@EasterBunny7 I’m so sorry to hear this! I fear I maybe joining you :(.... I hope your ok please be kind to yourself and take time to grieve. X

tikha · 09/12/2020 16:39

@MGee123 my scan is booked day after yours. Not quiet 7 weeks but the nurse was OK with it happening a bit earlier given my history of ectopic.

Hope people are holding it together. Am still not feeling this bfp. Today had a panic moment thinking have no nausea.
It's good that am back at work tomorrow. Will keep my mind of things. Not sure how to deal with the fatigue.

SpyroC · 09/12/2020 19:00

@TheGlitterFairy well about an hour after my last post my morning sickness was back and prevented me from eating my dinner! But I was relieved to hear from the bean 😂 I literally cannot stomach fruit and veg 🥺 the nhs 7 weeks email had a bit about how important various food groups are which made me feel crap. Not sure what I'm meant to do though 🤷🏻‍♀️ I've read elsewhere that eating what you can stomach is much better than not eating and that bean doesn't need too much right now so long as you are taking your prenatals. 🤷🏻‍♀️ your consultant sounds lovely ☺️ I need to book in a 10w scan before everything gets booked up. I actually do t mind decaf however my morning sickness is not a fan of hot drinks either 🙈

@tikha I found being at work during the tww really helpful but at the moment I'm just not enjoying it. The exhaustion combined with baby brain hormones is not a good combo, I keep making stupid mistakes and everything takes me twice as long. Plus stupid covid has already made things harder and more boring. That being said if I was sat at home I'd probably be googling incessantly and eating loads of crisps (I've eaten more this week that the whole of 2020 combined 😕) the mornings is enough stress, I really struggle to get out of bed. I can not wait for the Christmas break and the second trimester (if I get there)

I hope everyone is doing ok. Stay strong and think PASP! 😂💪🏻x

So I was just looking at booking a10w scan and the place I've had recommended has a really useful week by week what they can see but and it says on week 7 that if a heart beat is present the risk of miscarriage drops to approximately 5%. From what Ive read already I thought it dropped to 5% much later on. I'll do a little more research but that has massively cheered me up! @TheGlitterFairy did your clinic mention anything about risk dropping? I was too overwhelmed to think of good questions! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 this place is right!

Mackie2020 · 09/12/2020 19:32

@SpyroC Honestly, just eat what you can stomach! I had days where I barely ate anything, other days when I just ate crisps (salt!) and sour sweets. Sometimes I felt well enough to nibble on some veg. The doctor at the hospital reassured me that everything would be fine, and just try to eat what I could, even if it's a chocolate bar! It does get better.

MGee123 · 09/12/2020 19:47

Welcome @ivfjourney5 ! 🙌🥳🤞 look forward to sharing the journey with you and 🤞 for OTD.

The dry lip thing is so funny @ChicaXS - it's mostly my bottom lip 🤷‍♀️😂. Thank you for your reassurance. I emailed our consultant and he was very reassuring too 😊

Sorry you're so tired @SpyroC and @tikha. I've taken to having a little lie down when I get home from work which is so not me! So think I must be feeling it a bit too. @tikha ive worked throughout and it has been a welcome distraction to be honest. Days definitely go quicker for me!

Wow @TheGlitterFairy, a proper cup of tea! How was it?! I've been off normal tea/coffee since Jan as I'd rather have my limited amount of caffeine from dark chocolate 😂 that's lovely about your extra scan, and I'm sure it will break the waiting up!

@EasterBunny7 I am so sorry 😢 do take care of yourself and I hope 2021 brings you more luck 🤞

@SpyroC that stat is so reassuring if true! We're keeping fingers firmly crossed for our scan on the 23rd when I will be 7 weeks. Honestly don't worry about what you're eating - just eat what you feel like. If you've historically had a good diet I'm sure a few weeks won't do any harm, especially as you're taking vitamins.

