That's great news @Sara7455 glad to hear all is well. Can't believe I'm
33 weeks on wed!! Getting scanned that day so hopefully little one has grown a bit!! Then it's onto washing clothes and packing hospital bags eeeeeeek!!

Sara7455 · 19/07/2020 21:30

That’s so exciting @ShiningStarz. Hope the scan goes well for you! Did all my baby clothes washing last week as Wren is finally out of the incubator and wearing clothes- so cute seeing all the tiny outfits drying!

ShiningStarz · 19/07/2020 21:32

Aww that's just fab @Sara7455 what weight is he now? Have they said when he'll get home?

Emmy2020 · 20/07/2020 06:38

Has anyone bought nursing nighties yet? I’ve looked online but there’s not many to choose from, finding it hard to find one.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 20/07/2020 07:15

No and having the same issue finding decent ones so let me know if you find any @emmy!! Also thinking would use them in hospital also so could do with finding something !!

Sara7455 · 20/07/2020 07:20

@ShiningStarz he was 3lbs 9 on Saturday when they weighed him, probably grown a bit since then though! Starting to chunk up and look more like a regular new born now. They’re pretty careful about suggesting when they might go home - keen to avoid disappointment I think and obviously all babies develop at different speeds. Probably another 3-4 weeks at a guess though. We’ve just started introducing breastfeeding to him alongside the tube feeds so that’s quite a big step when he masters that

Laura1348 · 20/07/2020 07:45

@Sara7455 glad to hear it is all moving in the right direction.

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee @Emmy2020 I got mine from JoJo mama- it was £29- but expensive but all my maternity pjs from them have been really comfy.

Is anyone bothering with a nursing chair?? Seen a second hand one but not sure it's worth it.
Thanks all

ShiningStarz · 20/07/2020 08:29

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee @Emmy2020 I got nursing nightie from Boohoo. It's short sleeve button down one. I also got black pj also nursing. They are fab.
someone on here bought strappy nighties from primark, not maternity but I think I'll get couple of those in 2 sizes up to fit my belly!!

ShiningStarz · 20/07/2020 08:31

@Sara7455 wow that's fab!! He's really come on. They say 36 weeks is full term so hopefully like you say I'm another 4 weeks he'll be home :)

Lazydaisydaydream · 20/07/2020 08:34

@Emmy2020 I tended to wear button up front pyjamas with a nursing vest underneath at night for feeding. Although have got some specific ones from HappyMama which are comfy.

If you're looking for feeding friendly clothes I recommend joining the "can I breastfeed in it" facebook page - loads of brilliant suggestions for clothes to feed in that aren't necessarily "nursing clothes", really helped save me money as made me see what stuff I could use I already had and also meant I ended up wearing stuff where I still felt like me if that makes sense!

Sara7455 · 20/07/2020 08:54

@Laura1348 I know a few people who got a nursing chair and never used it. First few months when they’re bedside I imagine we’ll mainly be feeding in bed rather than getting up in search of a specific chair first?

@ShiningStarz fingers crossed! Can’t wait to have him home!!

@Lazydaisydaydream thanks for the Facebook page recommendation! At the moment I’m just expressing or feeding in the hospital so I’m just lifting my top up but not the most convenient once we’re out and about!

Laura1348 · 20/07/2020 09:04

@Sara7455 yeah I think you're right. Also concerned that if he doesn't breast feed will it be wasted?
I hope it's not too much longer before he's home.
Xx

Sara7455 · 20/07/2020 09:24

@Laura1348 this is true - no reason why you couldn’t bottle feed in them but they seem quite expensive for a Special chair when there’s already the sofa and the bed in the house as options for places to sit while feeding. In hospital So far I just use a pillow to take his weight while he’s feeding even though I could recline the chair

Laura1348 · 20/07/2020 09:32

@Sara7455 agreed. I'd prob class the chair as a luxury item and because he's not even here, I don't know what may be more important to get.
You've also reminded me I've got an old maternity pillow I can use for feeding him, or my own comfort! 😬😂

ShiningStarz · 20/07/2020 09:34

@Laura1348 I'v read so many mixed reviews on the nursing chair!! The actual advertised specific chairs look a bit ugly and bulky!! Ikea have the rocking chair It's called poang.. it's reasonably priced.

I'v read that by having the chair and taking them to that say post bath for read and feed etc it teaches them it's nighttime.. not sure how much that really matters but I suppose it's just a routine that teaches them that. I am tempted to get that one and then hopefully sell on

Sara7455 · 20/07/2020 09:36

@Laura1348 yeah exactly. If you decide you really want one once he’s here then they’ll still be available to buy. The pillow is definitely handy though, if you’ve already got one that’s perfect!

Laura1348 · 20/07/2020 09:39

@ShiningStarz
Yeah the one I want is bulky. Like I said I may just use an old chair in the house- can still use as part of that routine and see if it's worth spending out.🤷‍♀️
@Sara7455 -yep- they're not going anywhere 😂😂
Thanks

Lilice · 20/07/2020 09:48

@Laura1348 i was going to get a nursing chair but ive changed my mind as i realised i would be feeding baby in my own bed for the first few months and then hopefully babyy will be sleeping through the night when in it's own room.
@Sara7455 happy to read Wren is doing well!

OrDis · 20/07/2020 09:48

I’ve got a couple of Ikea Poang chairs that i’ve had for years and years so I’ve just plonked one of them in the nursery for now. Not sure how much feeding i’ll end up doing in there but at least I can sit down in there whilst I sort out the baby clothes 🤣🤣

baggies · 20/07/2020 10:03

Help! Daughter ordered nursery furniture from manas &papas on 20/5. Delivery is today. No dispatch confirmation so she rang them and thankfully got hold of them. Only to be told the items are out of stock and no idea when they are back in.
Daughter is really upset as she's had this with various other big items too.
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions as to where she can go next?

baggies · 20/07/2020 10:03

Mamas

ShiningStarz · 20/07/2020 10:27

That's awful @baggies. If she really likes the one she's ordered could she wait until they are back in stock?
I don't have any nursery furniture yet as little one will be in my room for 6 months. I'm using the build in wardrobe in box room for clothes nappies etc. Bought a changing station from Argos for nappy changes and it has storage below.. just an idea so she's not left with nothing at all. X

OrDis · 20/07/2020 11:17

Sorry to hear that @baggies. I ordered an obaby furniture set from babyandchildstore.com. Took about 3 days to be delivered, but I did make sure I ordered one that had a short delivery timescale rather than one on back order because I was worried about stock issues. I think lots of places have a massive manufacturing backlog at the moment. The set I went for is an Obaby Nika in grey wash- It looks lovely and was resonably easy to build (says my DH - I just passed him tools haha!). Quality is good, although the bits that came with it to attach the wardrobe to the wall didnt look great but i’ll buy some different brackets I think. Check what there delivery timescales are like.

OrDis · 20/07/2020 11:20

Hmmm do be careful though @baggies as having just looked at the website again I can see that the set I brought is now estimated availability of 10/09/2020- so be really careful when looking. I must have just been really lucky and got the last of the stock

emma278 · 20/07/2020 12:24

@baggies ours are from Silver Cross who have been great but I also would imagine John Lewis or Next would be good bets, we ordered our pram from John Lewis and it came really quickly. Xx
