Hi sideways - try the Icandy cherry, its really light. I could hardly lift any of the others. I am having a pram debabte on the parententing thread at the mo as I'm so baffled by it all.

sideways · 14/10/2007 18:56

They didn't have the cherry in stock.

I'm baffled too. I liked the bugaboo cameleon but £1000 with all the bits and I can't justify that!

Will look for your other thread.

LilyLoo · 14/10/2007 19:50

Hey all. Have just about caught up and am at the loo roll measurement. Will try it and let you know.
Really wishing i could have a nursery at the mo for this little one. I have been putting baby stuff in the loft so it's out of the way until baby comes. Although have asked my sister to dig out some of the little baby grows as have got 3 designated drawers for baby, am hoping i won't have to put baby in one though!
Have had a good clear out to make some room and have spent all weekend freecycling !
Although with baby due so close to xmas am sure that space will soon be gone!
Ca't believe it coming up so quickly. Hope all ok and i will try and make more of a contribution next week

I had a good weekend up north with my family, although my nan has turned into a right handful. She didnt recognise us at first, but was ok after a while..then we went out for lunch and she started. She told me i looked like a witch with my hair straight (it is curly, but have worn it straight for years)...told my sister she had never been good enough for her husband , and told me we were all "drug taking prostitutes" from down south...hahaha Was quite sad, but couldnt help laugh at the time We told her she was going to be a great grandmother again, and she asked me if i was married..i answered YES!!! Small white lie i thought, didnt think i could take more of a tongue lashing from her hahaha

Hope you all had a good weekend!! Well done England...Bring on South Africa next saturday

Amani · 15/10/2007 08:25

Morning all!

Hope you all are well.

My, my you all have been so busy - so just skimmed read.

Interview went well on Friday, had usual questions which I had prepared for. Had two tests aswell, the general verbal reasoning I found a breeze, but the stats one a bit more of challenge. The only thing that concerned me was that there were a number of internal candidates that applied for the same job and they appeared to be quite friendly with the personnel staff supervising the whole thing and couldn't help think if they might have had a little bit of a heads up with the interview process. I've seen it happen in other organisations where internal staff are given a few "tips" prior to interviews being held for internal and external staff and surprise, surprise they have got the job! I find out today whether I have passed and got through to the second stage of interviewing, so we'll see.

Thank you to all you lovely ladies who wished me well.

Am getting bad heartburn and downing lots of milk lately. Baby was having a party inside last night, so was sleeping on and off so feel a bit shattered this morning.

Fruitful -how you doing?.

Good to hear MM is back, but sorry to hear you have been ill. Did you have a nice Eid?

Hello everyone else! Sorry to hear about all the sickness, but think last trimester now (must start buying more things!!)

Beller - talking about dreams - I dreamt last night I was involved in one of the world greatest robbery!! I stole £400 million from a rich man living in an LA hotel and was spending the rest of my life on the run (but very glamorous!!)

Angechica · 15/10/2007 08:56

Re prams, the things I considered were:

  • do you need to go on buses
  • will it fit in car boot
  • what kind of walking will you need to do with it (all terrain or just urban)
  • do you want baby facing you as there are only a few that reverse (Loola, M & P Pramette) or you can get one with a carrycot so they can face you when small (Bugaboo).

I have just got a Quinny puschchair off Ebay. I like it because it came with the Dreami carrycot which makes it into a pram when baby is small and is going to be really handy as you can leave baby to sleep in it in the house as well.

It's a beast of a thing and really heavy though. As a pushchair it does fit into the boot of my Clio which is miraculous. It's an all terrain job which we need as we have a dog and lots of off-road walks around us.

It is actually a couple of years old as I think it is the forerunner of the Buzz. But its in good nick and I got the lot plus loads of accessories for £120 so can't complain! Will prob also get a lightweght stroller as well for travel etc.

sabinar · 15/10/2007 09:18

Beller - you're very good to be so kind to your nanna if she regularly says those kinds of things... you've got more patience than me!

eh. I'm starting to be more thankful that we had a pushchair offloaded onto us - even though the reason it was given to us was that the people who had it before found it too bulky. I don't think it's what I would have chosen (I really would have liked one of the ones where they LO faces you) but then again, I also want a bit of an off-roader and am partial to the 3 wheelers, so I think that ultimately I would have been compromising anyway. Perhaps when LO is a little older and getting too heavy in a sling we'll pick out something that we actually know we need. Perhaps.

I was so tired this weekend! Could hardly get out of bed. Fortunately the bit of work I was supposed to be doing was deferred. I did make it to pregnancy yoga on Saturday morning and have sore shoulders and a sore butt muscles as a result. So much for 90mins of relaxation! It does feel good to use my body again though - I hadn't realised how much I'd been 'protecting' it lately, if you know what I mean. I'm trying to be v good and get to 2 yoga classes a week as well as a pilates class. Hopefully it all pays off!

I'm seeing my midwife this morning and have a long list of things to talk to her about - nothing bad, thankfully.

It's a busy looking week ahead but I think I'm going to get to do it mostly from home this week, which is great. And a short week - we're off to Barcelona on Thursday evening. Yay!

beller · 15/10/2007 09:42

sabinar - she has always had a bit of a sharp tongue.but not that bad ..I normally take her away for a weekend a year..but shes too frail to do that now.and thank god really, im not sure i could cope!

fluffymummy · 15/10/2007 10:28

Morning all

Absolutely knackered today...between DS having bad dreams, DH having a restless night, bump deciding to kick my bladder all night and sore, achey, crampey legs and hips really didn't get more than about 3 hours last night

Going to bed early doesn't really help much - anyone got any homeopathic/herbally suggestions? I'd love to get more than 1.5-2 hours continuous sleep before the baby arrives, given that I won't get much more than that for a while afterwards

beller · 15/10/2007 10:28

also just a quick question....Some of you have been talking about your midwife visits..and that she has said about size of baby etc...Mine just takes BP...does babys HB and feels tummy....she has never said anything about size or anything like that?

sideways · 15/10/2007 10:35

Mine did heartbeat and bp last time, that's it. Nothing about size.

