For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Hey everyone, happy birthday colly! inzi - sorry to hear you're feeling so rough, hope you turn the corner and start feeling better soon!
Kitti - looks like us 2 are in the same boat, will try my best to send you my most positive labour vibes!!! If we both end up being induced i'll see you on the other side! I have to go in between 5pm and 6pm on mon and they'll start me off then. No more signs for me really, just still getting a bit of a show now and again but not going anywhere.
Ah well, hope everyone else is doing ok, off to bounce on my ball again, starting to think it's not actuallly making much difference...

Muppetgirl - at your friend, blimey, to put that into perspective that's a pound and a half bigger than Ben is now, 3 weeks after birth

Hi all

Did it happen on your due date Inzi???

Muppet PLEASE don't tell me stories like that! I have no idea how big lo is and I can't start worrying about it being that big!!!

I had a crap night - my psoriasis is terrible, all round the bump, and so am itchy as can be. Plus those stupid BH were going half the night - they annoy me because they don't actually DO anything useful, they don't hurt but they do disrupt sleep so I am bah humbug today.

However I am off to the Metro Centre, mecca of shopping, to flex my credit card, do some Xmas shopping, maybe look at some stuff for me (like winter boots... that don't depend on how much weight I lose after lo is born...) and generally mooch. I'm going to Tesco first and going to get a chicken to roast for dinner tonight.

Am seriously less energetic than yesterday but shopping always spurs me on.

Good luck all you overdue ladies! Am thinking of you all. Will be me soon!

Inzi get to the GP and get yourself sorted out it can be miserable. Things like certain strains of penicillen are fine with baby and will clear you up, I am sure you will not be given anything that will harm LO, but you need to be fitter. Go to induction appt. you don't have to do as they say, you can listen and tell them what you want to happen. Take it easy as you are going to worry more when you feel low and vulnerable. Feet up and that's an order!

Hello ladies!

Sorry to hear you're still feeling so crap inzi - thinking of you. I have a cold as does dh and both ds's so all is not great in our house at the mo. However I don't think I feel anything like as crap as you - jsut glad this didn't happen 3 weeks ago or I'm sure I would have burst my stitches with all the coughing!!!!

Dalrymps and kitti - thinking of you both over the next couple of days - hope neither of you need the induction but I guess the plus side is that you both know that by one way or another you will both be mummys in the next couple of days! Look forward to hearing your announcements and seeing you over in postnatal....

Muppet OMG at your friend!! Still ladies - if she can push that out in 2 hours and only need 3 stitches there is clearly little point in worrying about lo's size! I have to say that I have heard that big babies are actually EASIER to push out as they are better at wriggling a bit to help themselves along than diddy little ones....

Colly happy birthday for yesterday!

Choc - you are too kind! I was wearing a nice dress admittedly when I went to meet her but only because the only maternity jeans that aren't uncomfortable were in the wash and I thought I'd take some of my own advice about enjoying wearing the maternity clothes I love before its too late! Look I'm sporting today is definately more scummy than yummy - sexy breast feeding nightie with milk and soup stains at 1pm!!! Ummm!

Thanks to everyone who posted in my thread about my sister's pressie - thanks for your suggestions! Much appreciated.

BIL SIL and their dd have been up for the weekend which is why I have been too busy to post - it was great to see them all esp sil out of hospital and doing great. Their dd is a gorgeous contented little girl who is making me seriously think about switching to bottle feeding - so think in many ways it is much much easier. Not the time to decide though when shattered as Adam not sleeping great with his cold.

GOOD LUCK to all of you! Not much longer of Oct yet so in the next 2-3 weeks even allowing for overdue babies you should all have your lo's!!

Dalrymps · 28/10/2007 13:03

Hey everyone. Inzi - good advice from Kit, glad you're following it! Choc - hope your shopping cheers you up and you get some lovely boots, i love the metro centre . Well 41+5 here, tried a bit more nipple tweaking but generally just given up, the lo is comfy where he is so as it's my induction tomorrow evening i'm trying to mentally prepare for it instead of being in denial that it's going to happen! At least i'm finally going to meet my lo, the stubborn little monkey . Has anyone got any good induction storeys to cheer me up? Anyone been eating Wispa's? I've been eating loads! apparently they'd been gone for 4 years before they came back recently, didn't realise ot was that long but sure am gad they're back yum yum. Hpe everyone else is doing ok. catch ya later

Dalrymps · 28/10/2007 13:07

By the way, kittiwake, if you've haven't popped already then good luck with going in for the induction tonight, will be thinking of you, start mine at 6pm tomorrow so 12hrs after you, maybe you'll have your lo by then?

ChocolateHobnob · 28/10/2007 13:12

Hi all

Inzi-poor you - do go to the doctor's! You need your strength to get lo out!

Dalrymps, I love the Metro centre too. At work people think I'm mad for liking it - all my workmates do hikes in the country and think the Metro centre is the centre of evil in the universe! I've been, and didn't get chance to look at boots - got a couple of nursing bras in Debenhams (their selection is way way nicer than John Lewis in town - they have ones that are almost pretty!), some make up in Boots and a cookbook for me and the same for my sil in WHSmith. Oh and coffee and a cookie, obviously.
I've been addicted to Wispas! I don't think I'd had one since I was a kid but they are soooo good straight from the fridge.

Re induction, you never know, you might go into labour spontaneously today. Keep hoping.

Colly, how was your bday?

Alice, glad your bil and sil and baby were all fine. Must've been fun in your house!

