For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Inzi and Gemmanc - so sorry for you guys with your flu - it's miserable! When I had mine, I kept taking paracetamol and I also rubbed on loads of Vicks and used Olbas Oil to clear my nose. If you have a vapourisor they're absolutely great too! Finally - before going to bed (or during the day if you like!!) I made a hot todday with a shot of rum, lemon juice and honey to taste and hot water - it really soothes your throat and the alcohol helps make you feel a bit more relaxed and dosey for sleeping....in theory anyway!

Well, I'm hoping that LO holds off for a couple more days now so I can keep my b'day for myself. No great plans as I'm not really up to much at the moment...my parents, brother and inlaws are coming for the day tomorrow and we were going to go for a nice walk somewhere -but apparently rain is forecast so may have to re-think that plan! Probably get a takeaway in the evening and indulge in a glass or 2 of bubbly! I've always been a big kid about birthdays and although this one has been largely overshadowed for the last week or 2 (normally, I would have been driving everyone around me insane by my constant countdown), it is so close now that I'm really excited and it's actually taken my mind off the constant wait for something to happen. I think I'm going to put a ban on talking about it tomorrow - although not sure if the grannies will manage it!

Choc - how big is your freezer?? All those meals sound absolutely delicious - I'm very jealous!

Well, better go and get dressed - possibly have an old school friend popping by today so should at least be decent!

xxxx

Hi all - phew have changed format back that was confusing

Dal - thats a good sign anything else happening with you today?

Colly hope you have a lovely birthday weekend and good luck with keeping the MIL of the baby topic!

Gemmac it does get really hard to fill the time doesn't it actually even when I think of things to do I have to push myslef into having the motivation to do them now but it does make the time go so much faster. Sorry you are practically housebound that must make it even worse at least I hae been able to get out and about.

Nothing going on here still can't believe that I am 11 days overdue today!!!!!! why doesn't this baby want to come out? It's nice that I am a comfy home but this is getting ridiculous now. Have eaten a whole pineapple this morning ad 2 cups of RLT so far!

Good luck to everyone else still waiting.

Dalrymps · 26/10/2007 12:17

Hey everyone 41+3, nothing happening yet today, really putting all my energy into trying to talk my body in to delivering the lo but no sign of contractions as yet... at least i've had a show, just hope it happens before the induction on mon bt if not i don't have much chioce really, well, i do have a choice but i can't wait any longer than that, i think 2 weeks over will have been plenty time to try going in to labour naturallly. Sorry to hear people are getting colds and flu, what an inconvienient time to be falling ill, i thought i was getting a cold yesterday but it seems to have dissapeared now .
Well i'm off to buy a new washing basket cause we threw the old one away when we moved house and the bedroom looks like a laundrette, catch ya all later

ChocolateHobnob · 26/10/2007 12:17

Hi all

Dal is quiet!! and she did have a show - wonder if this means anything??

Kitti, I can imagine how frustrated you are. I am planning all sorts of things for next week (I'm 39+2 today) but I guess the novelty'll have worn off the week after! I'm willing your lo into action!

Gemma, I'm sorry about the SPD and flu. I am having an easier time - can still get out of the house - am having coffee with Alicet this afternoon and then have lunches booked in next week with friends, so am not housebound yet. I am also nesting - going on maternity leave late probably helps me not feel so frustrated as I haven't had long to think about it all. How was the consultant today?

Inzi, poor you - I dont know what you can take - hot Ribena??? Hugs - you're having a horrid time.

Colly, mmmm sounds nice. I'm poss having takeaway tonight and am positively craving wine. I think it might be cos I've got a bottle open to pour into all my culinary concoctions!

We have 2 freezers... well one freezer and a big fridge freezer. I'm making shepherds pie at the moment. Then later I'm meeting Alicet for coffee - and Adam! How exciting to think I'll meet a real lo from this thread.

Sending you all good vibes from here!

ChocolateHobnob · 26/10/2007 12:18

Hi Dal

Cross posted. Glad you've had a show, hope contractions start soon. Fingers crossed for you!

gemmamc · 26/10/2007 12:49

Inzi, for my cold I am just trying to get as much rest as possible - napping definitely helps - and I do take paracetamol sometimes even if I don't have a high temperature. It really does make me feel better - and it helps with other SPD pains...

Otherwise I'm afraid we just have to be patient...

