The last thread seems a bit full so I thought perhaps it is time to start a new one

Hmm well not sure I deserve to be an inspiration given the no mattress ordered - the problem is, I have ordered a Mamas and Papas cot and they do 8 different mattresses to fit it - EIGHT !! Think I might have to plump for one in the middle unless anyone has experience of m&p mattresses (God its a minefield out there !!).

Cant keep up with which direction my baby is facing! It was transverse..and then breech...now not sure as he just goes nuts every evening and dances all over the place but I am sure he is not head down as all my kicks are low. 31 weeks today so still time to move..pretty please!

SnowmAngeliz · 13/12/2004 11:32

,ine too futurity!

The other night i swear it was sticking it's finger down as far down as it could and laughing at me!!!Grin

And i'm sure it's posterior as i get kicks right on my belly button!

futurity · 13/12/2004 20:41

This afternoon I have had some movement for the first time above belly button and below ribs...could it possibly mean he has moved round!!? Felt quite weird having movements that high up..I had to look at my belly to check and it wasnt long before I saw him swirl around. Why is it so hard to work out which way they are facing?..wish we could just look and know with some sort of sixth sense how they were positioned!

Hi - just popping on to this thread as I can't quite believe that its nearly a year since I had dd! DS was an August (end) baby followed by dd who was born Feb 16 04. Feb is a great month to have a baby because when you are emerging from the newborn fog, the days are getting longer, the clocks go forward and the weather is improving. I really liked the fact that I didn't have to spend months wrapping her up in snowsuits, hats and the like although did keep her out of the sun in the summer, of course!
Basically just wanted to say best of luck to you all . Not long to go now. I remember thinking this time last year that all I needed to do was get through Christmas, then work a few weeks and then go on leave.....it came round really quickly, and dd was a day early....
Will stop rambling now!

SANA · 14/12/2004 15:23

Hello all, just back in the office after 4 days off...........seems as if I am the only one silly enough to think that I will b able to work till 38 weeks, think will have to take it week by week, I am def getting more tired, the idea of going out shopping just seems to tiring, wish I had done my shopping earlier, might just go on the internet!! I am 30wks and havent really started thinking about the position of the baby as i thought u didnt have to worry about it till about 35wks?? I know in my last check the baby def was breech and sure it has not moved as it kicks pretty low down...........is anyone else eating like a horse?? I cant stop HELP

just checked no strech marks yet..............when do they usually appear??

I thought I was really good this morning I made some sandwiches to eat at lunch time but have already gone through them and now am hungry again, this really is not good!!

aloha · 16/12/2004 11:43

No stretchmarks yet (32 weeks) and only the teensiest ones low down last time even though I was pretty vast. But then I had ds by section at 37+5, and I have heard horror stories of no stretchmarks until 38-39 weeks, and then they appear! We'll see. Not the worst thing that could happen to a girl, I think.

futurity · 16/12/2004 13:05

covered in stretch marks from last time so can't tell where old ones end and new ones start!

SnowmAngeliz · 16/12/2004 13:42

Hi all, thanks Sallie.
This will be my second February baby and i too foind it a lovely time with dd.
Tipex, i only got 2 tiny stretch marks on one boob of all places!!!!!You can hardly see it, none this time so far!!

aloha · 16/12/2004 13:44

I've been dreading having a baby when it is dark and cold (ds born in Sept) so this is encouraging.

SnowmAngeliz · 16/12/2004 13:46

Aloha, i found it great as the first few weeks we snuggled in the house more and got to know each other and then Spring was on the way and she was nice and alert.

aloha · 16/12/2004 13:56

I can see that the fact that the days are getting longer instead of shorter will be good! I'm hoping for a beautiful, mild, early spring...

laa · 16/12/2004 15:11

Hi everyone. After 6 wks I have a kitchen so it's very exciting here- and a relief to not be washing up in the bath. With a huge bump it wasn't easy!! I've been DIY-ing like crazy and now am officially exhausted so am going to call it a day for a while - til Jan. at least. Baby is behaving itself nicely and is head down and very low down for 31 wks - maybe all the DIY?? Glad to report no stretch marks as yet. I haven't had any in myother pregnancies and neither did my mum or sister. I've heard that it's genetic and something to do with skin elasticity but have no idea if that's true or not. I am feeling very anxious about giving birth this time though. Daft really cos it's the 3rd time. But now I've moved I live an hour almost from the hospital , whereas before I lived 5 mins away. I also had an episiotomy with my 1st and a bad tear with the 2nd and I'm worried about tearing again. I know this sounds really silly, because I wasn't worried about labour with the 1st two and my last labour was very quick and straightforward. Maybe it's just hormones and I'll be so desperate to give birth that by Feb. I won't feel at all anxious.

