Can't see why not Myermay. Even if you're not, tell them you can't stop crying etc so that they take you seriously.

You can hear a heartbeat at 12 weeks Myermay, definately. Hope everything is ok...

cab · 14/11/2004 15:32

Myermay that's great the midwife is coming out. Best of luck.

cab · 14/11/2004 15:34

Agree what the labour ward said was v. strange indeed. My lovely g.p. tried with a doppler thingy to see if she could hear a heartbeat at 5 weeks! OK, she couldn't, but at least she tried - on the basis that I might be a month further on than I thought.

That's great news Myermay - now get those feet up and look after yourself!

logic · 14/11/2004 16:09

I'm really glad about the heartbeat Myermay! I don't understand why hospital staff are so callous though Eat lots of chocolate and rest

Gem1355 · 14/11/2004 16:10

Hi i've got my scan a week 2morrow. really excited, i would like to find out the sex but mum said she wants her first grandchild to be a surprise!
heard bean's heart beat last week and very strong
and healthy.
Just getting really bad heartburn in the evenings! and the occasional migraine.
myermay i hope u feel better soon!

logic · 14/11/2004 16:21

Hi Gemma, I don't think they can find out the gender until the 20 week scan anyway. We asked to know last time and luckily they were right! Hearing the heartbeat is amazing isn't it? I have been having migraines and I think Uwila has too and it's probably caused by the hormones. Have you tried cool strips? I swear by them...

northstar · 14/11/2004 16:25

Rest up Myermay-
Gemma, if your mum wants it to be a surprise then ......dont tell her! I was on my own when pg and finding out the sex really helped me for some reason, like we were getting ready to know each other or something IYKWIM. Good luck for your scan, although im sure we'll be talking before then
Hope everyone else is keeping well and eating loads, I had lunch out and then called into garage for THREE doughnuts on the way home

Myermay. Big big hugs. I know exactly how you must be feeling. That horrible feeling of having bright red blood rolling down your legs. I think you've had really rough treatment from the medical profession. No-one mentioned the m word to me at all, everyone was very calm and relaxed, but told me I was right to have contacted them. But then I had that shitty experience at the hospital too. I hate that lonely feeling of being out of control and not knowing what's happening. The heartbeat is a very good sign. If the bleeding was connected to the baby, it would not longer have a beating heart (sorry, that sounds quite harsh, but it's meant to be reassuring!). I was told that it was probably the placenta. At 12 weeks you have stopped growing major organs, and it is now time for the baby to settle down for a long period of growing bigger and fatter. The placenta sometimes has to move into the correct place, and when it moves it can cause some loss of blood. This makes sense to me, and kind of reassured me.

I was lucky in that I was home alone with ds when it happened and dp's phone was switched off, so I looked at the time & realised that my NCT friend (who already has a 2nd) would be on the train on the way home and would be able to jump off at my stop if she felt it was a complete emergency. So I rang her and discovered that exactly the same had happened with her second at exactly the same time (and not only that, it was even the same day exactly a year ago - as our babies are a year apart!). It was wonderful to be comforted by her, knowing that herbay came out fine. If you want to chat more, please CAT me.

PS, what's your blood group? If you're rhesus negative, you need to go & get an anti-D jab up your bum.

Hi all,
Thought I was over the migraine phase, as the first trimester officially ended for me yesterday... But no, I have another one. Started on Saturday. They are somewhat bearable on the weekends because I have the luxury of crawling into bed with an ice pack (well, depending on DH's mood, I may have that luxury). But, here on Monday morning I must either go to work or confess to the pregnancy (which I have not done yet, and wish to put off for as long as possible). As I pulled into work, the headache was accompanied by a sudden urge to throw up -- which fortunately I managed to control. So, now I sit here with the headache hoping it goes away sooner rather than later.....

Ah, but then I logged on and read Myermay's post. And so I guess migraines aren't the worst thing that could happen. Sorry Myermay, hope you are feeling better soon. And that the docs get off there arse and give you some real attention.

Hope everyone else is feeling well and enjoying their food.

northstar · 15/11/2004 10:02

Good morning everyone especially Fisil and myermay hope you are both healthy and rested? Hows those bumps doing today? Just realised that my bum is growing in proportion to my belly
Uwila, sorry you're still suffering - even if you dont want to announce you're pg in work surely a migraine is good reason in itself not to be there ?????

OP posts:
Uwila · 15/11/2004 10:16

Well, it may be a bit paranoid. But, the company has announced that there will be redundancies in the next couple of months. And, as I sit here on overhead with little to do, I think calling in sick will only get me one step closer to possibly appearing on that lay off list. So, I'll suffer.

Having said that, I do feel a bit better than I did when I typed that message. My migraines always last for three days, and this is day three. So I am optimistic that I will be better in a few hours.

Just hope this is my last one this pregnancy!!

northstar · 15/11/2004 10:22

oh poor you, well, i hope this is your last one too xx I've never had one, just a hangover headache and they used to kill me so i imagine its far worse and the only place to be is in a dark bedroom with covers over your head???

Quick question - how much is everyone drinking (not alcohol, just fluid ) and is anyone constipated? would it be from the pg itself or just not drinking enough water etc? I'm suffering but then realised that yesterday i had half a cup of tea and half a glass of apple juice all day and that cant be good!

OP posts:
northstar · 15/11/2004 10:23

oh, and what pills are you taking if any? Iron or Pregnacare or anything similar/different?

OP posts:
Uwila · 15/11/2004 10:54

I take pregnancy vitamins, and wweitch around between the brands because they vary, so I just go forwhichever one each morning. I also take the tri omega fish oils (which are said to be good for brain development).

As for drinks, yes you should dink more than that. You need more fluid in your body for to generate more blood for baby. Dehydration may be contributing to your constipation. Fluids and fier are good for you. But, don't take any laxitives. They are bad for bub.

Uwila · 15/11/2004 10:55

wweitch = switch

impressive typo, huh?

logic · 15/11/2004 11:00

I'm suffering too northstar and I'm sure it's the pronatal vitamins! Still, I'm not eating or drinking enough either so I can't stop taking them. Does anyone else feel that they just can't stand the thought of eating? It's not like me at all!

On a very positive note girls, I felt the baby move yesterday evening!! Definately the baby. I leant over to pick up my cup of tea and it whacked me in the stomach. I was shocked. It did it twice but nothing since. I'm 15 weeks now so it's around the right sort of time for a second to move isn't it?

northstar · 15/11/2004 14:02

wow logic that sounds good baba kicking - good and healthy
I have the wierdest fluubbery feelings in my tummy at the moment thats all
Have started taking iron as feel tired, there's not enough in the pg multivitamin - and i know that because my (when it appears)isn't black hope no-one minds the lowering of tone, but it seems that it's not all about glowing and sweet frilly dresses round here!

How are you feeling now Myermay? Must be reassuring to hear the baby's heartbeat. I haven't heard mine yet, although I saw it beating on the scan.
Welcome Gemma, Its' my first pregnancy and I've found mumsnet really helpful - I'm sure you'll find it useful too. Its so nice to know there are other people out there going through the same sort of thing.
I've also found out since going public that there are 2 other women in my work place who are both due in May too - so a mini network of us here too.
Can't wait until I can feel the baby move - and start to get some more eneergy!
It must be wornderfull to feel it move Logic.
I'm taking Sanatogens Pronatal and haven't had any constipation - bit of the opposite really but thats down to my Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which I think is bad because I'm so tired at the moment.