Kit, hope you're okay. No sign of Gemma for a while - maybe lo came?? and Kitti - you go into hospital today, don't you - GOOD LUCK!

Kittiwake · 28/10/2007 14:31

Hi all

Will be going into hospital in 4 hours or so for my induction - although they don't actually start doing anything until the morning. Feeling pretty sad that nothing has hapened but there's still tonight I guess!

Dal- massive hugs to you hope something happens for you tonight and yes see you on the other side seems unreal after all this waiting that this is actually going to happen now doesn't it?

Inzi - hope you are feeling better
Colly - hope you had a good birthday
Choc - thanks for the good luck

Hello to everyone else and see you all on the otherside

ChocolateHobnob · 28/10/2007 16:47

Hi Kitti

Just to say well done for the positive thinking - it could still happen overnight and I'm willing it does for you!

Anyway the exciting thing is you'll soon have your lo with you. Please come and tell us about it! It's exciting!

Hi All

thanks for all your birthday wishes - I had a lovely day. Kept it low key with just family but they all made me feel really special and it's the most normal I've felt in ages

Inzi - poor old you sounds like your flu has been really bad. The blood doesn't sound nice - I'd definitely get checked out by your GP and hopefully they can give you something to finally get rid of it!

Kitti and Dal - GOOD LUCK!!! I'll be thinking of you and your inductions. These days I think inductions are much better than they used to be and you can still have a positive experience....AND you'll me meeting your LO's REALLY SOON!!! My consultant told me that women who are induced at around this time generally have more positive birth experiences than those who wait for it to come naturally afterwards...that's what I keep telling myself to make myself feel better about induction date next week.. Can't wait to here how it all goes. I'll be thinking about you both loads over the couple of days.

Hellos and Hugs to everyone else!

gemmamc · 28/10/2007 17:20

Hi!

Choc - thanks for noticing my absence. No, nothing happening unfortunately...

It's just that I've been taking advantage of the weekend to get out (it's easier with dh - when I am alone during the week I tend to stay at home or just go out very locally as I am not very mobile and I feel insecure wandering around London looking like a whale on crutches.. and believe it or not I do still have to actually ask people on the bus to please give up their seat... )

Went to the cinema yesterday (to see "Sicko" - a great film about the US health system which made me really really grateful we have the NHS here although things may not always be perfect...)

Today lunch with PILs...

Also had an interesting phone conversation with a friend in Belgium following a similar conversation with my mom (in Italy). It seems that in some continental European countries they have a much more anxious approach to being overdue and doctors tend to induce a lot more frequently and sooner (Belgium) or monitor you every day from 40+1 (Italy). My friend was insisting I should ask for induction ASAP and I struggled to explain that here people tend to try to avoid being induced. Strange!

Anyway, for those who wanted positive stories on induction, she had a really good experience with dd1 (which perhaps explains why she thinks induction is a good thing rather than a bad one). Very quick labour, with a 17-minute second stage (and painless, thanks to epidural) and no further intervention apart from the oxitocin, obviously.

Dairymps - what this thing about bouncing on the ball? Is that supposed to help? I've got a ball but so far I've only used it because it appears to help for back pain (a bit).

Inzi - go to both appointments!! get the cough checked out. Worst case, if they can't give you anything now, they will have a plan on what to give you right after the birth. But there may be something you CAN take.

Dalrymps · 28/10/2007 17:40

Hey everyone, been listening to my hypnotherapy cd so feeling very relaxed now . gemmamc - all i've heard about the ball is that its a good position you have to sit in when your on it as you're not slouching and you have to keep your legs apart to balance which opens your pelvis up, then you can wriggle or rock about and also it's a good position for taking pressure off the bottom of your back. Apparently it's really good during labour for people wanting to stay mobile but also for before to sit on whilst watching tv etc as encourages baby in to good position etc. I'm really just hoping if i sit on it enough the lo will be more likely to move down ready for birth and also will be good practice for when i'm actually in labour. Sorry to babble on about it . Well dh is finishing work at 8pm instead of 10pm tonight so we can be nice and prepared for tomorrow. Hope everyone is ok, will try pop back on before my induction tomorrow, catch ya later

Dalrymps · 28/10/2007 23:27

Oh i have been having irregular stomach pains for last few hours and just had a bloody show, maybe something will happen before i'm induced after all? don't want to get my hopes up though but will keep you updated if anything else happens

Dalrymps · 29/10/2007 01:25

Update, still geting pains, more regular now, about every 5 mins although occasionally 9 mins apart so not totally regular, mostly lasting about 35 secs, hope this is it, we'll see...

ChocolateHobnob · 29/10/2007 06:38

Hurrah Dal - sounds like it is it! I hope it was - how brilliant if so.

Hugs for you anyway cos it's going to happen today whatever, isn't it!

Dying to hear about more babies - keep us posted.

Collywobbles · 29/10/2007 09:20

Oooh Dal I'm so pleased for you!! Can't wait to hear how it all turns out All that bouncing paid off after all

I'm still not showing any signs of going into labour and am now 41 weeks..still I had a really good night's sleep which always help morale!

A lazy day today for me - the house needs a bit of a tidy up after my birthday weekend of visitors and I'm going to do my online grocery shopping (very strenuous!). Other than that, I think some serious sofa time is called for...

xx

gemmamc · 29/10/2007 10:33

great Dal - good luck!

Collywobbles....same here (one day behind you at 40+6). I am just going to enjoy the sunshine today and relax. Perhaps I'll try bouncing on the ball, though....give it seems to have worked for Dal!!
