hello!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
madmouse · 18/10/2007 16:25

Angechica I have the same re bladder. Wondering if it is uterus or even lo trampling it. But I am also wondering if I have a UTI, mostly because that would be a very innocent explanation of some protein in my wee.
Helpful innit, sorry

mixedmama · 18/10/2007 16:26

Pinkelephant - sending lots of hugs and love... anything we can do to help let us know, but please dont feel like you cant cry and be upset, Angechica is right just llet it out.

Am I remembering correctly that they live a fair distance from you, is it possible for you to go for a visit.

beller · 18/10/2007 16:33

Pinkelephant - so sorry to hear about your dad. The others are right, let it out..must be just as bad to botle it up..thinking of you hun xxxxxxxxx

Angechica - yup same for me too..i do go very often, but almost have the feeling of needing to go all the time!

MrsMcSpooky · 18/10/2007 16:34

Oh Pinky I am so very sorry. I really am. Can we do anything?

Angechica ? oh yes, unsatisfactory pees are the order of the moment I reckon.

One of my oldest and best friends has just called to tell me that she?s going to be a Mummy too due in April she?d better not be late or I will have emigrated!!

toomanyshoes · 18/10/2007 16:52

pinkelehant - i'm so sorry to read your news. Agree with the others that you should cry as much as you need to, the baby wil be just fine. Am thinking of you and your family

Jut called hospital and found out that I have tested positive for gestational diabetes. Big pain in arse as means being ultra careful with what I eat, no sugar etc. If it can't be conrolled by diet it means injecting myself with insulin daily Explains why I feel so rubbish and exhausted all the time! I also saw midwife yesterday and my blood pressure has gone up, its normally v low so unusual for me. Have to go to diabetes clinic at hospital on tuesday and midwife again on wednesday to check if bp still up. Am now worrying that it will be diabetes and pre-eclampsia! Will definitely mean induction at 38 or 39 weeks (am hoping not earlier than that as my mum is in Australia until I am 38 weeks and really want her around!!)
On the positive side I am now definitely going to have the baby before Xmas day so can spend it with DD, was worrying about spending xmas in hospital and her missing out on a proper xmas!

madmouse · 18/10/2007 17:25

toomanyshoes - b*gger that is a nuisance. Just the sort of thing you need. Hopefully at least the blood pressure will have a more innocent explanation and behave itself next week. I admire your ability to see the positive though, looking forward to Christmas. Keep us posted on how you get on.

nicky6 · 18/10/2007 18:50

Mixedmama yes still on for the curry but had rotten cold flu for a week and cant post usually during the day so even if i manage it every night i still cant keep up with you chattering lot. Also i know you set up another thread but could not find it so just tell me where and when!!!

Oh my goodness ........ nct class last night about "the birth" they showed us a real live video of a birth, made one of the girls a bit teary, and has made me rethink the pain control thing - but in a really weird way - the woman in the vid had gas and was completely out of it, i was very much of the give me an epidural as soon as i walk in the hospital mentality but now i think maybe i will just grit my teeth - dont like feeling completely out of it, when had stomach ops i find pain relief completely knocks me out.... but we will see.

Big argument with DH over same ridiculous nursery furniture issue and I lhad hysterical fit of crying which i think frightened him as usually I am sooo even tempered and rarely even raise my voice

So sad to hear about your dad, the human spirit can be very strong and hold out against all the odds. My mums dad passed away exactly a month before my sister was born and my mum said that in a weird way although everyone was distraught at the time it was almost as if some of his spirit came back through the birth of a new child. I'm sure doesnt help now but I know it helped her.

Black tie dinner this weekend have nothing to wear and have tried on a few things and hate them all in the shops so am going to wear a black dress i have for work and try to jazz it up with some sparkly things!!!

mrsmc cant give case to anyone else - looks like it will be a last challenge before i stop for a bit. anyway i will be 30weeks when it starts so as long as it doesnt run over into the new year all should be well

anyway must go as have got home early and want to watch heroes i taped last night x

beller · 19/10/2007 07:42

Mornign all!

Nicky6 - I like Heroes too...have to watch it way before i go to bed thoughin case of dreams!! Sorry to hear about your row..hope all is ok now..I start my NCT classes in a couple of weeks.....eek.

