FrankAwenstein · 09/10/2007 16:31

Yes she is betty - hse is just trying ot confuse our poor preg brains!

LilyLoo · 09/10/2007 16:34

Hello all hope you all ok am doing rubbish keeping up with you all.
Think i am doing some serious nesting, have got rid off all bedroom furniture so have cleaned and gutted ours and dc's bedrooms before fitter comes tommorow.
Have just got rid of all our bathroom flooring and put new down.
Then have a decorater coming in at weekend.
Makes me laugh i remeber doing this with other two dc's.
Even made dp wash and clean the cars at the weekend.
So doing lot's of practical stuff just no time to mumsnet. Will try and catch up tom as i stuck in all day with fitter.
Just off to ds parents evening in a bit , byeeee x

Bettymamma · 09/10/2007 16:37

I think the nesting thing is making us all so busy. I bet this thread goes dead at the weekend whilst we are manically washing, ironing, painting and shopping!

susiemj · 09/10/2007 17:00

Naetha LOL rain! It does. I really need to get on the case of this maternity coat business!

susiemj · 09/10/2007 17:01

Bettymama - thanks for squawk! Am now flapping because I forgot home insurance! Oh dear, preg head!

Amani · 09/10/2007 18:30

Congrats on the house susie! Bet you are pleased!

Yes am MotherofZ in disguise!

madmouse · 10/10/2007 09:27

Nesting instinct - what's that?
I think it is a little early for me (24 weeks) as I get like that when having monthly thingies (well, cleaning rather than decorating , but since becoming pregnant standards have dropped and house is a tip with no energy to clean. I guess being out of the house for work from 7 to 7 does not help...

Bettymamma · 10/10/2007 09:29

Can i do a little squawk of my own now? - I've just won on ebay a baby bjorn carrier for £16. Its only 8 months old, hardly used, with its instructions and in a box (normally retails for £50)

I shall just do a chicken dance around the room.

Gingeme - you are right this is addictive. I shall be VERY careful.

I'm hoping the postal system might get it to me before the baby is born????

beller · 10/10/2007 09:50

Hope mixedmamma is ok?

Amani · 10/10/2007 09:51

Morning all,

Hope you all are well this lovely grey morning!

Just feeling a little worn out this morning - DD was a unsettled last night and kept waking up and asking for milk.

Anyone watch Bringing up Baby last night? Was [shocked] at the 1950's lady who said tire the twin babies out and keep them hungry so they can sleep better at night.

Amani · 10/10/2007 09:54

Nice to see you back Beller, but to hear you have been unwell. Are you sure you are up to work? Just take things easy and make sure you drink loads of fluids and eat light stuff to keep it in.

OP posts:
Bettymamma · 10/10/2007 10:16

Oh Beller, sorry to hear that - go home I think if you can. You need to put yourself first on this one. Hope you're ok.

Amani - Bringing up baby - even my dh said she was a witch. It was horrible to watch, the babies were starving! I thought one of the dad's was a bit rude and unsupportive too - the wedding photographer one. 'No hug me rather than see to our baby' - hello??

Lulubump · 10/10/2007 10:16

Nice to see you back beller, and hope you feel better soon. Sounds like you might not be up to being back at work. If you're not feeling right, just pack it in and go home - its not worth struggling through!! Big sympathy hugs.

Along with everyone else who's been hunting for a winter coat, I am FREEZING! I asked the assistant in H&M why they had no warm maternity coats, and she said most pregnant women get too hot, and just a long cardi does the job! And apparently, she's had pg women pass out in the store because they've worn too many layers [hmmm]

The Zara store here is so disorganised. Apprently, they can't order a winter coat in for me because their stores can't, can't tell me what's coming in the next delivery, and generally don't seem to be able to find their bum with both hands. Ooops, can you tell I've been trying to sort this out with them for the last two weeks?!

Any news from mixedmama?

Fruitful, hope you're not too bored in hospital, and they let you go home soon.

LilyLoo · 10/10/2007 10:24

morning all.
That woman makes me so mad every time i watch that programme. She was efeectivel;y starving them and making them so exhausted and tbh i was with the mum when she said it feels selfish to do this to them so we can have some time on our own Would you let her continue to tell you what to do then ?
Beller poor you can't you say you feel ill and go home ?

madmouse · 10/10/2007 10:28

Beller, sounds like you have too much sense of duty. Think you should be in your bed for at least another day!

