LOM - sorry to hear about your hibernating love life! How frustrating!

LK - yeah i worry about my waters breaking at an inappropriate time/place but i dont let it stop me doing anything. If it happens, it happens. Thankfully last time, i was at home and had just sat down on the sofa when my waters started to trickle out, so no biggie there.

MrsJaffaBiffa - ooooo i feel special! I'm an 8 per cent-er!!

Loopy - Dartmoor sounds lovely. Would love to have a stroll along them! I wouldn't say it was a fab busy day really, coz i really wasn't in the mood. Oh well, hopefully tomorrow will be more productive. Hope the pool steralising goes ok. I still haven't got mine out of it's packet yet to make sure it fits in the front room! I really must do that soon, especially as i've been having BHs all bloody day!

Sarah - welcome back! Glad your move went well and you're enjoying your new place. I think three storeys is enough to wear anyone out, let alone someone who's nearly 39 weeks pg!! Hope your carpal tunnel gets better soon.

Enjoy the rest of your evenings everyone.

Hi all - can't wait for more of you to come over to the PN thread (which is very quiet I have to say!) Elliot's piling on the pounds - I think (he's growing out of the newborn stuff anyway) and doing a very good impression of a starving person every couple of hours Not a good combo with a poorly DS though(temp of 104 and very miserable)but at least DH is around to help

Mrsjaffabiffa - I am consoled by your comments. I had ARM for each of my 3 births (all delivered within 3hrs of rupture though)
just as an aside .... Do M&S still give loads of vouchers if your waters go in their stores? get yourselves down there girls!!

Loads of contracting vibes to all of you

aikigypsy · 11/11/2007 21:38

Not ready to move over to the postnatal thread yet, sorry to say. I did go in for a labour check this afternoon and got hooked up to a monitor for ages. Baby moving LOTS, irregular, mild contractions, 50% effaced, almost 1cm dialated, "Could be tonight, could be next week!"

Grr. Oh well.

iris66 · 11/11/2007 21:47

aikigypsy - "sex, sex and more sex" is what my consultant said to me. The prostoglandins in sperm kick everything off apparently. Not that I (or DH) was that enthusiastic but it may be worth a go (and you can always tell Dp that it's his last chance for about 2 months!! ) hope your frustrations end soon and you'll have your gorgeous hungry bundle in your arms

littleoldme · 11/11/2007 21:47

sarah - Glad your move went well and that your Lo has waited. I really admire you coping with it all. I get traumatised if DH puts the can opener in the wrong place at the mo; not sure what moving house would do. Nice to have you back.

RG - as long as the mind stays willing ...

Iris - Hello glad Elliot is doing so well. How much is he weighing now.?

Aiki - How frustrating. At least you know you are on your way though.

Loopy - Dartmoor is somewhere that I've never been but I hear it's gorgeous. We tend towards the Lakes and Highlands.

I'm having a domestic day 2moz so doubtless I'll be sat at the Pc. See you all in the morning.

You know something, I never put my birth story on here so here it is

Woke up on the tuesday 25th sept, felt fine, was rushing about getting the kids ready for school, when at 8am my first contraction happened, didn't think much about it as had a few false alarms.

Get the kids to school and have to stop on the way back to the car to breath through the contractions. Dh tells me to get into the car and I can't, because I was having another contraction. Arrive home and post on here that I might be in labour. PIL arrived about 10am and help me check my bags etc. Dh goes to get some lunch at 11:30am, when Lisad and her new baby arrive here. We eat lunch. Am still timing contractions and they are coming every 10 minutes with small ones in between. At 1:30pm, I know that its not a false alarm and finally get DH to understand that I need to be at the hospital.. Phone the hospital and set off. Arrive at the delivery suite at 2:15pm.

Once in there, am strapped to a monitor and go over my history AGAIN! Am being tended to by a student. Midwife comes in and feels my tummy during a contraction and calls the doctor. Doctor comes and has a look at my cervix, using a speculom (sp?) and a light. Lots of blood comes out with it, but she doesn't think I am dilating.