Hope everyone is well...what we all up to this weekend? Im taking my dad our for chinese tonight for his 60th birthday..then I have my friend and my godson coming tomorrow for the night..we are going to the local farm..its cool they can feed the animals etc, then staying in to watch the rugby! Loads of guys from our ofice going over in the mng....really hope we have somethng to cheer about...tough game though!

Have a great weekend everyone..thinking of you fruitful xx

Amani · 19/10/2007 09:17

Morning all,

Nicky6 - hope you are feeling better.

Toomanyshoes - take care hun and follow the advice given.

Angechia - thank goodness someone else is in the same boat as me. I feel like everything I drink goes straight to my bladder, but nothing comes out.

Beller - I fancy a bit of Chinese noodles for breakfast now! Enjoy your weekend with your family. Not much planned at the moment, just taking it easy I think and car hunting for DH.

Baby kicking really strongly at night time - does it mean it's going to be nocturnal??
DD woke up at 3am wanting to see pictures of the aeroplanes taken at RAF Cosford and didn't settle down until 4am - so feeling tired today - knew my luck of good night sleep had to end.

Was watching Bride and Prejudice last night - anyone seen it? - it so pants..

OP posts:
MrsBiscuit · 19/10/2007 10:05

Wish I could come to the meet up but it's a bit of a pain to get up to London and back in an evening.

Amani - I've seen Bride and Prejudice and loved it, but I've got dreadful taste in films, with my all time favourite being Grease .

Nicky6 - sympathise with you on the dh/nursery furniture front. Mine's just not grasping that the LO will have clothes, nappies, blankets that will need to be stored somewhere. I'm hoping that NCT classes will make it seem a bit more real for him.

Bit bored at work today.

Angechica · 19/10/2007 10:25

Ladies

Saw something v interesting on my Babycentre email this week: how to get the baby into a good "anterior" position for birth:

www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/labourandbirth/planningyourbabysbirth/babyinposition forbirth/

There is nothing about this in Dr Miriam, so I was intrigued! I can picture us all now spending the last few weeks crawling around on all fours!!

I will be a sporting widow over the weekend (yawn). So I might just take myself off to the mecca of consumerism, the Metro Centre!

Going walking with some friends with "babies in backpacks" on Sun so that will be nice.

Amani · 19/10/2007 10:51

MrsBiscuit - I love Grease!! Watched it so many times and the songs are brilliant! I do like musicals, but thought the songs in Bride and Prejudie (except the first one) were a bit poor.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 19/10/2007 11:03

Morning all,

No plans for the weekend... might try to have a spring clean in sat and just chilling on Sunday. Very boring.

Amani - I thought Bride and Prej was so pants, saw it at the cinema as well. In fact, I tend to dislike most crossover films tho really. Grease however is brill.

MrsMcSpooky · 19/10/2007 12:20

Hey ladies came on here for some cheering up, I?ve just had a financial health check with the bank, after 20 mins the guy couldn?t come up with any ways to reduce our outgoings and stop paying so much interest. He then got me angry as he started suggesting we swoop insurance and utility providers (we shop around for these regularly already) I explained we didn?t want to enter into any new contracts now as we are trying to move house but he didn?t get it ? grrrrr . I think our best bet is to get a secured loan on the house until we do sell at least then we?ll be paying less on credit card debt then but I hate to think how we are going to manage when I am on mat leave ? feel quite sick, why did I leave my job where I got 6 months off paid? chocolate hobnobs are helping though! please all pray for someone to come and fall in love with my house and buy it this weekend!!!

I?m going to make DH a new recipe tomorrow, Red Lamb Curry with Pumpkin & Coconut. I got a pumpkin in my organ veg this week so thought I?d better use it!
How are you all?

Toomanyshoes ? so sorry about the gestational diabetes hon the stress of it all may be the thing bumping your BP up, let?s hope so and that you?ll be able to manage the GD through diet, have you got a very sweet tooth? Will it be hard? Hoping you?ll feel much better when you get going. I?m sure you can wait for your Mum to get here to be induced ? how lovely knowing that you?ll have a new baby for Christmas ? now you can get one of those adorable outfits how sad am I? My nephew was 6 weeks at Christmas time and we got him all dressed up, he looked so cute!

