@Lilice showed it to DP and he prefers the a egg is one so I just ordered it !!! Thanks so much xx

Lilice · 27/07/2020 20:48

Thanks @CNovittBolden you're right. I've been browsing so many websites today, ill be dreaming of cot beds and dressers tonight 🤣

Lilice · 27/07/2020 20:52

What baby gym did everyone get?

CNovittBolden · 27/07/2020 21:05

@Lilice I've gone for the baby Einstein www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/baby/playmats/playmats-and-gyms/baby-einstein-4-in-1-kickin-tunes-music-and-language-discovery-gym/p/182347?gclid=CjwKCAjw9vn4BRBaEiwAh0muDELi7o3Gh50UEFM4Jg-MotF7af66ILe-MB8GYy0iZ0pKWS0odlcYrhoCYUMQAvD_BwE but there were so many types it was so confusing! They all promise different things!

@ShiningStarz how are you doing?? How is all the monitoring going?

ShiningStarz · 27/07/2020 21:12

@CNovittBolden hey yep all is going ok thanks. Little one likes to have a party in my belly now most days! Magical watching the movement. They've started me on some insulin but I'm finding it all ok. Just really miss pigging out on pizza and eating chocolate!! It'll all be worth it though !!
How are you getting on?

@Lilice I got the bright started 5 in 1. It has a ball pit for later so lasts that bit longer. Was more expensive than others but looks like it will get lots of use

CNovittBolden · 27/07/2020 21:46

@ShiningStarz oh that's so good to hear! Have they booked you in for an induction? Also just think about all the reward chocolate you can have once baby comes! Only a few weeks to go!

I can't get over how insane it is that within the next few weeks all these babies are going to start making an appearance. It's terrifying but so so exciting!

I'm all good. Being monitored with scans every few weeks to check growth and so far my medication hasn't seem to had caused any issues so I'm very glad!

Seeing my belly just roll and shift is still so odd! Sometimes I love the feeling and other times it's so so weird!

ShiningStarz · 27/07/2020 21:51

Glad you are keeping well @CNovittBolden
It is really odd!! The pressure and rolls feels so strange like I might pee myself!!
We are getting some work done to our house when I'm 35-37ish weeks!! Crazy I just hope little one doesn't make an early appearance!! I'v an appt this wed so I will ask about using the birthing pool 🤞 I really don't want to be induced, it doesn't seem right to force the birth unnaturally. At the same time I want what is safest though

CNovittBolden · 27/07/2020 22:00

🤞🏻 that you'll be able to use the birthing pool! I don't know why but I have this feeling I won't go to 40 weeks.

rhia22 · 27/07/2020 22:37

Hiya everyone!

Just reading this thread, I'm doing hypnobirthing with the PBC course online too, it's helped quite a bit! 31 weeks currently and thought my waters had gone yday and had braxton hicks so ended up in hospital but it was just wee as baby had dropped and braxton hicks!! was stressful but did some breathing as a little practise for the real thing !!

I've started packing hospital bags but just a little bit concerned and taking 5 or 6 vests/sleep suits incase we have to stay in as I don't think my hospital is allowing visitors due to covid?? anyone doing the same?

liquoricecravings · 28/07/2020 01:14

@Lazydaisydaydream I've read the Positive Birth Book and have created my birth plan based on the information they've given. Like some of the others have said, I've added in about trying a water birth, delayed cord clamping, breastfeeding and skin to skin after the birth. It helped me to know that I can say no to some things too, such as regular cervix checks (I want to avoid lying down as much as possible). It might be different on the day but I feel more comfortable understanding my options and also feeling like I have some sort of image in my head of how my labour might look. My DH will also be able to support me better as we've talked through my preferences.

@ShiningStarz thanks for the hospital list. I'll compare it to mine and add the things I've forgotten as I'm also putting mine together and am waiting for my maternity pads and spritz for bitz to arrive (it's got really good reviews so I hope it helps!). I'll also make a food bag for my DH to have!

sianyflewog · 28/07/2020 05:23

Morning! 5am, wife awake 🙈 In terms of packing hospital bags, a top tip I found was to pack each little outfit (sleepsuit, vest, hat etc) in an individual sealed bag like a large sandwich bag or the bags you get in a clothes delivery. Then if you need to change baby, everything’s all together in one place, no rummaging needed. Mark the one you’re reserving for bringing baby home (we have an adorable outfit from JoJo, a girls version matching the one we bought H home in) so that if a nurse or your partner grabs a bag, it won’t be your special one. Keep the one you want as their first outfit on top of your bag, for easy access.

I don’t have a birth plan, and didn’t have one last time either. Both c sections, so a little different, but I just felt I couldn’t plan for something that I had no idea about. Elsewhere people have said their midwife went through it with them in their later appointments, but that certainly wasn’t my experience.

Sunsage · 28/07/2020 08:19

I have my big green folder of maternity notes that I bring to every appointment and there's a section in it that has space to right in the birth plan! I'm guessing mainland is different?

Positive birth book I found amazing even just reading that chapter about the birth plan and ultimately being able to say no to whatever we don't want (I know I'll be putting baby first regardless of how I feel) but Im quite shy and would easily get caught up in letting whatever happen, I do feel it gave me a bit of control in my mind! Even thought it probably won't in real life 😂

I split my sandwich bags up of vests in one size and sleepsuits in one size but it makes far far more sense to have the vest and sleepsuits together in one!! Duh never thought of that 😂

@sianyflewog hope you got back over to sleep!!

