I got BFP this morning six months to the day after my MC, only 12DPO but so happy. Please pray this one holds on!!!! I am due on June 1 according to OV calendars so have the pleasure of starting this thread.

Anyone else out there or am I the only mental person who tests this early?

Just got my 12 week scan date...will be at King's in London...and will take two hours!!!!

TwilightSurfer · 29/10/2007 11:29

Congratulations Maybebaby!!! Welcome.

goingfor3 · 29/10/2007 11:46

flosspot why are you going all the way to Kings? I bet the scanners are fab there!

GardenAngel4 · 29/10/2007 12:51

Hello all,

Congratulations maybebaby!

I have a couple of questions....should I be goign to the doctor yet? Last time I went for DD, he said 'I'm not sure why you're here'! And it was really hard work getting a midwife sorted after that. I think I'm nearly 6 weeks.

Also has anyone had a baby privately and would you recommend it...just asking because had rather bad experience on NHS with DD and am totally dreading it. Not so much the labour but the last little bit.

ChinaSurprise · 29/10/2007 12:52

Afternoon all.
Re the whole bleeding issue, I finally spoke to my mum about this yesterday. She had quite heavy bleeding for a couple of weeks when pg with my younger brother and after getting some rest it cleared up and he was fine. The docs did however, find a small dead patch on the placenta when he was born and thought the two could be connected.
Off to EPU tomorrow morning to find out whether the lifebean is still okay. Spent most of the morning thinking "I've got no symptoms" and worrying and then just got the worst bout of nausea I've had for days. Go figure.
Good luck to all in similar sits (and everyone else of course ). Will post tomorrow avo re how it goes.
China

ChinaSurprise · 29/10/2007 12:55

Also, congrats maybe baby.
GardenAngel4 - it sounds like you need a new GP! Of course you can go in now (I saw mine at 5+2) - that way you can get MW appt sorted asap.
No experience re having a baby privately - looked into it and ruled it out as too pricey.

Rolf · 29/10/2007 13:25

Congratulations Maybebaby

GardenAngel - are you in London? I know people who have been to St John & St Elizabeth (is that what it's called?) and it sounded lovely. Very keen on natural birth etc and lots of lovely alternative therapies and yoga, if you're into that sort of thing.

I know someone else who went to the Lindo Wing at St Mary's and liked it but then was v ill with post-partum haemorrhage. She was given a 50% discount

I think one of the issues to consider is that if there is an emergency you will probably be transferred to an NHS hospital. The friend who went to St Mary's went there becuase the NHS emergency facilities were obviously on hand. Also find out about whether there is 24 hour consultant cover.

I have been feeling so queasy and woozy this morning. So reassuring but so horrible as well. I am not feeding my family as I can't face the smell of food, and in the evening I am too tired and queasy to deal with it. Poor things are being very sympathetic but I feel I need to try harder.

I'm dithering about when to have my booking-in appointment. I want to leave it quite late as late time I booked in v early and then had a m/c a few days later, and booking in makes you feel quite hopeful doesn't it so it made me sad. I'll need to allow a week or 2 to get the appmt on a day when I don't have DD with me. And I'll need to allow a week or so for a scan date to come through. When do they like to do the dating scan - is it 12 or 14 weeks? Does anyone know?

Bit blithery there aren't I . Hope everyone is ok today.

x

Gracie14 · 29/10/2007 13:28

Hi all,

I've been to see the doctor this morning who was lovely -had a feel of my tummy and I've got to go back for a blood test this afternoon and for a scan on Wednesday morning.

I'm still bleeding not as heavy as before but still there so I'm not holding out much hope to be honest , thankyou ladies for all your encouraging comments and congrats to all you newbies hope you all have happy and healthy pregnancies.

China - Fingers crossed that everything goes okay for you

Rolf · 29/10/2007 13:31

Hi Gracie. I'm glad your doctor was nice and that you're having a scan.

