For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Morning All

Congrats ejb!

I did something a bit stupid yesterday - I decided I was going to try to tidy up my 'area' and as I can't see it anymore, I thought the easiest way would be with some Immac and a mirror. Everything seemed to be going well, but with my baby brain, I didn't read the back of the packet and just convinced myself that you left it on for 10 mins. After about 8, it really began to sting and I had to whip it off pretty quickly...for the rest of the day, my bits were BURNING and nothing I did seemed to help (sorry if TMI!). Finally, when I went to bed, I looked at the packet and spotted that it was only meant to be left on for a max of 6 mins.... oops Burned bits, just what I need to add to the fun of labour!

Anyway - Muppet - your MW sounds like a nightmare. What horrible, distressing things to say to you. If I've learned one thing from reading all the birth stories on this website, it's that you really can't predict how any birth will go! Try to keep positive!

MrsFish · 18/10/2007 08:54

J20 about your weight loss, as I mentioned in the other thread that is the beauty of bfing, I remember losing it that quickly with Sam... not this time round though Weighed myself this morning and I have finally hit the one stone milestone two weeks after the birth, now have the hard task of losing the other two stone that I put on, its quite frustrating not being able to get exercising because of the c-section.

Chocolate at the midwife, I can't believe she was so negative, that is really awful, talk about stressing you out just when you need to be relaxing... try and ignore her she has no idea how your labour is going to be.

ejb Congrats on the arrival of Joel

Collywobbles Oh dear, hope it doesn't sting too much and it heals up before the birth

Dalrymps · 18/10/2007 08:57

congratulations ejb!!! must be lovely to finally have your lo .
collywobbles, sorry to hear about your burnt bits, hope they feel better soon! Mind you i've left those creams on for longer than it said on the packet before and they haven't burnt me... maybe your skin is just extra sensitive and reacting differently cause you're preggers?
I've just seen dh off to work, this is my 2nd day overdue, really desperate to get things going, thought it was starting to get moving yesterday with all the period pains and back ache and pelvic discomfort but died down again this morn, , ah well will let you know if anything significant happens... hope everyone else is feeling ok, gonna go back to bed for a bit cause slept quite badly, too many loo breaks. Catch ya all later

Just seen on another thread Lisa has been taken into hospital with gallstones. Baby is with her but she can't b/f as on ab's.

Hope you get them sorted soon
xx

ejt1764 · 18/10/2007 09:44

Morning all ...

congratulations ejb ... you miss being pregnant ... ?!

hoping all your babies come on time so that you don't have to run the gauntlet of induction ...

ds was 16 days late ... and I gave in to pressure to have an induction, and ended up with a C section ... if you really don't want to be induced, you can opt for what they call expectant management - I wish I'd known about it when pg with ds ... also ask about the CS rate after induction for your hospital - in some hospitals it's as high as 80%!

Colly at you burning your bits!!

muppetgirl - so glad you've finally got somebody to be on your side ... and it doesn't necessarily follow that this one will be late too - ds = 16 days late, dd = 1 day early!

inzi - here's hoping it's starting for you!

at everybody else!

unicorn · 18/10/2007 10:22

Congrats ejb - lucky you..

Fed up here nothing to report here, apart from a decent sleep for first time in ages.

Anyone got any good tips on how to enjoy(??!!) being overdue,(instead of getting increasingly narky with everyone!)

kitcoffey · 18/10/2007 10:57

Morning ladies, my internet has been down for a few days so I have been frantically reading up on who is doing what! Colly burning bits ha ha (isn't that what got us all in this state in the first place?)

Dalrymps that was better baby news, I hope it helped, glad you made it through your anniversary in one piece, fingers crossed it all starts happening soon for you.

I'm starting to think it's more luck than skill to get a nice midwife judging by some of the horrors here! My sister is due 4 weeks behind me and hers had managed to scare the living daylights out of her with chat about being breech and C sections etc way before it was necessary.

Congratulations on LO ejb, I hope all is well.