Nicky6 ? I?ve been watching quite a few births on the Living2 channel, it does make you think. I have heard (and seen that on TV) about the gas and air, it?s almost like they cannot concentrate and I?m sure I?d be sick. I am really hoping to use a TENS machine, the water and hopefully some relaxation exercises and maybe some hypnobirthing to get me as far as possible ? the thing is, it is so hard to imagine what the pain is like isn?t it? I had very painful contractions with my MC and imagine it could be like that but much stronger but I guess they could be in my back and legs too ? who knows? At least we know that it is not for too long (all relative) and that the pain will come and go between contractions. Sorry to hear about your row with DH, is it patched up now? That dinner should be fun the BBD (as opposed to the LBD ) sounds like a plan ? I have one that I intend to wear with different accessories and brightly colored pashminas through the festive season . My office party is on 20/12 ? the night before my last day of work before Mat Leave ? we had to choose the menu yesterday ? those weeks are going to fly by aren?t they? Fingers crossed that the case doesn?t run on hon! Hope you enjoyed Heroes, I can?t get enough ? which power would you like? the power of persuasion or of self healing would be pretty cool I think

Beller ? hello I think I should take your lead on when not to watch Heros, DH wouldn?t let me watch Heroes Unmasked last night in case I had dirty dreams about Nathan Petrelli again we went to see Rendition at the cinema last night, it was fab, DH and I were both crying! your weekend sounds fun, stay away from the sheep at the farm

Amani - my baby was kicking like mad in the cinema last night ? I?m worried mine will be nocturnal too! Not seen that film.

MrsBiscuit ? love Grease too

Angechica ? it?s funny, I saw that too and in fact, I?ve been doing that for weeks anyway before I even saw that as it really helps my back, we?ll see if it works

Hello Mixedmama hello Madmouse

Ok, so when is everyone planning to pack their hospital bag? I do worry that I won?t have done it in time and I?ll be stuck there with no stuff! I?d hate to be without my lotions and potions. My Mum had to spend a night in hospital a couple of weeks ago and my Dad brought her the following when she asked him to get her overnight things and things for the next day: bottle of perfume, toothbrush, her best undies, high heels, tiny dress, blusher, lipstick and some jewelry?!

mixedmama · 19/10/2007 12:35

MrsMC - your dad sounds hilarious. I have thrown some bits into mine but no where near done or finished or organised, but at least I would have some basics. My DH is quite good like that tho so sure he would bring the right stuff.

Fingers crossed for your house sale.

Ours has completed and we have paiid our debts (altho not all of them) and have made a total profit of about £500 but at lleast it is a little stress off of us now. Still trying to figure out how to pay everything mind you... I had a really good job at a really good company when i last went oon mat leave and my I fell out with my manager and let my pride get the better of me and decided not to go back and have regretted it ever since (much as i love temping). We would never have actually fell into financial hardship otherwise (plus another silly decision by DH but that is another story) plus I would be gettign a fab maternity package right now. Oh well.

MrsMcSpooky · 19/10/2007 12:39

Mixedmama - that's great news about your sale, I can imagine how good that must feel. Don't look back hon - there's always a would have, could have, should have isn't there!?

gingeme · 19/10/2007 12:54

Right guess Im realy anal about organising my hospital bag as it is done and ready and waiting at the foot of my bed. Yes realy!
MrsMcSpooky fingers crossed for your house sale. Chocolate HobNobs are the best
Were having our lo's first birthday do on Sunday. A few close friends and family coming for a bit of tea. Cant wait. Gonna buy him a big 1 balloon
toomanyshoes did you have any signs that you had GD? If so what were they? What have they advised you to do? Sorry to ask but Ive got my Glucose test on Monday and cosidering how many people have said how 'big' I am Im a little worried now.
How are you doing Fruitful? I hope your not going too stir crazy.

katyt1 · 19/10/2007 12:56

thanks awen - found you all again.

haven't been on in ages so big to everyone

all fine here, saw m/w yesterday, baby was breech but has turned now so big relief.

good luck with hosue sales, they are sooo stressful. my parents are just starting the process - there had been plans for them to move near us now they're not which i'm a bit peeved about but hey, they're not that useful when they are here!

w/e - dh away all day sat which is pants, then rugby, then chill on sunday. may have to find some mums for something on sat or we#ll go stir crazy here.

bad luck re diabetes - i have my test on halloween, everything crossed i don't have it as it would ruin home birth plans.

