You know I thought I might have time to keep up with this thread now I am on m/l, but keep finding other stuff to do...

Amani · 21/11/2007 09:05

Morning all,

Just a quick 'Hi'.

5 working days until mat leave - horray!!!!

Wizzska · 21/11/2007 09:25

Kitsilano . What a wonderful birth story. I hope it all goes as smoothly for the rest of us. Many congratulations on having a little girl.

I'm beginning to feel a bit scared now. Its getting a bit close.

Child benefit thing, nightmare! Am grateful DS isn't born and registered yet.

Morning,

The consultant i saw yesterday was a total arse really.

He made me feel really uncomfortable and had a total attitude. He was going over what i will need to do and he said 'if you go into labour before your date and you come in with the baby between your legs you can forget a c/s'

I then asked if i could come in a couple of days before 39 weeks as i had childcare over the weekend and he said no they cant do it before 39 weeks. I said ok thats fine i just thought id ask, his reply was 'we dont do it for women who have husbands in the army who are home on leave so we certainly wouldnt do it for you'

So anyway he was going over the risks etc on a consent form and he said ' so its not really a walk in the park theres a lot of risks you might be safer with a vbac'

I pointed out that i had a em c/s before and there was a chance that if i did go for a vbac the same could happen again so surely the risks would still be there for a em c/s.
He just shrugged his shoulders and said 'well its up to you then'

He gave me a copy of the consent for and said 'just wait in the waiting room someone will come and give you a leaftlet soon'

That was it, that was what ive been waiting for all these months. I thought id get the chance to discuss things properly and ask questions but i couldnt ask him anything, i was scared of what he'd say or how he'd say it.

Ive got to go in the day before to have a assesment and i'll ask what i need to then

mellymooks · 21/11/2007 09:29

Wizz you're not on the list either when are you due?

Wizzska · 21/11/2007 09:29

Beckle - my DH had a hernia there a few years ago. Small operation in and out of hosp the same day although a bit slow around the house for a few days after. He was pleased because it gave him the opportunity to say his favourite gag to the nurse - I think he still looks back in triumph. When he came round from the general anaesthetic, he said 'will I be able to play the piano?' Nurse 'of course' - DH 'good because I couldn't before'. (perhaps you had to be there .

Fifi, is your consultant modelling himself on Dr. House? What an arse!

OP posts:
mellymooks · 21/11/2007 09:33

fifi that's awful!! How do these people ever manage to get into this profession? i think you should complain - at least let your mw know how unhelpful he was.
So sorry it was rubbish.

mellymooks · 21/11/2007 09:36

Ooh wizz you're right not long at all, and i'm not far behind you.

loucee · 21/11/2007 09:36

Morning all

Mellymooks, Wizzska used to be MrsWizz.

Buzzy, I was having loads of pressure and kicks so low down I felt the baby would kick through to the outside but hasn't been like that for a week now, I thought i was getting somewhere!

Starting to wake up every morning feeling achey and like I weigh 100 stone - anyone else feel like this? Our mattress is only 2 years old and was a really good one so I don't think it's that, probably just my weight gain and I think I stay in the same position most of the night due to bump size and weight whereas I used to constantly turn from one side to the other.

It's so dark here, think the lights will need to stay on all day!

Off to aquanatal later, only have 3 more left!

loucee · 21/11/2007 09:38

Oh meant to ask - does anyone know why I might be getting a dusty smell from the spare room? As you walk in you would think someone has been sanding in there. I've cleaned the room top to bottom, washed the curtains and blind, wiped over the walls, skirting, hoovered etc.
Worried it might be damp?

Amani · 21/11/2007 09:44

Fifi ? what an awful consultant. Can you not request to speak to anyone else?

Amani · 21/11/2007 09:46

Loucee - might your room need a bit of airing? We always keep our spare room windows on breeze lock to help prevent that dampy smell.

Bouncingturtle · 21/11/2007 09:51

Fifi - I would definitely complain - he has no right to be so dismissive of your concerns
Loucee - it could be damp, but not too sure. Hope you find what it is!
I'm just getting backache if I stand up or exert myself for too long, got the washing out of the machine, hung it up, put another load in basket, brought it downstairs and stuck in the machine, washed up and my back was killing me!
Really frustrating because then have to sit down for half an hour to rest it and I've got loads of stuff to do! Going to see my mum this weekend, and it's the last opportunity to see her before baby arrives, so got a load of pressies to wrap and cards to do.

skidaddle · 21/11/2007 09:52

fifi - at your consulatant, what a twunt. i think you should seriously think about putting in a complaint

loucee - yes I wake up feeling like I weigh 100 stone. Then I have to walk up a steep hill on the way to my department(nicknamed cardiac hill - you can imagine) and I feel like I weigh 3000 stone. To think that I have on occasion cycled up that hill - can't even imagine that now

mellymooks · 21/11/2007 09:55

Ah loucee, must have been before I joined thread only ever known wizzska as wizzska!

bouncingturtle - my sympathies on the backache - and you've reminded me i really should be putting washing in, not lounging on sofa in dressing gown half watching trashy daytime telly and half surfing the net!

fifisworld · 21/11/2007 09:59

I dont have to see him anymore, thank god but i will mention it to the assesment unit when i go back on friday for my iron.
I just wanted to see someone who could answer my questions and just put me at ease but he just made me feel like crying.

macdoodle · 21/11/2007 10:00
