@Bubble29 congratulations!

@ShiningStarz
@liquoricecravings how prepared are you?! I’m still trying to pack hosp bag I can’t think Blush

liquoricecravings · 03/08/2020 18:36

@MrsA2015 I've bought pretty much everything for the hospital for me now and the baby's bits have been ready for a while. I need to wash everything and actually pack it all into the bags this week though as it's scattered between the bedrooms. I'm also packing a small food bag for my husband to keep him going so that needs to be sorted too (he's made a joke that he'll pop over the road from the hospital to get a pizza!). I'll make sure I've got a good selection of food in there for me too. I can't wait to have some of the banned pregnancy food when I get home Smile

LatteLover12 · 03/08/2020 18:39

I've added it to my Tesco shop @liquoricecravings 🙈

Has anyone started shopping for nursing friendly clothes? I've managed to pick up a couple of dresses in the JoJo sale and I've bought two t-shirts from milky tees; they've got zips down each side. I think I've ordered something from New Look too but I can't remember what it is! 😂

MooseWL · 03/08/2020 18:43

@Liquoricecravings what are you looking forwards to?
I'm so excited for some prosecco or a gin, plus some camenbert/brie 😂 that's the only thing I'm bothered about really!

Piper1879 · 03/08/2020 19:11

@ShiningStarz my boys are spoilt rotten they won't know what's hit them 🙈

@Emmy2020 mine are indoor cats too ! So I'm gonna feel like I've got triplets ! My cats are into everything !

@UrsulaSings, it's so heavy isn't it !! I feel weighed down

I had my consultant meeting today where I provisionally booked in my c section but the surgeon was very forth coming about the risks as I have a high bmi 44 , and now I'm feeling conflicted. Originally I wanted an ELCS as my pgp is awful , the baby is big , I'm big and I'm terrified of having a birth with forceps /ventouse. I've also been told if I have a vaginal birth I will be induced no matter what again because I'm high risk , can I have some more opinions on c sections vs natural ?

liquoricecravings · 03/08/2020 19:12

@MooseWL a good cheese board selection too - I've been craving brie for a while now. I'm also really looking forward to a glass of wine - I've been drinking appletiser and flavoured soda water from a wine glass but it's just not the same!

@LatteLover12 I'm pleased it's back in the supermarket now. I've bought a couple of nursing tops from Seraphine. It's expensive though so I'll look at the JoJo sale.

Piper1879 · 03/08/2020 19:12

@Bubble29 congratulations my lovely !! Definitely keep us posted !!

Lilice · 03/08/2020 19:14

I cant wait for a blue steak, red wine, champagne, stinky cheese and parma ham, and also sushis. Last time my husband brought me cheese and parma ham at the hospital 🤣 i couldn't even wait to be home
@LatteLover12 i got three tops from verbaudet which are maternity/breastfeeding tops. I got breastfeeding bras from amazon. Will look for dresses which i could wear now and also breastfeed in

ChipsAreLife · 03/08/2020 19:23

Oh wow! @Bubble29 huge congrats to you and your lovely little family! Sounds like they're doing so well. Hope you're feeling well?

I'm looking forward to a nice cold crisp glass of pale rose. (That description is very detailed lol!!!)

@OrDis I had a few checks in labour I really can't remember them at all! I really wanted to have them done so I knew where I was and I don't remember them being painful or really bad. I think you go into this zone when pregnant and not much phases you!!!

@LatteLover12 I've never bought nursing clothes! I find them very expensive and a lot of the designs aren't my normal style. I just buy a load of vests and wear under tops I then pull the vest down under my boob and lift the top up. I'll also get some button down dresses but with covid I'm not planning going many places lol!!!

@Piper1879 that's really tricky, I feel for you. I've not had a vaginal birth only sections. I was induced and it didn't work out for me. Does your hospital offer a birth choices clinic? Mine does and I think there they talk about all the pros and cons for your specific situation. May be worth looking into!

Lilice · 03/08/2020 19:25

@Piper1879 I've had vaginal with first, c section with second. For me the recovery was easier with the vaginal birth, but the birth itself was way more painful. I was told told i was too late for the epidural and ended up with a forceps delivery + episiotomy 🥴 The c section was peaceful and very straightforward in comparison. However im going to try for another vaginal birth this time, because i really struggled with the pain of the c section afterwards.
Did your surgeon say compare the risks and advise one or the other?

Piper1879 · 03/08/2020 19:28

@Lilice he basically kept banging on about how overweight I was , I mean I know I'm overweight but I wouldn't consider myself massive , only put on 2kgs the whole pregnancy. And he was basically like well if anything goes wrong you need to own it , it's not good blaming us. I am scared of forceps

@ChipsAreLife I'm not sure I'll have to have a look into it. I just feel frustrated because I was confident and happy with my decision now I'm confused. How was your recovery ?

