Amani - big hugs hon...agree, not sure what the point was of interviewing you if they wanted the job to go internal. Unless they felt they had to be seen to interview external candidates to 'prove' they'd made it open? I imagine its really hard applying for new jobs with a visible bump...of course they're never going to say anything but you just know they're thinking it....

Naatha - you sounds really run down. Can you take a few days off work to recover a bit?

Welcome meimango!!

beller · 15/10/2007 12:08

sory you didnt get thru amani x

MrsMcSpooky · 15/10/2007 12:16

Morning ladies my baby is due 3 months today ? why is it then that it feel like a lot longer than 6 months that I have been pregnant? This 9 month thing is just a myth isn?t it?

Madmouse ? crikey am I the biggest at 9 pieces then? too many cookies I think! hope the jeans are still comfy! My Littlewoods ones are fab, so comfy and they don?t fall down ? yipeee!

FrankA ? congratulations on your shopping! Great that they had one in stock ? see, it was meant to be! we didn?t get our bugaboo in JL either, we got it cheaper elsewhere plus a free maxicosi car seat and as the company?s guarantee is for 2 years, we didn?t think buying it from JL would make any difference. I did warn you about the wait didn?t I? sorry, thought that I had! Annoyingly, DH ?s head was fine and we went out again and got squiffy!!! Mine you, he was feeling lousy yesterday and is choked with the cold today what colours are you painting with? Are you selling your house too? I have a growth scan next Thursday 25th, can?t wait to see Beanie again though as usual, I am scared too. Glad DS is mended

Sideways ? how are you feeling these days? Still really sick? Have you tried the pillow between your legs at night? It does seem to ease my hip pain a bit though like you, I am tossing and turning like a whale (DH says! ) all night! shattered today, had some wild dreams too the whole buggy debate is huge, it is harder than choosing a car if you ask me. After weeks of looking and researching and testing we?ve ordered a bugaboo chameleon, we truly think it?s the best one for us and we?re excited about it now Ours cost us £700 and that is for the updated model which has just come out, a foot muff, car adapters and a maxicosi car seat. It was a deal we found so do shop around. Still very expensive I know but we hope to have many bugaboo beanies after this one . The icandy cherry is lighter than the other icandies but still quite heavy I thought.

Gingeme bet your front room is looking fab! It?s always fun giving a room a change of look. Sorry to hear about the pains, sounds like that is a common complaint amongst us at the mo. no idea what sweaty bollocks taste like I was watching a birth programme with DH yesterday and the woman winged and cried and snapped throughout her labour, she just sat there throwing her arms about. I know I can?t imagine what it?ll be like but it was obvious to me that by not concentrating on anything, she just wasn?t getting through it well, I hope I can remember to focus on something like breathing ? what do I know though!!?

Susiemj hi. How exciting about the house move on Weds, don?t over do it now! LOL at the name issues hope the equipment shop is good there?s always the internet. How are you feeling these days?

Poor you Mixedmama ? hope you are feeling much better and I look forward to hearing more from you soon

Hey Cazzy sorry about the UTI have you considered a 2nd hand bugaboo? Lots on ebay and one on the for sale section on MN too.

I have MW on Weds, do you think they?ll test my glucose tolerance? Is that standard?

Hey Pinkelephant chat away on buggies but also check out the other threads on the subject in Pregnancy, there are loads!! My friend (also on MN) LOVES her cherry. Her baby is a few months old now and she really is delighted with it. I found it a bit small carry cot wise and a bit heavy but that was just me. Some of the recent buggy debates in Pregnancy talk about this one. The whole thing is baffling but it is the biggest and most expensive purchase often so worth mulling over I think

Hello Lilyloo sounds like the nesting instinct is kicking in with you!

Hey Beller ? how are you feeling? well Horlicks led to a very erotic dream last night including my ex fiancée not sure it was very pleasant really! always a relief to wake up next to my lovely hubby after those dreams even if he does have a cold and was sweaty and clammy! Stumpy the cat is pretty fed up with the whole plaster thing but can be appeased with choice pieces of roast chicken LOL how I wish for a bowl cracking, equinesque wee!!! Sorry to hear about your Gran ? sounds a bit like DH?s she says the most awful things to people now I guess if you don?t laugh, you?d cry!! My MW visits sound a bit like yours, last time (23+1) she did measure the fundal height though and told me it was 24 and she always checks my urine.

