Hi ladies, my cotbed has finally been delivered by John Lewis today but it's gone straight in the garage as my bedroom and then baby's room have just been plastered!

I cannot wait for it all to be sorted but we still need skirting boards/paint/carpets/blinds 😬

I'm so tired at the minute. 32 weeks now and definitely needing a nap most days (the 4am starts probably aren't helping!)

ShiningStarz · 28/07/2020 13:59

@LatteLover12 that's great!!!
We have works starting when I'm 35 weeks for prob 2 weeks!!! Thankfully I'll have no nursery furniture to build as I'm not buying any until new year!! Flip we are cutting things fine!!

Lilice · 28/07/2020 14:16

I'm glad I've already been refunded for the furniture that never came. I decided to buy just a dresser / changing unit for now, I'll use my son's cot bed and get him a new pirate bed.
@WillowT im the same, i signed up for antenatal classes and only attended the first one 😣 im so bad but struggling to find the motivation. I also bought a breastfeeding book which i still havent read

Lilice · 28/07/2020 14:18

@ShiningStarz glad you got the lampshade ! Im still hesitating, i might keep the lightning i already have in that room

MooseWL · 28/07/2020 16:17

@chipsarelife yeah defo not accurate as I was referred because of drop in growth but then from the scan he's measuring on the bigger end!
He was being difficult to measure (as usual!) so she was like yeah looks like he's growing well but come back in 4 weeks and we'll do another. So don't think there's anything to worry about!

ChipsAreLife · 29/07/2020 10:55

oh wow @MooseWL! I bet you weren't expecting that outcome. Well at least all is good, that's the main thing.

@Lilice ah pirate bed sounds lovely! Bet he will be so excited for that. DH is currently moving rooms around as bunk bed arrives today, I am trying to work and referee the girls at the same time. It's not fun!

@LatteLover12 i am the same, waking in the night for an hour or so, then dropping off and girls wake me up. They always come to me never DH so it's really irritating! He has said he's taking them away for a night to his mums when I finish work so I can get a decent rest. I can't wait!!!
Have you got long to wait for the carpet etc?

I am so ready to finish work, Ive not had a day off this year because Corona has meant ive had to work harder to keep my business going. I am now feeling really foggy brained and getting mouth ulcers etc. I have two weeks left tomorrow and am on the countdown!!!

Also found my trigger for heartburn, it's red meat! I don't really eat much meat as was a vegetarian for 8 years but started eating again when i went travelling to a place that didn't cater for it. But both times I have had in the last fortnight I have had horrific heartburn, so that's me off it!

How's everyone else feeling? x

Ah @ChipsAreLife glad you found the heartburn trigger!! I think mine is probably chocolate but I can’t stop eating it haha!

I’m feeling mostly ok. Got a midwife appt on Friday. I’m looking forward to her telling me what position bubs is in now. At 28 weeks she was breech. I’m not sure what she’s up to now, can feel a hard mass on the right side of my belly button most of the time which periodically pushes out and back in and up and down. No idea if thats her head moving or her back or her bum lol! I wish I had a x-ray so I could see what on earth she is doing. The kicks still seem to be all over the place. Yesterday I was rubbing the left side of my bump and either a little hand or a little foot kicked jabbed out of my belly so hard where my hand was that I actually screamed because it took me by surprise!!! Haha!!! That was proper alien-like!!

annie1994 · 29/07/2020 15:50

Hello everyone hope you’re all ok!

I’m 35+1 today and due my first baby 1st September Grin. This may sound a really stupid question... but what bedding do you put your newborn in? We have two 0-6 month sleeping bags (different togs) are they ok to use straight away as I read somewhere that you should wait till baby is big enough so their head doesn’t slip down. If that’s the case what do you use to begin with!?

ShiningStarz · 29/07/2020 15:57

Hi everyone, 34 weeks today eeeek!! Time is flying by now!! Baby weighs approx 4lb 10oz and is head down. Got my induction date (40 weeks) should I need it!! Really hope little one comes naturally before the date. I asked about a membrane sweep the week before Induction which I was told was allowed.

ShiningStarz · 29/07/2020 16:00

Hi @annie1994 someone who has done this before will be along soon!!
I bought a 2.5 tog in 0-6 months but won't be using it until little one is at least 2 months old. I also read Youv to ensure the head can't slip down the sleeping bag.
I'm just going with all in one sleepsuit with feet and vest under.

Laura1348 · 29/07/2020 16:04

@annie1994
I've got two gro swaddle bags that can be used from birth. I'm not due for a while so not used yet but may be worth looking into.

