Hi ladies 👋 I'm tentatively setting up a thread for those of us who have made the scary leap from infertility to a BFP and still need a hand hold from others who get it 🤝

I'm only 4+4 and already worrying that the BFP is too good to be true (I've had a previous MMC at 10+5, so that bitter experience doesn't help). Would love the company of other warrior ladies to go through the ups and downs of this emotional roller coaster for as long as it lasts 🎢

@Bella1984 and @PT8998, tagging you ladies on the hope that you'll join me 💗

Hi ladies

Just a quick message to say good luck and farewell!

For me this has become an extra source of anxiety, despite you all being lovely. With my MH conditions and being off my meds due to.pregnancy I am just going to focus on myself and my wee family! 🤰🐶👨👶

My work is super busy, I'm starting a Band 7 next month, my husband hasn't been very well and our ongoing dispute with our horrific neighbours has escalated to the point we have had to involve the police last night (called out at midnight and!) and they are being issued with a formal caution RE harassment . . .
So I've got enough on my very full plate!

Pregnancy wise I couldn't be better, definitely more tired now (8 weeks tomorrow!) Appetite has calmed down thankfully and I am sleeping through the night (apart from toilet breaks)

I hope you are all keeping well and wish you all the very best for now

I will maybe pop back in in a few weeks once I'm in a better head space xx

Amy ❤

BambiOnIce80 · 13/05/2021 07:59

@Bella1984 that sounds like a very, very full plate 😞 Completely understand the need for a break and that's the beauty of these threads - you can dip in and out whenever you like 😊 Look after yourself and I hope to catch up with you if/when you feel up to it.x

Yep, you'll definitely see more than 5 people @OM82! 😄 It's certainly not back to 'normal' levels yet though 👍 I was a bit trepidatious about how many paraletic people would be about when I went out for dinner on Tuesday night, but the 2 hour booking slot rule seems to be (mostly) keeping this at bay 🚷

It sounds like you've got a really good midwife there too 😊 I've delivered a bit of the midwife training around 'informed choice' in my time and she certainly nailed it there! 😁 We'll definitely be going for all the screens on offer and are really clear about what we'll do if we get bad news - such a personal decision to which it feels like there's no right or wrong answer... the things to worry about never end!

Not much of an update at this end, really. Still feel like my symptoms have gone awol, but I'm noticing that just typing out this message on my phone whilst on a moving train is making me feel queasy, so maybe they're not quite as awol as I thought?!

Hope everyone has a lovely Friday's Eve.x

Happy Friday everyone!

Not sure if you'll see this @Bella1984 but sorry you are having such a tough time. Good luck with everything and hope to see you back soon.

@OM82 I've already done one trip with a van to rented place so at least just a car load this time. But trying to sort as much as possible for when we come back with second and final van. I will definitely reward myself with one of those cardamon rolls 😀

@BambiOnIce80 I've been the same with feeling less nauseous than I was! Seems to come and go a bit. Really annoying as you do question every symptom.

More drama with my meds! I ran out last night of utrogestan and yesterday tried 4 pharmacies and none had the stock of utrogestan (could order but didn't have time to wait!). Luckily still had my cyclogest 2 week prescription (that arrived too late before) so managed to get that one filled until I can get the other one. I wish I didn't leave my prescriptions until last minute every time 🤦🏻‍♀️

Does anyone have any weekend plans? Apart from packing got friends coming for garden drinks sat night. Trying to decide if I just pretend my non alcoholic gin is real (as luckily no one is going to ask for sip to try!) or say I'm still hungover from the night before (which was a common occurrence pre ivf ha ha!).

Hope the weekend goes nice and quick for you @louloulemons

How you feeling with the twins @lboogy?

lboogy · 14/05/2021 14:56

All good thanks @Em916 . Garden party sounds lovely. It's nice to socialise somewhat normally again. I reckoned if you like sprite you can easily pretend you're drinking gin and tonic 😄

lboogy · 14/05/2021 15:05

So I had a harmony test and the clinic emailed to say they've had some sort of issue with the lab so I need to come in for another blood draw. Needless to say I'm very peed off! Waited a week thinking I only had one more week to go and now this! Urgh!

OM82 · 14/05/2021 20:33

@bella1984 Sorry to hear your feeling so overwhelmed, sounds like you have a lot on just now. Hope things get better and calm down. I find turning off notifications for everything apart from WhatsApp messages (no mobile signal at my house) on my phone helps a lot so I have to open my email app to see if I have any new ones.