Amani ? glad the interview went well but I am so sorry that you didn?t get through I am so impressed that you can be bothered to think about your career at the mo, I just can?t be arsed roll on mat leave, 9 weeks on Friday! LOL at your dream!

Angechica we also wanted one with an extendable handle as people of many heights will be pushing the buggy. Sounds like you got a bargain

Sabinar ? well done doing the yoga, I must do some exercise soon, the Davina DVD is still untouched! Hope the MW appointment goes well. Have a lovely break in Barcelona

Hey Fluffymummy sorry to hear that you are feeling so tired

Naetha I have an ulcer too, appeared today and is very sore so can empathise what numpties with your results! hope Weds brings some sort of solution for you. Hope you feel up to the work on the nursery at the weekend. Well done on making a buggy choice, something to tick off the list I?m now considering the nature?s nest (hammock bed), bouncers, feeding chairs, sterilisers and breast pumps!

Meimango welcome! Lurk no more

sabinar · 15/10/2007 12:34

MrsMsSpooky - your posts are absolutely awe-inspiring. I don't know how you do it

Midwife appt. went well, she's such a gem. I know it's a lot of money but I'm really glad we forked out for an independent midwife. For my peace of mind, it's worth it and them some - no expensive nursery for me tho'! (In fact, we were just talking about this today and she doesn't think I'm mad for not wanting to worry about organising a nursery in advance. I think we'll just have LO in with us for a few months and then when he's ready to move, we'll decorate him up a room - with all the bits and bobs ordered off the internet and home delivered no doubt!)

Incidentally, she also said she has some other clients (post-natal) who are using the natures nest bed and who are really liking it and finding it a good choice.

Amani - sucky news re: not making it through to the next interview. Although, I have to agree, I think it's really impressive that you're still thinking about progressing your career at this stage... I'm struggling more and more every day! (like, what am I doing here when I should be finishing off two projects!).

I think I am really missing out on the erotic dream front... I wonder if I've missed out completely or if they'll kick in soon! I've also only had one baby dream. Having lots of weird and vivid dreams tho'.

Naetha - you poor thing. Ulcers are so horrid. When I have one I can hardly think of anything else and can't stop playing with them with my tongue which I'm sure just makes them worse. I hope they clear up soon!

mixedmama · 15/10/2007 13:01

Okay ladies. I arrived at 9.00 and have just finished catching up.

Feeling much better thanks ladies altho absolutely knackered - a full nights sleep is just completely impossible now. Those leg, ankle, calf cramps you have all been talking about are driving me mad, and DH snoring has reached new heights. Slept on the sofa from 4 am last night (so didnt actually sleep at all) have told him that tonight it is his turn on the sofa.... problem is our fllat is so small that i can still hear him.

Amani - sorry to hear about the job, but still think it is great you applied. Eid was good. Visiting one of my grandmas friends and had a massive Turkish breakfast with proper tea leaf tea...mmmmm. Did visit in laws in the end, but thankfully took my cousin with me so at least had someone to talk to (MRSMCSPOOKY had to laugh at the ILs comment). It was better than expected, and I cunningly planned the day so that we would have to leave there by 4.30 but they also have parking restrictions so could only stay for two hours so worked out well.... then my dad took us all out for dinner... DS looked great, he had a turqouise asian outfit with really nice oriental embroidery on it... looked great,, going to see if i can upload some piccies.

Fruitful - so sorry about your hospital stay. Fingers crossed that the placenta moves. I had a friend who was in hospital with this and I know it was very stressful, you sound like you are coping amazingly well under the circumstances.

Barristermum - defo going to book Macbeth, I always try to go for the expensive tickets at theatre as it makes such a difference to the experience. Ii went to a concert in the royal albert hall last weekend (fab Turkish superstar) and my parents paid as a gift and we hhad a box, it was so awesome and mmade such a difference to the experience.

Gingme - fab news about DS4 walking. Fast learner.

toomanyshoes - very of mat leave. i have officially told them i am leaving on 30 November at 35 weeks. Feels good to have finally put a date on it.

fluffymummy - i was thinking about trying to convince DS to walk everywhere but since you dont seem confident i think i am kidding myself as my DS wont even be 2. Oh well wishful thiniing.

