Hi Folks - feeling really relieved - rang the hospital today and I do NOT have gestational diabetes. Had a cake to celebrate which is probably not the appropriate response but it was such a relief and I am resolved, once baby is out and I have decided which pram to buy to do much power walking on Hampstead Heath and slim down! In fact, we are looking after my parents' english setter this week so had a lovely walk in Highgate Woods this morning with dh. It was such a gorgeous autumnal morning. Wd really love a dog - is a puppy and a baby too much to handle do we think?
Glad baby show was good - definite break through Nicky6 - bravo!
So sorry about lack of views Mrs Mc - it does seem an impossible system, but then so is the english one - don't know how you get round it.
MM - friends of mine stayed in the Ice Hotel and said it was a complete novelty for one night but it isn't v romantic asyou are all separately wrapped up in these mega sleeping bags, furs and thermals, and the palava of going to the loo is definitely wearying!

mixedmama · 22/10/2007 15:54

Mmm, that doesnt sound too romantic, but still an experience.

Great news about the GD.

Me thinks a puppy and a baby is a little too much, altho i am sur eplenty of people have pets and babies.

MrsMcSpooky · 22/10/2007 16:29

Thanks ladies for all your positives on the acronym issue yup, an ARM is not as bad as a BUM or an ASS or indeed a TIT ? her initials would be ARMM anyway so a limb in disguise if a boy it would be XJMM so no probs there.

Barristermum- yeah! so glad you have found out now and can stop being mean to yourself! puppy and a baby ? definitely too much work but I?m with you I?ll be power walking too though I have a funny feeling we are in for a cold, snowy winter ? might need to order some snow wheels! LOL about the issues at the ice hotel hadn?t thought of that!

Along with a few other things I ordered the following from Boots: ice packs for breasts (breast nurse), Germoloids cooling wipes, Arnica cream and an ice pack for my nether regions as well (feme pad) all in the hope that I won?t have any injuries needing any of these!!

gingeme · 22/10/2007 17:10

Good afternoon ladies. Had my GD test this morning. Should here within the week if I have it. Had my anti natal check up too while I was there. All is well. Baby moving like mad because of the Lukozade. Went to MacD's for lunch after which was yummy.
Had a little party for my one year old yesterday. It was a lovely afternoon and he had lots of fun and impressed everyone with his walking skills.
As it isnt officialy his birthday till Wednesday we took him to ToyRUs this afternoon to buy him a presant.
Well I think thats about it for today.
Got another growth scan tommorrow though my mw says she doesnt think this is a particularly big baby and doesnt understand why I have to have extra scans. Oh well I dont mind and dh coming with me tomm.
Have a good evening all xx

LilyLoo · 22/10/2007 21:16

Think arm fine mrs mc. Sorry the viewings didn't happen am sure you will get there but must be very frustrating. Am lol at yous mat bag. How will you carry all that. Think you will be better supplied than hospital.
Great news bm on the gd
Wow Beller i suppose a good enough reason not to be late. What a fab hol ! I have been told not to be early as mil in Australia and not back until 8th!
Hope you felt better today Mrsb!
Happy birthday to ds Gingeme for Wed!
Hope everyone else ok can't wait forhalf term i not off until next week but ds off this week so will hopefully have a rest next week. Am off to Ribby Hall at Blackpool this weekend with 12 girls for a chill out and a pre 30th birthday celebration so will need it.

FrankAwenstein · 22/10/2007 22:18

Has been a really hectic day today Thanks to all of you wishing luck for the scan today.

Got to see beanie He looked lovely and had his little hands together like he was praying, then he kicked the sonographers probe thing. Made my whole belly move. Everything looks good pyshically on the scan. Got to see that he also alos definately a boy. Ds1 was very relieved .

His abdominal circumferance is up on the 97th centile and his head circumferance is around the 75th. His BPD (dont know what that is) and femur length is slightly below 50th centile. His estimated weight is 1593 grams (3 and 1/2 pound). I compared his scan to ds1 at similar gestations (was 31 weeks) and EFW was 6 and 1/2 pounds! So this one certainly seems to be a bit smaller

Saw registrar as consultant wasnt there and she really irritated me. I dnt think she had children herself and was basically saying that i would have to be continuusly monitored. When i questioned this and said surely an active birth is better according to research she said this is not the case and it makes no difference! Her 'bedside' manner was crapola and dp didnt like her very much.