Am left for a bit and DH decides to go and pick up the kids from PILs and take them home at 4pm. Just after he leaves the consultant comes in and explains that if I am not dilating I can have some drugs to stop the labour. He examines me and nearly shot me into the next labour room, he was so forceful He just bluntly says '2cms dilated and fully enfaced' I bursted into tears and MW is left trying to calm me down. Lisad arrives soon after. Am given G&A. Am leaking blood which I kept thinking was my waters going.

At about 6pm, Lisad phones DH and explains that he needs to come back, as I am contracing regularly and its getting close. DH arrives at 6:45. MW checks me at 6:50 as I could feel pressure, and I was only 6cms and I swore loudly and said 'is that it???' His head was right down tho.

Remember screaming at DH that 'it wasn't this bad last time with Dd2' He just replied 'yes it was' G&A stopped working at that point, and I kept throwing the mouthpiece away, MW is going 'just keep sucking the G&A' while Lisad can see that I am getting annoyed with it and just tells me to breathe through it, which surprisely I managed. At that point I went onto all fours. From about 7:15pm I was asking if I could push, and they kept saying no. Suddenly I heard someone come in and ask where the C/Sections packs were? I panicked and thought it was for me!!?? MW shouted at this person to get out. I then threw up and my waters break at the same time.. Niiiiiccee!!!

At 7:30, Callum's heartbeat suddenly dropped and I am told to push. Push once and he moves down, again and his head is out, but have to stop pushing as the cord was around his neck, push again and then he was born at 7:34pm. He was taken straight to the SCBU table and checked over, Lisad just said 'he is quite big' I thought I had had an elephant from that comment.. lol

Anyway he was 4lb 8oz and well you know the rest..

Sorry for the essay.

berrybliss · 12/11/2007 03:51

hi ladies just to let you know that little Jacob James was born on the 10th November at 21.58 weighing 7lb 1oz.

He is as good as gold doesn't cry (yet) and feeding well!

Birth was rather traumatic but with such a fantastic result i've almost forgotten!

Will try and post pictures in the morning.

littleoldme · 12/11/2007 05:38

Congratulations berry. Can't wait for the pics. Glad all is well.

Sparkly - Thanks for sharing your story - everytime I log on these days there's something to make me cry
How's he doing?

JARM · 12/11/2007 08:28

YAY Berry! Congratulations!!!

Cant wait for the pics and details!

littleoldme · 12/11/2007 10:01

Very quiet on here this morning. I do hope everyone os either snoozing or having babies. Think I'll so back to bed.

Easywriter · 12/11/2007 10:51

So sorry to ost when I'm in a bad mood (and I haven't even caught up on all I've missed) but I am and that's making me in an even worse mood.

It was my due date yesterday and up until now, not even a twinge. I'm in a bad mood that I can't kick myself out of and to make matters worse (and I can't believe I'm about to say this as this just isn't how I've felt on any of the past days in the 4 years since I've had them) I've got the girls at home with me today and I can't be a*sed to entertain them.

G*d! Pull yourself together woman.

Am currently making thankyou cards (dd's birthday yesterday) and frankly it's like pulling teeth.

Make me laugh someone.

Sparkly - thanx for sharing your story. LOL @ you thinking it wasn't as bad last time.

Berry - YAY!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Pics ASAP please!!

LOM - I was rudely awakened by the postman at 9.30 this morning. Although he was delivering my potato ricer so i dont mind at all coz now we can have lovely mash for tea!! yummy!!

Easy - It's fine to rant on here, that's what we're here for! You rant away! Dont beat yourself up about not wanting to entertain the DDs. We all have off days and i'm sure they entertain themselves cant they. Stop writing the thank you cards until you can be bothered to do it a bit later, perhaps when they are in bed.

My hips are a bit sore this morning and my bump keeps twinging again. You never know, it could be the start of something. Knowing my luck, i'll go over my due date!