I know when I miscarried a few months ago, even though I was sure it was all over there was a little corner of my mind thinking "maybe it's ok after all, or maybe I've lost one of twins and I still have one". I didn't admit it to anyone but it was definitely the right thing to have a scan and know for sure where I stood.

Sorry it is happening to you. It's horrid isn't it.

xx

flosspot · 29/10/2007 14:05

G43- going to Kings is standard with Bromley NHS trust, or seems to be- you get scan between 11 wks and 13+6, have bloods etc, then they give you option of CVS/amnio if needed....fingerws crossed it won't be.

Fingers crossed too for Gracie, China and others.

libralady · 29/10/2007 15:36

Just got back from my MW appointment. My goodness how things have changed in 4 years. She's filled in all the blood test forms and physio referral(due to back problems stemming from my first pregnancy) and forms for both my 12 week and 20 week scans already. I did question that should I be unfortunate enough to have a MC then it would be a waste of time and she agreed, but this is the way it is done now. I've just got to make a decision as to whether or not I want the NT scan and blood tests done at my 12 week scan. Not too sure about this one but I am 38.
Got loads of pamphlets and Emmas Diary and she's made my booking in appt for 28th November. So far I've been really impressed about the information received and the level of care I have been given. I have read some real horror stories on other threads about the lack of interest from the NHS when someone has gotten pregnant and would like some reassurance and information, especially 1st time mums.
Just going to catch up on this thread. Sorry but I just wanted to let you know about my positive experience.

flosspot · 29/10/2007 16:36

Fab news Libralady- glad you had such an uplifting experience. I got my scan date today, but yet to receive details of MW appt. Anxiously waiting....do have Emma's diary stuff though...

systemsaddict · 29/10/2007 16:44

Saw mw last week, got big stack of papers but no Emma's Diary - what is this please? Feel like I'm missing out!

Also, why don't medical professionals ask how you've been feeling ? Is it 'cos they don't want you to tell them? I tried to talk about having been feeling rough but really had to shoehorn it in, the meeting was all about the paperwork ... V professional and all, but felt that as I am a highly 'routine' case I wasn't justified in taking up her time whining about my mild nausea and exhaustion. But in my life, I'm not a routine case, I'm the only case I've got!

ChinaSurprise · 29/10/2007 17:25

Systemaddict
Getting swept aside is a real prob in the modern NHS. They just don't have enough time so many practitioners end up with the attitude of "I could get my job done so much better if it wasn't for all these annoying patients" (not all of them obviously).
You just have to stick up for yourself and demand the service you need - but it is hard. I had exactly the same thing from my GP - she practically pushed me out of the door and only took my blood pressure when I insisted.
GPs aren't great if you're complaining about something like mild nausea/ tiredness because they don't see it as serious enough. Unless your GP is unusual they'll be looking to deal with major symptoms, and won't necessarily take a holistic approach to looking after you.
Hang in there
China

GardenAngel4 · 29/10/2007 17:47

Thanks for advice about GP - I will go! rolf am not in London, if we did go ahead private it would be in a Nuffield. I have no idea how much it costs we have yet to look into it but guessing £3,000. TBH it is DH who is more pro this than me as he saw all the things that went wrong and got the brunt of the unhelpful NHS that night. My reasons are more about fear, but I hear what you say about possibly ending up in and NHS ward anyway.

systemaddict I totally agree with china, you have to put your foot down to get what you want - I had to push my midwife every step of the way at every appointment to let me hear the heartbeat. She said they don't like doing it because if they can't find it, it means a hospital appointment, which means admin, which takes time, blocks up the system etc I mean honestly!!

My health visitor also couldn't get me out of the door quick enough last week and I had issues!!

Kif · 29/10/2007 18:36

just a quick wave to say hello to all.

I've still not seen anyone.