I have another scan in 4 weeks to see how he is doing and to discuss the birth. Hope not same registrar can imagine if she is there on the big day i might be a bit rude to her

Had some sad news today, my cat which was living with my sister died in his sleep last night he was a lovely lovely cat, was 11 1/2 years old.

Barristermum - is half term week so will be occupying ds1 Glad gestational diabetes test came back all clear. When the registrar re-confirmed i was all clear I said 'great, means i can still eat choc', she said 'noooo' hmmm, think she can sod off eh?

Gingeme - good luck with the GD, hope it all comes back ok for you. Happy birthday for your ds too for wednesday

MrsMcJnr - your hospital bag sounds very organsied My dreams have all gone scary too. Must be halloween coming up! Nothing wrong with ARM as initials.

Amani - your lo sounds so cute about the safari park (which one was it, I love longleat!)

Sorry i posted loads about my scan etc. xx

Lots of love to all of you

cryptletsandtwins · 23/10/2007 01:43

Hello! I know I've failed! I say I'm going to post more often and look what happens!

Awen, I'm so pleased that your scan went well...it's so cute when they do things like that isn't it! My ds was very pleased when he was told he would be having a brother (shh!), he was very worried about having 4 girls to contend with

Hi Lilyloo

Gingerme- happy birthday to your ds for Wednesday, I haven't told my dc Toys r us is a story yet

MrsMcSpooky, I hope you won't need all those things! I needed an icepack last time for my nose, because I was laying with dd1 on me and she picked her head up and dropped it onto my face, and broke my nose! ARM isn't too bad for initials, I remember hearing a really bad one, but I can't remember it now!

Barristermum, It's great news you don't have gestational diabetes and that your beanie is growing well, hope you enjoyed your cake... You shouldn't ever feel guilty btw, just think of all the wonderful things you have done for your beanie!

Beller, I'd love to go to an Ice hotel! I think it would be great! I hope you get your homebirth

Mixedmama, I hate staying in hotels! I like my own bed too much.

MrsBiscuit, I've done the same, sometimes things just get overwhelming and you need to let your emotions out. Sleep is the best medicine...and chocolate. I love grease btw! Prefer Dirty Dancing though...Patrick Swayze...

Amani, Good for you getting everything sorted! Well done!

Nicky6, You have had a busy weekend. Well done on getting everything sorted

Naetha, Definitely never enough chocolate, though, I've gone off it a bit during this pregnancy.

Toomanyshoes, Well done with your Xmas shopping! So sorry about the gestational diabetes

Ayrehsirelolo, where were you on holiday? Was it good?

Fruitful, how are you holding up?

Pink Elephant, I'm so so sorry! What a horrendous time to get news like that

As for me...I've had no more dramas and I'm now starting to have fortnightly scans to ensure that the beanies are growing well... Both babies may be head down, so I'm hoping for a vaginal birth, if they stay that way, which hopefully they will as they are running out of room to move!

Hope you're all ok, sorry to everyone I've missed!

cryptletsandtwins · 23/10/2007 01:44

Meant to say both babies are head down!

Oh gosh, I wrote an essay, sorry!

beller · 23/10/2007 08:35

Morning all!

Mrsmcspooky - My dreams are back to being weird as well now...watched an episode of Soprano's last night before bed, and spent the night getting chased by the mafia! You bag sounds very organised..maybe i should get some of that stuff too

Barristermum- Great news about the GD!! xx

Gingme - Fingers crossed for test, and glad the midwife appt went well..I have mine tomorrow! x

Lillyloo - Bet you cant wait for next week...Have a fab girls weekend, and take it easy xx

Frankawenstein - Hope you dont get the same registrar again!! Thats a big difference in size!!

cryptletsandtwins - Glad both babys heads are down and hope you get the VB you want xxx

I have midwife tomorrow..30+4 today eeek! Have a few questions for her re the homebirth, but all feeling good at mom. I have to decide whether to come in for 3 hours and then go home again..or go to midwife then come in for 3 hours...we are short staffed this week, otherwise i dont think i would come in at all!
Hope everyone is well xxxxxxxxx

mixedmama · 23/10/2007 08:37

Morning ladies,

Had an awful awful nights sleep last night... woke up at 12.38 and felt like I was choking on my own saliva, I could hardly breathe and then DH was snoring and moved to the couch, but even until this morning if I take too sharp an intake of breath I feel like I might vomit or pass out... very strange feeling. Not sure if I was half dreaming to be honest.