Hazellnut · 17/12/2004 18:57

Hi all - Had a bit of a nightmare today - went for 32 week growth scan and they found that the abdominal measurement had slipped even more ... so the doctor was filling me with horror with talks of the possibility of bringing it out early (eg. 2 weeks time !!) - luckily a doctor who was a scanning specialist was around today so I had to go back and have some specialist scans to test the blood flow round the baby to check there wasn't a problem there - all these were normal and that doctor seemed more relaxed about the whole thing and thinks it is just genetically small (both dh and I are small). However, I need to go back in two weeks for a scan with the consultant who will then decide on what course of action to take ..... so may not be a february mum after all ! Just really hope they let me go longer than just another two weeks..
Am feeling much better after the afternoon tests though but think it might make for a worrying christmas and ... I think we are going to have to get organised very soon just in case !

bunjies · 17/12/2004 20:13

Glad to hear things were ok in the end Hazellnut. I know it's easy for me to say but try not to worry and enjoy your Christmas.

This is my 3rd pregnancy as well and funnily enough I'm starting to worry alot about the birth, and in particular tearing. I had a home birth last time which was amazing and I didn't tear at all. I am hoping to have this one at home as well so I have absolutely no idea why I am getting so worked up about it.

I'm thinking of having a birthing pool at home but can't decide what kind to go for, especially as the inflatable ones are so much cheaper. I think I'll post another thread to see if anyone has got any recommendations.

SnowmAngeliz · 21/12/2004 11:25

Hello all.
Hazellnut, hope you're not too worried and the next scan lets the baba stay in there!

Well, i've had an awful weekend. It started with pains on Friday which cut short a shopping trip and i've been achey all weekend.
I saw the midwife this morning rather than the 29th as planned. She did all checks and everything was o.k but the baby is still breech (now 31 weeks so still has plently time to turn i guess) which she said could account for my pelvis aching alot at the moment.
Hope you're all well

I'm very excited as I've just ordered an inflatable pool!! Should be arriving during the second week of Jan and the best thing is that I don't have to worry about giving it back as you get to keep it.

Finished work today for the Christmas break. Only got 4 working days left between now and maternity leave which starts on 17th Jan...hurrah!

Sorry to hear you're feeling rough Angeliz. I think we have all entered the most exhausting stage of pregnancy now .

futurity · 22/12/2004 16:09

Sorry to hear you are feeling rough Angeliz. I had my 32 week check up today and baby is still in awkard position (transverse) but the midwife was so not bothered. She said they move right up to the last minute and not to worry about it at all so I will do that..try and put it to back of mind until week 38 when I see the hospital again for checkup.

No other problems which is cool (last time I had protein in urine) so hoping all stays well. Also having baby doing hicups...I remember first time round I freaked wondering what it was but this time I know..still a very weird feeling though! Hope everyone is coping and looking forward to Xmas!

Nik72 · 28/12/2004 15:03

Hope you all had a lovely Xmas!
My mum & Dh had got together without me knowing & done a stocking with lots of little pressies for me & the baby - I was really touched!
Can't believe hown much food I managed to pack away...went for lots of walks to try & burn it off.

SnowmAngeliz · 28/12/2004 18:51

Thats nice Nik+

Hope everyone else enjpyed Christmas.
Mine was great, heartburn let up and didn't ache too much for Christmas and boxing day.
DD (3.10)had a great time and was a little angel and sang jingle bells (and if she wasn't singing she was humming) all day.
DP got me a heart monitor so i could hear baby's heartbeat but i havne't found it exactly, can hear stuff but not the heartbeat. (am not worried as this baby is SO active). Could see how it could become a tool for paranioa though!!!

I'm getting quite impatient to have it now.
Anyone else??
(Not really, i obviously want it in for a few more weeks but you know what i mean!)

Nik72 · 29/12/2004 20:29

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the moniter from & how much did it cost - was thinking of getting one for early labour but not if they cost an arm & a leg. Maybe the NCT could lend me one.