I often think I will miss my bump when this is all done. I am unlikely to do it again as although it is my first surprise pregnancy I have 3 adopted chappies so am starting to look like a walking ad for contraception (think Lynette from Desperate Housewives) Although I must admit the prospect of maybe a dress and heels by Christmas is rather appealing!

muppetgirl · 18/10/2007 13:26

I definately will not miss my bump!!!!

I am a tummy sleeper and desperately want to be agian.

I've got to sort out the old 'lady garden' but due to size of bump -aiming for the sample pot is proving difficult these days - really think dh is going to have to help!!

Ollie at home with me early from nursery as he's got a heavy cold. Was okay this morning but I saw a friend (ollie's friends mum) who said her dc was ill at home and I think he heard that....

Oh well, he's quite cuddly when he's ill so that's nice. Just don't want the cold myself!

Watching razzle dazzle now, god that woman is irritating

alicet · 18/10/2007 15:00

Gemma ? and any other first timers worrying about breast feeding ? cannot recommend this book highly enough ? www.amazon.co.uk/What-Expect-When-Youre-Breastfeeding/dp/0091856744/ref=sr_1_1/026-4551575-0256424?i e=UTF8&s=books&qid=1192713903&sr=8-1 ? buy it!!!

Choc ? you haven?t put on that much weight surely? Don?t listen to her everyone else she looks fab! Def pregnant bump as appropriate for 38 weeks but no bulges elsewhere! Livid with your mw though ? what a bitch! Yes you might have a tough time but so might anyone and its hardly helpful to paint such a bleak picture. I have a mate who had 2 OP babies ? both turned in labour, she never had a epidural and all was fine. Plus the whole size thing ? its really difficult to tell. I am smaller than you and was never told it would be a problem so IGNORE HER!!!

Inzi can?t believe your mw either!!! Yes she?s right but there are more sensitive ways to put it!!!! Think they probably become blasé as they deal with it all the time but no excuse! Hope your mum is OK too and also that your pains turn into something soon?.

Muppet ? glad you were happy with appointment and the plan you have mad.

Dalrymps glad all good with the scan And Adam is available for nipple stimulation if you like! And for anyone else!!!

Ejb ? Congratulations!!! Think you are mad to miss being pregnant though!

Colly ? pmsl at you trying to neaten up your lady bits!!!! I just got dh to shave with the advice ?if you shave it all off you?re dead!? He did a pretty good job actually!

Hello and good luck to everyone else I haven?t mentioned personally? Still thinking of you all x

greedygreedyguzzler · 18/10/2007 15:02

just wanted to say hello quickly to all you oct ladies still waiting. did a quick skim of posts and wanted to say that just over a week ago i was having all the same worries as lots of you.

i was getting loads of twinges before hand and kept thinking is thisd it? but its true that you just KNOW when it really is happening, so dont worry any first timers, you will KNOW!!!

also, i was told my baby was small for my dates once and big for my dates once. i measured 4 wks behind at one point and 4 weeks ahead at one point and she was a perfect size! not too big or small.....so its all guesswork on the MWs part really!

also, going overdue..............its really annoying and completely consumed me so i can really sympathize, but it soon becomes a distant memory!

good luck everyone!!!

my little marcy is lying across my lap gurgling at me at the moment.very cute!!!.....................whoops! spoke too soon........ that gurgling just turned into her throwing up!!! better go!!

unicorn · 18/10/2007 15:15

cheers ggg.
Very fed up here, and dh is not helping.

He has started going on about placenta failing etc (we had a terible first birth - 2 weeks overdue induced.. emergency/c and doctors told us the placenta was calcifying so if we had left it any longer......)

So am feeling a bit tense as you can imagine.