Glad everyone seems to be cool and good to hear from you triplets and twins. Made me gasp about the broken nose, how awful.

Ging - happy birthday to DS glad the party went well.

mixedmama · 23/10/2007 08:39

mmm... beller i think i would come in for 3 hours and then go to mw and then go home, palava coming back into the office, when you are likely going to be quite close to home.

beller · 23/10/2007 10:53

mixedmamma - that dosnt sound goo..i keep getting a sore chest (ribs) when i try to get out of bed but breathing is ok..
Yeah thats what i thought, then the guy I work with has just asked if i can come in after the appt, as he would like to leave a bit early tomorow..oh well not too bad...i get a lie in..(5.30 is doing m head in!), plus im now meeting a friend after work..so worked out ok!

Naetha · 23/10/2007 10:57

Morning all

Feeling particularly chirpy today, not entirely sure why!

On the subject of funny dreams, I had a corker last night. I dreamt that Awen lived near me in Leeds, and because her landlord had changed, had to pay him £430 by the next day, and asked me if I could lend her the money!

I met up with her in my old school (in north wales of all places) to hand over the cash, and barristermum and beller were there too, but it turned out that they were the ones essentially holding Awen to ransom!!

Anyway, it was all very odd!

I hope everyone's doing OK and getting enough sleep at night (well, relatively!). My ulcers are thankfully a bit better although still very much there! Still waiting on blood test results.

Sorry you've got GD Toomanyshoes, hopefully you can work it out fine for the rest of the pregnancy Glad that barristermum (and someone else I think! - memory is terrible!) don't have it - celebrate with a cake though, I like that style!!

MrsMc - as always your updates are invaluable, there's no way I'd be able to keep up without them!

I'm stupidly busy at work at the moment, which is good in a way, but can be stressful at times! Looking forwards to my last day - 30th November!

fluffymummy · 23/10/2007 11:00

Just thought I'd drop in quickly to say 'hiya' but once again I've been away from my desk in meetings for over a week and don't stand a chance of ever catching up!

So I just wanted to send hugs to everyone, especially MrsMc, Beller, Mixedmama, Gingeme, Tripletsandtwins, Lilyloo, Awen, Amana, Naetha, Barristermum, MrsB, Sabinar, Fruitful...oh dear - I've definitely forgotten someone... Hope all your bumps are growing nicely and you're all coping ok?

I'm suddenly past the 6 month mark and slightly in shock as I realise that there really isn't very long to go and we're totally not ready. Oh well, once the builders are out and we have a lovely new room to put things in then I'll get started moving everything out of my study into the new room, then ds out of the nursery into my ex-study and getting the nursery ready for the next one! Feels like the Mad Hatters Tea Party!!

Barristermum just saw your post about walking on the Heath and Highgate Woods, which means you probably live about 5 minutes away from me I'm also desperate for a dog (I want a spaniel!) but DH keeps insisting that its just one more commitment and really not a good idea at the moment. I think I'm wearing him down though Anyway, shall we meet up for coffee? Maybe not until we're actually on maternity leave, if your hours are anything like mine...

Anyway, got to run, another meeting in 3 mins and then off to Glasgow until Thursday night. Is anyone on this list in based in Glasgow (she said, hopefully!)??

FM xx

Battymamma · 23/10/2007 11:09

Hiya ladies

Long time no see! I could check the thread yesterday but not respond because too bloomin' busy here. Did a load of interviews yesterday and found a really nice girl to cover me on maternity leave. She won't even be after my job once I'm back because she has plans to travel to japan. Excellent. Nothing like fighting for your job when you return (like i did last time!)