Lulubump - I am too hot for coats but the shops shouldnt assume the saem for everyone.

Susie - I think the two slings is brilliant idea. I am going to try to do the same.

Angechica - glad things are looking up. Re: PND, somebody said bananas are good for this as well. Try not to stress yourself about it, as that wont help, I know that is easy to say. I am really keen to try to keep control this time and am here if you feel you need to speak to anyone about it.

Beller - sorry you were ill too.... great newws about mat pay.

MrsMcSpooky - Marmiite comment is priceless. I gave some to Ds to see if he liked it and his face was a picture. Hillarious.

Think I have caughht up...

hi to everyone. by the way are we still on for this meet up... i will resurrect the thread.

fluffymummy · 15/10/2007 13:05

Welcome back MM - as you can tell, we've been a bit worried about you

mixedmama · 15/10/2007 13:08

It is so touching that we all worry when we dont hear from someone.... makes me really feel like we are a little family.

Amani · 15/10/2007 13:10

thanks guys

Sorry naetha - missed that bit about your mouth ulcers. don't know if it is a pregnancy sysmpton, but hope you feel better soon.

MrsMcJnr - have you sold your house yet? You know I've been looking all year for the next step up and it was only recently that I saw an advert for the job. It sucks that the timing was bad, but I wanted to see how far I could get with the whole job application process. I guess I will never know, as I don't know if I was judged according to my skills or bump.

Mixedmama - welcome back - hope you are better. Please do upload your pictures of Eid!

Now off to find that cake....

OP posts:
Angechica · 15/10/2007 13:24

Thank you MM. Glad you OK. At least my blood sugar was Ok so NFA on the diabetes for the moment.

MrsMc was thinking yesterday I am due in 3 months, as well. 27 weeks with 13 weeks to go sounds better...specially as I only have 7 weeks to go at work. Am back there now but it was scarily easy to get a sicknote (first one I've ever had!).

Naetha · 15/10/2007 14:03

I'm also finishing on the 30th November - can't wait!!

Another colleague of mine who is 6 weeks ahead of me is finishing on Wednesday - I'm very !!

fluffymummy · 15/10/2007 14:08

At the moment I'm not due to finish until 13th Jan....so am deeply of all of you!!!

Amani · 15/10/2007 14:11

Roll on 7th Dec and aiming for LO to arrive by 22nd Dec, instead of the 30th Dec due date!

By the way, just ate a whole tub of chargrilled red pepper houmous instead of chocolate cake - yum yum!

OP posts:
Housemum · 15/10/2007 14:18

Hello - thought I'd stick my head round the door again, since the MW adjusted my date I've been on the December thread.

Thanks to whoever suggested the "pregnant bellies" site - it's always good to compare! But don't be as daft as me and take a look at the 39 weekers - it's too scary!! Glad to see I'm pretty normal (funny how different people's opinions are - last week on the same day one person said to me - "have you really got 11 weeks to go" and another said "but your bump is tiny" - how do you figure that one out??!!)

Toilet roll test - 8-and-a-half of Sainsbury's own brand so pretty average!

madmouse · 15/10/2007 14:39

Hi all

Lots of tired ill and recovering mums on here. Hug for all of you!
Was pretty knackered myself this weekend and did not do much. LO likes it when I am lazy, that's when he does target practice. He can now produce a bump in my stomach wall when I lay on my back. Hope it is rugby not footy .

I am also off on 30 November and have started to go through all my files to prepare for handover to new manager. Next week we are off to Holland to see the parents. Nice break, then back for a month. Must say the daily train journey from Oxford to Birmingham is starting to break me up a bit, which is why I am taking leave at 7months. Anybody else finds commuting tough?

MrsMcSpooky · 15/10/2007 14:49

Thanks Sabinar I worry that I bore you all to tears but I do like to catch up on all the chat! glad the appointment went well hadn?t realised that your MW is independent, that is really interesting, and will she be at the birth? Or is that a really stupid question we have hired a doula for the birth but haven?t done any prep with her yet. She is away for some dates around our ?slot? too so I really hope she will be here though she did say she?d arrange cover. We are not having a nursery because of the proposed move; the baby will be in with us for 6 months anyway, safe from our curious pussy cats. I am consoling myself with the thought that baby Beanie will have a lovely, gender appropriate room when we get to Spain instead. Thanks for the chat on the nature?s nest, definitely going to get one

Mixedmama ? MN catch ups are what work is for isn?t it?! bananas and milk are meant to help prevent those cramps and don?t point your toes in bed. Good for you going to the in-laws, take the moral high ground! DS must have looked so smart in his outfit glad you managed the concert and enjoyed it! Not long now until mat leave for you! Of course we are a family!

