hello!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lulubump · 11/10/2007 13:28

Welcome back Mrs Mc, the update queen!!

Angechica, sorry to hear that you're feeling down, and hope your UTI clears up soon (they're awful awful awful!!). About yr 'issues' with DH, I saw another post of yours about it a while ago - hope you're not letting yourself get tensed up and stressed out. Hormones = whirling emotions, and if you need to let off steam and have a good rant, that's what we're here for.

beller · 11/10/2007 13:30

naetha - thats the problem with pernicious anaemia, you CANT absorb B12 from tablets or food. Thats why it has to be directly injected into the blood stream. I used to spend a fortune on really expensive b12 tablets etc...ate all the right foods..I always used to go and try to give blood too, but everytime i came back anaemic..but no-one ever tested further!
Cant say I have had the electirc shocks though?

fluffymummy - you have made me re-think re the chair!!

Mrsmcjnr - great to have your updates back!! Im with you about the fresh air as well..all for it..but why cant you walk the baby in a sling or pram?

Lulubump - yup made sure i took an 1 hour 10 mins today!!

beller · 11/10/2007 13:47

Also..anyone getting "sticth" likepains down one side? Mine are on rhs.but really painful...kept me awake last night and have had them most of today...stretching pains?

gingeme · 11/10/2007 13:56

Thankyou for clearing that one up for me susiemj. Yes I found the glider chair briliant mrsmcjnr but it got a bit knackered as my sil had it for a good few years before me as she has 4 dc and I used it for 2 of mine and it really started to clunk a bit and was very threadbare so we got rid of it. In fact my Mum has it now and my Dad has great fun swinging around and roccking in it. I never used the stool though. Tried it once and it made me feel motion sick but it came in useful for the other dc to sit and play on.
Glad to hear your doing well fruitful and you are enjoying your lap top.
Well have to go dh clearing out our shed and weve founds ds1 old bike and stabilisers so were off to the park to see if we can persuade ds3 to have a go.
Catch you all later.
Take care xx

Angechica · 11/10/2007 13:59

thanks Lulu.

DH being really lovely since he realised outburst affected me so much it earned me a week on ths sick! have to say it's not that he's being personally nasty to me or anything like that.

We have come to conclusion we will find our way into parenthood as and when things happen & not to fret about it in the meantime. My GP was lovely and talked a lot of sense - made me realise that men often cannot contemplate abstract things, whereas for us, the wriggling bump and hormonal-related nesting instincts make it so much more real.

I have a definite feeling that pregnancy hormones do not agree with my mental state, though. It's like having raging PMT 24-7 sometimes. I also worry about getting PND - my mum had it bad with me.

What has happened to Mixedmama - she posted on my other thread about the above last week but some people on here seem to be worried about her? Hope she is OK.

Lulubump · 11/10/2007 14:35

Can sympathise about the hormones! Sometimes I transform into a raging drama queen, and end up laughing at myself. Have started making myself wait a few minutes before I have a go at poor DH, just to check if I'm over reacting.

It is very hard for men to bond with the bump, esp if its their first I think. Plus, they usually have their own worries about being a dad and childbirth, and all react/cope with it in different ways.

I had an argument with DH recently, because he wasn't as interested by all things baby related as I am, and we ended up having a good long talk in the end - turns out the poor bloke's terrified of seeing me in lots of pain during labour, and not being able to do anything about it.

fluffymummy · 11/10/2007 14:50

Hi MrsMc, great update and welcome back ...very relieved you can still access MN from work!!

My Brest Friend is available here www.expressyourselfmums.co.uk/product.asp?group_id=49&country_id=0 but is actually about half the price in the US (about $30) so it might be worth investigating sourcing it outside the UK. I think I paid £35 for mine 2 years ago and it was money well spent

beller · 11/10/2007 15:35

yayyyyyyy
have just had some fab news...they are almost going to double my maternity pay!!!! Just got called in by the MD...said he is just giving me a lump sum...no strings and I can have it when i like...
Not such a bad firm now after all xx

susiemj · 11/10/2007 15:45

Hooray! They must like you! Well done.

Naetha · 11/10/2007 15:48

I'm very Beller!!!

Hopefully I'll get my promotion and payrise in January, but as my company don't do anything over the basic, I won't see a penny of it until I come back a year later. Hopefully it will make a small difference when I go back P/T though.