[saw posts re home birth a while back - i had a great one with ds and hoping for even better this time round, well quicker would be nice (19hrs last time!)....]

hope everyone's keeping well, hooray it's friday!

beller · 19/10/2007 12:57

Mrsmcjnr... good luck with the house! My naughty dream was about one of my clients last night .havnt seen him for about 6 months either.not sure why he was involved at all! hahaha Come to think of it, when i was ill the other week..i had been to the farm and fed the animals.....will leave that to my godson this time!!

Mixedmamma - the chilling sounds good..not boring! xx

Angchica - my yoga teacher is always saying about being on all fours for 15 mins a day is good for baby positioning! xx

Amani · 19/10/2007 13:02

For my hospital bag - just bought some body suits and sleep suit - haven't packed it as such.

MM- congrats on the house sale - remember reading a thread about it a while ago.

Hope yours go through Mrs McSpooky.

Gingme- Happy birthday to your little one.

Tucking into a Subways with lots of jalapeños, yummy!!

gingeme · 19/10/2007 13:07

Amani · 19/10/2007 13:14

Someone at work just forwarded me a link from the Daily Mail website about :

The first year of motherhood 'is the loneliest in a woman's life', survey shows

www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/health/healthmain.html?in_article_id=488243&in_page_id=1774

made me feel depressed just reading it...

OP posts:
mixedmama · 19/10/2007 13:24

i heard about that article.... I think that i made friends and stuff... altho i can see how once you are at home alone with baby that could be the case.

toomanyshoes · 19/10/2007 13:29

MrsMc - hadn't thought of the xmas outfit thing! Got one for DD when she was about 8 months and did a pic of her dressed as santa which i made into Xmas cards, was so cute maybe I could do one of DS as birth announcement/xmas cards! I do have a fairly sweet tooth but no too worried about the lack of sugar, however am a major tea addict and not allowed caffeine so much more bothered about that. Caffeine free just not the same!
Annoying about the bank man! We have managed to get a 6 month payment break on the mortgage to cover the unpaid part of my mat leave and I will continue doing bits of freelance work to bump up the funds. Have a good mat package but think it's always a worry when you go from knowing how much you will have every month to mat pay. If its any consolation I was amazed at how much less I spent on mat leave with DD than I did when at work. Babies don't cost much once you have bought the basics and was spending a whole lot less on socialising for quite a while!! (not sure if that sounds like much of a consolation actually!!)

Gigeme - have been feeling v light headed off and on for weeks and had a couple of really funny turns where was incredibly faint and breathless. Midwife did finger prick blood test and blood sugar low at the time so they were probably hypos. Have also been ridiculously tired with zero energy (as in walking up the stairs wipes me out for about ten mins!). Not much thirstier than normal though. You can have very few symptoms though so not always easy to guess without the test. V annoying though as initial bloods with raised glucose were done 9 weeks ago so should have been tested immediately and could have contolled it for all that time but nobody bothered to check results. Only got them coz I chased re my anti D. Hope your test goes well, have you had it before? If not remember to take something to eat with you for straight after as you will feel v odd having had nothing but lucozade for hours!

Glad I am not the only one to have packed hospital bag, mine is ready to go and just as well considering latest developments! Just need to put in snacks/drinks and make up bag (VVV important!!! those post birth pics will haunt you FOREVER!!)

Also, don't all throw things at me but have actually finished my Xmas shopping Normally do it last minute but was feeling so rough that couldn't face dragging around shops when even bigger so got it all sorted, just need to wrap it up and do cards. Just need to finish the babies room (put up curtains, assemble cot etc) and I am ready. Will then have a very long lie down I think!

Might well be able to come along to the meet up next Friday - as long as the BP goes down it would be great to meet some of you in the flesh!

ps just remembered, I finally did the toilet roll test and was 10 sheets!!! I am giant!