Ive had no more spotting but nausea in the mornings has kicked in! It settles by 9/10 am but I do feel pretty queasy and a bit shaky first thing 🤢 seems a bit early as I'm only 5 weeks today but who knows 🤷‍♀️ I need to find a new favourite breakfast - not something to complain about but I did always enjoy my regular one!

Mackie2020 · 09/12/2020 20:00

@MGee123 morning nausea is awful. I have some rice cakes by my bed and I'm still eating one first thing, before I stand up. It's meant to help settle your stomach. A couple of mornings I didn't bother and I do think the nausea was worse on those days

MGee123 · 09/12/2020 20:21

Thank you @Mackie2020 that's a great tip. I did wonder if it relates to having an empty stomach, as I get a hint of it late afternoon as well (when I'm getting hungry for dinner). Will stick up on dry bland snacks! How are you?

Mackie2020 · 10/12/2020 08:01

@MGee123 I think it can get worse when you have an empty stomach. I tried to eat little and often although it was really depressing not to sit down to a nice big evening meal! I did find I felt better as I was eating, but gearing myself up to actually eat was hard and the relief didn't last too long.

I'm doing ok thanks. I'm now 15 weeks & the nausea has definitely relented a bit but not gone completely. I'm still pretty knackered and I have no stamina. I'm still waiting for that 2nd trimester energy burst and glow to kick in! Grin

ivfjourney5 · 10/12/2020 09:20

@all thanks for all of the lovely welcomes. I've been getting progressively darker tests so fingers crossed things are going in the right direction. Did anyone ring their clinic before the OTD to tell them the results or are the clinic likely to ask me to ring again on Sat anyway?

@Mackie2020 I'm glad the nausea has started to ease for you a bit! Hopefully it continues to reduce

@SpyroC that stat sounds so reassuring! I dare not look at the stats for how early I am! Also try not to worry about the fruit and veg, as you said eating something you can cope with will be better than forcing fruit and veg and then being sick

@ChicaXS how are you feeling this morning?

@EasterBunny7 I'm so sorry 😢 take care of yourself, sending you a virtual hug

@TheGlitterFairy it's great that the clinic are giving you another scan to break up the wait for the 12 week, so nice of them, I bet it'll be a relief

tikha · 10/12/2020 10:17

@ivfjourney5 I told them before I went in as I wanted to pick up meds. They only gave us enough to tide us over to a few days beyond otd

tikha · 10/12/2020 10:18

Question when did people do a risk assessment? Seems a bit early but am I a front facing role

TheGlitterFairy · 10/12/2020 14:48

@SpyroC poor you with the sickness; I do feel as though I'm getting away with it lightly at the moment with a few bouts of queasiness which I can stave off with crackers (or cheese!). I've been trying to have a fruit/ veg smoothie each/ most days to get some vitamins in - would that work as you could just take sips of it then? If not - as others have said, I think just eat what you can for now and keep hydrated. I'm feeling totally exhausted though and keep needing t get up in the night to go to the loo - then not being able to go back to sleep, which isn't helping! Have been v grumpy today also for no particular reason!

I didn't dare ask anything about stats when I was at the scan but I've read that elsewhere too and it's a good data point to focus on! Were you able to make an appt for your 10wk scan? Good to break the time up!

@MGee123 my queasiness was worse at 5 weeks than it is now so definitely not too early to have some. The proper tea is good!! I would normally have copious amounts throughout the day so now have a range of fruit and peppermint (though not more than is it 4 a day!) and I've taken to putting some fresh lime, lemon or orange into a cup of hot water too which is quite refreshing!

@ivfjourney5 I resisted the testing until OTD but I've heard others say they'll just as you to call back on the official day as they need to mark that date/ result down on their records then. The darker lines sound very good indeed!!

@tikha not sure on the risk assessment tbh - hopefully others can help. I'm office based, or was until March - wfh now.

Hope everyone else is doing ok today.