ShiningStarz · 28/07/2020 09:16

Great tip @sianyflewog thank you :)
Dp brought down the nappies from the attic last night! Just woke up to find my bedside table covered in nappies/breast pads/nipple cream!! Guess this is the way forward haha

ShiningStarz · 28/07/2020 09:28

Natural baby shower have 13% off their website today. I found them really good to deal with.

ShiningStarz · 28/07/2020 09:37

@Lilice I'm collecting the lampshade from Argos today yay 😊

sianyflewog · 28/07/2020 10:39

Oh yeah @ShiningStarz - I had a big Aden & Anais Disney blanket from Natural Baby Shower, and thought they were fab to buy from!

sianyflewog · 28/07/2020 10:43

In other news, completely unimpressed with Roseland Furniture at the moment. Spent a small fortune on furniture for H’s bedroom, then they told me that they were awaiting stock on one of the items (chest of drawers) but all items would be shipped as soon as it became available. Chest of drawers became available last week, then yesterday I had notification that the other 2 pieces had been dispatched but nothing about the drawers. Fine if it’s all coming in the next few days, but why have I waited 3 weeks if they’re only sending out the two pieces that were already available when I placed the order?! I need the furniture to move H rooms, to be able to decorate the little room ready for this baby - it’s stressing me out!
I just want everything ready now - I’m in real nesting mode, I’ve never spent so much time cleaning!

ShiningStarz · 28/07/2020 10:58

@sianyflewog that sounds so frustrating! Another joy of covid!!

I'v been reading positive birth stories this morning and so many were written by mothers who had to be dropped off by their partners at the front door of maternity units and then had to wait to be called in. I'm so glad that hopefully all of us won't have that. I can't imagine going in without my partner. He's already felt like he's missed out with not being at some appts and scans. Slowly getting through the PBC online course and breastfeeding book. 😊

MooseWL · 28/07/2020 11:14

@sunsage ooh mainland, where are you based? My notes book doesn't have anything for the birth plan really. I'm the same though without the PBC I'd have probably just gone along with anything but now I feel like I can make my own decisions.

I'm off for a growth scan this afternoon after my midwife appointment this morning, as the curve has dropped off slightly. It's still well within normal but she said because its crossed the middle centile line (so before I was slightly above and now it's slightly below) she had to refer me. Hopefully it's nothing to be concerned about everything else was fine, but looking forward to seeing the baby again!

Laura1348 · 28/07/2020 11:21

It's great to hear good things about the PBC. I'm giving it a go - using the book.
If you download the freya app (2.99) you also get some relaxing mp3s to listen to and the affirmations that are in the book.

ChipsAreLife · 28/07/2020 11:31

@MooseWL hope all goes ok. My friend had this last week as was measuring too big but scan showed she was bang on :). I think the tape measure is a hard way to do it lol!

I think it's great to have a birth plan but my advice is just not to get too invested. DSIS was very set on a natural birth and breastfeeding etc, neither happened and it led to her feeling very low for years about it. Births all vary and even though you hear horror stories the midwives in general are brilliant and there to support you. For me I did feel out of control in labour but I didn't really care, I was just in the zone. I am not trying to be negative in anyway but I just worry about the pressure we put on ourselves to have things go a certain way and then when they don't it can be really hard mentally.

@Lilice nooo! That's so annoying. Hope you can get sorted.

@sianyflewog weve had the same, had to cancel another bunkbed order for the girls yesterday, got one coming this week though so can get them set up next weekend and start getting nursery ready week after. We could have the girls stay in seperate rooms but we want to keep the spare room for us to sleep in if baby has all night raves lol!

Im 34 weeks today! Time is flying!!!!! x

WillowT · 28/07/2020 12:45

So much to catch up on!

Had my 32 wk app today, all good except baby is lying traverse. Not an issue as long as s/he moves by 36 weeks. They mentioned birth plan and said better way to describe it was birth preferences so it doesn't matter if things have to change. Slight change in terminology but psychologically makes a difference.

Annoying about all the undelivered furniture. We picked up the last of our stuff from family this weekend so think we have the main stuff. Bought a changing table/drawers from ikea which can be turned into a desk

I keep meaning to look at PBC but still haven't round to it...after a full day of work I'm too exhausted to think about anything in the eve/weekend. I have some life admin that I really need to sort before the baby arrives but haven't the energy for that either!

Hope the growth plan goes okay @MooseWL

sianyflewog · 28/07/2020 12:50

Well my scan on Sunday, they took measurements of baby and said she was on 45th centile, was no longer breech etc. Then I had my 32 week appointment yesterday and I was told baby is up on the 75th, and is breech. 😂 As long as she’s healthy I don’t care, but it goes to show how different it can be!

ChipsAreLife · 28/07/2020 13:17

@sianyflewog ha! So who knows lol? Are you having a section anyway?

@WillowT yes preferences is much better!! Makes it more flexible and less a case of 'this will be how it goes'. Ah these babies are naughty sometimes, hopefully you can get it turn. There is a wesbite called spinning babies that has ways to help babies turn, may be worth a look x