Sorry for those who are now over 41 weeks. I hope your LOs arrive soon. It makes me feel silly for being worried as I am "just" 40+3. The consultant today was reccommending waiting until next week (when I get to 40+10) before booking an induction because everything else seems to be fine. He did say that because I am in pain due to SPD I could get induced earlier if I wanted to, or just get a sweep.....but was clearly trying to discourage me from both (he described what the sweep was in such a graphic way - and even showed me what he would do with his fingers! - that he really put me off!! My husband kept on looking at me with an alarmed face! Men!).

In the end I think I did the right thing in not doing/booking anything. Hopefully something will happen this weekend or early next week....

I also got a pair of crutches from the physio department and so far they seem to help a lot. I may even be able to go for short walks again or for quick shopping trips - and that will surely help to cheer me up! I feel more optimistic now!

Nice to hear Choc and Alicet are meeting in real life! Exciting!

unicorn · 26/10/2007 13:28

hi all.. very quick post as lo is latched on permanently at the moment (and it has been hurting like h*ll!) he has been quite agitated/ not sleeping etc, so very tired.. but I keep repeating mantra 'this will not last' and hopefully will get through!

Sorry to all the still waitings (try posting on that thread I started asking for collective power of MN to help! - it worked for me)... but do make the most of it, as you really do have hands full once the lo arrives.

Anyway we have a baby name now.. Ronan Thomas.

Will see you all soon hopefully on the postnatal thread.

Lots of positve vibes to you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

muppetgirl · 26/10/2007 13:36

What has happened to mnet???

I am quiet for a couple of days and everything changes.....

Right, I have had the yucky headcold thing and just could not be bothered with anything. I even went to the dr yesterday as I was secretly hoping that they would have a secret weapon of a little something that only prgt women could have if they had a cold. -Unfortunately not!

My dr said that anything paracetemol is fine so I've been having beechams sinus thingys and they have worked in so far as they have stopped the sinus pains I was getting, along with the teeth/jaw/neck pain.
Steaming didn't work as I was too bunged up to even breath in effectively. Not sleeping AT ALL and, stupidly, started crying on wed night which made things a whole lot worse!

Cleaner just gone so house is at least clean, although our black lab rescue dog had a fit of the scaredies and became aggressive towards the lovely lady cleaner and had to be shut outdoors. Am currently waitng for IL's to bring Ollie back. Will go back and try to work out how to read the past few posts, hope all is okay

Ladies I'd appreciate your help here if you have time! Not read new posts yet - will catch up later but hope you're all well...

alicet · 26/10/2007 13:49

Hello ladies! Well have had a chance to catch up now - looks like no new babies. Can fully understand most of you not wanting to take advantage of the time you have left and are just impatient for your lo to arrive - can totally understand that. You feel pretty crap and knackered at the end I guess - I felt better even a couple of days after my section than in late pregnancy and I only got to 39 weeks. So I'll quit with the 'helpful' advice and just send you a big collective hug instead.

J20 - sure you can't have been paying attention when I was moaning!!!! Thanks for telling me how to change the board back though!

Anyway just waiting for Adam to wake for his feed before I go see Choc - if he doesn't wake soon I'll just head to the coffee shop and feed him there. He is in the pram already as we went and met dh for lunch so all set!

Catch you later....

gemmamc · 26/10/2007 17:43

Oh no alicet, of course I didn't mean to say your advice was not helpful or welcome! It's always useful to hear some advice, even if one has to adjust it to one's one specific situation...

Thanks for the collective hug, anyway....

kitcoffey · 26/10/2007 18:46

Hello all I hope you are all well!!

No baby yet, sweep on Tuesday if nothing happens before that, will now get used to new format and catch up on the last few days I have missed.

ChocolateHobnob · 26/10/2007 19:04

Hi all

Dal's quiet again...? Anything? And Kitti, too?

Glad you're okay, Kit.

Sorry about the cold, Muppet! everyone's in the wars at the moment, aren't they?

And nice to hear from you Unicorn - nice name, too...

Well Alice's little Adam is simply gorgeous. He was a little angel all the time, looking round, eating, not crying. He's incredibly cute!! Made me broody and scared all at once. Still no idea if my lo is a boy or a girl. Some people have instincts - I don't!

Oh and she is lying when she says she hasn't got makeup and nice clothes on - she was doing the yummy mummy thing today! and her baby bump has more or less vanished.

