@ShiningStarz That sounds good that it will last!
@Piper1879 Wow that’s lovely you were given those, when is your due date?

ShiningStarz · 02/08/2020 20:27

Wow @Piper1879 6lbs 6!! How many weeks are you?
Our little one was 4lbs 10oz at 34 weeks.
Xx

Piper1879 · 02/08/2020 20:38

@Emmy2020 yes they're going to come in handy although the cats have already claimed one ! My due date is my bday 2nd sept

@ShiningStarz I'm 35 and 4 so he's gonna be a whopper ! Been tested for GD three times now and still negative. But his stomach and legs are 97th percentile

ShiningStarz · 02/08/2020 20:40

Whoa @Piper1879 a big healthy happy baby 😊

ShiningStarz · 02/08/2020 20:41

I'v a cat! I'm not sure how she'll be with a baby!! I'v played baby crying YouTube videos and she doesn't seem pleased!! Haha her eyes go huge 🤣

Lazydaisydaydream · 02/08/2020 20:44

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee yep my little boy is 2 years 4 months and he wears me out! He could probably cope without a nap these days but I can't so I still make him have a two hour nap every lunchtime haha. I reckon it will make life easier when the baby comes if he's still napping as well!

I'm due one month today Shock

MooseWL · 02/08/2020 20:47

@shiningstarz I love that counting sheep rocker. I might go for that one! It's a bit cheaper on amazon too

ShiningStarz · 02/08/2020 21:19

My partner didn't like the sheep one because it's just a rocker and no swing :(
It's soo cute tho

Emmy2020 · 02/08/2020 21:27

@Piper1879 I’ve got two cats, worried they will get into everything 😂 they are indoor cats as well so anything new in the house they think is theirs!
@ShiningStarz Any idea if the sheep one bounces? I’ve had bouncers before and they were good. Never tried a swing though.

ShiningStarz · 02/08/2020 21:31

@Emmy2020

The Counting Sheep Bouncer from Silvercloud is suitable from birth to around 6 months, or once the child can sit unaided. In soft-touch fabrics with beautiful print and embroidery details, and featuring a head support cushion for newborns, it provides a cosy place for baby to relax. The toy bar has two sleepy sheep toys, and baby will enjoy the soothing vibration and music features.

It only has 1 tune but has vibrating functions and multi recline

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 02/08/2020 21:47

@Lazydaisydaydream I hear you - my little boy is still napping 2 hours a day as well - long may it last (he is 21 months). Also slightly terrified about the prospect of a newborn with a toddler !!

ShiningStarz · 02/08/2020 21:53

@Emmy2020 my partner did some searching and likes this fisher price one:

Emmy2020 · 02/08/2020 23:04

@ShiningStarz Thank you 🤗 Will take a look at those two. Hopefully I’ll make up my mind soon and decide on one 😂

Chanel05 · 03/08/2020 09:13

Can't remember who was asking about hiccups but baby has been having hiccups several times a day so I googled it and it concerned me! In my area, we can contact our midwives via a chat service so I sent them a message this morning and they've got back to me to say it's totally normal and not to google!

MooseWL · 03/08/2020 09:42

@chanel05 I was the same last night as he got them twice when I was in bed for ages! Googling brings up all sorts of scary stuff!
Glad that people's midwives have said it's totally normal.

UrsulaSings · 03/08/2020 11:07

@Chanel05 thank you that was me! Good to hear the midwives are saying it's ok!

@Piper1879 my baby was estimated to be 5 lb 15 at 34 weeks and 4 lb 13 at 32 weeks, so hes been putting on about half a pound a week and is also a big baby. I also have raised fluid which they've been monitoring. So I am huge! I am so done with carting about this massive belly!

@ShiningStarz those look lovely! I can see why you're having a hard time deciding! I dont think I'm going to bother getting waterproof sheets then. I thought we were meant to be 'nesting' now with a 'surge in energy', but that definitely is not the case atm! Grin

To add to the ever growing list of symptoms, my hands have started hurting as well. I woke up a few times last night with my fingers curled up and it hurt to stretch them out again.

Emmy2020 · 03/08/2020 11:41

@UrsulaSings No surge of energy here! 😂 All I did today was pop to town to post office and take daughter to an xray and I was totally exhausted! Was going to pack my hospital bag but currently lying on the sofa. Going away for the weekend to Cardiff with my best friend and worried about how tired I’m going to be!

LatteLover12 · 03/08/2020 11:47

Yes to the agony that is heaving myself out of bed every morning!

@ShiningStarz do you have a link to the grey storage boxes please??

Has anyone else started frantically cleaning? I've just spent two hours cleaning out the two cupboards under the sink 🙈 and yesterday I did all the windows and sorted the big pantry style cupboard in the kitchen. Then I wonder why I'm knackered by 2pm!

MooseWL · 03/08/2020 11:55

@lattelover12 yes! I cleaned the oven yesterday and the washing machine 😂 Then i cleaned the inside of my old car as I'm giving it away and after that I was exhausted! Feel like the house is a total mess and I want to sort everything!

OrDis · 03/08/2020 12:06

I look at a million things every day that I want to clean lol but I can’t muster up the energy to do it at the moment 🤣. I’m hoping the surge of energy will coincide with my maternity leave starting so i’ll actually have time to do it all haha!

LatteLover12 · 03/08/2020 12:12

OMG @MooseWL I cleaned my washing machine last week using two dishwasher tablets (a tip I'd seen online!) I was so happy with myself 😂

I cannot wait for the paint/skirting boards/carpets to be down so I can start putting baby's room together. All the things I've bought are in a million different places!

liquoricecravings · 03/08/2020 13:14

I've cleaned my washing machine too! There's a dettol washing machine cleaner I discovered when searching the internet. I'm working my way around the house but as we're decorating the hall and have carpet coming next week I don't feel like it's tidy anywhere. I'll be so pleased when we have the carpet fitted and the painting finished!

What type of bag are you all planning to use for your hospital bags? I've got a large soft weekend away style bag or I could use my small suitcase (I don't know if turning up with a suitcase will make me look like I'm expecting a more relaxing trip to the hospital!).

OrDis · 03/08/2020 13:43

@liquoricecravings i’ve packed a small suitcase for my bits and bobs and then i’m going to pack all baby’s bits and bobs in my changing rucksack. It’s massive so should be enough room!

OrDis · 03/08/2020 13:52

Guys this may seem an irrational fear in the context of impending childbirth, but just wondering if anyone who has children could shed some light on internal exams in labor?

I basically hate smear tests, find them quite painful. Are internals similar to a smear test? Do they use a speculum? Or literally just check with a hand? How long roughly do they take if they are checking for dilation etc? I had to have a transvaginal ultrasound in the early weeks of this pregnancy for bleeding and whilst uncomfortable and slightly painful, I managed ok. Is it likely to be worse than that?

I don’t know why the thought of it worries me so much, given that i’m going to be pushing a watermelon sized child out- but I think it’s just I don’t like being ‘tampered with’ if that makes sense. I know I can decline them, but i’m not sure I want too because I do think it may be useful to know dilation etc.