Enjoy your socialising @em916. I'd give the alcohol free G&T a go, it's fooled a few people I know. Also easier if folk are mixing their own drinks in the kitchen... I've finally found a 0% beer that is do nice I think I'll carry on drinking it afterwards! Glad you got your meds sorted.

That's frustrating @lboogy, I guess these things happen but it's frustrating. Maybe they'll try and rush it through. When we had to do all the hiv checks etc at our clinic they phoned my husband and opened the call saying they were really sorry but there's been some bad news about his blood tests. We were terrified (he was driving so it was on the speaker) and it turned out they had just mislabelled his vial so he needed to resubmit a sample. We were so relieved we didn't care!

I hope everyone doing okay. I've been feeling pretty rough all week - I wake up at 5.30 feeling like I'm going to throw up and the only thing that helps is forcing some food down straight away. Then I feel like I'm hungover all day. My poor dog is used to a 2 hour walk most afternoons and he's not getting that at the moment, I just about manage an hour or so then I have to come home for a nap... I've just woken up a few minutes ago! Wild Friday nights 🎉

Hope you all have a nice weekend!

BambiOnIce80 · 16/05/2021 10:41

Happy moving day @Em916! 🥳🎉🥳🎉 I hope you had a lovely time at your garden party? I was surprised on Tuesday when I met my friends for dinner that neither of them said anything when I ordered a peroni libera and didn't join them in the wine - not a flicker of interest (and I don't usually pass wine up!). Not sure if lockdown's made people too polite to ask?! Had my "got a meeting at work tomorrow that I don't want to be hungover for" excuse all ready to go and I didn't need it! 🤷🏻‍♀️ What tactic did you go for in the end?

Very annoying about the harmony test @lboogy 😕 I hope it gets sorted this time 🤞

Sorry to hear you're feeling rough @OM82 💐 I find eating helps disperse the nausea a little too 👍 Really weird when the last thing you want to do when you're feeling awful is eat! My nausea is still very mild and intermittent, but food aversion is definitely here in force! 😕 Doing the weekly food shop is becoming harder and harder when I don't know what I can face eating from one minute to the next! I've been fancying lasagne for the past two days though, so I'm going to pull myself together and get on with making the bolognese for that soon 💪 Did you manage your trip to the pentlands in the end? I hope you had a nice time, if so 🙂

I've had a bit of drama in the last 48ish hours 😣 Nipped to the loo shortly before I was going to leave work for home on Thursday and my panty liner was spotted with pink, the toilet bowl was filled with pink and there was pink when I wiped (sorry for the TMI! 😳). I managed to stay calm and find EPU's number and speak to them (thank god they picked up, given it was ten to five! 🙏). They were very calm and lovely, although the nurse did ruffle my feathers a little bit when she spotted I'd had a previous MMC and gently suggested that I might be seeking a reassurance scan because of that?! 🧐 Uhm, no!!! 🤨 I hate scans exactly because of the MMC and I'm only ringing because I've got sodding pink spotting and I don't know what else to do! 😩 Anywho. The upshot was that they think it could be normal pregnancy stuff because it was pink, but to call them if it turned red/got heavier and they're even open at the weekend, so not to worry if I needed them then. If it stayed the same/stopped, I was just to mention it to the midwife at my booking appointment on Tuesday and let her decide if anything needs doing about it. So, when I got home 2 hours later (and the first chance of running to the loo and checking again!) the pink was gone and there was just a bit of brown going on instead (sorry again! 😳). Even that's gone now (there was nothing on this mornings progesterone applicator 👍), so not sure which way it's going to go 🔮 🤷🏻‍♀️ One thing's for sure - I'm feeling more and more sorry for the poor midwife how ends up with me on Tuesday! 🤦🏻‍♀️

@BambiOnIce80 so sorry about the drama! It really sucks as just makes you panic even if rationally you know it's normal. But at least it was over and done with fairly quickly so that's a good sign surely. How you feeling now? So insensitive what the nurse said to you, does seem EPU assume everyone just trying to get a reassurance scan when you just want some help. How did the midwife appointment go? Did you manage to make the lasagne?

