Have added myself to this - hope that's ok?

On another note, is anyone here attempting a VBAC?

Soph73 · 15/10/2007 13:32

Hope you had a lovely holiday toastaddict, great to hear from you again EllieG - am currently working my way through an enormous bag of sweets so only have myself to blame really

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 15/10/2007 13:32

Of course its ok!!
I'm attempting a VBA2C, and I think Lemonaid might be too, I know someone else is.

Soph73 · 15/10/2007 13:34

Can I just double-check what VBAC stands for - is it vaginal birth after ceasarean?

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 15/10/2007 13:36

yES, SOPH, I'm sure Lemondaid mentioned some point that she wanted one, and I'm praying to be able to have one, as is paranoidmummy from what it seems. Not sure about anyone else.

Soph73 · 15/10/2007 13:40

Me too, but will speak to my midwife on the 24th & see what she thinks. I´ve got to try & find the papers they gave me stating why I had the emergency cs when I had DS for next week but can't bloody remember where I put them (we´ve moved house since then!)

paranoidmummy · 15/10/2007 13:46

same here Soph, except \I'm not even sure I was ever given the full reason as to why it ended up being an em cs. It all seems quite a blur now, I just remember ds's heart rate dropping, signing form etc and next thing I was in theatre. I should have prob paid more attention but it had been a long old 3 days!!!
Am meeting with my consultat next wk supposedly so maybe will shed some light. Will be nice to have some other ladies to share it with tho, I feel pretty daunted by the whole thing. Told you I'm a worrier

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 15/10/2007 13:49

Dependant on why you ahd to have the last cs, (btw you can ask your hospital for the paperwork on this) it shouldnt be a problem.

As long as you personally arent too small to give birth (which is unlikely I think) then you can have one. The way in which they cut you is also important, a normal cs scar has only 0.5% chance of uterine rupture,. which is why they might try to persuade you to have an elective cs.

As with peachy getting her home birth, you can have whatever labour you want.

I know theres a few people on here with lots of VBAC info, cant think who right now though (lulumama might be one) I might pop along to the vbac threads soon myself and see whats being said.

scorpio1 · 15/10/2007 13:49

Toast - where did you go? i live in Cornwall

I want a home birth this time, please!

ToastAddict · 15/10/2007 13:56

Scorpio - just south of Newquay. My SIL lives down there so had a lovely time. Great weather and hardly anyone on the beaches. My DH did the surfing thing while I used pg as an excuse to sit and read and eat delicious desserts!

scorpio1 · 15/10/2007 13:57

ooh, not too far from me. it is nice here i suppose, although NO decent shops until you get to Plymouth.

Soph73 · 15/10/2007 13:57

The reason I had the cs was because I didn´t dilate (only 1cm) & DS's heartbeat dropped to 5 beats a min. LOL at Lorayn - you obviously don't know what it´s like trying to get copies of anything from any Spanish office, hospital, etc

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 15/10/2007 13:59

Dont laugh at me I'll cry!!!

If it's dow to not dilating then AFAIK, it shoudl be fine. I'll go find someone from the VBAC threads to come talk to us.

paranoidmummy · 15/10/2007 13:59

Me too LoRayn. Want to make sure that I have all my facts straight before I go see my consultant! I'm determined to get what I want this time.

Hopefully, its not that I'm too small . I imagine ds was being awkward last time! Was pretty complicated in the end I think... lots of intervention.

I'll have a read up on a few threads. Thanks for your help

Sheds75 · 15/10/2007 14:00

Soph73, yes I'm a newby only got going on friday. Great forum, especially for first timers like me !

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 15/10/2007 14:04

I've posted ont he VBAC thread so anyone who wants to tell us all they know may pop along at any moment

Soph73 · 15/10/2007 14:16

Oh Lorayn don´t cry Should have taken into account the hormones & things - sorry {{big hugs all round}}

Soph73 · 15/10/2007 14:17

Sheds - yep it´s great being part of mn, especially when, like me, you live abroad

scorpio1 · 15/10/2007 14:24

arrghh how annoying.

Dss half term is next week, dcs the week after. guess im having a week off uni to look after him then.

Soph73 · 15/10/2007 14:55

Our half term starts on the 29th. Don´t think we´ll have any spare cash to do much but (and dare I say it) I think I may have to start thinking about Christmas (gulp!) My Mum, Step-Dad & Nan are coming over this Crimbo - can´t wait

scorpio1 · 15/10/2007 14:56

we have done kids xmas shopping already! i do love xmas.

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 15/10/2007 15:23

Hi girls! Had my nuchal scan today and risk of trisomies down to 1/2007 which I am relieved about. Saw baby waving its(his?) little arms around which was lovely. Nice to see movement even if I don't feel it. Am maybe going to ask my consultant about VBA3C on next visit but I think I know what I'll be told!

scorpio1 · 15/10/2007 15:34
Grin
Soph73 · 15/10/2007 15:37

Chipmonkey
Scorpio - do you fancy coming over here and getting us organised, am always dashing around at the last minute

scorpio1 · 15/10/2007 15:39

oh ok then! we did it so early this year because of pg, and plus last year i left til the week before and it was MAD i tell you! the last of the shoppping is being done in the first week of dec, and the food shopping i will go alone a couple of days before hand, and return when i am done! (which will be hours)
