For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Hey everyone just popping in to update before i go to the hosp gona drop the dog off at PIL's then set off at 3.30 as it's just over an hour away. Still having irregular pains but not regular enough to actually be ready to go in to hospital to give birth.
Anyway I phoned the midwife and she said to go in at 5pm anyway and they will do an internal to assess where i'm at and then decide whether i still need inducing or whether they can just leave me to it . Thanks for all your 'good luck' messages, hope you're all doing ok, inzi - sorry to hear about yor ear, that sounds terible hope it's better soon.
Will let you al know how it when when lo is here

alicet · 29/10/2007 13:36

Good luck dal! x

gemmamc · 29/10/2007 15:57

Oh no, inzi - that's terrible. I hope you managed to speak to the GP, he prescribed something and you feel better.

Well, I had not mentioned this so far because I didn't want to sound like I am the queen of bad luck, but perhaps now's the time - I've had a horrible problem with my ears on and off for several weeks now.

First I had an ear infection in the left ear, and now I have it in the right ear. The current cold seems to make it worse. On the positive side - I can assure you I am managing the problem reasonably well with paracetamol to get rid of the pain and using olive oil drops in each ear to get rid of the wax (reccomended as a temporary solution by the GP!).

For my left ear, I was also given a local antibiotic (Otomize) that worked quite well and is ok in pregnancy for short periods of time. For the right ear, I am just waiting to give birth and then I'll have to have a swab to decide what treatment to get (probably an oral antibiotic).

Sorry to hear you are going through this. Keep your spirits up....this is not forever...

ChocolateHobnob · 29/10/2007 17:45

Inzi and Gemma, poor you two! Sounds like you've had a horrible time. Inzi, what did the GP say? have you got a prescription?

Kitti and Dal will be in hospital now! weird thought.

I've felt crap today - first time for ages. Just tired from crap sleep and a bit sick and no energy. Had friends round for lunch and managed to entertain but since then have been a bit zombified. Suspect have been overdoing it so this week is just going to be calm and rest!

Hope you're feeling better, Inzi - and ditto Gemma.

Hi All
Wondered if I could join in on the October due team? Only just found mumsnet and seems to be a great place to let off steam and compare notes! I was due on 24 but no signs as yet - snore bore....

Trying very hard to be patient but finding it a bit tiresome!!

Seeing midwife tomo - hopefully be a decent one and not the droopy knickers useless s*d I've seen the last few weeks.

Anyway let me know if i can play??!

Thanks

Dets
xx

ChocolateHobnob · 29/10/2007 19:28

Hi Detsy, do join in! I'm due on Wednesday, so not overdue yet, but starting to feel the pace and can't imagine it going on another 2 weeks or more which realistically it could!

Inzi, what a PITA that you can just take cocodamol/paracetamol and nothing more. Poor you.

Well, I'm still tired. Managed to make penne with chicken, pesto and rocket for dinner and am going to slump in front of the television for a bit next... hope I actually get some sleep!!!

Hi - thanks! But i don't shop at the Metro centre as I'm further south - more like the Trafford Centre!

Inzi and the others suffering with earache - a really good tip is to use heat - if you have a wheat bag or a hottie it will really ease the pain.

I'm trying to get head into gear and accept that fact that babies come when ready. Trouble is its soooo tiring doing "anything" and then I get cabin fever in the house and end up feeling sorry for myself again [hmmm]

ChocHN - your tea sounds scrummy - we had traditional meat and two veg, lol followed by angel delight that i found in the back of the cupboard.

Watching Fanny Hill later - that may get things moving!!

Good luck all and talk soon x

alicet · 29/10/2007 19:51

Welcome detsy - I had my ds Adam nearly 4 weeks ago but keep popping over to chat to these lovely ladies... Look forward to seeing you in postnatal.

Inzi and gemma youe ear probs don't sound like much fun... Hope it all gets better soon.

Choc sorry to hear you are struggling honey. Hope you have better sleep tonight so you can feel more human tomorrow...

Thinking of you all! xxx

MrsFish · 29/10/2007 20:34

Hi Detsy

I was 4 days late and that was driving me insane, but then found out at 40+4 that ds was breech, so ended up having an emergency c-section, he is 4 weeks old on friday, I can't believe how quickly this month has gone, its quite scary.

Thinking of all you ladies that are still waiting, hopefully it will be over soon, but enjoy it while you can, I was as impatient as you are but believe me its bloody hard work when they arrive and you can wave goodbye to your sleep, so just to re-iterate, rest rest rest and get as much sleep as you can

Hey Detsy! Welcome to the gang

I've still had no progress today - I keep thinking that maybe I'll get at least some BH contractions but no....

Inzi, Gemmanc and Choc - so sorry that you're all feeling so rotten. I hope you have people around who can spoil and look after you.

xxx

gemmamc · 29/10/2007 22:12

Inzi, don't feel bad for moaning - sounds like you had horrible pain. The good thing is that ear ache can be horrible but it generally goes within a few days. I've been having it on and off but as I said, with paracetamol and an "accepting attitude" to the fact I sometimes can't hear much seems to be ok. The GP is probably right about the fact it normally clears by itself. In my case, he did a swab though because it isn't clearing after all these weeks, and they found a bacterial infection...hence the idea I may need antibiotics later...

Obviously the combination of being a bit deaf, on top of not being able to walk much because of SPD has made me at times very pissed off and it has undermined my self confidence a bit. BUt you know what? I've also learned a lesson....to be more patient and accepting about things that constrain my freedom to do things and move around. I think it's probably a useful skill to have once the LO arrives...