Ugh, i'm starving at the mo! I cooked sketti bolognaise last night for tea but the onions and garlic smell has been stinking the whole house out all night! I got up for a wee three times last night and every time i felt really hungry coz all i could smell was onions and garlic!!

I've got yet more painting to do today (ho-hum) but the nursery is looking brilliant and looks almost finished! It's now just literally the paintwork on the wood that needs the final coat, then the underlay & carpet and finally the finishing touches, like curtains and lampshade etc. Hopefully it'll be done by the weekend!

Here's an updated list to include Berry's lovely new bundle.

YAY FCH!!!

Its all happening now!

Just back from Morrisons, and man, im in PAIN! I hurt so so much, but I dont know why.... plus my cold feels like it should be man-flu, i feel so rough! I cant go into labour feeling like this!

DH has ordered me to sit and do nothing, but all i really want to do is nest nest nest - need to sort my bags out for hospital again, and i really want to sort the girls toys out and get them up into their bedroom so there is more room for baby stuff downstairs.

Maybe I need my bed instead.... didnt get up last night for any length of time, just to the toilet about a million times, but was so snuffly and coughing that didnt really sleep all that great either.

Spicy Fajitas for tea tonight, with pineapple for pudding, followed by sex and nipple stim courtesy of DH and a mug of Raspberry Leaf Tea - never know, all at once might work! At least im staying well away from the castor oil this time - never doing that one again!

littleoldme · 12/11/2007 11:44

Congrats to FCH - It's all go now eh ladies! Fantastic news.

Easy - I second what Loopy says. You are allowed to make it easier for you self. Hope your day gets better.

Loopy - Glad the sling is a success. If I ever get the blummin blind finished I'll give it ago. Someone has kindly given me a pouchy one so aybe that will suffice.

Might venture to the supermarket today. Ohh the excitement. Considering booking myself a pedicure for next week - because I'm worth it

What's everyone up to today?

littleoldme · 12/11/2007 11:46

Jarm - x posted. Sorry you are snotty. Sounds like you are in full on nesting mode and I might say in for what sounds like a rather active evening

LK2boyzma · 12/11/2007 12:02

Good Day all,

LOM- sorry that you are not having a great day, I agree with RG, do not write the cards now until you feel a lot more relaxed.hope you feel better as the day progresses

Congratulations to Berry and FCH. I do envy you guys

Am not that much in a rush for things to happen because DH's partenity leave starts on Monday next week. SO I would not want to disturb his routine, would rather wait until he is done then start jumping on him big time to try and be done on friday [EDD]. It would be good to be one of the two who have had their LOs on their due dates

Sparkly- Thanx for your birth story. I do look forward to reading these.

LK2boyzma · 12/11/2007 12:10

Beg your pardon, LOM , the post is for Easy, who is having a bad day.

sparklygothkat · 12/11/2007 12:10

Congrats everyone who has had their babies

Callum pulled his tube out again last night so had to put a new one in this morning. He is having green stools again, even with the tops up and I am actually wondering if he has a problem absoring the milk, SCBU nurse is cioming tomorrow so will see what he weighes and speak to her about it.

littleoldme · 12/11/2007 12:19

That's Ok Lk. I'll save up the sentiment for the next time I'm having a pants day

Sparkly - Hope the nurse helps. How are you feeling ?

sparklygothkat · 12/11/2007 12:23

I feel ok, am starting to worry a bit now, Callum is now 7 weeks old tomorrow and still only 5lb 1oz. I am thinking all sorts, I even thought it could be his heart, but the nurse doesn't think it is his heart, as he is pink and alert. We have a consultant appointment on the 20th so hopefully they will find out whats wrong.

littleoldme · 12/11/2007 12:43

It must be such a worry for you all but it does sounds like you are being looked after. Maybe it will be a bit easier when things have been clarified by the consultant.

Lots of love to you all. >
