For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Ladies, sorry to interrupt... if any of you are in Merseyside and thinking about breastfeeding, please click here

... if you're not all wolfing down the pineapple and raspberry leaf tea that is!!

Dalrymps · 24/10/2007 19:22

Hey everyone, colly- good luck for tomorrow, if they do offer a sweep you don't have to have one anyway, it's up to you, i was a bit nervous about it too, i think it's the name of the procedure that is most scarey, sounds horrid!
Nothing happened yet anyway, just more period type pains, i'll be really naffed off if the sweep doesn't work but at least i've got until mon. Bouncing on my birthing ball -again... catch ya all later

ChocolateHobnob · 24/10/2007 19:34

My mw has said I can have a sweep at 41 weeks and induction at 42. I'm hoping lo will come before then... but perhaps not tomorrow as I need more time to cook and rest...!

Dal, hope that ball does some good!

Inzi, still sending hugs.

Muppet-you've gone quiet - any news?

Dalrymps · 24/10/2007 19:41

choc- sounds like they're giving you plenty time to get going by yourself so thats good, here's hoping your lo comes soon

ChocolateHobnob · 24/10/2007 21:35

How are you doing Dalrymps? I bet you're glad you've got till 42 weeks for induction too. I would really rather avoid it if possible...

Hope the ball bouncing went well and has some effect.

Dalrymps · 24/10/2007 21:39

Doing ok thanks choc, had a rest from the ball but back on it now. As you say it'd be best to avoid induction if poss. I'm trying to stay positive, fingers crossed!!!

ChocolateHobnob · 25/10/2007 06:43

Fingers still crossed for you Dal... and Kitti...

We haven't heard from KitCoffey in a while have we???

Steppemum - any news from you?

I've had another crap night's sleep - lo's fault this time, seemed to think it was time to party - but am full of energy and am going to clean the kitchen cupboards and then do some more cooking! Oh and sleep...

Collywobbles · 25/10/2007 10:28

Morning! 40+3 and still no news from me - I've got my appt at the hospital today so maybe I'll get more of an idea of what stage I'm at...

Choc -I'm most impressed with all your cooking - so far all I've managed is a big batch of tomato and chill sauce for the freezer. I had big plans to make loads of meals to freeze but just don't seem to have found the energy!

Dal - anything from you today? Did the bouncing help? Hope so!

xx

Dalrymps · 25/10/2007 11:48

Hey everyone, choc - sorry you didn't sleep so well, hope you get a chance to catch up on some more sleep at some point today, enjoy your cooking! Colly - hope your appointment goes ok and they can give you some idea of where you're at, hope it happens soon for you! Hope everyone is doing ok too.
I can't believe i'm 41+2, never expected to go this overdue... Had some quite uncomfortable aching, sore pains last night, felt kind of like lo was pushing down on my cervix, hope he was and that he appears soon, just have to wait and see i guess, catch ya later

Kittiwake · 25/10/2007 15:11

Hi all 41+3 today went to see midwife this morning and cervix is still closed and 'very posterior' so am resigning myself to possibility of induction on Monday but hoping something happens in the meantime..... Midwife said she managed to touch the edge of cervix so there is a possibility it could do something. Have stomach ache now but that's all. Have been drinking raspberry leaf tea, bouncing, eating pineapple, having sex, driving over speed bumps! I am thinking of going to a firework display on Saturday as a last resort

Dal - hope those pains lead to something for you are you going to have another sweep?

Colly - hope your appt was helpful.

Choc- Hope you get a btter nights sleep tonight, sounds like you are in fine fettle though!

Inzi - hope you are feeling better today.

Collywobbles · 25/10/2007 16:55

Well, I'm back from my appt and it was fine! They offered a sweep but I declined so they just took blood pressure and urine. The consultant measured my bump and commented again on what a 'good sized' baby it is -'that's no 6 pounder is it?' he chuckled...eek!

I've now got an induction date of 3/11 (a week on Saturday) - just hope it happens naturally before then.

OK ladies for all of you waiting (esp applicable to first time mums) here are things you should enjoy while waiting for your lo to arrive rather than getting p*ssed off with them for being late!

OK so sleep isn't going to improve but time for rest is. Enjoy the 'me' time that will soon be in short supply....

