@Laura1348 my DP is napping more than me! I'm 32 weeks and still doing everything.

By the end of next week my bedroom and the nursery will have been plastered so I can finally start painting and building furniture! I can't wait.

Planning on washing the newborn things and pack my bag at about 35 weeks I think.

I called the hospital about the protein in my urine and they said it wasn't high enough to be concerned so that's good. I ended up googling the pain again today and an old (2007!) mn thread came up with the exact thing! Everyone on there said muscular too so going to try and put it out of my mind (and keep taking the paracetamol!)

Next mw appointment is on Wednesday 😊

Lilice · 25/07/2020 21:04

What changing bag is everyone getting? Im dumping my old one and on the hunt for a new one now

Sunsage · 25/07/2020 21:16

I've ordered this one off amazon! I like the idea of a backpack and it can clip onto the pram too! Should he arriving on Monday so I can let you know :)

Wide awake at stupid o'clock again!!!

Ok so these are probably a really silly idea but for nighttime changes on a cold mat I'v purchased pack of 2. It's definitely the hormones lol! Putting baby down on cold surface 😢 lol anyone tried / bought this time?

Lilice · 26/07/2020 08:16

@Sunsage i love your bag! I think i might go for a backpack style too
@ShiningStarz i use a little blanket on the changing mat, and another one at the head level to make like a little pillow

ShiningStarz · 26/07/2020 08:20

@Lilice do you have it from head to lower back to try try keep it clean? Some comments from another thread were saying baby would just get it dirty as soon as nappy came off and it was a total waste adding to washing! I was thinking if had it from head to lower back it would stay clean but keep shock of cold mat away. 🤔

Lilice · 26/07/2020 08:40

@ShiningStarz that's true, and it's easier to wipe the platic changing mat. If you feel like it's going to be a messy one, better to keep it higher up. I used to have a fabric cover for got rid of it for that reason

Lilice · 26/07/2020 08:43

@ShiningStarz if you only get the legs out, they wont feel the cold mat though. The blanket i use is mainly to support the head, like a little cushion. Are those liners that you bought?

ShiningStarz · 26/07/2020 08:46

@Lilice yep they are mamas and papas luxury changing mat liners. I though I could use an old towel too but the liners are 80% cotton so soft but also prob dry faster! We don't have a tumble dryer. Just a dehumidifier x

sianyflewog · 26/07/2020 11:18

@ShiningStarz I used to do the same when I was expecting the first time round. We’ve always just used muslins over the changing mat, but I also have a M&P mat with a fabric cover so it’s never actually cold!

ShiningStarz · 26/07/2020 11:20

@sianyflewog they sound fab!! Would the cover not need washing frequently tho? I guess if your using Muslin underneath tho that would be the thing that would get dirty

sianyflewog · 26/07/2020 11:41

Yeah, it has a detachable mat which is the bit they lie on but it was always covered in a Muslin anyway. It’s this style with a little pillow for their head, the white mat comes off and is also waterproof on the back so if they wee it doesn’t soak through to the fabric underneath, and then you can take the grey cover off too.

@Lilice We went for the Skip Hop Duo Backpack, as it was on offer at online4baby a few weeks back. Seems really nice, although not sure I'd pay full price for it.

Chanel05 · 26/07/2020 16:37

@liquoricecravings I'm also planning my return to work as first day of summer hols next year to be paid for summer.

@Bubble29 when are you due?

@Lilice I'm having a girl, but I'm not precious about having any colour vests really, just looking for something that I can get baby in and out of when she inevitably needs her 4th change of the day!

@sianyflewog I'm packing my hospital bag at 34 weeks which I can't wait to do! I'm 32+5 and literally counting down the days. I know I could do it now but it's a milestone I've set myself.

@Sunsage I've got that changing bag and I absolutely love it. The compartments are great and it's very spacious inside.

Bubble29 · 26/07/2020 19:23

@Chanel05 Im having twins, my consultant said at my appointment last week she'll book me in for induction between 37-38 weeks which will be 2nd Sep in case they haven't arrived.

Work aren't aware of this and have my proposed induction date and my mat B form has my due date down at 20th Sep which is what it would be at 40 weeks if I was having 1- work said I still wouldn't be expected to go back in if this was the case. They've been really good!

CNovittBolden · 26/07/2020 21:42

Wow there's a lot to catch up on here! Glad to be reading about everyone's journeys 😊 can't believe we're about to be in August and due the most the after!

Has anyone started experiencing Braxton Hicks yet?
Think I may have had some today but not sure.

MooseWL · 26/07/2020 21:48

@bubble29 do twins normally come early?
@CNovittBolden I can't believe it's nearly August either!
My baby has had the busiest day today! No idea what he's doing in there but the movement has really ramped up. Feel a bit seasick from the swaying side to side all day 🤣

CNovittBolden · 26/07/2020 22:00

@MooseWL Yes, my little man too! Really big shifting today, so much so that I can see my stomach rising and falling - such a weird feeling! 💙

Bubble29 · 26/07/2020 22:06

@MooseWL yeah, they don't let you go beyond 38 weeks as the placenta is less efficient, 60% of twins age born at naturally before 37 weeks! I'm 32 weeks today and time is flying!!!!

@CNovittBolden yes! More so when I'm out for a walk, I have to stop for a while!

The babies have no stopped moving all evening! So weird feeling their feet, elbows and hands! I secretly love it, although uncomfortable at times

sianyflewog · 26/07/2020 22:37

@Bubble29 I should also be back in work for a fortnight at the end of August (FE college), before mat leave starts on 31st. I was told I wouldn’t be expected to return and will do the two weeks from home. Not sure how that will work as it is enrolment 🤷🏼‍♀️

I had a scan today (32 weeks) - it was so lovely, we have so many pictures of our little girl, and she is already looking a lot like her big brother. Despite feeing like I have the most enormous bump, she is apparently on the 42nd centile, about 4lbs currently and predicted to be 7lbs-ish when delivered at 39 weeks. My little boy was 7lbs 14 born at 38 weeks so I would be surprised if this one was smaller. Apparently though I have a lot of fluid in the front which is contributing towards my large bump!

Lilice · 26/07/2020 23:17

Thanks for the bag suggestions 😄 ill have to see with my husband which one he likes as well, as he'll be using it too and doesn't want anything too girly.

sianyflewog · 27/07/2020 07:29

@lilice I have a backpack from Joules, and it’s got so many nifty compartments - I love it. I got a floral print but they also do plain navy. It went into the sale but they have them in lots of other places - it’s called the Dinky (it’s not dinky, it’s got loads of storage space which I thought was useful for carrying bits for H too).

ShiningStarz · 27/07/2020 08:46

Lazydaisydaydream · 27/07/2020 08:53

@ShiningStarz one of my friends has recommended packing a little handheld fan, help keep you cool in labour (and maybe on the ward afterwards... They keep them hot!).

I'm going to pack my bag this week (35 weeks Shock).

What has everyone done about birth plans? As in, have you written one down already? No-one I've seen so far has asked anything about it and last time I didn't have one and no-one asked about it, but think I'd like a few things written down this time. As I'm trying for a VBAC I'm thinking about writing two - one if I have natural labour and one for if I have to have a c section but don't know if that's the way to do it?