Amani ? nope we had a bit of excitement before our holiday as a couple asked us to fix a closing date (up here, you set a figure over which you expect people to routinely offer about 20% extra, anyone interested notes their interest and when you have a few notes, you go to a closing date where those parties bid against each other) the second and third sets of people who?d noted told us it was too soon for them and the couple who pushed for it didn?t bother to offer so we?ve now fixed the price and changed the viewing times to open viewing between 2-4 on a Sunday (which is a pain!) I so hope we sell it soon, I am getting worried about moving very pregnant or worse not at all and being really strapped for cash when the baby arrives sometimes I can?t sleep for worrying though I know that won?t help. I?m sorry about the job hon

Angechica LOL about the sick note, I know what you mean the MWs just don?t want you working do they! Let?s hope it is only 13 weeks to go (or less ? I am so impatient to meet Beanie!) and not 15 more!

Hey Housemum

sabinar · 15/10/2007 15:17

MrsMcSpooky - yep, our Indy Midwife will definitely be at the birth - that's a big part of the reason for going independent for us - getting the same person throughout the pregnancy and also at the birth. We actually have a primary midwife and a secondary one - we had just the one up until a few weeks ago, and now we alternate between two between now and the birth.

At the birth we get the two midwives together for the whole time - and then you get post natal care where they come around until you're on your feet and help you get everything under control, make sure you're all ok, help out with the breastfeeding thing etc.

I know a lot of people think that it's madness to spend money on a midwife... I just tell them that it's because we're not native to the UK, we don't have the same expectations of the NHS as the natives do!

Anyway - it's been brilliant so far (especially the bit where they come to your house to do the appointments at a time that suits you - even if it's 7.30 at night!) and also to know that they're available on the phone 24/7 if there's ever anything to stress about. I also feel really great being able to know who will be there to help out at the birth and that I know I can trust them and their judgement and they've gotten to know me throughout the pregnancy etc.

Anyways... that's my unpaid promotion for independent midwives.

(disclaimer - we interviewed quite a few before we picked ours though... they're definitely not all created equal!)

I know it's not for everyone but it's been great for us

beller · 15/10/2007 15:29

im off on 30th nov too!!!!!! We cna have a mini party x

MrsMcSpooky · 15/10/2007 16:32

Been very lazy all day playing on here and it seems pointless doing any work now with 30 mins to go so I am now feeling at a loose end - anyone out there? what's your baby related mission this week? who still has an innie like me? what's your no1 luxury item you'd like for the baby/you? anyone else worry that Dh won't see them the same way after giving birth?

MrsMcSpooky · 15/10/2007 16:33

If you were my boss, would you sack me? (joke - no answers to that please!)

mixedmama · 15/10/2007 16:48

mmmm... lux item.... I would love one of the bf chairs, which i know seem essential but i really really dont have the space, but woul dlove one. in terms of real luxury... not sure i can think of anything really.

MrsMcSpooky · 15/10/2007 16:51

I started a thread on those here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/49/405382?stamp=071015142533 hopefully I'll be in a rented house with all our stuff in storage when the baby comes so if I have this chair at least I'll have somewhere comfy to sit! Still wondering if it's a good one though!

I'd also like some massive diamond earrings but I won't be getting those

Bettymamma · 15/10/2007 17:01

Hi all

Have been busy at work doing nothing today but have a spare 5 mins on my hand. been reading the thread all day but no time to catch up or write anything.

Answering a couple of MrsMcSpooky's questions though - i have an outie now and its quite gross, dh seeing you the same - he will be so proud of you after all of this. When dd's head came out during birth I shouted at him not to look and I'm really happy he didn't! He'd have that image in his head forever.

Beller/Naetha - i'm up for the party - am off the same week

Mixedmama - Good to have you back. Where's the meet up thread? I WILL attend this time.

Got to go and pick up the LO - speak properly tomorrow.xxx