Wearing nice bras - nursing ones are the most sexless items I have ever seen

Taking time to pamper yourself - do your nails, wash, dry AND straighten your hair

Go to the toilet without a lo watching you

Get up and dressed before lunchtime - savour shopping when the shops open before bedlam hits in the afternoon

Enjoy a meal that needs 2 hands to eat and needs to be appreciated while hot rather than cold / lukewarm or reheated.

Wear the maternity clothes that you actually LIKE - I had a couple of items that I am actually sorry I am never going to wear again.

OK so theres a few things to appreciate and that I miss! Really feel for you ladies who are overdue and appreciating that I probably don't know how frustrating it is as I have never been there but I always think its helpful to focus on the positives! Feel free to give me a slap if you think this is just irritating advice from someone who doesn't know what its like but it wasn't intended like that!

ChocolateHobnob · 25/10/2007 19:43

Just wrote a long message and it got eaten! Grr.

Alice, can't help remembering how much you moaned about being pregnant!!! That said you probably do have a point. Though I am sorry to say I'm a real scruff today.

Inzi - hugs - hope you feel better shortly. Wouldnt have been good for lo to arrive while you've been sick - maybe it'll come now.

Dalrymps - still bouncing??

Colly, what do you have planned for your birthday? anything exciting?

And Kitti, sorry you're still posterior. There's still time, before Monday, though. And in any case I would plan something nice for the w/e - something you couldnt have done if lo were here.

I overdid it today - baked a cake, cleaned some cupboards, walked to Tesco and dragged back too much shopping that I actually struggled to manage, made a ricotta and lentil moussaka and then a chicken, pumpkin and chickpea Tunisian casserole. And now am zonked!

Good luck with all the los coming soon!

J20DemondaughterandDevilbaby · 25/10/2007 19:47

inzi-glad your feeling slightly more human, can't believe its nearly your due date!! that has passed quickly!

Ha ha sorry Choc you are right I did moan a bit! Think you were joking that I am a saint too J20!

What has happened??!!?!! HATE this new format!

J20DemondaughterandDevilbaby · 25/10/2007 20:33

nothing can truly prepare you though inzi. good and bad hope your flu goes away soon

alice, i so was not joking, i can't remember you ever moaning! you was just nice to everyone else!

J20DemondaughterandDevilbaby · 25/10/2007 20:33

ps-Alice go to customize talk board to change it back and stop moaning about it!

Dalrymps · 25/10/2007 20:39

Hey everyone 41+2 here, not been bouncing on te ball today yet, popped in to town to get some more raspberry leaf tea and then sepent aft at PIL's ad had tea there whilst being constantly asked if there were 'any signs' yet... oh yeah, i'm actually in labour but thought i'd not mention it , they mean well but must realise it'd be obvious if i was about to give birth!
Anyway i have been having a show today, been coming away in bits all day so hopefully it's a sign something is happening although i know it doesn't actuallly mean i'll go in to labour anytime soon.. off to bounce on the ball now and drink some more raspberry leaf tea, Hope everyone is doing ok, catch ya later

ChocolateHobnob · 25/10/2007 21:28

I thought I had pressed something and changed the format!! It's gone back to normal now hurrah.

Dalrymps - that sounds really positive! Fingers crossed for you.

Inzi, you'll get your energy back and get there. Your brother is being a typical man. At our NCT class one man was talking about a friend of his and her account of labour and he said 'she's such a wimp though needing an epidural'! As if he was going to be tested!

Good night everyone and Dal - maybe you'll have news tomorrow!!!

gemmamc · 26/10/2007 08:16

hi all, I'm 40+3 and I am seeing the consultant at the hospital today....

I am trying to stay positive also because I know this could go on for a while, but......alicet..... I've got the flu as well as massively worsening SPD, so no going around town or shopping for me. Actually I am hardly leaving the house now apart from travelling to the hospital for checkups...

I am just going from one room of the flat to the other and from one type of chair to another (they all hurt - although the best option appears to be to sit on the ball), and the only thing I can do to treat myself now is have an afternoon nap. I suppose that's a good thing to do...but it is frustrating to be so housebound.

I am trying to do things I enjoy anyway, like reading good books, listening to music.... Yesterday I edited a video we made at a wedding with some snazzy Apple editing software we bought (I-movie). I feel very creative, and ready to make some fun videos of the LO! I am also trying to use the spare time to call people I haven't spoken to for a while, and have long chats with them....

MrsFish · 26/10/2007 08:24

Right - back to classic version, I feel better now, didn't like the new version