Mixedmama - sounds like and awful nights sleep. Hope you are ok. I sleep much better with this baby then i did when pg with dd. She was a notcurnal baby in my tummy and was nocturnal when first born. This one luckily appears to be awake in the day! Fingers crossed.

Beller - good to hear your well. Good luck with the midwife tomorrow. Hope you get the homebirth you want.

triplets and twins - head-down babies, fab news. Twins normally come a few weeks early yes? I reckon you might be the first on this thread. Mines upside down at the mo - am hoping it stays that way.

Awen - Scan and baby size sounds good. Registrar sounds like a silly cow. I was continuously monitored and didn't realise I had a right to say no and had to give birth on my back (which is not a natural position to be in and is bloody difficult to push anything out on your back!). I know better this time.

Gingeme - happy birthday to ds on weds

Hi lilyloo - have fun at blackpool

MrsMcSpooky - we liked Phoebe as a name and we need to have Margaret or Maggie as a middle name because of family history and we worked out the initials were PMS. Perhaps not.

Pink Elephant - so sorry to hear of your news.

Right that is as far back as i can go to play catch up! Hope everyone else is well

Battymamma · 23/10/2007 11:12

ps hello Naetha - am also frantically busy here. Piling on the work before we go me thinks??

hello fluffymummy - you sound busy too. Hope the builders are behaving!

mixedmama · 23/10/2007 11:14

Can I just gatecrash and check that

Beller
Nicky6
Battymama
Toomanyshoes and me

are meeting up for curry on Friday - booking table today.

mixedmama · 23/10/2007 11:14

Naetha - your dream had me laughing like a nutter at my desk.

gingeme · 23/10/2007 11:27

Good morning ladies. You all sound in fine fettel today. Well as good as can be expected
Awen sorry to hear about your cat. A very good age for a cat though. Just a quick question non pregnancy related. Since your ds has had his tonsils out do his teeth seem yellow? I brush ds's teeth morning and evening but they seem to be a bit yellow now
Got my growth scan this afternoon. Cant wait to see beany again. Dh coming this time too so hell get to see him again.
Dh has his snip on Halloween and I asked him if he wants to cancel it and try again for a girl? I won't repeat his answer. Ofcourse I was joking. I think weve done more than enough for human kind.
Well have a good afternoon.
xx

MrsMcSpooky · 23/10/2007 11:41

Morning ladies how are you all?

Those with pets ? Naetha, I know you have cats too ? have you started trying to keep them out of your bedroom? We are thinking that we will have to make the change mid-Nov but are not looking forward to it they love being with us and sleeping on our feet and we love them being there but it just wouldn?t be safe to have them in the room with the baby as I?m sure they?d want to snuggle Beanie too also, going to see my SIL?s new kittens tonight ? they have been reared by the cat protection league but have not been done and I doubt they would have had a jags yet, am I safe to touch them do you think?

Had such restless legs last night, I just couldn?t get comfy and when I did fall asleep on my left side, Beanie booted me so hard that I woke up, maybe I was lying on the leg or something must get a long pillow!

Also, lost all the auctions I bid in last night on ebay I lost a cradle swing by 50p ? gutted!

Gingeme ? fingers crossed you don?t have GD glad all is looking good and that your DS had a fun birthday ? your little ones really will be close in age!! I hope the growth scan goes well today and that DH enjoys seeing the baby . How many weeks are you now? Wondering if we can compare measurements when I have mine on Thurs. I will be 28+2 on Thurs.

Thanks Lilyloo and at my bag ? I?ve now added breakfast bars, lucozade and Foxes glacier fruits My parents want me to be late their business partners are away for the month of January so they can?t come over to visit then ? I?ve told them I will not be waiting! Have a fabulous weekend is it your 30th coming up?