ShiningStarz · 29/07/2020 16:14

Think can use a cellular blanket as long as it's tucked in and not higher than their shoulders. The NCT website has a good section on sleeping safety with newborn

NeuroMama · 29/07/2020 16:45

@annie1994 ftm here so no real know how. But I've been lent a couple Swaddleme velcro pouches and a Love 2 Dream arms up swaddle, and also have some muslin swaddle blankets. So I plan to try these out for sleeping early on, as I've heard newborns sleep better if swaddled.

MooseWL · 29/07/2020 17:06

@annie1994 you should definitely wait until their heads bigger than the hole for the sleeping bags.
Until then a tucked in blanket going no higher than their shoulders 😊

ShiningStarz · 29/07/2020 18:33

Anyone had a membrane sweep before?

Lorna198 · 29/07/2020 18:58

sigh
Today’s scan showed raised pressure in the Doppler flow so my body is having to work harder to push blood across to the placenta and although the baby is getting it, it’s maybe not enough. Which means I will be rescanned on Friday if that one shows similar they will begin to consider delivery. Not ideal at 33 weeks so they have given me a steroid injection to start to strengthen the babies lungs in case they do need to deliver in the next few days and I will be given the 2nd one Friday. These injections cover you for 7 days so the baby will either be ok and it was a one off reading or I could be a mum this time next week. I feel fairly calm as they are doing everything they can so fingers crossed it was just a blip and I won’t be having a c section soon!

The first 30 weeks was a breeze, deffo making up for it now 😂😂

OrDis · 29/07/2020 19:39

Oh @Lorna198 sorry to hear this, must be very stressful for you. I hope that it was just a one off for you and that Fridays scan will all be fine. Fingers crossed bubs can stay cooking a little longer but i’m sure you’ll be in good hands if she does need to be delivered early

ChipsAreLife · 29/07/2020 20:13

@OrDis ah I hope baby has moved for you. I know I always say I wish I had a window. Although I do think now I can kind of tell what's what but that's taken three lol! I know what you mean, some moves are so bloody strong!

@Lorna198 bless you that sounds stressful. Hopefully things are better by Friday but 33 weeks is a good gestation and with the steroids etc it will help. Have you got a bag packed just in case? Sending you a hug

@ShiningStarz yes I have. With my first they tried to do one at 40 weeks but cervix was high and closed so they couldn't. At 41 they could. It wasn't painful but was uncomfortable. It gave me a slight show and contractions the next day (Christmas Eve!) but then they stopped and nothing happened lol. They may have done one when they put pessary on too for induction but I can't remember x

ChipsAreLife · 29/07/2020 20:13

Oh and re sleeping bags I think a lot have weight minimums. I have used them but when they were a bit bigger x

Lazydaisydaydream · 29/07/2020 20:49

@ShiningStarz I had one last time, it wasn't sore just felt a bit weird! My husband was with me and I think he was a bit freaked out as he said it looked like she was just fisting me Blush haha!!

For sleeping to start with you'll want to swaddle rather than using a sleeping bag. We used the love to dream swaddles last time, or just an extra large muslin.

ShiningStarz · 29/07/2020 21:39

@Lorna198 I hope you are ok. I'm sure it's a little stressful, the hospital seem to be taking good care of you. Hope your next appt brings good news. 🤞😊

Thanks @ChipsAreLife and @Lazydaisydaydream I asked the midwife today if they could consider a sweep at 39 in the hope it brings on labour before the induction date. I'v just started the positive birth company online pack and there's wasn't much positivity for inductions. I guess with my GD I will take the medical advice and it's not recommended for me to go much further over 40 weeks.

Lilice · 29/07/2020 21:54

@annie1994 ive got a couple of sleeping bags that i can use from birth but i had to buy them in France, and they have extra buttons under the arms to make sure the head doesn't slip down. But instead of using them straight away, i also swaddled like several people here, for the first few weeks.
@Lorna198 i hope things will be okay. They seem to know what they're doing and sounds like you're well looked after.
@OrDis i know what you mean by the alien-like feeling lol! I also get a hand or foot poking out on my right side haha.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 29/07/2020 22:26

I had a couple of sweeps At 38 weeks to try to avoid the induction with my gestational diabetes last time - it’s uncomfortable for a very short period. First one didn’t do anything. Second one kicked off labour within A couple days. Make sure you take a sanitary pad with you as can bleed a bit after. Also plan to go for a good walk after as they have best results when followed by a walk

ShiningStarz · 29/07/2020 22:41

Thank you @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee I will
Probably ask to have it at 39 weeks. With the GD I have to be induced by 40 weeks but I really hope for natural birth if little one isn't too comfy in there 🙈🤣

Lorna198 · 29/07/2020 22:55

Thanks @OrDis @ShiningStarz @Lilice

Bag will be getting final touches tomorrow @ChipsAreLife!
