fluffymummy · 11/10/2007 10:16

Fruitful - so pleased that everything sounds a bit more under control...still a bit scary though...glad baby is growing well! Big hugs...and enjoy ebay!!

beller · 11/10/2007 10:20

Fruitful - Good to hear from you..and Yay for the laptop! Im feeling way better today , just tired...hope you get out of there soon, but in the meantime glad they are looking out for you xx

Mrsbiscuit - hope all goes well for the midwife appt xxx

beller · 11/10/2007 10:21

MrsMcJnr · 11/10/2007 10:33

Testing, testing - please tell me that they haven't stopped me from posting from work!

beller · 11/10/2007 10:38

fluffymummy - i woke up in the night a few nigths ago with bad legs cramps..think that i had woken up on my back though? Only happened once...So you used your chair alot? Im trying to think of whetjer to get one or not? I have the room..just thoguht if i was breast feeding, would more than likely do it downstairs during the day,and in bed at night...and thought i wouldnt get much use out of it?

Naetha · 11/10/2007 10:41

Morning all

I like the 2 sling idea - I love the look of the tricotti slen, but might get a baby bjorn for DH to use (I can't see him faffing around with acres of cloth).

Sorry you're feeling so awful Beller - you should really take it easy though - don't feel guilty about it at all! I've taken 2 days off work on the recommendation of the midwife because I was feeling run down and tired. Really glad I did.

Got my GTT results back and they're fine, but they did wider blood tests and there's a problem with my vitamin B12 levels which indicates I may have "pernicious anaemia" which ties in with the headaches, tiredness and sore tongue. I have to go for more blood tests, but hopefully this isn't a problem. Anyone else had this before?

beller · 11/10/2007 10:42

Hi Mrsmcjnr!! hearing you loud and clear xx

beller · 11/10/2007 10:47

Naetha - I have that!! Was diagnosed about 3 years ago now....Has changed my life dramatically! I have to have b12 injections every 8 weeks now...started off at every 12 weeks, but wasnt enough. I used to fall asleep all over the place...get really bad mouth ulcers..and simply feel drained. Still get the ulcers when im due my jab..but only for a day or so...Antyhign else you need to know give me a shout xxx

Lulubump · 11/10/2007 11:00

Awaen and Naetha - great news on the GTT! Naetha, sorry to hear about the 'pernicious anaemia', don't know much about it but I'm sure someone on here can give you more info. At least they now have an explanation for how you've been feeling.

Fruitful - wonderful to hear you're doing better, and enjoy your e-Baying! You mentioned that you had a ring sling, how secure are these when you fasten them up? Do they loosen over time and you have to keep yanking at them to keep them tight?

Sidways - that sling looks fab. Do you think you can bend down, or lean over in it though?

Fluffymummy - I've had the leg cramping too, and its agonising! Seems to be triggered if I point my toes, so have stopped doing that. And it always happens in bed at night. A friend of mine suggested some milk before bedtime (apparently the calcium prevents your muscles cramping up) and it seems to have stopped for the moment.

Beller - glad you're feeling better today. Not surprised you were exhausted last night, after no breaks at work! Hope you manage to squeeze in a decent lunch hour today, and your colleagues don't wander off and leave you on your own.

My two cents worth on BuB - feel particularly aggravated by the mother of the twins. She seems to get so upset by CV, why does dhe not stand up for herself if she doesn't want to go along with her?? TV show or not, if someone had upset me to that extent in my own home, I hope that either I would kick them out or DH would!!

Excuse all the typos, couldn't get out of bed this morning and am desperate for a coffee - trying to hold out though!

Naetha · 11/10/2007 11:04

Any idea what causes it Beller? My diet is good - and with the preg supplements I take I actually get about 300% of my RDA of b12 for breakfast and tablets alone, not to mention the plenty of fish, meat and dairy I eat, so I guess it's a problem with absorption?

Naetha · 11/10/2007 11:08

Ooh, bananas are good for leg cramps as well

FrankAwenstein · 11/10/2007 11:26

Fruitful - Great to hear from yuo and glad you got the wireless access sorted. Things are sounding more positive especially as the bleeding subsided. Re baby quitening down my pudding also has quietened but i listened in with the summer monitor and can hear him kicking and heartbeat so reckon he has turned around.

MrsMcJnr - Hearing you loud and clear, how annoying for you with missed post though. So frustrating when you have typed it all up.

Naetha - Fab about GTT but not so good about the pernicous anemia (sp). I have heard bananas are good for leg cramps too - something to do with potassium levels perhaps.