FrankA ? that?s lovely about the scan I wonder if it will be hard for us not to see what it is at these later scans? Wow, that is a big difference with DS ? what a big baby he was! I what was he at birth? I think I?ll ask them to stop telling me the weight once it gets past 6 pounds! Sorry about the Registrar ? of course that is nonsense ? there?s no way I am having continuous monitoring unless they can give me a good reason! I am going to order a copy of ?Am I allowed? from www.nice.org.uk, it?s not set in stone up here but it is persuasive and hopefully it?ll help me fight my corner if I need to. Don?t worry if you are rude to the Dr on the day, if they cannot give you a good reason for doing something, they are not doing their job. God, I sound like I think the med profs are the enemy! I don?t but I do think there is a lot of unnecessary intervention just because that?s what ticks the boxes for staff or is what they have got used to and I am just not having it so sorry to hear about your cat I lost one 3 years ago and it still makes me so sad, how lovely that he died in his sleep though ? that is the way to go peacefully and in no pain my poor 10 year old is still struggling on her sore leg hope my talk of cats above didn?t upset you hon.

Cryptletsandtwins loving the seasonal name! ohh a brother so do you have one of each this time? oh my goodness ? a broken nose on top of everything else ? I?ll watch out for that! I think it was Amani who had a drug and gun filled dream about Patrick Swayze last week glad to hear all is going well, hope they stay head down

Beller ? don?t think I got into dream sleep last night LOL at your dream don?t forget your flipflops for the hospital bag! I hate standing on wet floors and showers without them (outside my own home that is!) Hope the midwife?s appointment goes well 30 weeks does seem like a major milestone doesn?t it? Don?t go in before and then say you?ve been told to rest that afternoon

Mixedmama ? poor you, do you think the baby is high up and restricting your lung capacity?

Naetha ? LOL at your dream. Glad the ulcers are getting better; mouths take ages to heal don?t they?

Fluffymummy ? hello you I know what you mean! Suddenly its week 28 and the 7th month and I still have a stack of books to read, the Davina DVD to do , the cardigan to knit, things to buy and a financial strategy to work out ? all sounds very exciting in your house getting ready for the baby DH and I are coming to terms with the fact that we probably won?t be moving before the baby is born ? which is fine space wise but tricky money wise ? I have asked him to move his clothes out of one of the spare rooms (we have a 5 bed roomed house and all the cupboards in all the rooms are filled with our clothes ) so that we have somewhere for Beanie?s growing collection! Lovely that you live near Barristermum! I live between Glasgow and Edinburgh and I am sometimes in Glasgow for work ? I know I am on 27/11 ? any chance you?ll be there then? If I?d known sooner, I could have made plans to come through but I am busy tonight and tomorrow night ? let me know next time! you don?t work for NAG do you?

Battymamma sounds good re your mat cover ? they are not covering me they think I?ll be back after a few weeks ? they are in for a shock! LOL PMS, I can see why you want to avoid that! Glad that your baby appears to like sleeping at night, I fear I have a nocturnal one!

beller · 23/10/2007 11:51

Naetha - your dream made me laugh! have a virtual pic of me and Barristermum in "swag" type clothes hahaha

fluffymummy - Hi! You sound mega busy...times flying isnt it! I cant believe im nearly 7 months...very scary! xx

Bettymamma - Good news about your cover! My desk arnt replacing me at all! Although im unsure whether i will come back to any clients

Gingme - haha to DH response! xx

Mixedmamma - I am still trying to get out of the "wine show" night with the girls...there are a couple going that i havnt seen for ages...feel bad, but seems pointelss to me! hahaha will let you know asap xx

Lulubump · 23/10/2007 12:21

Hello All,
I was away at a course all last week, with no internet access, so have missed loads, and no hope of catching up now! Hope you all missed me though

Skim read, and everyone seems fine, thankfully.
Naetha - how're you doing with your vitamin deficiency?
Fruitful - have you made your escape from hospital yet?
Pink Elephant - so sorry to hear your news, hope you're holding up ok.

I have had awful news at work. They've finally finished a long, drawn out job evaluation process, and my job is to have a 25% pay cut after a 5 year pay protection period! I am already paid 30% less than my equivalents in the private sector, so am a bit gobsmacked to say the least. Basically after 10 years experience, I will end up being paid the same as I was when I was a graduate!

Not the kind of news you want when you're having a baby in 10 weeks!!

beller · 23/10/2007 13:24

Lulubump thats terrible...what do you do again?

mixedmama · 23/10/2007 13:24

Lulubump - that is awful, can they just do that? Perhaps time for a move to the private sector after mat leave????