Moving day was tiring! My tiredness and nausea seem like they are getting worse. I actually puked the first time the night before the move so I was a bit worried about the 7 hour drive but thankfully I was fine. So happy to be in Edinburgh finally and nice to have a few days off to unpack / watch tv / throw up 🤣

I went with alcohol free g&t. But no one even asked what I was drinking! Which 0% beer did you find @OM82? I'm also feeling like I'm hungover last few days which is annoying as don't get the fun from actually drinking ☹️

Did you get the harmony test sorted @lboogy? That is very annoying you had to redo it.

Good luck today @louloulemons!!!!

BambiOnIce80 · 18/05/2021 12:22

Thank you @Em916 🥰 That's exactly it! My scientific and reasonable brain acknowledges that the whole short-sharp pink to brown thing is considered normal, but my completely irrational MMC brain was having none of it! 🤦🏻‍♀️

The midwife appointment went fine, thank you 🙂 Soooo relieved that she's nice and approachable. She'd already spotted the MMC and the recent pink spotting on the system, so she said we could skip all the baby related spiel until after the 12 week scan if that's what we were more comfortable with (and it absolutely is what we're more comfortable with!). She had no concerns about the pink/brown spotting at all, so doesn't think we need a scan at this stage (she'll reassess that if it happens again). She's got a urine sample from me, so I'm sure she'll text me if any blood shows up from the dip stick on that 🧪 The only surprise was that she's putting me on aspirin (because of my old age! 😂), so that's actually a bit of a relief. I had been thinking of taking it off of my own back because of the previous MMC but didn't feel comfortable taking it without running it past a healthcare professional, so this is a bit of a win 💊 👍 No more appointments now until the 12 week scan in 4 weeks time (unless something goes pear-shaped with the spotting 🔮).

Sorry to hear about the sickness and the hungover feeling (I'm very much getting the hungover feeling! So unfair when we can't even bloody drink!!). The only time I've come close to throwing up was when strong smells have hit me 🤢 My gag reflex seems to be on a hair trigger at the moment!

Excellent news that you're in the Burgh now 😎 Have you managed to register with a GP yet? I can punt the central midwife booking number at you if they don't have it to hand 👍

Been thinking of you @louloulemons 💗 Good luck for today 🍀🍀🍀

Hey! Sorry for the radio silence, I’ve been struggling with awful anxiety over the pregnancy and realised the best thing for me was to stop reading online and try to take my mind off things, which has helped calm me down a lot in the last week or so. This experience of pregnancy has been so different to last time and I’m so sad that the MMC has robbed me of that absolute innocent joy I felt the first time around.

Thanks so much for thinking of me and remembering about my scan. Unfortunately it was bad news again yesterday and it’s another MMC. It was obviously awful to go through that again but I’d really tried hard to prepare us both and so it wasn’t the awful horrible shock it was last time and it made it much easier to deal with. The thought of being back at square one though has hit me today. I feel like I’m playing some cruel game of snakes and ladders.

Anyway, thank you all for being so lovely and supportive, it’s really helped and meant such a lot. I’ll step away now but sending you all so many positive thoughts for your journeys ahead and I’ll be thinking of you all when those extra special Christmas and New Year babies start arriving! X

BambiOnIce80 · 19/05/2021 12:52

I am so, so sorry @louloulemons - there really aren't enough words. I know exactly what you mean about MMC spoiling the joy of everything. It feels like things can never end any other way, but I'm wishing with everything I've got that it won't be the case for you next time. This process is awful, but you sound like you'd prepared yourself as best as you (or anyone!) could (I fully understand that the shock can be nothing like that first time). Look after yourself and I hope you and your DP get your rainbow 🌈 xx

OP posts:
OM82 · 19/05/2021 21:11

@louloulemons I'm so sorry to hear that, you must be devastated. Look after yourself and your partner, and I hope you can take some time to process it and grieve together. It's such a hard process to go through and then to get such sad news.

I hope things go well for you in the future, whatever you decide to do and wherever life takes you.

Em916 · 19/05/2021 22:18

@louloulemons so so sorry, life can be so cruel. I think a cruel game of snakes and ladders sums up ivf. And I know what you mean too about a previous mmc taking joy out of it too. Hoping next time will be better for you.

Be kind to yourself xxx

Em916 · 21/05/2021 12:31

Afternoon everyone.

Glad midwife appointment went fine @BambiOnIce80, they sound very considerate! And good they suggested aspirin you wanted to take anyway. Out of interest what was the reason you wanted to take it?

I sent the forms to register with a doctor (by email so could have done it weeks ago 🤦🏻‍♀️) and registered with midwife. First appointment is 16th June and scan on 17th June so should be 12 weeks + 4.