Lulubump - agree with yout comment about BuB twins mum. How come you arent able to get out of bed, is it SPD? Sending a virtual cup of coffee

Beller - Am really for you about you not being able to get to the loo for so long. I think that is really out of order especially as babies are pushing down there more.

Sideways - I have seen that sling as well. I am planning on road testing sling with the baby when he arrives to see how it fits.

Fluffymummy - POor you with the leg cramps, had them with ds1 and only a little bit with this one. Rubbing it firmly and pulling toes up help me.

MrsBiscuit - How exciting getting the cot Let us know how you get on at the midwifes appointment.

Ladylush - thank you. Re the BB sling is it a more solid sling? HOw are things going? You still on Picu?

Lulubump · 11/10/2007 11:29

Awen, thankfully its not SPD! I just couldn't get out of bed this morning because I was sooo tired, and it was all warm and snuggly, and the last thing I felt like doing was getting up and coming to work. Pure laziness in other words

FrankAwenstein · 11/10/2007 11:32

but also had the school run for first time in weeks today. Am def feeling more tired now in 3rd trimester.

fluffymummy · 11/10/2007 11:42

beller - i was so convinced that i didn't need a special feeding chair, until i used my friends when ds was about 9 weeks old! placed the order the same afternoon...

At the beginning I did do a lot of feeding around the rest of the house but especially once I got the chair morning, evening and night feeds were always in the nursery and generally it became the place I would choose to do the other ones as well - I got a cheapie stereo for the nursery too, so would sit in there listening to radio 4...very relaxing for me and ds The 11am feed was fab for womens hour

As ds got older the chair has also been where I've rocked him/dozed with him when he's been ill (the footstools are fab for this!), read him his book every night and had cuddles every morning and evening, and sometimes just collapsed and watched him play

So yup, we've had our moneys worth out it it

Thanks everyone for the cramp feedback - its driving me mad!!! Unfortunately, I hate bananas....!!

Naetha · 11/10/2007 11:45

I've been doing what's probably a silly thing, and looking this B12 deficiency up on t'internet.

One thing that came up was something called L'Hermitte's sign, which is when you get a very brief electric shock sensation in your neck that radiates downwards. This is something I've had infrequently for the last couple of years - happens probably about once a month or so. I always thought this was fairly normal and that everyone gets it, but according to the internet (so it must be right) its quite rare, and an indication of advanced B12 deficiency, amongst other things.

Has anyone else had this? Please tell me its a perfectly normal thing to have It literally feels like someone has zapped you with a tazer on the back or side of your neck for a second, then its fine.

susiemj · 11/10/2007 12:08

Naetha - Sorry about the pernicious anaemia. Know nothing about it but sending you some virtual Bara Brith .

Glad about GTT tests for others. Is this a test everyone has? Agree too about cramps. I also think I'm getting what my mum calls Sciatica - a shooting pain down the left leg. Anyone else? Any tips?

Thanks for advice about the sling Fruitful and Ladylush. I do wonder how safe those cloth slings are. Any more opinions? Gingeme a Baby Bjorn kind of looks like the Wilkinet but more - um sort of - conventional in appearance if that makes sense. O sod it. Here it is

Sideways - been meaning to ask. How's the hyperemesis? I've seen you on other threads. Mine is still hanging around though I'm still hoping for at least a couple of normal weeks so I can go shopping. Chances?

Have a good day to all.

susiemj · 11/10/2007 12:09

O - I hope DS has a good first day back, Awen. How is your DS Gingeme?

Lulubump · 11/10/2007 12:12

Naetha, Can't say I've had that electric shock sensation that I can recall. Sounded quite worrying, so I also did some research (yay for the internet!).

You said in your first post about your B12 levels that it may be pernicious anaemia. Then again it may not - B12 absorption can also be affected by something quite simple like intestinal bacteria. Seethis link from BUPA

Just to make it clear to everyone, I am not still lounging around in bed! I did get up and come to work (admittedly arrived at about 10am - thank goodness for flexitime, as I'm fully intending to go back home at 3:30!!)

Angechica · 11/10/2007 12:13

Looking things up on internet? I've scared myself silly by reading about GD and ante natal depression on the internet this week and it's probably not a good thing to do.

Doc signed me off for a week. UTI, depressed, think I have GD (also seen midwife again and need a GTT), "issues" with DH ... you name it.

Still not allowed to eat sugary foods until I have my test. I also have to wee a lot, v thirsty and feel tired and low which are the other symptomes of GD so i reckon I've got it!

I've never had this neck thing but my grandma had pernicious anaemia all her life -lived to 92 and had 4 kids!

Lulubump · 11/10/2007 12:13

Anyone heard from mixedmama by the way?

