For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

congratulations unicorn well done!

ChocolateHobnob · 22/10/2007 21:19

CONGRATULATIONS UNICORN!!!
Babies on this thread do all come at once! Looking forward to hearing more.

Kitti, poor you. But presumably even if the cervix is closed now it could change quickly before next week! Positive thought!

Gemma, they panic at the bp and protein thing, I think. I wouldn't worry about the sugar - won't that just depend what you've eaten?! I eat loads of sugary things now that don't in normal life, so to speak.

Dalrymps, hope it happens soon for you, too.

I have just boxed up and frozen everything I cooked earlier... and feeling most goddessy but shattered, am going to bed! Take care, all.

WinnieThePooh · 22/10/2007 23:10

Congratulations HMP, nellie and unicorn!

I hope everyone is well. Those of you that are now overdue, hang in there. I went 4 days over with Shula and she is an excellent sleeper, so hopefully you will all be as lucky as me.

kitcoffey · 23/10/2007 06:56

Fantastic news Unicrone, well done, details when you can, enjoy your LO x

kitcoffey · 23/10/2007 06:57

ooops meant Unicorn sorry!

Dal you next!

Collywobbles · 23/10/2007 09:32

Morning All,

40+1 today - after feeling positive all day yesterday, I've woken up feeling really fed up today! This is probably due to having had a v. disturbed night because of our nightmare neighbours again. This time, instead of a party, it was a massive fight which seemed to go on till about 2am both in and out of the house! Grrrrr

I ache all over this morning and feel bigger and more cumbersome than ever.

Sorry for the me, me, me post - moan over for now!

Kittiwake · 23/10/2007 10:36

Hi everyone hope everyone had not too bad a night.

I am feeling more positive today after yesterday's nightmare ( I went for a sweep but midwife couldn't do it as cervix was 'very posterior' i.e not ready in the slightest).

Have got some good advice elsewhere on here and seems that everything could change very suddenly so I am trying to focus on this and not think about horrible prospect of induction next week.

Colly that sounds awful with neighbours, as if it isn't difficult enough to sleep already! The end is in sight as I keep telling myself.

BettyBatShapedSpaghetti · 23/10/2007 10:56

Honor -just popped over from the Worcestershire thread to say Congratulations on the arrival of Rosalyn! Love to you all

ChocolateHobnob · 23/10/2007 11:12

Hi all

Kitti, glad you're feeling more positive. I can imagine how frustrated you must be - try and think positive. Maybe plan some really self-pampering things for the next few days to give yourself something else to think about (and sod's law lo'll come!).

Dal, any news?

Colly, poor you. Our street can be noisy sometimes in the summer when they like to congregate for a drink and it wound me up in August. Never mind that DH kept joining them! But fighting must be horrid.

I'm off for lunch and pedicure today! very decadent! more later...

alicet · 23/10/2007 11:17

Choc enjoy your pampering today! At least work won't be able to get to you there!!!

Hello to everyone else....

Dalrymps · 23/10/2007 22:59

Hey everyone, not in labour yet! It's been a long day for me today, went for routine monitoring of lo's heart rate and they thought it was 'ok' but there were a few 'dips' so they wanted a 2nd oppinion, this meant i had to travel an hour to wansbeck hosp for them to monitor me again (if still not happy they were considering inducing me today ), so my MIL took me and my dh met us there from work. They checked again and said baby was perfectly happy! The consultant also wanted to know why it had been suggested to induce me at 7 days overdue rather than the 2 weeks, i explained i'd rather not be induced but this had been sugested as they thought lo was small, the consultant had a look at the scan report and said baby was quite a good size and that if i wasn't happy being induced on fri it would be fine to treat me as normal and let me wait until mon instead when i'll be 2 weeks, i was happy and said i'd rather do this and give myself a chance to go into labour naturally if no probs with lo. They offered me a membrane sweep whilst i was there and i accepted, midwife said cervix was posterior (at the back) but 1cm dialated so at least thats something! Here's hoping it works! So i'm back in bed now and knackered from all the travelling so going to sleep. Hope everyone else is ok. catch ya soon

ChocolateHobnob · 24/10/2007 07:52

Hi all

Quiet here... Dalrymps, glad all went okay yesterday. And glad you don't have to be induced on Friday - and if you're already 1cm that sounds good, doesn't it? Hope the sweep works... I think I'm going to be too chicken to accept one, as they scare me, and I'm easily scared!

My pedicure was lovely - my feet were cleaned and oiled and creamed and massaged; then the nails were done and painted lovely pale pink varnish.

But exhausted again today I had a bad night's sleep - lo went psychotic as I tried to go to sleep (this happens sometimes) and had a mad hour where it just kicked and wiggled and made me feel sick (it's not meant to have enough room to be this active at 39 weeks but it seems to have!). Then from 2 am I had pain, like period pain, in a band around the bottom of the bump and emanating from the back. It was like waves - I think it was sort of practice labour pains and can now vaguely imagine what early labour might be like. Went on for hours and then petered out so finally got to sleep... am absolutely fine today though! totally normal.

Off to midwife later; in the meantime am taking it easy (ie sitting on the computer, reading, writing letters). Going to make a nice veggie chilli this afternoon to freeze again.

Oh and am excited because my mum brought me my shawl from when I was a baby, so our lo will get to wear its mummy's shawl!

Have a good day. And good luck overdue ladies - and Inzi, hope you're okay!