ChicaXS · 10/12/2020 14:49

@ivfjourney5 how are you?! Is your official test day tomorrow? I told my clinic the day before as I ran out of medication as my OTD was on the weekend. They said I still had to call with the results the next Monday. It was still positive lol but it’s their protocol.
I’m ok still very nervous with the bleeding. It’s settled now which is great but am extremely scared about the scan next week. I went to the EPU and they only saw a sac and no baby yet but I was 5+5 so early. It’s such a strange time as I am not excited at all but am trying to keep busy at work. I’m off from the 17th for Xmas break so if I do get bad news I know I can recover without the stress of work. I feel very pregnant today with extreme bloating and excessive nausea it hasn’t stopped since this morning. Might go shopping for ginger ales!

How are you feeling?

@tikha it depends on your role but I would say it is a bit early for a risk assessment?

MGee123 · 10/12/2020 19:02

@Mackie2020 the tiredness really hit me today - I was nearly falling asleep on the way to work, let alone the way home! Hoping I don't feel like this every day 😬 hope you start to feel better soon

Glad the tests are getting darker @ivfjourney5! I think your clinic will probably only be interested in your OTD result to be honest. So long as you've got enough meds perhaps just call them then?

@tikha I work in the NHS in a patient facing role. I don't want to discuss the outcome with anyone until after our 12 week scan (🤞 we get to it) so am not going to do anything until then. Appreciate my approach probably not for everyone but I'm just being careful at work and meticulous with PPE and hand hygiene.

@TheGlitterFairy thanks for the optimism about the nausea! 🤞😂 I've been super grumpy today too, mostly because I'm so tired I think. Could have killed a few people at work today 😬😂

@ChicaXS I can understand your anxieties. It's so hard to relax during this bit too, which I don't think I had anticipated (naively)! Glad you're feeling very pregnant today 😊 that is surely a good sign!

MGee123 · 11/12/2020 18:30

Happy Friday ladies! How are you all today? I've not had any more bleeding and did another test today (1 week post BFP) which was much stronger, so am feeling positive 🤞 went for a run again which has also helped I think. Hope you are all okay x

SpyroC · 11/12/2020 18:54

Thanks @Mackie2020 that is reassuring. It's is salty and sweet things that I crave and stop me feeling sick! Oh and I dream of Big Macs 😂but it's too much gluten for now.

@MGee123 DH did a bit more digging and it's true! It varies between 5-10% dependant on a few things such as age. According to one website my chance is 8% which has made me feel much better! 🤞🏻 for your scan. Thanks for your comments on the food stuff, my diet has completely flipped! I'm glad to hear you've had a stronger test and the bleeding has settled, all sounds very positive! 🙌🏻

@MGee123 @Mackie2020 I can't eat any of my usual breakfasts any longer either! I've taken to eating toast in bed and it does seem to settle my stomach for a while. Oh and rice cakes, I eat so many at work. The kids will probably think I'm a calorie counter! 😂 I read that it's not unusual to have this until 20 weeks! 🙈

Thanks @ivfjourney5 it's just so weird! Literally everything I used to eat a lot of has gone! I wouldn't look at the stats early on either. It's just a nice reassurance when you get to your scan.

@tikha my RA was in place already as I'm a teacher so it was needed for the ivf with covid. Nothing much has changed.

@TheGlitterFairy thanks, I always knew I'd likely get it bad as I get travel sickness which increases the chance. I just hope it doesn't progress to actually being sick! I've come close a few times but, touch wood, it hasn't happened so far. I might get try disguises my bits in a smoothie but I doubt it'll work. Fruit juice goes down well but that's probably because it's so sweet, I'd have to use a lot of sweet fruit in a smoothie I think. It is a good stat isn't it, hopefully we will be ok now 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I hope you are all ok and are glad that it's Friday like me! 😀

My latest thing is my back and neck are killing! I've been prone to back and neck injuries for years but this hasn't happened in years either, I guess it's because it's more easily done during pregnancy. I cancelled my last chiropractor appointment as I wanted to check with the midwife 1st but I'm now regretting that! I had to take paracetamol to sleep which I know is fine Id just sooner not IYSWIM. I've struggled through the pain today. I have also got a 10w scan booked in for the end of January 🙌🏻. Does anybody else have back/neck issues?

