For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Well hello ladies and thanks for your supportive messages. Very happy I'm doing the right thing but always good to hear other people think so too! And feeling happier today too...

Fingers crossed that all you overdue ladies are not feeling too rubbish and things gedt moving soon without inductions...

Muppet you enjoy your me time!!!

Choc my parents are still here - Dad leaves on tues and mum on Fri. Hope you're enjoying your time off!

Dalrymps - Choc and I live in Newcastle! If you fancy meeting up after your lo arrives give us a shout - alicetownend at doctors dot org dot uk.

Well disapppointed but not surprised by the rugby result. Actually better than I had thought (had predicted 24-9 to SA). Ho hum!

Dalrymps · 21/10/2007 14:08

Hey everyone, 5th day overdue, getting really fed up now!
feel so uncomfortable, got mild stomach ache again, wish it would turn in to something! Hey alicet and choc, didn't realsied you lived in newc, either of you given birth at wansbeck hosp? thats where i'll be going if he ever makes an appearance.
not much happening today, my dh is back to work for 3 12 hour shifts from tomorrow and i hoped i'd have gone in to labour before then cause he works an hour away so i'll have to get him to come back if i go in to labour in the next 3 days...
Hope everyone else is feeling ok, will report any progress if i get any!

unicorn · 21/10/2007 14:42

1 day behind you in the overdue stakes Dalrymps... but bet I am more fed up!!!!!
This pregnancy just seems to have lasted a lifetime.

Have you a docs/midwife appt next week?

When do they usually do sweeps?

kitcoffey · 21/10/2007 15:43

Hello all!

Dunno the general rule on sweeps I was told 41 weeks before sweeps are performed ahead of induction at 42 weeks.

Different authorities may vary.

Hillbilly · 21/10/2007 16:07

Hi all......kind of new to this thread although was on it a loooong time ago in early pregnancy. I tried to follow it but I never seemed to have the time to keep up.

Anyway I am 3 days overdue now and getting a bit frustrated. I have a hospital app on Thurs but really hope this baby is born by then!

Have tried curry, red wine, walking and sex (obviously not all at the same time!) but no luck yet.

Any tips?

kitcoffey · 21/10/2007 16:11

Ooh maybe you have discovered the secret, your list all at the same time!

Dalrymps · 21/10/2007 16:11

I have an appointment booked for tues when i'll e 7 days overdue, they'll monitor the heart rate for about 45mins and do an internal to check how 'favourable' my cervix is for induction, they didn't mention whether they'd offer a sweep or not, if all seems ok i should be booked for an induction at 10 days over so that'd be friday, really hope something happens before then! My ribs are getting pumbled and i turned over in bed about a million times last night. Things are not being made better by the constant texts and phone calls asking if it's happened yet, oh and the fact my sister in law keeps telling me over and over about the bad bits from her labour and the fact that the hour car journey i have to make will be really uncomfortable cause she had to do the same

Dalrymps · 21/10/2007 16:15

Hey hillbilly, knw how you feel, my midwife said her best tip was nipple stimulation although i'm a bit freaked out by it so tried it a little then stopped . Apparently if your body thinks something is suckling on your boobs it releases the hormoe it releases during labour that makes your uterus contract. I've read on the net you have to do it for about 15 mins each side for an hour or two or try gently using a breast pump, if you do a search on it there should be more detail on exactly what to do. Although the more i read the more convinced i am that not much we do makes much diference at all! Hope you get some progress soon

Hillbilly · 21/10/2007 16:26

Thanks dairymps. How are you feeling?

Think my dh must have read about nipple stimulation too! Can't say I'm really in the mood for more sex right now though, but if it helps......

Anyone know about Clary Sage? I've just been looking on some old threads about it and it seems to either help bring on labour or relax you so much it slows it down, so I'm confused. I will ask my doula as I'm sure she knows.

I feel absolutely fine but just ready for baby to come out now.

Hillbilly · 21/10/2007 16:28

Yes I too am being bombarded by texts etc asking if he is born yet.

Dalrymps · 21/10/2007 16:36

All i've heard about clary sage is that it can have a sort of narcotic/pain relieving effect. Also read that it can stimulate uterine contractions but not too sure, i went to an aromatherapy antenatal class and had a sniff of some, it's a very strong strange smell, must to something to do with contractions though cause your supposed to avoid it in early pregnancy???

Kittiwake · 21/10/2007 16:40

Hi Hillbilly - and Dalrymps (who I havebeen talking too elsewhere!)

I 6 days over now also having masses of phonecalls which are driving me mad - it's good that people care obviously but just re-inforces the fact that the baby doesn't seem to want to budge right now!