Lazydaisydaydream · 03/08/2020 19:32

@Bubble29 amazing news! Congratulations! So glad the babies are doing well Flowers

@LatteLover12 I recommend joining the "can I breastfeed in it" facebook page - they post ideas for outfits that are feeding friendly but not specifically designed as nursing clothes. Helped me use a lot of what I already had and not have to spend a lot of money! Also meant I still felt like "me" if that makes sense. Plus once I'd gotten used to feeding I found I was very uninhibited and just got irritated by flaps and things and was happy enough just to pull my top to the side etc.

HugeAgeGap · 03/08/2020 19:44

@Piper1879 I've only ever had c section, elective for breech and having a planned section this time around so can only give u a section experience recovery.

I found recovery to be what I expected, few days in hosp feeling a bit rough, then home with just paracetamol and ibuprofen and within a few days after that didn't need any painkillers at all. Took it really easy, no lifting or pushing to hard around the house and all healed fine, didn't have any problems. Was able to walk a couple miles out for dinner within 2 weeks and within the 6weeks I was ready for pretty much everything and back to normal :-)

MooseWL · 03/08/2020 19:52

@lilice you're French right? I remembered you saying you had family in France! We were thinking of going to France this summer (before covid struck obvs) but then I was absolutely like I cannot go to France whilst pregnant because what would I even eat I'd be too jealous of my partner 😂

WillowT · 03/08/2020 20:26

@Bubble29 Congrats!! Lovely news and sounds like they are doing well!

On the food front, I cannot wait to have all the banned stuff! I've told my sister she's only allowed to visit if she brings a charcuterie board and red wine!! I thought I would miss alcohol more than the food but it's the banned food I really crave!

For the hospital bag, I'm just using my weekend bag then the changing bag for baby stuff.

Bought a few more bits and bobs today. Got the gro egg 2 and now obsessed with the temp haha!! Still need to some clothes but struggling for neutral still in newborn/one month. Have enough for a couple of days worth so might end up with quick washing and drying!

LatteLover12 · 03/08/2020 20:35

Thanks @Lazydaisydaydream I'll ask to join!

@ChipsAreLife I don't think I've ever bought them before either & defo went for the best top and over shirt combo but I quickly found I was wearing the same things relentlessly.

I clearly remember the joy of wearing clothes that did not require easy access to my boobs when I went back to work!

I am in need of an occasion dress for November when I'll be 7 weeks post partum. I can only find a hugely expensive full length thing on seraphine so definitely need to expand my shopping!

Chanel05 · 03/08/2020 20:43

Congratulations @Bubble29 ! Glad to hear the twins are doing well!

Lilice · 03/08/2020 20:43

Oh gosh @Piper1879 he doesn't sound very nice, and rather unhelpful if he didn't advise which option carried less risks.

Lilice · 03/08/2020 20:46

Yep im French and yes @MooseWL you're so right haha, it's torture being pregnant in France because you can't eat anything and the temptation is always there

ShiningStarz · 04/08/2020 00:09

Awww congrats @Bubble29 !! Double congrats. So glad to hear your little ones are doing so well. Hope you are too. Enjoy this special time. I'm all emotional !!! We are so close now to the rest of us having ours bubs.
My little one loves to party at night.
Im lying in bed wincing with every big string movement across my tummy and down below!! He/she is definitely a night owl !!!! The opposite to mummy 🙈

@MrsA2015 I packed my bag last weekend. I'v still feels bits to throw in. We are having work men in our house next week for 3 weeks so wanted it all packed before then!! Won't get to set up baby things until I'm 38/39 weeks so hoping little one stays snug.. I'm booked in for induction on 9th as I'v gestational diabetes. Have you discussed your birthing options yet?

ShiningStarz · 04/08/2020 00:11

I miss smoked salmon, blue cheese and red wine!!!! Because of the gestational diabetes I'm adding pizza, Thai, chocolate, crisps to that too!! I'm gunna have one hell of a food party when I get home from hospital 😋😋😋

MooseWL · 04/08/2020 02:15

@shiningstarz NHS website says smoked salmon is fine in pregnancy! I've definitely eaten it a few times!!

ShiningStarz · 04/08/2020 05:37

Oh wow @MooseWL I love lidl salmon with the orange sauce!!! Thanks!!!! I'm awake & hungry 🤣

ChipsAreLife · 04/08/2020 06:52

@ShiningStarz Yes you can have smoked salmon and also Stilton! Hard cheese is fine you just can't have soft cheese. NHS is really good on what you can and can't have. There isn't much you can't have it seems!

OP posts:
ShiningStarz · 04/08/2020 06:56

@ChipsAreLife this is going to make the next few weeks easier !! Haha!! I do eat dairylea on toast which is obviously a soft cheese but I'm guessing it's so processed and pasteurised that it would be perfectly safe? Xo
