Myermay, good luck with your scan on Wednesday. Hopefully we should stop feeling sick soon, now we're getting into the second trimester - although I've heard it can sometimes last the whole way through - hope it doesn't for any of us!

logic · 15/11/2004 16:03

myermay - I'm really pleased that your bleeding isn't red any more. It's a really good sign!

I'm taking the sanatogen vitamins this time but I didn't take anything apart from folic acid up to 12 weeks last time and the baby was fine. I found that I physically couldn't take the tablets with ds, they made me throw up but it doesn't seem to be happening this time thankfully...

fisil · 15/11/2004 19:21

myermay, that's good news about the blood. Things that make me laugh:

  1. when it first happened I thought "OMG, I've pissed myself, what am I coming to?" only to find myself later on thinking "I wish I'd only pissed myself"
  2. I was so happy when the blood started to be brown. Right, I'm pg, and I'm overjoyed because I am bleeding brown blood!

Heard baby today. I kept my GP appointment even though the bleeding is all but gone. Asked to hear the heartbeat for reassurance. And there it was. Bless its little heart! DP had never heard a foetal heartbeat before (except for during ds' labour) and was really happy. And then a bit later on s/he gave me a little friendly tickle inside to tell me s/he was OK (or to thank me for the breakfast). So I hope that finally all the nightmare is over and I can relax into the 2nd trimester.

Who else used to think that being pg was all about having a big belly? All the constipation (hormones, apparently, not liquid), weeing, headaches, migraines, bleeding, fatigue, madness, insomnia, nausia, tearfulness!

Tinker · 15/11/2004 19:35

So how early can you normally feel the baby in 2nd pregnancy? Am getting so fat without it looking pregnancy shaped.

logic · 15/11/2004 20:13

oh god, the tearfulness. I nearly sobbed into my pasta this evening for no reason whatsoever. I think my dh would like his wife back. So would I!

Tinker, I think you can start to feel the baby move from 15,16 weeks with a second. It's about 18 weeks with a first. I think it's something to do with having no stomach muscles left

fisil · 15/11/2004 21:22

and knowing what feeling to look out for with the second too, I think. I felt this one at about 15 weeks, but with ds I was never really sure whether it was just wind until at 19 weeks he actually kicked dp - then we knew it was for real!

cab · 15/11/2004 21:36

Glad all went well today Fisil and Myermay. Will need to sit down now and read what everyone else is up to properly.

Morning all! Myermay i just had Breakfast beside the computer scrambled eggs and cheese on toast - all sickness is long gone at this stage time to pile on the pounds. You're a veggie, i'm not sure if you eat cheese and eggs though? I dont eat meat but do eat fish.
I have a pregnant tummy now, but i was thinking we are lucky not to be "BIGGER" over christmas.

Hello Girls!

First time mother and first time to a chat group! he he. I just have so many questions and you girls seem to have the answers .

Also not had period since August as they are not very regular but only found out last week we are expecting. Got a scan tomorrow to see how old babydot is, so nervous though, you hear so much about miscarriage. Please tell me I am not the only one!

Look forward to chatting to you all.

BabyDot, Age 22, Kent x

logic · 16/11/2004 14:49

Hello babydot, welcome to the May thread!
Feel free to ask any questions...
I think we all worried about miscarriage especially those of us who have had them but it's lovely to have a scan this early. Good luck!

BabyDot · 16/11/2004 15:53

Thanks Logic,

It is so nice to have girls to chat too, I am the first of my friends to fall, so only mum's advice when she had me bless her!

So excited for the scan tomorrow, could be anything from 3 - 13 weeks!

Anyone ever had an internal scan? (I told you I had questions!) he he

myermay, you've heard the heartbeat, you'd know I'm sure if something was wrong. Are you still bleeding? Good luck for the scan anyway!

babydot, I was in a similar situation. My last period was in July so I could have been anywhere between 5 and 9 weeks so I had a blood test to find out...

BabyDot · 16/11/2004 16:31

Wow I did not know you could tell by blood how far gone you are, detecting the level of hormones I suppose and what is Anti D jab?

Boy I am glad I found this chat group! he he

cab · 16/11/2004 16:35

Myermay hope tomorrow goes ok.
Hi and best of luck with your appointment baby dot. I've had an internal scan after a missed miscarriage - should have been 12 weeks pregnant but when went for scan they couldn't see foetus, just sac so they did an internal. Can't really remember much about it now but definitely don't recall it being painful or anything.

fisil · 16/11/2004 18:37

hi babydot. An internal scan is where they get this kind of wand about 9 inches long and about an inch across at the top and pop it (covered in jelly) in the entrance to your vagina. They wriggle it about a bit to get the best view, so it is undignified, but not painful (unless you have the old pg constipation and they hit it against the back wall when it really stings!)

good luck with the scan tomorrow myermay. Fingers crossed.

Brighteyes · 16/11/2004 19:24

Well just catching up on everyones news, I've missed so much lately.

Been really busy with work, my workload has literally doubled in the last three weeks due to people leaving the department so I'm totally exhausted at the moment.

Glad to report that the morning sickness has totally disappeared. Is it to early for cravings yet? I'm eating bags and bags of skittles, don't know if its a craving or if I just enjoy giving in to my sweet tooth.

Fisil and Myermay, really sorry about your scares hope everything is ok now though.

Big welcome to Gemma and Babydot, nice to have a few more first time mothers joining, all the ladies are so helpful and supportive here, couldn't survive without their advice.

I have got my second scan for 22nd December, be like an extra xmas pressie to see the baby just before xmas, really can't wait.

Hope everyone is doing good and I'm going try harder to logon more often, took me ages to read through all the posts just now

logic · 16/11/2004 20:41

Hello Brighteyes, I was getting worried about you! I'm so glad that you're not sick any more.
My next scan is the 22nd Dec too. We keep getting the same dates!

Brighteyes · 17/11/2004 07:18

Hi Logic. Thats a real coincidence that we keep getting the same dates, wonder if our babies will decide to make apperances on the same days too.
