Thanks @Lazydaisydaydream I'll look up
Mini fan too!!

I was asked at my last appt about birth plan. To be honest since my GD diagnosis and now on insulin I just said whatever is safest!
I started the hypnobirthing positive birth company e video plan last night and it's great so far, so many tips about being in control etc. I fear induction but I also now think with GD I have to start getting my head around it / sweep x

Roxy8203 · 27/07/2020 09:11

@ShiningStarz a packing list I saw had a bag for soiled clothes which I thought was a good tip, I can imagine it can get a bit messy so I've packed a laundry bag for the dirty stuff

OrDis · 27/07/2020 09:12

That looks like a good list @ShiningStarz! I went to buy some ‘big’ pants from asda yesterday, in case of emergency c-sections etc... brought my regular size- then when I got home thought to myself that was probably a bit silly and I should have got a size up because my tummy isnt going to deflate that quickly haha!!

What does it mean on all these hospital lists when it says going home outfit for the baby? Does it just mean a coat for if it’s cold- or do people buy special nice outfits? I was just going to pop a cardi/coat over whichever babygrow she’s in that day.

ShiningStarz · 27/07/2020 09:14

@Roxy8203 fab tip!! Added that one, thanks.

@OrDis I think it just means nice outfit for photos etc for leaving hospital but tbh they'll look cute in anything!! First outfit I bought was a Debenhams blue zoo white NB baby grow, vest, matching hat and button jacket so that'll be baby 'going home' outfit 😊

Chanel05 · 27/07/2020 09:15

@Lazydaisydaydream I did hypnobirthing on zoom and the course leader sent me over a load of examples of birth plans so yesterday, I went through and chose the bits from each that I wanted and put mine together. It's not extensive, just a couple of bullet points under headings like start of labour, after fully dismayed, when baby is born and in case of c-section. E.g under birth I put dad to cut cord, skin to skin, delayed cord clamping, vitamin k injection, no hatting, natural deliver of placenta, breastfeeding ASAP.

Chanel05 · 27/07/2020 09:16

Fully dilated not dismayed!

OrDis · 27/07/2020 09:20

Aww that sounds lovely @ShiningStarz! I think i’ll pop mine in something winnie-the-pooh... i’m slightly obsessed and have brought about 5 winnie-the-pooh themed baby grows haha!

OrDis · 27/07/2020 09:26

For anyone with a snuzpod, if you are looking for cheap sheets I brought the crib sized sheets from asda and they fit fine. Just make sure you buy the crib sized ones rather than moses basket or cot/cotbed 😊

Lorna198 · 27/07/2020 11:32

Hey :)
Sent home yesterday. I’m under control ish. They’ve put me on tablets but even with them I’m around 140/80 (danger is 150) so if it continues like that they will up my dose. Have to have it checked twice a week and now on weekly scans. They have also said me and baby will be kept in a minimum of 24 hours as the baby can have blood sugar problems due to my medication when born so that’s precautionary.

My hospital bags are already packed and I have a spare for the car with extras in case we are in longer!
@ShiningStarz only thing I would add is plenty of change (vending machine/car park)
Hubby was caught out for his coffee yesterday lol. Oh and a mini fan, so so hot on the wards!

MooseWL · 27/07/2020 11:48

@OrDis ooh that's good to know. Do you know what size the mattress is? I've got a bambino Cozee and looking for some sheets for that that aren't the expensive branded ones! I borrowed it off a friend so bought a new mattress for it from baby mattresses online which came in about 2 days I was really impressed they do mattresses for allsorts if any one is looking!
@Lorna198 glad you're home. Out of interest when you were taken in what was your BP readings? (sorry if that's too nosey?)
Mine normally sits around 120/70 but last appointment mine was 140/80 but he didn't seem concerned at all. I guess it's in normal ranges just high for me. Have since checked it at home though and it's okay!

Got my 31 week appointment tomorrow, wonder if they'll mention a birth plan, nothing has been said yet! Slowly working my way through the positive birth company pack and I think there's more on it later on in there.
@shiningstarz good reminder about bikini top for pool didn't even enter my mind. I need to check if any of mine still fit for my spa break too actually 😂

ShiningStarz · 27/07/2020 12:36

@Lorna198 I hope you are ok. You are being well looked after by the sounds of it.
Thanks for tip re. Change!! Must get some coins packed :) thanks x

@MooseWL I bought a crop top bikini top in Matalan sale for £6! I might not even get into the pool but I'd like to. I got it in size L, I'm 34d normally. Fits good.

ChipsAreLife · 27/07/2020 12:47

Hello, just catching up after a busy weekend.

@Lorna198 glad to hear you're on the right track. Sounds like they're watching you closely which is good.

@ShiningStarz your list sounds good, by washing bag do you mean wash bag? I would take your own shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, face wash etc. From memory there is shower gel in the showers but it's not as nice as anything that makes you feel nice after is worth taking! I love cleaning my face so will be taking stuff to do that in my bed after the operation lol.