Bettymama, nothing beats a good eBay bargain does it , squawk all you like.

I am more squeaking than squawking. Nappies have arrived (quick!) and it is suddenly very real. Aaaargh. I like the design (flat nappies, fold twice, put on baby and finish with a preshaped liner that looks like the outside of a disposable (including velcro). Flat nappies=quick drying. Will have to wait a few months to see how it works in practice

Amani · 10/10/2007 10:46

One of the ladies on the 'Due in Dec 06' thread has CAT mixedmama to see if she is ok.

Bettymama - Can't stand that CV and to top it off she doesn't have any children. Not wonder she can't relate to any of the maternal instincts the women have.

OP posts:
susiemj · 10/10/2007 10:49

Morning all -

Bettymama - squawk!
Beller - sorry you've been ill. take it easy.
Lulubump - A cardigan's not much good in the rain, is it? I think they only don't make them because there would only be a few people buying them. Anyway, I usually want to faint in the shops during the winter - it's the contrast in temperatures that's ridiculous.

I am really pleased about the house but now need to do loads. Thankfully the hyperemesis has eased off enough to let me make phonecalls etc so I think I'll take care of that side of things!

Have a good, if grey, day. x

FrankAwenstein · 10/10/2007 10:50

Beller ((hugs)) poor you I agree with everyone else in that you should go home. If you do too much you might end up needing longer off and you might give it to others, Go home, rest for the rest of week and go in fresh on Monday. xxxxxx

Also watched some of BuB last night and at the whole concept of newborns being experimented on with the different methods. Definately like the continium method more than the others. Think CV is a witch (so does dp) and that the other one (dr spock) was shocking in her attitude to breastfeeding.

Sqwaking for all your new purchases

Ds last day off school. Actually re looked at cinema and surfs up is on so might go see that.

Hope mixedmamma ok.

Love to you Fruitful and your fruitful family if you get to log on and read this. xxx

Had freaky dreams last night. And quite sexual too. Really horrid actually as wasnt consensual iykwim.

Pudding has been a bit quiet and listened in with monitor last night, could hear his HB and him kicking. Think he might be kicking inwards. Headache and earache gone from last night

beller · 10/10/2007 10:55

thanks for the best wishes...much appreciated..think im going to stay for the rest of the week. I have friday afternoon off as im going to see my nan for the w/e..think she is on her way out , also its bonus time..so want to be around when they are decided!! Dont trust this lot as far as i can throw them....still no-one has asked how i am apart from the trainee!

I got a coat from Zara...well more of a jacket really, not from the maternity section, but warm and really nice.

My bil's came over at the w/e, and apart from giving me the bug, they have also put the nursery furniture toegther, so all set!! Well apart from accesories, which i will buy when i know the flavour! Sooooo exciting! xx

FrankAwenstein · 10/10/2007 11:01

Just take it easy, and breath over any one of the nasty gits in your office . Hope you get the bonus. Sorry about your nan

Exciting having furniture up. Ours all built except for cotbed. Bit nervous about it going up.

I better get off here as ds desperate for me to play junior cluedo.

fluffymummy · 10/10/2007 11:26

Morning all

Beller, go home now!! Bad girl, going into work when you're clearly still not well...

Lulubump - I ordered my coat from the website Sabinar listed (company called Bumps) last night...then they rang this morning to say that they were out of stock Apparently they've got one being returned so will be sending it down to me...but why, oh why, is it so hard to find something waterproof for winter?

Gingme & Bettymama - I've developed a massive ebay habit, but almost entirely based on maternity clothes. It's great...!!!

Amani · 10/10/2007 11:30

Been checking out slings on Ebay - but soooooooooo many to chose from.

OP posts:
Lulubump · 10/10/2007 11:39

Amani, I found a really great sling website called 'Big Mama Slings'(interesting name ), and that has some good links to where to buy slings, and how to make your own. I think there's usually a photo of a woman with a baby in a sling on the right of this page, in a wrap style, and apparently to make one of those, all you need is a length of jersey wrap or fleece that is 5 yards long and 20 inches wide. Instructions on how to wrap or fold are on the website that I mentioned.

Amani · 10/10/2007 11:56

Thanks lulu- will check it out, although I'm so paranoid about the baby falling out of a sling.
