For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Congratulations Winnie & Greedy ... lol about thename story!

For those of you about to pop, I have some added essentials you must buy before the birth ....

  • tea tree oil - 1 bottle - put a drop into a jug of water and pour it over yourself after weeing - will help to keep stitches / bits in general clean.

-witch hazel - 2 bottles - put on your pad to soothe your stitches!

-lactulose - 1 bottle (get from pharmacy) - to help things along with your first poo ... traumatic whether you've had a section (constipation from painkillers), or a vaginal delivery (first poo is almost as traumatic as the labour!)

-lansinoh - nipple cream - say no more!

Oh, and Colly, I'd never had a labour pain before ... and there's absolutely no mistaking them!

We went to register Mairwen's birth this morning, then went to show her off at DH's company - she was impeccably behaved, and stayed asleep of feeding the whole time we were out! Then we went for a very civilised lunch (they all go for lunch together every day where dh works) ... pity dh has to go back to work on Monday: we've lost this week really as he was still ill on Monday, and Tuesday - Thursday was taken up by sorting out the d@mnable kitchen tap!

I'll have to see if he fancies taking a couple of days off in half term ...

Have been out planting bulbs and window boxes this afternoon - Mairwen slept happily in her pram ... I'm going to pay for this tonight!

HI all,
Had GTT this morning but sure it's going to be normal.

Got up late and had a minor panic attack as couldn't cope with organising ds as well as getting myself to the hospital so dh took a couple of hours off to help.

Friend who is due on the 10th has phoned to say her lo is breech and now she has been booked on for a c/section on the 2nd. I am now NOT HAPPY with what is happening with me so am going to take Alice's advice and tackle the consultant with loads of questions on wed. I have between now and then to learn the mantra

I can talk to the consultant without crying.
I can talk to the consultant without crying.

Good to hear from you j20, hope things improve with shannon.
Ejt -Isn't it great showing them off!

speak later
x

alicet · 12/10/2007 18:53

Good on you muppet!

And remember even if you do end up getting emotional as long as you have written down what you want to say and / or havew dh with you its not the end of the world either - you won't be the first and you won't be the last. Fingers crossed you manage to get your point accross - I would be tempted to not leave until you have. If they can give you good reasons that YOU accept (not them telling you to accept if you see what I mean) then that is one thing - it may well be safer to leave well alone. But make sure they see you're worries as genuine ans reasonable.

Fingers crossed x

ejt1764 · 12/10/2007 19:03

Muppetgirl - I was about to write exactly the same as Alice ... although not as well!

It's ok to cry in front of the consultant - it's also ok to get cross and demand to see the consultant ...

Have fun writing your notes - try them out on us if you want ...

Dalrymps · 12/10/2007 19:32

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing ok!
congratulations to Winny and greedy!!!
Not much going on with me today, just suffering with a bit of back ache from my over enthusiastic hoovering yesterday.
Had my first visit from the health visitor who'll be assigned to me until Dylan is 5! Gave me a book of all the checks and immunisations he'll need - scarey and asked loads of questions to make sure i'm not lonely, in poor health etc. As she eft she said she'd see me again once the baby is here - wierd to think he'll be here so soon!

ChocolateHobnob · 12/10/2007 19:53

Hi all,

Winnie, those pictures are so cute! Can't get over how much Shula looks like her big sister at the same age! Thank you for posting.

Muppet, glad you feel strong enough to go and ask questions. Surely they could induce you earlier if you're as worried about the size as clearly you are - your mental health matters too!

Ejt, thank you for the tips... I will follow them!

Well, good news here - I had a scan and lo is actually still head down! Hurrah. Also he/she isn't OP - the position isn't brilliant because the head isnt entirely facing where it should be but should by the time I go into labour. The reason the mw was baffled was that the lo has curled itself around at a funny angle and got its bottom in an odd place - probably because I'm short and there isn't much space. They checked fluid levels and so on too and everything was pronounced absolutely normal so that's great.

Absolutely shattered though - lack of sleep kicking in. And could kill a glass or two of red wine!

Oh well. Have a good Friday night all if you can.

unicorn · 12/10/2007 23:43

oh, everyone has such lovely photos of their beautiful babes!

I'm awake now (after going to bed this pm at 7!)....great, my sleeping patterns are kaput.

Am really at that fed up stage now, and feel as though have been pregnant forever.

I also want to see babe.. as do my kids, so looks increasingly like it'll be pineapple/curry/sex time soon

anyone else awake?

Dalrymps · 12/10/2007 23:58

Hey there, i'm just about awake, was wondering were everyone was!
ad terrible backace all day and bet i'll have a crappy nigts sleep moan moan moan
how you doing?

Dalrymps · 13/10/2007 00:00

... by the way unicorn, i see you're due the day after me, wonder who'll pop first???

Dalrymps · 13/10/2007 00:09

Ah well guess you're off to bed, will be back some time tomorrow no doubt, see ya for now

unicorn · 13/10/2007 00:10

Hi Dalrymps, well am having lots of Braxtons, so hoping that is a good thing. Would prefer sooner than later now, my 1st went o/due and ended up induction and emergency C, so bad memories of being 'late'.
My son was on time (and at home - not planned just very quick!)

this one... who knows?!