Tried out bross bagels and love them 🥰Waiting on dp to pick up with my 3rd one now this week. Thanks for the recommendation! And also went to soderberg and loved those cardamon buns too, thanks @OM82! Did you manage to pick some up? So basically spent this week eating lots of food. Not been sick since Tuesday but constantly feel like I'm going to be.

Anyone got any fun plans for the weekend? We are going to some friends for dinner tonight and meeting up with other friends Sunday for a walk. Both sets of friends know about whole ivf journey so good no need for drinking excuses! Also looking forward to watching Eurovision Saturday night (not sure it will be quite the same without booze ha ha!).

BambiOnIce80 · 21/05/2021 18:15

I'm loving that you're knocking through the recommendations @Em916! 😁 I love bros bagels but think I've overdone them now 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm sure they'll be back on my menu once these damn food aversions settle down! 🥯

Excellent work on getting the GP and midwife sorted out 👍 My booking scan is on the 15th at 12+3 🔮 I was thinking about taking the aspirin because of not knowing what caused the MMC and thinking it couldn't hurt to take a very mild and safe drug that stops you clotting very easily, just in case that was something to do with it 💊 The midwife has called me back since though and asked me to not start it until 12 weeks because that's what the 'guidelines' say 😕 I'm still debating whether to be the good patient and do what I'm told or go with my gut and go rogue! 😈

Your weekend plans sound very lovely 😎 This week work wise has been loooooong, so I'm treating myself to a long, hot shower when I get in, followed by my onesie and quality sofa time 🚿🛋️📺 Tomorrow we're off to Pier Brasserie for lunch on an itison voucher (if you're not familiar with itison then I would heartily recommend giving it a Google now that you're in Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿), then Sunday we've managed to snaffle one of Roberta Hall's pies (off great british menu) to have at home 😋 Think we'll probably be joining you in eurovision on Saturday too... it has to be done! 🎤

OP posts:
OM82 · 21/05/2021 18:40

@em916 glad you're all moved in! Have you lived up here before then, or are you very good at making friends quickly 😉 I'm very jealous of your soderberg proximity. We made it to the pentlands last weekend but didn't bother to come into the city in the end. It turned out to be a good decision on the end as when we were driving home my husband started to get side effects from him vaccination he'd had that morning. He was very pathetic for the next 48 hours! I'm even more I delayed mine as if we'd both felt like that the dog would have gone mad.

Glad you have a nice sounding midwife @bambionice80. I hope the aspirin thing isn't too worrying. I guess the main thing is if it could hurt at this stage. My scan is on the 4th so that's the next thing to get nervous about...

Sounds like you both have nice weekends planned. I'm already on the sofa with the fire lit and the dog keeping my lap warm, I didn't get my lunchtime nap today (I have no idea how folk can hide early pregnancy when not working from home!) so I'll be in bed early. No exciting plans, just a trip to the "big city" (Stirling!) for a few bits. And hopefully it'll warm up enough for some gardening.

lboogy · 28/05/2021 16:37

@BambiOnIce80 so glad to hear the midwife appointment went well. I was put on aspirin too but I was 12 weeks at that point. I was also told to take extra vit d tablets. They are the ones you chew and absolutely disgusting. I struggle to take two a day and I've pretty much had maybe one tablet every other day.

I got my harmony results and thankfully it was all normal. Plus they told me I've having two girls. So 3 girls for me in total.

I'm bloody exhausted, at 17 weeks it's so hard to move around. I just want my previous energy back .

How's everyone doing?

BambiOnIce80 · 29/05/2021 09:15

Excellent news on your harmony results @lboogy 😃 I bet it must feel like you can relax a bit more now. Have you kept hold of your daughters old clothes? Sounds like you're going to be able to use them again! 😁

I'm doing alright, thanks 😊 I decided to be the good patient and not start the aspirin immediately... I guess I'll find out if that was the right choice or not in a couple of weeks time at the scan 🔮 The midwife gave me soluble aspirin for some reason, so not looking forward to having to drink that everyday 🤢 I also took my last progynova and utrogestan on Thursday (should have been Wednesday, so I'm not always the good patient! 😬), so just trying to calmly wait and see how that pans out. My nausea has pretty much gone away already, but still having the mild food aversions... Che sera, sera.

@OM82 good luck for your scan this coming week 🍀🍀🍀

I hope you all have lovely weekends 🌞 I'm going to brave going into town and tackling the shops for the first time since lockdown #1... wish me luck!