Dalrymps · 18/10/2007 15:32

Unicorn, try not to worry about the placenta,i'm sure it'll be doingit's job fine at the moment, i think its very unlikely anything will happen with it this early, just remember you're only just overdue, the midwives know what they're doing too so they'll montior you if you start going really overdue. Who knows, lo could arrive in the next couple of days and all the worrying will be over

ejt1764 · 18/10/2007 18:07

choc - Mairwen was op .... and I delivered her no problems! Sure labour was very intense, but it's not an impossibility!

gemmamc · 18/10/2007 18:13

Thanks Alice,
Funnily enough breastfeeding is actually one of the few post natal issues I am not that worried about (yet?) although I am preparing myself for the fact that it's not as easy as I used to think it would be.

But I am still hoping I'll be one of the lucky ones who manages relatively easily, possibly because so many people I know seem to manage all right - but I'll certainly order the book in case I need it...and try not to beat myself about it in case there are problems.

I am also lucky because around here there are drop-in breasfeeding support sessions every single day of the week...so I am hoping that will help me sort out any issues that come up. Or is it that this specific book maybe uses a different approach?

ChocolateHobnob · 18/10/2007 18:31

Hi all

I bought that book Alice recommends on her recommendation - have read some and will read again when required - it does seem to talk sense!

Thanks for all the encouragement - I think I just got the midwife from hell on Wednesday. Thankfully mine is back next week! One of my best friends is 4 foot 11 and a size 6 and managed 2 babies vaginally, okay small babies but still she managed. Height can't be everything. As for the weight thing, I dont think I've put THAT much on but I dont know, and I've been eating like a pig, specially sweet things, which I don't eat that much of in normal life...

Unicorn, big hugs and I hope it happens asap for you! And Dalrymps - good luck! But remember it isnt an exact science and we're hardly undermonitored here...

Inzi, hugs to you too. Sounds like you're getting fed up as well!

I'm okay, apart from lack of sleep and people telling me I look zombified. Last day in the office today. I can't say I was very productive. My students brought me flowers which was a lovely surprise. I'm technically working tomorrow, but from home. And that's it! Hurrah!

Hugs to everyone and here's to some los coming tonight! (Not mine - I'd like a few days off first!!!)

nellieloula · 18/10/2007 18:42

hello ladies. Just a quick one from me to say i hope you're all ok and that I'm going into hospital tomorrow so may not be online for a while - will certainly let you know asap though! I'm shattered and a mixture of excited and terrified - mostly because DH is only here for a week and then I'm on my own with a 2yr old and baby and no child care recovering from a section - but really looking forward to seeing this little acrobat! Take good care everyone and hopefully all the other LO's will be with us soon too.

Dalrymps · 18/10/2007 18:44

Just popping in to say still nothing happening here, just gonna walk the dog to get the gravity working for me, how many people have gone due now? can anyone who has a better memory than me do an updated list? i keep loosing track, anyway will probably pop back later today to see how everyone is getting on, dh will be back from work at 11pm so the computer will be my company until then

Dalrymps · 18/10/2007 18:48

...By the way, i meant to type 'how many people have gone overdue'... not just due, dur!

I know that feeling Inzi. I know I won;t be in October now but I'm still sticking with you lot!!!

ess · 18/10/2007 22:03

Evening all.................she's here!!!

Just a quick post- Scarlett Elizabeth was born 16th October weighing 7ib 3oz.
Whole thing was quite traumatic- turns out my placenta had come away, lost litre blood during labour, was prepped for emrergency C-section. Got to theatre to find I was fully dilated so managed to push her out in time. They then couldn't remove placenta so had to have spinal and was "manually" removed.
After all that though I have a beautiful girl and we are all absolutely thrilled. Love to all of you and hope you don;t have too long to wait for yours xx

unicorn · 18/10/2007 22:13

Congratulations ess but that has scared me more now re placenta.... when did they realise, were there any signs etc?

oh,must stop worrying...

Hope all well with hmp and best of luck anyone in labour now,....

I am

Dalrymps · 18/10/2007 22:21

congratulations ess, lo finally here, well done, sounds like you had a bit of an ordeal but i bet you're so happy now cuddling the lo
Hope i pop soon!!!