Don't know anything about clary sage I have tred all usual too Sex/curry/ walks etc. someone told me today to try gin and tonic so may have one tonight not the most arduous of trials!!!

unicorn · 21/10/2007 16:46

maybe we need an 'overdue' support thread.. and the rest of mumsnet can send out virtual positive vibes to us all!!!!

(40+4)

Kittiwake · 21/10/2007 16:53

Hi Unicorn

great idea maybe collective mind control will do it!! I am trying really hard to relax and think about other stuff as I am sure obsessing about when it's going to happen doesn't help but it's soooo hard to think about anything else much at the moment.

Dalrymps · 21/10/2007 16:55

i know, bet everyone else is wishing we'd just stop moaning, bet we'll be wishing we were still pregnant when we're suffering from sleep deprivation . I think the problem is i feel lke i have no control over the situation, it's kind of like waiting to do your driving test but not even knowing what day it's on . Suppose i could just stop trying to be in control and accept it'll happen as it's suppose to... nah, i like moaning too much

Hillbilly · 21/10/2007 17:04

Hi Kittiwake and Unicorn!

Dairymps - you are so right about having no control over the situation....

I think I will get some clary sage tomorrow morning if nothing has happened. It's my pre natal step class tomorrow too so I may just suprise everyone there and turn up!

Tried G & T on due date. Think I may try red wine tonight!

Hillbilly · 21/10/2007 17:07

Actually do feel quite relaxed about the wait. It has helped that it's the weekend so my dh has been around to help with dd (2.4yrs).

ChocolateHobnob · 21/10/2007 17:59

Hello all!

You sound frustrated - don't blame you. I hope something happens soon for one of you at least - although on this thread babies are like buses, none for a while then loads at once!
On that note, any sign of Inzi today??

Dalrymps, I am due to give birth in the RVI in Newcastle - don't know anything about Wansbeck, except that a friend of mine is probably going there (unless she's allowed the midwife led unit elsewhere).

Had a nice day today... been into town, shopped, bought a camcorder and a pile of books - so I can curl up and read tomorrow in between my industrial cooking to fill up the freezer. I've got a half leg of lamb, marinated in cumin, ginger, yoghurt, turmeric, and garlic, in the oven, to serve with spiced potatoes, spicy tomato relish, and spinach, tonight. Yum.

Hoping for some action shortly ladies!!!

muppetgirl · 21/10/2007 18:05

Hi all!

I've been booked for a sweep 2 days after due date but that's not ill the 5/7th nov
(I joined this thread as I was told wwaaayyyy back in the beginning I would be induced at 38 weeks but they have since changed their minds so are still sticking to here as I've got to know everyone)

Dh got back after dropping Ollie off at Il's so I have a few days to sleep which is really all I did today!

Loads of braxtons that are getting 'tighter' if that makes sense but still nothing....

unicorn · 21/10/2007 18:46

for those still waiting

muppetgirl · 21/10/2007 18:52

I'm like that and I'm not even overdue!!!

alicet · 21/10/2007 19:15

Ladie thinking of you all.... Never had the 'joys' of going over with either of my boys but know I would have really struggled.

Dalrymps I had my boys at the RVI too... And try to ignore sil - what is it about being pregnant that makes people think you WANT to hear their labour horror stories?!!! Err - that will be no!

HonorMatopoeia · 21/10/2007 20:40

Hello ladies
Thank you for all your well wishes. Baby Rosalyn (Rosie) arrived at 12:34 on Wednesday. Waiting for the section was a nightmare, we were there for hours just sitting around, but the whole experience was much more positive than my last birth. Rosie weighed 9lb 6oz so was not as hefty as the predicted 10lb 5oz! She is a little sweetie, still very curled up and wrinkled. Her older sister dotes on her and we're slowly adjusting to being a larger family. I'm in a bit of pain from section scar, bruised spine (difficulty with the spinal) and a pressure sore on my hip (caused by the bad removal of A pressure dressing ). I begged to be let out on Friday as I really dislike hospitals at the best of times and the poor midwives were very understaffed. Looking forward to joining the postnatal thread and seeing people over there. Love to everyone who is still waiting to drop x x (and of course to those who have already got their lo's!)

Dalrymps · 21/10/2007 20:49

Hey honor! congratulations and glad to hear all is well with the lo, sorry to hear you're sore, hopefully you'll heal quickly, sure the lo will take your mind of the discomfort a bit. Can't wait until my lo is here, see you on the postnatal thread

J20DemondaughterandDevilbaby · 21/10/2007 20:59

HM congratultions you just beat me to it posting your news