Dalrymps · 24/10/2007 08:59

Hey everyone, choc - glad you enjoyed your feet being done, hope you catch up on some of that sleep you missed, those pains sound promising, your body must be getting ready! The sweep wasn't too bad, it is totally your choice whether to have one though. I would say it wasn't as bad as going for a smear, just a bit of uncomfortable poking but was over in about 15 secs tops. Glad i did it though cause feel like i've tried something to get things moving, although whether it works or not is another storey! Well i'm still tired from yesterday so i'm off back to bed for a nap now dh's set off to work. hope everyone is doing ok, catch ya later on

MrsFish · 24/10/2007 09:09

Have a god sleep, and here's hoping things get moving for you soon. Ben decided to kick things off 12 hours after my sweep Oh and savour your sleep, you won't be getting much ones lo arrives

ChocolateHobnob · 24/10/2007 09:35

Hi Dalrymps, enjoy your nap and hope the sweep works.

Thanks for the info on it. I don't need one yet as am just 39 weeks today. I plan to spend tomorrow cooking so am sat on computer now compiling list of recipes to cook and freeze! I did bolognaise and chilli on Monday, want to do veggie chilli later but have found some chicken recipes via the Good Food magazine site too. Am trying to be organized!

Kitti has gone quiet - maybe news from her???

Kittiwake · 24/10/2007 11:18

No news from me I'm afraid other than no news!!!!!

feeling more positive though as still have 5 days to go and they are going to try another sweep tomorrow. Been keeping myself busy meeting friends for lunch and yesterday planted 150 bulbs in my garden!!!!!

Hobnob cooking sounds great I did exactly the same a few weeks ago I can barely open my freezer drawers now as stuffed full of lasagne, chilli, soup and fishpie! was very satisfying but DH thinks I am mad - he won't say that when he is eating it though. Shawl soundslovely such a nice thought. Sounds like BH are getting going for you I had some last night too but very mild.

Hi Dalrymps have been reading about you hectic day elsewhere no wonder you need a nap! at least there was some dilation and hope this kicks things off for you. At least you have a bit longer now for things to get started.

Dalrymps · 24/10/2007 14:01

Hey everyone, feeling a bit more human after my nap. Took the dog out to try and march the lo out. got stomach ache but not progressing asyet, fingers crossed though, am bouncing on my birthing ball as we speak ans drinking raspberry leaf tea. Gonna listen to my hynotherapy cd in a bit in the hope that if i relax something will start happening. I just can't wait ot see what my lo will look like . Hope everyone else is doing ok, kitti - hope things get moving for you soon, sending positive thoughts, choc - enjoy your cooking, i have frozen some stuff too, sure in will be realy handy once lo is here!
Catch ya all a bit later, off to eat some lunch cause i don't think the nutella sandwitch i had earlier counts

Hi all

Inzi POOR YOU, that sounds horrible, hope you get better quickly and look after yourself! What a crap time to get the flu.

Dalrymps - stomach pain sounds positive, no? Enjoy the walk and the bouncing.

Kitti, that energy must mean something will happen v soon for you!

I saw the mw earlier, my normal one, and she was lovely. Basically lo isn't in a fab position but isn't either OP or OA - though is engaged - so could go either way in labour and no point in stressing about it now and scaremongering. She was v reassuring and made me feel better.

Came back and went to sleep and am about to set to making veggie chilli.
Take care everyone! x

Dalrymps · 24/10/2007 15:17

Poor you inzi, hope you feel better real soon, I really feel for you, can't imagine having flu on top of all the other pregnancy niggles. (((((((((((sending healing thoughts)))))))))))

alicet · 24/10/2007 16:34

Inzi honey thinking of you! Look after yourself - will be crossing my fingers that lo stays put until you are feeling better...

Dalrymps - fingers crossed all will get moving now after your sweep and great that you don't have to be induced till Mon...

Choc - practice pains sound promising! Enjoy your time off - food sounds fab and its a great thing to do - we are still working our way through our stash in the freezer that I made in advance of Adam's arrival!

Can't now remember anything else so apologies if I haven't mentioned you personally - thinking of you all!

Adam is doing great - he's had a bit of a cold and was pretty miserable yesterday but has been much better today and Mum and I have been out with him into town for lunch and he got weighed this pm - 8lb 15oz so he has put on 1lb in just over a fortnight!

Anyway - hope to see you on postnatal soon....

Dalrymps · 24/10/2007 17:35

Hey alicet, glad to hear you're getting on ok, sounds like Adam is thriving! Hope to see you on postnatal soon

ChocolateHobnob · 24/10/2007 18:06

Alice - I emailed you about meeting up.

Veggie chilli tastes yummy - it's a Nigella recipe I'd not tried before - but it's very nice indeed (I can't resist sampling my cooked efforts!).

Am thinking I might make some cakes, too, and freeze in slices, so I have sweet things to eat and give visitors... I'm enjoying cooking. And reading. The tidying is more tedious.

ChocolateHobnob · 24/10/2007 18:06

Oh and should have said Alice - well done on Adam! That's fab!

Collywobbles · 24/10/2007 18:13

Hi All

just had a lovely day with my cousin and her little boy - my godson. They live in Sierra Leone but have come over for a visit so it was lovely to see them!

Choc - I feel just the same about having a sweep. I'm a big baby when it comes to smears so the thought of a sweep really scares me too...

Dal - thanks for your description, doesn't sound so bad when you say it like that and like you say, at least you're doing something to get things moving.

I've got a hospital appt tomorrow and don't really know what to expect. It was booked after my 36 week scan to check my placenta but no one said what it was for and I was in such a state of relief that placenta had moved that I didn't think to ask! I'm guessing from what you guys have been through though, that they'll do an internal exam to see if I'm 'ripe' yet and possible offer a sweep too...I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing - pathetic really!

Inzi - so sorry to hear about your flu. I had it a couple of weeks ago and just couldn't shake it - LO taking all my vitimins!! I was just the same, hoping that I didn't go into labour cos I wouldn't have the energy. You have my sympathy.