@MGee123 if you are in the NHS looks like pregnant woment won't be getting the covid vaccine.. am surprised that they didnt do the toxicology studies already. i work with covid patients as well but just try to minimize contact as well. Just wondering how to manage the long hours since am so sleepy all the time. These first few weeks are so uncertain just want to go through them as soon as possible.
@SpyroC must be hard working as a teacher at present. Are schools going to close soon for christmas vacation
@Mackie2020 glad to know its getting better. at present I cannot even imagine getting to that stage
@ivfjourney5 did you manage to get extra meds from the clinic
@TheGlitterFairy and @ChicaXS hope you are doing well.. and have the nausea under control
as for me apart from tiredness am doing ok.

MGee123 · 13/12/2020 06:51

Yes @tikha - it's not recommended for any pregnant women so I think we're all out! I was finding I was very tired and irritable last week. Hoping this week goes better!

@SpyroC I am getting back ache occasionally, like I do pre AF, but not really anything else. You poor thing. I think the relaxin release starts quite early so it may well be pregnancy related. Do you have a good desk set up at work? Occ Health referral might be worth doing if you don't have a great workspace? Make sure you are ergonomically set up well! If our scan goes okay on the 23rd I'm thinking I might book a 10 week scan too. 5 weeks seems a long time to wait for another update 😬 when will yours be?

My nausea was a bit better the past few days which worried me a bit, but I know lots of people said it can come and go. Boobs still sore and still knackered so not like all symptoms have gone 🤷‍♀️ will be glad to get to the 23rd!

Hope everyone else is well.

ivfjourney5 · 13/12/2020 09:56

I have enough meds to last another 3 weeks so I didn't bother ringing the clinic until yesterday which was OTD. They are calculating the amount I need and sending it out soon I think even though I've got just enough to get me to when I think the scan will be.
I had an episode this morning which was a bit worrying, woke up at 5am which excruciating cramping pain and went all dizzy and lightheaded, shivering and sweating, which then turned into retching but nothing came out! Lasted about 15 minutes before I felt well enough to get back into bed. I'm going to phone the nurses this morning as it seems more than just morning sickness but I doubt there's anything they'll be able to do about it as it's too early to see/check anything yet. Although I feel like I'm waiting for some kind of bleeding to arrive 😔

@tikha I can't help with the risk assessment sorry, I'm usually in a office but everyone has been WFH since March

@SpyroC aw you poor thing! I can really sympathise with the back issues, I was in a serious car crash a few years ago and really struggle, I honestly don't know how I'm going to cope in the later stages. I'm struggling now but stress worsens mine so I think mine is mostly just stress at the moment. My chiropractor said I'll probably need treatment with her to throughout pregnancy, and they are fine to go to but obviously tell them you are pregnant so they can tailor things for you. I hope it eases off for you soon!

tikha · 13/12/2020 12:58

@ivfjourney5 so what did the nurses say? Hope it doesn't recur..

ivfjourney5 · 13/12/2020 13:24

@tikha I couldn't get through to them! I tried the on call number twice and it rang about 4 times then said it was engaged! I've concluded that they wouldn't have been able to do anything today anyway so I'm going to ring the department tomorrow morning and see what they say. I'm going to have to stay at my mums tonight so I'm not on my own overnight in case anything happens again

ivfjourney5 · 13/12/2020 13:35

Ha typical they just rang me back, they were in an area with bad signal earlier which was why I couldn't get through. She's said just to keep an eye on it and take paracetamol if I need it