MrsMcJnr · 11/10/2007 12:23

It must just be me going nuts ? oh dear!

Thanks for the welcome back Naetha little bit of beer won?t do Beanie any harm! Hope you?ve been taking it easy.

Cazzy ? glad you are enjoying the temping ? have you ordered a bugaboo yet? Zara had some lovely mat clothes in Spain and the babies clothes were to die for

Amani ? talk me through the name change?! glad all went well at the MW. Post on the Pregnancy thread about the liver cholestasis ? I know Fettle and Mumpbump who have just had their babies had that and could tell you all about it. I was told at my consultant?s appointment that they would only test for Strep B if the risk factors arose i.e. waters broken prior to 37 weeks etc. Still undecided about getting my own test.

Awen ? thanks hon my tummy?s not moving really! Spain was lovely thanks, lots of R&R. Your DP sounds sweet reading up ? mine is currently concerned about methods of pain relief! Don?t ait too long to order your bugaboo ? there are warehouse issues and delays of up to 8 weeks. Are you feeling any better hon? LOL, like your Halloween name! Shall I be MrsMcSpooky? Glad your DS is doing well

Hey Nicky6 ? how did it go at the osteopath?

Toomanyshoes ? sorry to hear you were feeling rubbish, hope you feel better. The Spa and Dublin must have been lovely ahh how cute the nursery will be my sis warned me off the Pilko, hers broke after 8 months. That baby cinema sounds like so much fun!

Hey BWMum ? what colour Buzz did you go for? We saw lots of fabby colours in Spain. LOl at the cat on the rocking chair. How was you?re AN appointment?

Sabinar ? sorry to hear about your fall and your jeans I got some comfy over the bump ones from Littlewoods online. That class sounded really interesting. What is pro attachment parenting? I?m still wearing DH?s coats any sling advice would be good too! Coat looks like it?ll keep you warm and dry

Gingeme ? did you find the glider chair useful? Is it worth investing in one? So glad DS is doing well.

Fluffymummy ? thanks for all that interesting info, fab! I know what you mean about coats, nothing much keeps out a Scottish winter! My Pregnancy magazine did a review of coats but they were mostly waist length. Where do you get those BF pillows from? Sound good. Must read that Baby Whisperer, sounds good.

Madmouse ? thanks. Another lawyer! I don?t think I knew that. I?m a banking and finance lawyer, Nicky and Barristermum are? barristers and PBirdy (where oh where is she?/!!) is an employment lawyer. How about you? I?m going to do a trial of reusables after the baby is a couple weeks old and see what style I like best and take it from there but I want to research makes before then as know I?ll have no time to do that when the baby is here.

Hello Bettymamma ? hope your cold is getting better. Thanks for thinking of me on what should have been my due date. It was a reflective day and I am glad it has passed. I spent some time and lit some candles in the church we married in in Spain and it did help. X Re nesting, I;ve even tidied my desk today! That?s great about the baby carrier! Well done! Re BUB LOL it wasn?t as if that couple even looked comfy chilling on the couch! LOL at your hopes for the sling and DH!

Susiemj ? congratulations on the house hon! I like the 2 sling plan, makes great sense. I have to say one of the things I like about the Continuam method in BUB is that they have their hands free to do stuff at home!

Hello Lulubump ? thanks for the slings site

Hello Lilyloo ? you sound very busy!!

Beller ? poor you I hope you are feeling much better. Sorry to hear about your Gran hon the nursery sounds so fab! Your colleagues sound so insensitive

How are you Fruitful?

Hey Barristermum I think the whole point of BUB is to make you outraged at CV when actually, the best method is probably a combo of the 3 really. I do like her ideas about no visitors ? do you think I could enforce that with PIL? I do get her ideas on being out in the fresh air but surely its better for Mum to get out there too and get some exercise?

Ahhhh out of time?more later from me!

Naetha · 11/10/2007 12:34

You rock MrsMac - your updates are awesome!!

LilyLoo · 11/10/2007 12:38

MRS MC good to see they not banned you at work i needed one of your posts to catch up

susiemj · 11/10/2007 13:26

Bit of an awkward question but...

Is anyone WAY bigger in terms of bump than others in their antenatal classes. I went to my first one a couple of days ago and I looked huge in comparison to others. Even DH had to admit it. Bit embarrassing. Not really concerned but what I'm wondering is if it will even out over the third trimester ie. I'll slow down and other will grow more rapidly? I'm 27 weeks tomorrow.

I've just bought a maternity coat (finally!) and there's only a few more inches of room in it already. Wondering whether to send it back?

Next midwife appt is in two-ish weeks so I don't know about fundal doo-dah measurement.

Any advice ladies?
