For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Morning All,

Well, my bug seems to have now developed into an annoying cough which kept me up all night so I'm well and truly fed up this morning! Does anyone know of any good cough remedies that I can take while pregnant?

Choc - your chilli sounds fantastic....even at 8 in the morning! mmmmmmmmmmm

Winnie is my bump buddy and I haven't heard anything from her, although that doesn't necessarily mean anything as last time she text, I was with my parents and so unable to post anything so she may be trying someone else now!

I've got a mw appt today so will see if there's anything that she can suggest to get rid of this stupid cough/cold whatever it is..

Collywobbles · 10/10/2007 08:07

PS - MrsFish - I meant to say, your photos are GORGEOUS!!!

ess · 10/10/2007 08:39

Morning. I'm still here. Choc, I had a sweep with DD and I think it depends where the cervix is. Mine was round the back somewhere so not very pleasant. Hopefully it will be ok this time.
Greedy and WTP have gone quiet haven't they? Hopefully that's a good sign. Well, DD is at childminders today so day to myself. Speak to you all later.

WinnieThePooh · 10/10/2007 13:18

Still nothing here.

I have made an appointment to see the midwife tomorrow. Hopefully I won't need it, but she may do a sweep if I do. Have also had an appointment through from the hospital for Monday. I seriously hope that I do NOT need that one though.

Good luck to everyone else.

I have the mobile numbers for a few of you now, so will try to text someone when it FINALLY happens.

ejt1764 · 10/10/2007 13:25

Hi all ... love to all those still waiting patiently and not so patiently!

I was 40 + 16 with ds, and the waiting was agony ... so I can sympathise - still can't quite believe it that Mairwen came more or less on time!

Haven't heard anything from Apricott ... she did say they were going to induce her if nothing had happened by this morning - I'll let you know when I hear anything!

ess · 10/10/2007 14:22

Winnie, what's the appointment for on Monday? You've got my number if you want to text me- no doubt i'll be around a bit longer!
DH just made me laugh. Said I was dreading seeing MW tomorrow and he said "oh yes, for your Supermarket Sweep". So if I do have to have it I'll just lay back and think of Dale Winton!!

alicet · 10/10/2007 17:04

Hello ladies! Good to hear most of you sounding upbeat if a bit frustrayed!

MrsF your boys are gorgeous!

Choc your chilli sounds gorgeous too!

Thinking of you all....x

ejt1764 · 10/10/2007 18:22

I've had a text from Apricott:

"baby boy arrived 4.22 this morning. Everyone worn out but fine. Details to follow. A x

fab news - congratulations to everybody in the Apricott household!!

ChocolateHobnob · 10/10/2007 18:41

CONGRATULATIONS APRICOTT!!! How exciting. Another baby...

I went to see the mw today. I knew lo had moved because my bump had changed shape completely suddenly and the movements felt different. Anyway... it turns out lo is either breech or OP - they couldnt tell. There were 2 of them trying to work it out, and couldnt. So they've booked me in for a scan on Friday at the hospital to see what's going on. Weird cos lo has been in the best possible position until now (3/5 for 6 weeks or so and anterior). Anyway the good thing is I get to see lo again on Friday! The bad news is it might be breech... I'm going to be back on all fours tonight for sure!

Otherwise it's been a tiring day cos was awake even more of the night than usual, so it's a lazy evening for me (on all fours!!!).

Hope you're all doing okay and looking forward to more news!

muppetgirl · 10/10/2007 19:32

Hi all!

Had a very awful day today...

Had the final growth scan which confirmed what we really already knew that Henry is still big. The sonographer told us that if I had walked in from the street and this was a'cold' dating scan she would have given me a due date of today and that Henry's tummy and head measurement is 41 weeks -I've still got 'officially' 4 weeks to go. She also told me that if her were to be born today that he is an estimated 8lb 6oz....

As you can imagine I was a bit taken aback to be told that I am, effectively, carrying a full term baby with 4 weeks to go.

We then went to see the consultant as arranged to discuss scan results and I thought this was to arranged the inducement at 38 weeks as previously discussed. We ended up seeing the registrar who was not the most symapthetic woman I've ever met and basically told me that 'we don't induce just for big babies you know'. By this point I had totally lost it and just sat and cried (and cried!) She told me I had sugar in my sample and that as I had now 3 -2 consecutive- that they now wanted to do a GTT test. So I am now booked in for friday. I was so uspet when we left that a midwife called me back in for a chat and then managed to arrange for us to see the consultant herself after a bit of a wait (that was soooo nice of her!) and she knew my history of pnd and my great fear of another big baby. She did her best to reassure me and told me that as Ollie was 9lb 1oz that I had done really well, that my body had coped (even if my mind hadn't) and that a possible 10lb baby should be fine....

I am feeling much better but my mind has now gone into overdrive and I can't seem to switch off.

Mrs Fish -your pictures are gorgeous!
Congratulations apricott!!