Mind you, I can't remember the last time I saw her - about 10 weeks ago?

FrankAwenstein · 15/10/2007 10:40

Sabinar - hope all goes well at MW - got my appt tomorrow.

Beller - Well done for keeping so jovial with your nanna. Is hard not to take it all personally, is she depressed? Quite common in older age.

Cazzy - re the Bugaboo Gecko - managed to get it for £449 from 2kuk baby shop. Their online service is babys247 - was lucky they had one is shop stock room as waiting time from bugaboo is 8 weeks atm. The chameleon is also cheaper from them. Poor you with UTI - found that lemonade mixed with cranberry juice is lovely tho!

Angechic - well done for getting your pram sorted The bugaboo is forward and rear facing in pram and pushchair mode too. One of the selling points for us.

MIxedmama - Am realy glad to see you back we were getting worried. Sorry that you have been poorly Dont worry about trying to catch up (pretty impossible with us gasbags! )

Amani - pmsl at your dream Well done for interview, although is off putting when candidates seem a bit friendly with the staff there. With you on the sleeping, last 2 nigths not been able to settle at all. Am shattered now. Lucky for me am at home, even so I can manage to nap in the day. Will try tho

LIlyloo -know what you mean about xmas coming up soon, need to get ds's pressies all out of the way. Laughed at image of baby in drawer as reminded me of the britas empire (sp) does anyone remeber that?

Susie - how exciting about Wednesday lovely to be in new home for xmas and for baby! Think by the time ours is all sorted will be moving with small baby.. yikes.

Looked at cars this weekend (although were going to keep corsa decided that best just to get a bigger car). Looking at ford focus as seems to be just right size Cheap to repair and maintain too.

FrankAwenstein · 15/10/2007 10:45

fluffy - my MW recommend only a few drops of lavender (too much acts as stimulant) good for kids as well. Sympathise tho as am up every couple of hours for loo and also cant get comfy and pudding also has active time at sleep time.

Beller - mine measured me at last appointment - 24 weeks I was measuring a bit larger for dates at that time. I had a go measuring myself last night and I might now be smaller for dates. Will find out tomorrow as I am crap at measuring! The MW also checked postion of pudding who was head down then. Will find out how he is lying tomorrow again, expect it is oblique as funny shaped bump. Am also likely to have bloods doen for iron levels as 29 weeks now, have scan booked for monday next week (growth scan) as they reckon i am likely to have another big one.

Amani · 15/10/2007 10:47

My m/w checks always checks:
urine
heart beat
fundal height
blodd pressure

she hasn't started pressing on my belly yet, to find out position of the baby. Think she might do that at my 31 week appointment.

29+1 at the mo...

Awen - how's your DS?

OP posts:
Naetha · 15/10/2007 11:01

Morning all

Haven't had any internet access at home since last wednesday, and you forget how much you rely on it!! Needless to say this weekend was quite frustrating!

My mouth has completely erupted in mouth ulcers I don't usually get them (one or two a year usually) and rarely more than one at once - I currently have 9 I don't know if this is linked to general pregnancy, or possible vitamin deficiency, but it hurts all the same!

I thought I was going for another blood test on Friday, but was actually a GP appointment to discuss my results, but they couldn't discuss them as someone had tried to highlight them before they were faxed through, and when it came out at the other end it was blacked out rather than highlighted. Only in the NHS eh!
Got more blood tests on Wednesday, as well as my MW appointment, so hopefully something can be sorted out. In all honesty I'll take anything if it sorts out the headaches, mouth ulcers, exhaustion and general crapness out!
Sorry I'm feeling very sorry for myself today!!

Unfortunately the weekend wasn't as productive as I'd've liked, although we've finally got to the stage where we can strip the wallpaper in the nursery. That will begin next weekend, then its a case of decorating it and getting furniture sorted out.

Pushchair-wise we've decided on the Quinny Buzz, just psyching myself up (and saving up the cash!) to go out and buy it

I'm so not in the mood for working today!! I hope all of you that have been feeling under the weather (Mixedmama, Cazzy etc) and hope you're all feeling better soon

Amani · 15/10/2007 11:04

Just found out I didn't make it to the to the second stage

test results were good, so I assume it was the interview. Bet those internal candidates got through....

OP posts:
FrankAwenstein · 15/10/2007 11:05

Amani - he is fine. Played in Rugby tournament at weekend (4.5 hours!) so he is shattered but happy. Back at school and bought home his school guitar on Friday.

Naetha - poor you with your mouth ulcers Typical re the results, hope they get it sorted for you. Exciting about pushchair. I found it really hard to decide but was very relieved to make a decision.

sideways · 15/10/2007 11:06

Amani - sorry you didn't get through

Awen - glad ds is back at school and enjoying himself

FrankAwenstein · 15/10/2007 11:07

Amani Wonder wether they noticed pumpkin too. why they feck if they have lined up an internal candidate do they put other people to the inconvenience of attending interview etc when they have already decided.

Amani · 15/10/2007 11:09

Awen - excatly what I was thinking - they were eyeing up my bump but they didn't say anything.

Arrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