Also with your phone charger get a longer lead as sometimes the plug doesn't stretch enough for the stupid standard short apple ones (if you have an iPhone).

Re birth plan I never got asked about these - I bought it up and they were like yeah just write it down lol. No one really looked at it though! Mine was pretty basic though DH to tell me the sex, wanted a water birth etc. I was adamant I didn't want forceps but the midwife explained that in the situation you need them it wasn't really a choice as they need to get baby out. Which was helpful as it made me realise that things are sometimes out of your control in birth but for the safety of you and baby. Also in my experience, the midwives want to skin to skin and try breastfeeding ASAP as standard. But if you didn't want to breastfeed you could just say at that point no, ill try a bottle.

I'm with you on the active babies mine hasn't stopped, it's also got its feet right at the top of my bump and is constantly booting me lol. I'm 34 weeks tomorrow so have midwife Friday which I am looking forward to hearing heartbeat and seeing how big baby is.

I am also getting so much pressure down low now. Trying to keep up with pilates to keep everything from getting too stiff!

ShiningStarz · 27/07/2020 12:53

@ChipsAreLife yep meant wash bag. Yep will defo be packing all my yummy smelling shampoo and shower gel etc I'm sure a shower post birth is just bliss!!!

OrDis · 27/07/2020 13:49

@MooseWL the dimensions on the asda crib sheets are 89cm x 38cm x 9cm. They fit my snuzpod fine- which I think is a tiny bit smaller than that :-)

Piper1879 · 27/07/2020 14:17

Just catching up after an eventful weekend , in abc again with reduced movements , honestly this boy !! All is fine and we've got a growth scan booked tomorrow so will be nice to see him again !

Can I have some baby bag recommendations? I was going to use an old Kipling but feel like it's not going to work now

@ShiningStarz a friend got me a fan with a spray bottle in ! I think that would definitely come in handy !

I've asked at every appointment about my birth plan but keep getting told it's too soon ? I'm concerned as I want an Elective C section due to baby's size , my weight and my SPD but keep getting put off

ChipsAreLife · 27/07/2020 14:43

@Piper1879 bless you glad all is ok, i sometimes find mine has quiet days and it's always when I feel tired so wonder if they're growing. If you want an elective section you would need to get that sorted sooner than later I imagine. Have you told them that you want a section? I would push midwife to be referred to a consultant.

In terms of baby bags I have a Tiba and Marl backpack and a Storksak changing bag. I was given the back pack as a gift after my second and it's amazing. I use it all the time, especially if I have busy days in London with work where I am jumping from app to app (not these days though!) The best thing about a backpack is it keeps your hands free, although changing bags are great when out with the pram as you can just put on there.

@ShiningStarz ha ha yes it is nice! Although with my first I was weak and poorly DH had to help me and also remove some stitches from my scar. OH THE GLAMOUR!!!!

ShiningStarz · 27/07/2020 14:49

Thanks @Piper1879 I just watched a video tour of the hospital I'll be going to and it looks fab and rooms all air conditioned so maybe won't need fan. The water bit sounds great tho, I'll search on amazon!!

ShiningStarz · 27/07/2020 15:38

I'v clearly got way too much time on my hands !!! I'm sitting here wondering will I iron baby grows and vests !! 🙈🙈 they seem too small to worry about but I prob will just so I can look at them again 👀💜

Sunsage · 27/07/2020 16:07

Ohhh The Works are selling those fans at the minute for £3 if you have one near you! Saw it advertised on Facebook and keep meaning nip into town for one.

I wouldn't bother ironing the baby stuff!!! But you're maybe nesting and feel like you need to be doing things? 😂

Lorna198 · 27/07/2020 16:13

@MooseWL the danger zone for midwifes to refer you is if you are over 150 for the 1st number or 100 for the 2nd. I was measuring around 155/105 so I had both ticked haha

Glad you are both ok @Piper1879

Lilice · 27/07/2020 19:40

I'm so gutted, online4baby got back to me and said my order should arrive in October 😭 I bought it in April, expecting it this month. I now have to cancel the order and buy it from a different company. I thought I had everything I needed but now I realise there's a lot of stuff I forgot about.

Lilice · 27/07/2020 19:43

I'm not sure if I'll do a birth plan, I don't think anybody will bother reading it at the hospital but maybe things have changed.

@Piper1879 glad you're OK

@ShiningStarz I would add a going home outfit for yourself on the list

Lilice · 27/07/2020 19:45

@ShiningStarz the lampshade is back in stock www.argos.co.uk/product/9177202

CNovittBolden · 27/07/2020 19:54

@Lilice oh no, that's awful! I'm so sorry. Try not to stress or panic. Stay calm - there's lots of places to get delivery from 😊 and you get to look again at all the lovely furniture from everywhere

ShiningStarz · 27/07/2020 20:15

Thanks @Lilice I'll be grabbing which ever maternity clothes are clean hehe
That's fab it's back in stock, thanks for letting me know. I ended up getting one from jo jo (white with elephants).
