For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Congratulations Ess! Fantastic news - although the whole placenta thing sounds a bit scarey. How can you get that far in labour with no one realising that your placenta had come away???

I'm hoping this LO waits till its due date now (22nd) as DH is taking me shopping for my birthday prezzie tomorrow and my 'parts' are still sore from the Immac incident! This is despite liberal appliance of Sudacreme several times a day.... (sorry - probably TMI again!)

Having a lazy day today - I will mainly be on the sofa watching whatever I can find on TV...I've become rather addicted to You Are What You Eat with Gillian McKeith which is on every weekday morning!

Hope everyone else has a good one and that all you overdue ladies go pop soon!

snig · 19/10/2007 09:31

Can i join the still cooking list not due until 31 october, still not quite ready yet, have yet to listen to my hypno birthing cd without falling asleep!

muppetgirl · 19/10/2007 09:33

Hi snig!
Add away...

gemmamc · 19/10/2007 09:38

Hi snig,
yes add yourself, of course. We'll feel less lonely!!

I've also hardly ever managed to listen to the hypnotherapy CD without falling asleep - to be precise I think I managed once because I was very insomnia one night and was actually trying to use it to get back to sleep, but for once it didn't work! But at least it means it has helped me relax during pregnancy and get more sleep!

ess · 19/10/2007 10:17

Muppetgirl, do you really want to know? Had spinal and then doctor put his hand in and pulled it out. Wouldn't recommend it. Yes, I really should have had a scan before labour seeing as I had been bleeding 5 days but the machine was "missing". Not impressed but luckily all was ok. Off to get my bloods checked later. Have a good day everyone.

Dalrymps · 19/10/2007 10:59

Hey everyone, welcome snig!
Hope everyone is doing ok, 3rd day overdue for me today, no signs it's imminent, just the normal onn/off stomach ache and tender boobs today but i don't think the boobs means anything...
I used to be able to listento my hypnotherapy cd without falling asleep but now i fall asleep every time! Says in the literature it should still work even if you fall asleep though.
Well i'll be back with any news although i doubt anything wil happen, think he's too cosy, catch ya all later

alicet · 19/10/2007 11:49

Congratulations ess and welcome Scarlett!

Hello snig...

Can't now remember what everyone else said but hello all and I'm thinking of you...

Unicorn try not to worry too much (sure easier said than done) but if you are speak to mw - she may be able to help with your worries about the placenta.

Nellie - good luck tomorrow!

Choc - enjoy your last day!!!

Kittiwake · 19/10/2007 12:03

Congratulations to ess re your placenta issue but glad you and little Scarlett are fine.

Hello snig

4th day overdue for me and no sign of anything happening so far today. Trying to be patient and failing miserably........I'm at the top of the still cooking list though so must be me next

hope everyone has a good day It's gorgeously sunny here so going to go for a walk after lunch put some pressure on that cervix!

Apricott · 19/10/2007 13:47

hi all

sorry for long silence - new baby bloody hard work!

Hope those of you still waiting are holding out okay. And congratulations to everyone who has dropped their baby since I was last here.
Don't know where the last 10 days have gone. Yesterday went out in the car with baby for the first time. Today on-line for first time. Slowly adjusting to life with newborn.

Well, I didn't get my home birth, though I did labour at home until 6 cm dilated. Then nothing happening so was taken to hospital (in an ambulance - v dramatic, no blue lights though!). Think the very bumpy ambulance ride started me off again and I had about 4 hours of intense contractions before baby made his appearance. I was much more of a wimp than last time. Had gas and air and pethidine (which rocks, btw, and pretty much saved my life). I kept saying I couldn't go on, declared that I wanted a caesarean, and so on, but midwife took no notice! Eventually had natural delivery, second degree tear, 1.2 litre post partum haemorage (sp), as a result of which I've been v aneamic and v tired and emotional ever since. Feeling a bit better now though. All that blood made me glad i'd not been at home in the end - would ahve needed to redecorate !

Baby was 8 lb precisely. Was baby no-name for quite some time but we finally settled on Huw. Still debating middle name.

He's currently in his pram threatening to wake at any moment. Has been feeding all morning. Nipples are beginning to heal, but I've been worried sick by series of unfortunate events including being sent back into hosp because of his weight loss. Obvisously home again now, but still worried, cos he's doing the 'wrong colour poo'.

right gotta go. Baby calls.

good tobe back. will try to pop on more often again now.

a x

unicorn · 19/10/2007 15:05

Good to hear from you Apricott... try and take it easy (as much as you can)
I guess it seems really silly us 'still coooking' moaning about the wait when you have been thro the ordeal and are still recovering... but it really is frustrating (esp for impatient people like me!0

As I looked down the 'popped' list it looks to me an even match of 11 boys and 11 girls delivered so far..Is that right?

kitcoffey · 19/10/2007 15:16

Hello Snig! a halloween baby, cool!

Had heaps of rumblings last night had to get in the bath at 2am but nothing. Can you believe non stop Braxtons for over 2 weeks starting to feel a bit freaky, has anyone else had that?

muppetgirl · 19/10/2007 15:31

Yep, Braxtons all the time now and are painful at night but not during the day -why is that????

Period type pains at night also but not in the day.

Apricott -sorry you had such a hard time but like unicorn says, rest as much as you can and accept as much help that's offered!

kitcoffey · 19/10/2007 15:43

Yes I have the period type pains too, started in earnest yesterday lunch time, feel very achey too. Sounds silly but I really thought it would be a case of waking up in the night or morning with contractions and 'know' it was all kicking off, I didn't know that you get the niggly build up and Braxtons and stopping and starting etc!

muppetgirl · 19/10/2007 15:53

Kitt- I thought it would be
...and here we go!
I was induced last time so have no experience of 'real' labour. I am like a cat on tenderhooks atm as the aches, pains, braxtons are frequent but go no where and are mainly at night.

kitcoffey · 19/10/2007 16:05

I know! My Midwife said it may mean a shorter labour, (this is my first) my Sister snorted with laughter when I said that to her. Mind you her first was wake up at 6am hospital at 8 am DD born at 11.45 am all on gas & air and not a peep out of my sister.

Remind me to tell her I filed my nails through the whole episode, provided LO ever comes!!

muppetgirl · 19/10/2007 16:12

Sorry to say I had loads of braxtons with ds 1 and he was late, induced and 27 hrs!!

kitcoffey · 19/10/2007 16:36

Humph, may struggle file nails throough that!

ejt1764 · 19/10/2007 17:13

On the whole labour thing ... I had bh from 18 weeks ... getting progressively stronger ... then on the Saturday night, I had contractions, rang hospital, but they tailed off... then all day Sunday had the worst period pain ever - all down my legs and in my back ... (now know I was in early labour) - then I had contractions gettingprogressively more intense through Sunday evening, then my waters broke - and then the contractions really kicked in (I certainly couldn't have filed my nails! - it was about as much as I could manage to find the boost button on my TENS machine!) ...

hth - but then everybody's labour is different ...

ChocolateHobnob · 19/10/2007 18:40

CONGRATULATIONS Ess! Another Scarlett! Sorry about the drama but glad you and Scarlett are well.

Hi Apricott and congrats too. Hope bfeeding gets better!

Dalrymps/Kitti/Unicorn, thinking of you and your los as you try to will them to action! Hope it happens shortly. Surely excitement of world cup rugby will induce some activity??

Excitement here is that I've finished work, hurrah. I'm exhausted and have been a bit headachey all week and tired, so need some rest! Good to be free for the mo, though. Got MnS dinner to look forward to (their new Indian range)...

Take care all and hope for some news later!!!
