For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

i had a sweep at 41+2 and the mw said my cervix was still very high, but then i gave birth the next day...............so theres still hope!!

ChocolateHobnob · 30/10/2007 16:36

Hi all

thanks for the positive messages from the graduates! Lovely to hear from you.

Gemma/Colly, I will be offered a sweep at 41 weeks (am 39+6 today) and will decline I think, since I have yet to hear of one leading a first time mum into labour and I am squeamish about internals too!

Odd to think it's my due date tomorrow... Have had a crap day as electricians have been sorting out our house and it's taken all day and I hate having people in the house, couldnt nap because it was noisy and couldnt veg in front of television because they were mostly in that room and couldnt use computer cos electric was on and off. Feeling crap now, but have had a Wispa (will that help? maybe).

Hugs to all of you ladies in waiting! x

honeybobbingapple · 30/10/2007 16:44

Just got back from my sweep. Was a bit uncomfy, but not painful. MW was positive and thought my cervix was 'favourable'... also 2cm dilated, but this not unusual for third time mum. So hopefully something might happen in next 48hrs...

Hi Greedy!

kitcoffey- you never know, dont give up yet!

Collywobbles · 30/10/2007 17:36

Hi All

HoneyB & Kit - hope your sweeps work..fingers crossed for you that things get going soon!

Gemmamc - what did you mw say about being induced? was it fairly positive? i'm getting a bit nervous about going for induction on Sat as it doesn't look like anything's going to happen before then for me!

Choc - sorry you've had a crap day - a wispa will DEFINITELY help!

Hi Greedy! nice to hear from you - it's cheering to hear that you're 3 weeks on and being overdue feels like distant memory!

xx

MrsFish · 30/10/2007 17:44

Detsy - I had a membrane sweep at 40+4, it wasn't too bad at all, a little bit uncomfortable but no worse than having a smear test I went in to labour 12 hours after having it, would have been pleased but had been booked in for a c-section the following morning after finding out at the sweep that lo was breech

detsy · 30/10/2007 18:37

Hi All!

Thanks for all the sweeping discussions - feel much more comfy now. One of my friends had a sweep and went into labour later that day so I think I'll try it - be good relaxation/breathing practice anyway!! lol At least we can do without the duck billed platypus contraption....

I'm so so glad that I'm not the only one who is squiffy about internals - I thought I was a real loner on that one - big relief that there are a few of us!

I had a great sleep this afternoon and keep telling myself its because I need to rest as labour is coming.....hmmm yeah right

Weird isn't it that at the very beginning ofg preg we all fret about seeing blood every time we go to the loo and at the this end we want to see it as a how every time we have a wee - which is pretty constant

Well DP is busy on the internet booking his accomm for tomo night for business meetings...not sure I'm too chuffed about that but I suppose we could be waiting another week yet.

Anyway rant over - off to find something to scoff - have pleasant relaxing evenings xx

honeybobbingapple · 30/10/2007 18:49

Well having quite a lot of BHs and cramps... have fed DC... DP out with work, hopefully he will be back by 9pm... think I might get in the bath for a bit and leave DC in front of TV for half an hour... have to run the bath quietly or DD will try and get in with me... think I will stick extra lavender in to put her off just in case!

Detsy- cant believe your DP will be away for a night at this stage! I hope he wont be too far away just in case.

Not sure what I think of the prospect of having a halloween baby .

detsy · 30/10/2007 19:22

Hi Honey B
Go enjoy a good soak girl - I've already had one today but may have another, soo love being in the bath!

I keep getting BH but then they go off again in an infuriating manner

DP will be in Reading - we're in Cheshire so only about 3 hours away.....good huh! Neighbours will just have to be on stand by along with mum!

I'm not sure about a Halloween baby but you can get some great pumpkin theme babygros!!

alicet · 30/10/2007 19:37

Hello all!

Baby brain means I can't remember everyones posts but sending you all big hugs...

Gemma just wanted to say congrats on your positive attitude - you are right it will stand you in good stead... And ejt went into labour after acupuncture!

Can't remember who was asking but I have a couple of friends who went into labour after sweeps - personal choice though...

snig · 31/10/2007 08:20

MORNING ALL
well today is due date and our van has broken down, hurray !!
apparently when dp went grocery shopping last night it just started peeing out water everywhere he had to keep stopping to top it up. perfect timing but i remember last time when i had ds sitting in a garage "leaking" all over there seats waiting for alternator thing to be reattached.
anyway still hoping things are gonna happen today, would love a halloween babe. good birthing vibes to you all

Hillbilly · 31/10/2007 09:52

I'm not a regular poster here but have been in and out during my pregnancy.