Just got to rely on DH getting decent payrises now

beller · 11/10/2007 15:55

Must admit it is going to help as obviously just my money coming in...im lucky enough to have savings, but didnt want to rely on them too much...
Will have fingers crossed for you in Jan Naetha!

MrsMcJnr · 11/10/2007 16:31

FrankAwen(suchalongnameI?veforgottentherestm) so glad you don?t have gest diabetes! Great price for the Gecko!

Hey ladylush ? hows you? can you explain the sling issue to me? My sis is going to lend me her BB but now I am worried.

Beller ? poor you, you are in the wars! I had pains like that one night last week, I wondered if they were BH too. Wow Beller ? that?s fab news!!!

Hey MrsB ? my memory is terrible but did I know before we had our friend Clexane in common? Nice to know of someone else at the same stage as me with the same issues. Hope the check up goes well. Hows your BP out of interest?

Hello Fruitful glad things are looking up, really hope you don?t have that placenta accrete, sounds nasty. Any ideas for our hospital bags now you are having a trial run? I?m with you on instincts. Happy surfing!!!

Hey Sideways ? I haven?t done sling research yet so cannot comment but will do once I have! Sounds like Fruitful might need her credit card brought to her is she?s going on to ebay!

Fluffymummy ? I get those cramps if I point my toes in bed or stray onto my back ? they hurt!! That info about the pillow?s great thanks.

Naetha ? so glad your results are fine too sorry to hear about the anaemia interesting about the zap, I have had that but never knew what it was about, thought it was to do with nerves.

Lulubump ? that?s interesting about the milk, I always have some horlicks before bed these days anyway! I hear you on the mother of the twins, I don?t think I could back down if I felt so strongly.

Susiemj ? I have been reading up because I thought the pain in my lower pelvis on the right which sometimes radiates down my leg was sciatica but apparently, it is more likely to be Pelvic Girdle Pain as sciatica doesn?t normally come on just through pregnancy. Have a look on the babycentre.co.uk website, it is quite interesting and it suggests exercises ? it includes pelvic floor exercises ? and SQUEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZEEE! Maybe the other ladies at your class aren?t as far on as you?

Hey Angechica poor you, sorry you are having a bad week, I hope you feel much better soon.

Where is Mixedmama?????!!! hope she?s ok. Hope the evil in laws don?t have her captive! (that was a joke hope noone?s offended)

Thanks Gingeme ? I do want one of those chairs now!

MrsMcJnr · 11/10/2007 16:33

Oh forgot - have to tell you something ? no laughing!!! DH and I were talking in the car on the way home from work the other night about the AN classes, Dads 2 be classes etc and wondering if we?d see the same people that we?ve seen at the other AN things so far ? then DH just blurts out that he?d slept with the girl who?d sat on my left in the Nappy Demo (who had also been in our Group for the Physio class!) not only that but he went out with her for a month or so about 8 years ago and said she was a psycho! it does make sense when I think about it as she was really frosty but won?t it be my luck that she will be in all my classes and probably ends up in the bed next to me? It's like the Janice/Chandler thing from Friends but not half as funny!! I guess if we lived in DH?s old stomping ground you could understand it but we live in a different county!!! ?.. no laughing I said!!!

fluffymummy · 11/10/2007 16:37

ROFL Mrs Mac ...sorry...but that is priceless...teehehee....

Angechica · 11/10/2007 16:37

LOL MrsMc:

Should that happen you can shout:

"OH .... MY .... GOD!"

I love that episode!

Except that even though Rachel's baby is breech she just seems to pop it out while still looking slightly glamorous!

madmouse · 11/10/2007 16:41

Beller I am so chuffed for you, you have had such a rotten time feeling ill and stuff so a bit of good news goes down well .

Hello all lawyer mums out there (and everyone else, I am not discriminating) I did not realise there were so many! I practice immigration/asylum/nationality. Biggest drawback of being a legal bird I find automatically reading everything on pregnancy you can get your hands on including the stuff that gives you sleepless nights (mc rates etc )

madmouse · 11/10/2007 16:43

Mrsmc

Not laughing
honest
just an odd sound I make occassionally...

If it was me I would try to swap classes!

susiemj · 11/10/2007 16:47

Thanks for the webpage MrsMcJnr. I'll have a look. V.funny story too.