OP posts:
lboogy · 29/05/2021 18:44

@BambiOnIce80 yes, it's fortunate I've got my daughters old clothes. Kids are so expensive!
I hate taking all the pills like those pregnancy test, aspirin, vit d etc. But the worst was those pessaries. Constant manky knickers lol

Hope you're okay with the aspirin. I try and wash down the taste with aspirin

OM82 · 31/05/2021 21:00

That's great news @lboogy, do you know if they're identical twins or not? Must be a relief to get the results of the tests. I hope you start to feel a bit more sprightly soon, did you manage to relax in the sun over the weekend?

How were the shops @bambionice80? I've still not been into a city centre yet, it was absolutely mobbed around here at the weekend and terrible traffic so I just hide our in my garden. I popped to the bakery yesterday morning just after 9 and there was already a long queue outside! Thanks for remembering about my scan, it's on Friday so the nerves are beginning to pick up again. I'm finally not feeling so sick (apart from first thing which isn't too bad if I eat something straight away) and had enough energy to do quite a bit in the garden this weekend which was nice as it desperately needed some work!

Hope you're all settled in now @em916, and everyone else is well.

BambiOnIce80 · 04/06/2021 08:00

Good luck again for today @OM82! 🍀🍀🍀 I'm glad you're starting to feel better and can do the things you enjoy 😊 The shops were OK in the end, thanks 👍🏻 I planned my route with military precision and just got in and out as quickly as possible... don't think I've ever picked a new handbag so quickly in my life! 👜 😂 My queasiness seems to be waxing and waning, but the food aversion are still in force 🤢 I'm looking forward to going out for Sunday lunch this weekend just so I can pick what I want off of a menu there and then and hopefully not go off it by the time it reaches me 🤦🏻‍♀️ I really fancied smoked haddock, spring onion and cheddar risotto last weekend and had been looking forward to making it all week. Made it, sat down to eat, tasted great, but got a quarter of the way through it and couldn't face it anymore!! 🤢🤦🏻‍♀️🤢🤦🏻‍♀️ Ended up with bread and butter instead! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm definitely going to have to find something to chase the soluble aspirin down with @lboogy 💊 How are you doing with the tiredness now?x

Been thinking of you @Em916 💓 Hope you're OK.x

OP posts:
lboogy · 04/06/2021 08:16

Hi @BambiOnIce80 glad you managed to eat something at least. I miss sitting down to a lovely restaurant meal. I struggle to eat much these days. It just makes me feel sick too. Orange juice helps get the aspirin down and the midwife said Oj helps to absorb more vit d too.

I have on and off days with tiredness but I just want to feel like myself again 😞

OM82 · 04/06/2021 17:57

Hi everyone, just thought I'd drop in and say all looked fine on my scan today. A huge relief, although I think there will be quite a few stages like this along the way... They said I'll get extra scans after 28 weeks because it was ivf.

I measured bang on the days expected, so came away with the same due date just before Christmas.

I've been feeling pretty stressed and exhausted again so I'd planned a trip to Edinburgh tomorrow (with the sole purpose of getting to eat cardomon roll - finally - and then Japanese for lunch) so I'm looking forward to that and eating some exotic food 😋

I hope everyone is well and has nice weekends!

Ps. The midges have arrived here in full force this week 😕

Em916 · 04/06/2021 18:22

Amazing news @OM82 and @lboogy on both of your scans!!! Hope you enjoy the Cardomon rolls tomorrow @OM82. I'm sure it will be worth the wait! That's great they have offered you an additional scan too. Although they are the most nerve wracking things ever! @lboogy twin girls, so exciting. I am one of three girls 🥰

@BambiOnIce80 great you managed to make it to the shops. Such a shame about your lovely risotto. I've been struggling too with my appetite and just not fancying certain stuff after it's been cooked! Although not lost my appetite for junk food 🙈

I was struggling with the sickness as about twice a day but last few days it seems to have stopped but just feel sick for a lot of the day. I've had a few close calls on my morning walk up Dundas street when I've come so close to hurling! 🤣 I was going to book a private 10 week scan but just not sure so probably won't bother now and wait for my 12 week one.

I am catching up with both of my sisters tomorrow. Just doing an outdoor meet as one of my sisters is super sociable in all the pubs so paranoid about covid (not seen her in over 2 years!). Still can't get a date for my first vaccine even though tried registering with the helpline.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!!!