Anyway just wanted to say that my ds was born last friday at 41 wks. We were home from hospital within 8 hrs and slowly geting used to life with 2 dc!

Collywobbles · 31/10/2007 10:40

Congratulations Hillbilly! I'm very jealous

I'm now 41+3 and still no signs of LO arriving - boo! I've started a thread on the childbirh section asking for any positive stories about being induced so if anyone has any, please share!

xx

Thanks inzi and collyobbles.

Inzi - I had a sweep last Thurs and it was not uncomfortable at all. I was alreay getting some mild cramps and then went into labour a few hours later so whether it was the sweep or not that did it I don't know.

detsy · 31/10/2007 11:37

Hi Ladies
Congrats HillBilly - well done you!

No news here, no sign of anything happening and to cap it all TV just gone on blink in midst of Flog It!!!!

I'm right behind you Colly - 41 weeks today but think I can forget the pumpkin babygro outfit as not a sausage happening today - maybe a guy fawkes one instead.... Still u don't have long to wait till Saturday!

So the only thing to do is some unneccesary retail therapy, going quietly mad with cabin fever here at home. So off with the joggers and on with something more yummy mummy (yeah right )

Have nice days today and fingers crossed for everyone still hanging on in there!!
xx

honeybobbingapple · 31/10/2007 11:42

Congrats hillbilly

Well... thought it was all going to happen last night, lots of cramps etc... but NO! However, on a more positive note, had a show this morning! I know it doesnt mean labour is imminent, so I am trying not to get too excited.

Planning a little halloween party for DC and cousins and probably some kids from the road...

Thinking November baby now...

detsy · 31/10/2007 12:27

Sounds promising honey! Maybe you won't make the Halloween party.... I'd forgotten about that - better get some sweeties for later I spose (bah humbug... )

Right I'm off to get eye lashes dyed - can't be birthing with silly blondey ones as look half asleep (which I am most of the time..)

Good luck honey!!

J20DemondaughterandDevilbaby · 31/10/2007 13:09

just popping in to say hi and good luck everyone.

hope those that haven't popped yet are still going to be on the Oct antenatal thread, you all have 11 hours left before your in to November!

alicet · 31/10/2007 14:54

Hello ladies! And congrats hillbilly.

Thinking of you all...

ChocolateHobnob · 31/10/2007 16:06

Hi all

Congrats Hillbilly! Do you have a name for your DS yet?

Honey, that does sound promising - have you had any more action?

Inzi - not long now and we will be November!

I had another crap night's sleep - I'm not getting more than 2-3 hours. Felt like death this morning... made some choc brownies with white choc chips and then my parents took pity on me, turned up and took me out for lunch and a wander round some shops. I didnt buy anything but managed to find shoes and a jacket for my mum...

Back now and shattered again - it's pathetic. Going to try to have a sleep but I find that hard, too (daytime sleeping). This bodes so badly for the future...!

Good luck everyone with an October arrival!!!

Apricott · 31/10/2007 16:08

Hi October ladies

I'm thinking of you too. These babies will come soon, even if it doesn't feel that way. And once they do, you're in for some fun! My LO weed in his ear the other day! That'll be something to remind him of when he's old enough to blush .

On sweeps - it wasn't as unpleasant as a smear in my experience.

Congrats Hillbilly, and good luck everyone else! Must go, the little beast is stirring in his pram and it's time for a feed.

A x

detsy · 31/10/2007 17:26

Hi All
Any developments Honey, Inzi, Choc - nothing here. Eyelashes much better don't look as awful now!

Home alone tonight so maybe something will happen....seeing as it would be inconvenient!!

Good news on the sweeps - if its not as bad as a smear I think even I might manage that!

Off to iron things x

WinnieThePooh · 31/10/2007 18:04

Congratulations Hillybilly.

To the otheres yet to have their LO's I hope they arrive soon and you are all well.

gemmamc · 31/10/2007 18:37

Hi all,
just to say I have been having contractions all day. This morning I wasn't sure whether they were "it" but in the afternoon it became pretty ovbious. They were getting stronger and more regular....hurrah......but now things seem to have slowed down (which is why I manage to write here) - - - thinking of having a bath to see if it helps.

Any advice?

Anyway, it may or may not be the real thing yet, but certainly acupuncture has helped to kick something off....

detsy · 31/10/2007 19:03

Hi Gemma
Sounds good! I heard keeping mobile and upright is good - get on your ball and bounce! But sounds like things are moving for you - good luck and if you don't post again, we'll assume you're on the way to meeting LO! Gosh how exciting
xx