How about you, is this first/second?

kitcoffey · 13/10/2007 08:09

Morning everyone! Congratulations Winnie & Family just lovely news x

MrsFish · 13/10/2007 08:16

Great pictures greedy I have a really cute one of ds1 with Ben, will post it soon. Sam is being great with him so far I have to say. Well last night was my first night of feeds since getting out of hospital on monday aren't I the lucky one My mum came to stay on tuesday and did three night shifts for me which has been fab, I had forgot how tiring they were till last night. DH was going to get Sam up quietly this morning so I could have a lie-in but Ben woke up early, so we all got up, quite nice actually, all 4 of us up for breakfast. I'll probably grab a nap later on instead, after the rugby of course

Well I am really peed off a bit the scales are showing I am only half a stone lighter than before giving birth, although Ben was nearly 9 pound and the placenta would have been another 1 or 2 pound surely??? I haven't been eating any more than usual... very disappointing, it is also quite frustrating not being able to do more exercise Ho hum, hopefully it will start to shift soon.

OP posts:
ChocolateHobnob · 13/10/2007 09:01

Mrs Fish, don't tell us that! I'm assuming all the chocolate weight is going to vanish when lo comes...! Maybe the scales are wrong... Hold that thought..

I'm all happy to have found out lo isn't breech and am set for a nice day mooching around Mamas and Papas and Borders (again) and then meeting parents for lunch somewhere. It was so nice to see baby yesterday on the scan - and now I know where its lying exactly, I can feel its little bottom right up by my right breast (apparently it's curled up oddly because I'm small so there isn't that much room).

I realize I still don't have real aches or pains and my only gripe is still the sleep (which is a major one) which makes me absolutely sure I'll be late. Never mind!

Hope you're all okay and have an okay day!

kitcoffey · 13/10/2007 09:16

Oh that is good news Chocolatehobnob, you must be so relieved.

Dalrymps · 13/10/2007 12:22

Hey again unicorn, this i my first so it's all new to me, no BH at all, just period type aches occasionally, i had them for 2 days continuously but now they've died down a bit... got a feeling i'll go overdue, don't feel like i'll give birth in 3 days but who knows?

alicet · 13/10/2007 13:09

Choc - great news about scan! Nice one.

Greedy - your pics are gorgeous! Marcy is very cute as are her big bro and sis. dd1 definately looks like her mummy!

I think ess hasn't been about for a while has she? Suspect after her sweep where they found she was 2-3cm she might be in the process of having her lo!!

Hello everyone else!

Well I'm a bit tired - had a 3 hour stint in the middle of the night where Adam would feed and go to sleep, go into moses basket, then wake just as I was getting to sleep. Very frustrating! Oh well - ended up with a reasonable amount in the end so not all bad.

This am we've been to Ikea to try and find a sofa bed - unfortunately either we don't like them or they're too big. Anyone know where you can get good sofa beds less than 180cm long with washable covers for not too much money?!

Will be watching the rugby too MrsF - can't believe we've been spawny enough to get to the semi's and NZ have been knocked out too!

Anyway may be on later if the boys let me - have a lovely day everyone...

Collywobbles · 13/10/2007 13:18

Hi All

just got back from Sainsburys and Mothercare - we've bought Baby Bjorn carrier thing - does anyone else have one? Are they any good? Couldn't decide whether to get one of those or the sling style one but in the end chose the BB cos it had back support...

Stocked up on comfort food from Sainsburys and and am now ready to settle down on the sofa for a day of sport and quality time with DH before LO arrives!

Hope everyone else has a lovely day

alicet · 13/10/2007 13:29

Colly I have a baby bjorn and I think its great. Has been especially useful when travelling - used to fly to mum and dad's a lot and made it much easier with Sam. Not used it yet with Adam - easier for us to have him in the pram as he sleeps then when we're out. Good buy though!

Enjoy your day...

Dalrymps · 13/10/2007 13:54

Hey collywobbles, we got a carrier, not te same one, a mamas and papas one but same kind of thing, think it will be really good for dh to wear when we walk the dog on the beach or even for going fod shopping etc
anyway hope everyone has a nice day, we're off to visit the MIL and FIL now, just round the corner so not too much effort.
Hope we hear from Miss B soon!

ChocolateHobnob · 13/10/2007 17:00

Greedy, I've just seen your pics. They're gorgeous. Marcy is beautiful and her siblings are gorgeous!

Colly/Dalrymps, we bought the same sort of carrier. Were going to get Baby Bjorn but in the end got a Mamas and Papas equivalent on promotion in their shop so it was a great bargain. DH is dying to use it.

Alicet, I reckon you're right about Ess! Looking forward to news.

Had a good day today - this morning pottered around Mamas and Papas and Mothercare - got pressies for lots of the small kids we know for Xmas - and Borders and Starbucks for the inevitable choc shortbread. Got lots more baby stuff - a baby gym, a swinging cradle seat thing, a Dreampod, etc. Then went out with my parents for lunch and onto a market town a little way from here for a wander. Just back.

Rugby tonight I spose - I am not a rugby fan but DH is. Hope you're all well!

ess · 13/10/2007 19:37

No....still here! Had rather awful couple of days. Woke yesterday at 5am in pain and had had a massive bleed. Had to get MIL over to stay with DD while we went to hospital and ended up staying in 24 hours, got home lunchtime.
They're not sure what caused it but think it may have had something to do with sweep I had. I was so hoping I was going into labour while I was there but no, this stubborn baby isn't ready yet!
So we've come home and I've had to unpack/repack bags-have drunk all my drinks/eaten all food that was meant for labour. Everything feels very imminent so heres hoping it's not too long.
Had awful night on ward- the delivery suite was full so there were 5 women in labour out by reception-nice!!Managed an hours sleep so going to have nice bath now, something to eat and sit and watch the rugby. Who knows, maybe if we win the shock will start things off!

Glad you're all well and take care. xx