Feel very sick though - I bet it's another girl! My dd I was horribly ill - ds, nothing.

josey · 29/10/2007 19:03

hello everyone, big hugs to all of you having horrible times at the moment lets hope the start of Nov brings some better news and luck.

for the last couple of days I have been feeling really S**t havent been sick but if I dont eat every hour my stomach churns i gag i feel faint etc I know i shouldnt moan but with my other 2 I would chuck and then at least be able to get on with my day. I also have major spots and my word what has happend to my hair yuck Im going to have to hide all the mirrors in the house if this goes on.

I dont have booking in till next week I will be 9.3 I cant believe that already!

Emma's diary hmmm Its quite fun the first time round a little book of how Emma felt and what she did though her pregnancy, there is almost 6 years between DS and DD and it was still the same book, lets hope they have changed it a bit, if not I will happy post on to those that have missed it

I had my poor puppy at the vet today with a bad leg, he has to get an Xray tomorrow to see if it's his hip, I really hope it isnt I cant cope with taking him half way across the country to get a hip rebuilt.

DH left this morning at 6 thats him away till mid/end next week he is bobbing about somewhere off Norway so fingers crossed for me I find some energy from somewhere before the kids look like homesless strays

TwilightSurfer · 29/10/2007 22:43

Josey my DH left yesterday morning for Seattle, Washington for five days. That leaves DD and I alone to cope with things like me feeling like absolute crap. I just want to sleep. I purchased a few prenatal exercise videos in the hopes they would INSPIRE me. I did a little yoga last night (yeah)...twenty years and it's still my favorite form of exercise.

DD announced today that she did not want me to have "the baby". Every chance she gets she pushes (not hard) on my belly saying, "get it out". I assume that's why she's been acting out a whole lot lately. Maybe now that's she's voiced herself we can work on changing the negative to a positive. My plan is to begin by finding her a really great baby doll so she can become a mommy too. It's got to be really hard for little ones to understand the "new baby" concept.

Again, I'll send good vibes to all those in need and happy thoughts to all those gagging or yakking it up all day.

3rdontheway · 29/10/2007 23:15

Hi Everyone. I told Dh today about the beanie and he was at first and then ! I havent been to the Doctors yet but thats the next thing I need to do. Im 6+3 now. Has anyone else not been to the Doctors yet?

debinaustria · 30/10/2007 06:32

3rdontheway - pleased your dh was at your news.

To those haivng problems - hope the bleeding stops soon

Josey and Twilight - hope you find a litle more energy whilst your dh's are away, I couldn't imagine coping without dh at the moment.

I'm as sick as I was , ds2 is upset that I can't take him to kindergarten as that's my worst time of the day. I'm just doing the bare minimum to cope from day to day. I'm hoping that in a months time I'll start to feel better.

Got my gynaecologists appointment on Monday - I'll be 8+4 and I'm looking forward to it but nervous too as I don't know how they do things here. I have been to him before to have my Mirena removed so he's already familiar with my nether regions!! Gave me an internal scan after having it removed and I'd never had one before - he was shocked, they are very thorough here in Austria.

Hope you all have a good day

Deb

ernest · 30/10/2007 07:27

3rdontheway, I think I'm the same stage as you, about 6 + 3 or 4. I haven't seen my doc yet, 1st appointment in a couple of weeks. I'm in Switzerland and standard is for 1st appointment to be between the 7th & 8th week.

My dh is moving to Italy in 2 days . OMG we've only been back home since Thursday night and the whole house is a state cos I have zero energy so I'm not doing it and of course no one else is. Goodness knows how much further it will deteriorate once he's gone.

We've decided to find out the gender of this one and tell everyine to get the stupid comments out of the way now rather than when precious little one is here and it spoiling that, like with ds3

sophiewd · 30/10/2007 08:14

Off to MW today, I did another pregnancy test yestareday, stupid I know but all symptons had diappeared about 5 days after they arrived.

Fingers crossed for everyone with scans coming up this week

Libralady I had the NT scan but no blood tests lasttime and will probably do the opion tis time, will be 38 in February.