FloriaTosca · 10/10/2007 20:11

Congratulations Apricott
...and congratulations too to all those who I have managed to miss during my absence j2o, orange, alice, ejt, kat & Mrs F.(love those photos alice & mrsf)
lost you all for a while....that'll teach me to go awol while adjusting to the new life (stitches, mastitis, anaemia, piles and constipation and sleepless nights...as well as our wonderful Alex)....glad to find you all again and looking forward to seeing you all on the postnatal thread in due course.

Congrats Apricott
Sympathies muppetgirl - try and relax, (nice bath?)
Mrs Fish pictures are lovely
Choc - when do you start maternity leave, surely you should be taking it easy now?

Hi everyone else (especially those already popped) hope you are getting used to your new babes, and remember the difficult bits fon't last forever - honest!

I'm due next week, so planning on some more reflexology to hopefully move things along a bit. Feeling very heavy and tired now, and don't want to go overdue + into half term if at all possible.

fingers xxx for everyone.

Dalrymps · 10/10/2007 22:11

Hi everyone, i've just joined the site today, am due 16th oct and already feeling quite impatient! got to go for a second growth scan the day after my due date as they think my baby will be small, maybe around 6lb or just over, apart form that he seems fine ad healthy, ah well everyone has been saying 'you're so small' all the way through my pregancy so at least now i know why!

kitcoffey · 11/10/2007 00:29

Got room for a big one? Due on 22nd October and feeling big and niggly now. Got away with no swelling, in fact had a pretty easy time of it apart from the initial shock way back when as I was told 9 yrs ago no babies for me! Living in a new area and my Mum's away for a few months so feeling a bit vulnerable at the mo. It's nice to find this site and see all the fab and fun threads.

ChocolateHobnob · 11/10/2007 06:45

Hi Dalrymps and Kitcoffey! Nice to see newbies cos lots of the oldbies have popped already!
Kit, so fantastic that you got pregnant despite the medical prognosis!
And Dadrymps - I was 5 pounds something when I was born and was v healthy. Nothing wrong with a 6 pound baby!

I'm due 31 October (1st baby), scan tomorrow to see if lo is breech or not. Fingers crossed not.

Inzi - no news from you for a bit - are you okay? Ditto Greedy.

And Winnie?

Muppet, that sounds really horrible. Poor you, and what a horrible registrar. Presumably if the GTT test is positive, they WILL induce? And maybe Henry will take matters into his own hands and come early anyway? I understand the mind racing. Mine is too now, about the scan. I've started wondering about lo just because it has moved. Heartbeat was just below ribs and the hiccups it had in the night were just under my breast whereas they had been more or less into my pelvis.... Anyway big hugs to you.

Unicorn, sounds like a plan to hurry it all along... I'm still working till next week. I say working. Today I'm getting my hair cut. Tomorrow I've got the scan and yesterday had the mw. So my work isn't all that diligent!

Shattered, though, cos sleep remains elusive and now I'm worried about the scan! Haircut should help. Nothing like a haircut for putting me on a high.

Hugs to all.

ess · 11/10/2007 07:05

Hi all ...

Choc - who you calling an oldbie? hiya to the newbies ... see you on the other side!

Sorry to hear people are feeling uncomfortable and fed up - inzi - get yourself a heat pad (one of the wheat bags), and pop it on the bit of your pelvis that's hurting - or, if you've got a TENS machine, use the bottom 2 pads, and put them just above the crease of your bum - vertically, and about an inch either side of your spine ... the TENS machine was what really helped me with the pelvic pain in the last few weeks ... it's no fun at all

muppetgirl - honestly, am on your behalf ... why do some doctors get a sensitivity transplant?
Repeat after me: "my body would not grow a baby I could not birth" ...

the PILs are coming for a visit this afternoon ... MIL was very restrained when they came last week - she even asked before grabbing Mairwen ... there is hope! Let's hope that her good behaviour continues today!

muppetgirl · 11/10/2007 12:18

Congrats winnie -you lucky thing you

I am feeling a little better today, though still not happy about having to go full term with this big boy on board but hey ho.
I'm not convinced it's okay just to always take the baby's needs as paramount over anything the mother may be feeling though. Okay, I may have a 'roomy' plevis that could accomadate a larger baby but what about all the tearing and ripping that can go on to to deliver a larger baby? Doesn't that count for anything? Also I am not sleeping now and are extremly uncomfortable and in quite a lot of pain most of the time -how is this effecting my body now?
Also, I'm not asking to be delivered for frivalous reasons and not early either 38-42 weeks is seen as normal. I just can't get them to understand that another 4 weeks is scaring the s**t out of me! I also need to find out what happens if he doesn't appear by 40 weeks -Ollie was 11 days late- do I get the option of induction then? What happens if he's not 'ready' and induction would be pointless, are we talking c/section?

My psychologist has urged me to be quite pushy in getting answers even though a couple of different scenarios may be needed.

Am off to Starbucks now to fill my face with sugary crap....
speak later