Chinese tonight yum and a quiet weekend ahead... probably Borders and coffee and cookie... I am so sweet toothed at the mo!

kitcoffey · 26/10/2007 19:11

Am flipping the thread, each time I check in, does anyone know how to set it up permanently?

kitcoffey · 26/10/2007 19:14

Oh it's OK have figured it out! x

Apricott · 26/10/2007 19:31

Hi ladies,

Just a quickie while dh changes LO's nappy - sure my unique services will be needed soon after he's done.

Hope you're all holding out ok. Just wanted you to know you're not forgotten. It's just that there's no time with a tiny baby around to read the thread - had a quick scan though, and gather there are no new babies as yet.

Take care all. Looking forward to hearing of new arrivals soon

A x

Dalrymps · 26/10/2007 23:00

Hey everyone, still here humf... i've got until 5pm mon to get the lo out or it induction time. I'm willing him to come out with all my might but nothing, have been getting more period type pains this evening but nothing to get excited about, hope they get stronger! Hope everyone else is doing ok, off to bounce on my ball again, catch ya later

ChocolateHobnob · 27/10/2007 08:55

Hi all

Hope one of these los has decided to get moving during the night!

DH has a headache this morning, probably because he's had a mad week at work. Decided we need a lazy weekend pottering around shops somewhere, and watching TV. Need to curb some of the energy I've got though and save it up for when lo comes.

Hugs to the overdue brigade x

Collywobbles · 27/10/2007 09:24

Morning All - well no broken waters or contractions in the night so hopefully my birthday is safe from giving birth! It feels odd to think I'm no longer in my 20's..

DH brought be a cup of tea in bed this morning - and more importantly, my prezzie! He gave me some gorgeous perfume and a beautiful necklace

Dal - I REALLY hope that bouncing works and that those period pains turn into contractions TODAY - it's a great day to have a birthday I'm sending you all my labour vibes so you can have a double dose for the day and I can stay immune till tomorrow at least!

Choc - sounds like a lovely day planned - enjoy!

Muppet, Gemmanc & Inzi - hope you all had better nights and that your flu is on the mend.

Alice - hope you got some good advice on your sister's prezzie!

xxxxxxx

Thanks Inzi - don't feel too bad about the paracetamol. I was taking it 2 or 3 times a day when my flu was at it's worst and my midwife said this was fine! Don't feel bad about the hot toddy either - I was having those too - only I'm a rum girl!

Kittiwake · 27/10/2007 10:25

Morning everyone

12 days overdue! Still nothing happening here I have until 7pm tomorrow when I am going to be admitted to hospital and they are going to start the induction on Monday morning at 6am!!!! still at least the clocks change this weekend so it will really be 7am seems a mad way to do it to me as I am sure I will sleep really badly at the hospital on the Sunday. Still musn't give up all hope still another 48 hours for things to kick off by themselves.

Going to go to shops now my lovely DH is going to buy me some treats and some lunch and then off to PIL's for slap up meal and firework display tonight maybe that will kick things off!

Happy Birthday Colly hope you have a really great day today hello everyone else, hope those who are feeling poorly are on the mend and everyone has a great weekend.

Most of all positive labour vibes to you Dal hope something kicks of for you today.

MrsFish · 27/10/2007 13:08

HappyBirthday Colly

Inzi - hope you are feeling better soon. My cold hasn't materialised as I thought it would must have chased it off with the cold and flu tablets that I took at the first sign. I do have an horrendous throat though, its ok swallowing normally but as soon as I try to eat or drink something it really hurts, it feels like I am swallowing razor blades, never had a sore throat like it before its quite bizarre

Well I have been out this morning, on my own in the car first time I have tried driving and felt fine. Not bad for three weeks in from a c-section

ChocolateHobnob · 27/10/2007 13:38

Hi all

Just to say good luck Kitti and well done for the positive outlook! Glad you can still have a fun day.

Mrs F- well done with the car! You sound like you're doing great.

Inzi, poor you with the flu (and Gemma and Muppet). I'm getting a cold today and am determined to fight it off. Have had chocolate chunk shortbread and a pub lunch with fruit juice; am going to have a nap, eat loads of grapes, read, and refuse to get the cold. Have been round a few shops and spent some money, mostly on baby (!) and am going to have a chilling evening with the X factor.

Colly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Have a great day!