I am also trying to use the newly-found patience skill to accept the fact I am overdue.

Tomorrow I will try acupuncture... we'll see. Lots of people say it can work for induction. I am sceptical, but worth a try, I suppose...

ChocolateHobnob · 30/10/2007 08:19

Hi all

Gemma, sounds like you've had a tough lesson to learn but it was worth it! Hope acupuncture is useful or at least relaxing today.

I think I've been fighting off cold - hence feeling crap - I had slightly more sleep last night although still nothing to feel rested by. Today am going to just do very little - we have an electrician coming to sort some stuff out so probably will have to do very little as I can't be making batches of food, even on a gas cooker, while the electrics are off. I am fine, though, really - yesterday was a one-off and the first time I've felt awful like that since the first trimester. My due date is tomorrow, which feels a bit surreal. Then I'll be joining the overdue ladies club!

Detsy, I've been to the Trafford centre once... it's kind of the same as the Metro centre...

Hi Mrs F and thanks for stopping by. I appreciate I need to value my rest, just wish I could manage a bit more sleep while I have the chance! It's a design fault!!!

Have a better day everyone - maybe we'll get news of Kitti and Dal soon?

snig · 30/10/2007 08:33

MORNING ALL
my due date is tomoro and all over weekend have been having period like aches in lower back but nothing else so far, hoping baby will make an appearence soon as friends who are looking after ds when we go into to hosp. are goiing away over weekend. have to go into see consultant today as i have missed last two appointments due to forgetfulness and really don't feel like driving any more so my dad bless him is going to drive me. anyway hope everyone has a good day.

WinnieThePooh · 30/10/2007 10:06

Morning everyone.

Welcome to the newbies. I hope you all have your little bundles of joy soon.

I also went 4 days over my due date and was getting really fed up. Shula is now 19 days old (where has the time gone).

Enjoy your "ME" time before your babies arrive as I have found there is not a lot afterwards.

Collywobbles · 30/10/2007 10:50

Hi All - well, 41+1 and STILL nothing! Starting to think it's just wind afterall...

DH is getting increasingly disgruntled each morning when I haven't gone into labour and he still has to go into work!

I'm feeling pretty fed up with it all today -I guess I have to keep reminding myself that if the worst comes to the worst, I'm being induced on Sat so the end's in sight no matter what....

xx

Hi girls
Just back from AN appt. Booked in for hosp check on Friday - scan, monitor etc and a membrane sweep, hmmmm. Has anyone had one of those - bit squiffy about internal exams (great phobia to have at this stage

Now 40+6 so got a cut off point of a week tomo, woo hoo!

Hope all the ears are feeling better this morning!

Fingers crossed for all those due and past due

xx

Collywobbles · 30/10/2007 12:38

Hi Detsy - I'm just the same with internal exams and so I actually declined the sweep. I figured that as it wasn't guaranteed to even do anything, I'd save myself the trauma!

Of course...the downside is that I'm now still waiting and maybe I wouldn't have been if I'd had it...who knows! I think I'd still make the same decision though.

honeybobbingapple · 30/10/2007 13:26

Hi everybody... I posted very early on, on this thread... but found it tricky to keep up with everyone, so I havent posted for donkey's years. I was officially due on saturday, so that makes me 40+3 I think??
This is baby number 3 for me...

I too have been having cramps and twinges for ages, and keep thinking... IS THIS IT?? Have tried to relax and just wait for LO to decide his own birthday, but it's hard!

Am planning to have a home birth this time around.

Detsy- I have a MW appointment in an hour and think she will do a sweep... so I will let you know how it goes . I had one with my DD, but by then I was a week overdue and was already 3cm and the sweep didnt hurt at all. Hoping will be similar experience today.

gemmamc · 30/10/2007 13:49

Hi!

Detsy and Colly - I've declined the sweep as well, although I think I already said this last week. I also thought that if it's not guaranteed to work I would save myself the hassle and pain. I hope I did the right thing.

Today I went to acupuncture. The woman was nice (and she is also a midwife at my hospital, so gave me a good briefing on what is likely to happen if I'm induced) and it was all very relaxing.

I came back and had a 2-hour sleep. She said she can't guarantee it will work, but it should at least reduce my stress levels. I do feel great now (before going this morning I was crying to my dh that I am fed up and worried....so quite a bit of difference there).

Honeyb - I used to find it really hard to keep up with this thread as well and didn't post for ages. Now that's it's a just a few of us it's easier. Hopefully we'll all soon be on the post-natal thread anyway!

gemmamc · 30/10/2007 13:54

In fact, does anyone have a good experience of having a sweep? I mean, does it ever work?? I certainly haven't yet heard anyone say it actually worked for them, but it could just be I haven't spoken to the right people....

kitcoffey · 30/10/2007 15:46

Hi everyone, just come back from a sweep. Fed up now. 41+1 now and just found out that despite 4 weeks of Braxtons, cervix still behaind babies head and it's a 50% chance of labour unassisted.

Humpf. Sweep itself OK so not to worry bit like a smear only less so x

Welcome newbies!

greedygreedyguzzler · 30/10/2007 16:30

hello all! sorry to all of you who are ill and overdue. its crap going overdue isnt it? i have been overdue with all three of my dc and it was most frustating this time round!
my little marcy is 3 weeks old tomorrow and now the 'overdueness' is a distant memory!

good luck to anyone who ends up getting induced. you will all have your babies within the next few weeks so nobody has too long to wait!!!