Oh! I wish the other women at the antenatal class weren't as far on as me. Unfortunately the only one who was roughly the same size as me was due a month before me! The ones who were due at the same time were, well, wee, with petite little bumps and no maternity clothes! (That might be an exageration). They looked like me at about 16 weeks.

MrsMcJnr · 11/10/2007 16:47

hell no, I actually think it is very funny!! Typical of my dirty dog husband - now reformed since he met me of course!

Madmouse - yes I am every MW's nightmare, mine hates me and instructed DH not to let me read anything that she hadn't given me - yeah right - let's see what awkward questions I can come up with for next week! my consultants on the other hand refer to my appointments as "quizz time" I just like to know my stuff....

MrsMcJnr · 11/10/2007 16:49

Susiemj - I am sure you are perfect for dates

Isn't it time we all did the toilet tissue test and checked how many pieces it takes to go round our bumps?! I'll do it at home rather than here if that's ok and I'll report back - no cheating ladies - widest part on the bump now and no stretchy bog rolls!!!!

susiemj · 11/10/2007 17:01

I'll do it but I'm not going first! (hangs head and blushes..)

madmouse · 11/10/2007 17:11

Susiemj. Type 'pregnant bellies' in Google and find one of those sites that have galleries of pregnant bellie pictures by week of gestation. Great fun and you will not believe how different the bumps are. I thought I was big (which I why I looked) as two of my mates are due in mid-Feb and barely look pregnant (interestingly they worry about that, incessantly)but after looking at a few galleries I now know I look very average! I am sure you will be the same.

Amani · 11/10/2007 17:15

Hello!
Just poping into see how everyone is doing - back from an 'interesting' conference on statistical modelling and qualitative analysis!

Just skimmed read - nice to have you back Mrs McJnr. Amani means 'optimist' and been wanting a name change for a while and someone on the Dec thread inspired me!

Awen - congrats on the test results.

Got my interview tomorrow - wish me luck!

OP posts:
fruitful · 11/10/2007 17:44

Lulu - the problem I have with my ring-sling is that the rings are too tight - its is secure alright and it stays put but it is hard to get adjusted right.

I think Mothercare do that premaxx sling so you could try it out - might need to borrow a doll tho...

Ooh Clexane. They're making me have injections in here. They made a big fuss about 2 steroid jabs and how much they would hurt - well the Clexane sting a lot more!

Hospital bags - you need hand cream and lip salve! It is boiling in here, and they make you wash your hands in anti-bac gel every time you turn around.

Sideways - thanks for your offer; at the mo I am getting lots of visitors and have to make sure I am available whenever anyone can bring dd&ds in to see me. I will shout if the visitor stream dries up!

Susiemj, we've been comparing bumps in here adn there is a huge variation in sizes for the same number of weeks. Perhaps you have lots of nice cushioning fluid in there?

Heehee I'm going to win on the toilet tissue test because the pieces of tissue here are twice as long as domestic ones!

FrankAwenstein · 11/10/2007 21:51

Toilet roll test... 8 and a half puppies on a roll (andrex) C'mon ladies you have to now. No fair fruitful with the hospital bog roll.

Amani - good luck with your interview tomorrow honey xx

Beller - wow & congrats on the work maternity pay!

DP came home tonight as his work have confirmed he will get 2 weeks paternity on full pay, he is also owed toil and annual leave so plans to be off for at least 4 weeks! He then said tentaitvely mentioned work asked how soon after birth he can travel abroad! bless, i said he should say to work he wants to make sure baby is all ok before making any decisions.. (his work mates said he will prob want to go abroad asap just ot get some sleep, cheeky gits )

MrsMcSpooky (you should sooo change your name for a bit) pmsl at the ex incident. sorry . We had a cross dressing husband at parenting class with ds1.. didnt help that my then partner mentioned that he had seen the name gaylord in the baby name books.. Soooooo embarrasing.

Angechic & lulubump - I have been in tears with dp last 3 nights (having night off tonight!) really sensitive, emotional, he cant do right, etc etc. Def hormonal. Tongiht i have been the naughtiest mischievist person tho, ds find it hilarious when i am naughty tho

Ds first day back was lovely for him, school trip. It is wear it pink day tomorrow and he is horrified at the idea of wearing pink so said he should wear red as a very very dark pink

Pudding has shuffled more tonight think he was kicking towards spine and bladder before. xx
