Is everyone getting tested for GD even if they have no risk factors? I won't be tested but wonder if I should ask. This lockdown diet is far from my usual diet with all the cakes and ice-creams

ShyOwl · 26/06/2020 09:11

Hi all, slightly late to the party but hoping to join?

I'm 27 weeks with my second
Due to have my 28 weeks midwife appointment next week, are midwives generally meeting face to face for this appointment?
I was monitored very closely with high BP in the my last trimester so keen to start being monitored a bit closer

pangolin84 · 26/06/2020 09:13

@Lilice I’m not getting tested either. I think they would do it if glucose shows up in your urine as that’s another sign. Not that they’ve been testing my urine so far...

Emmy2020 · 26/06/2020 09:17

@Laura1348 It’s a sleep aid, does heartbeat, shh sounds etc www.argos.co.uk/product/8829049

Emmy2020 · 26/06/2020 09:20

@ShyOwl Welcome! I’m 27 weeks too.
I didn’t see my midwife last time, it was over the phone. Have an appointment next week and hope I can see her this time! Also have another scan on the same day at hospital so it’ll be a busy day!

ShiningStarz · 26/06/2020 09:38

I never had glucose in the urine and my HbA1c was normal. Neither are an indication of GD. I did have 2 risk factors though. No harm in speaking to your midwife but your risk factors will have been noted at your 12 week appt x

Chanel05 · 26/06/2020 09:44

Welcome @ShyOwl! Yes your 28 week should be face to face, I had mine yesterday (though I've been VERY lucky and all of mine have been face to face).

Chanel05 · 26/06/2020 09:45

@sianyflewog I went to my local Primark last week at about 4pm, really quiet inside and no queue to get in. Got loads of good bits.

Laura1348 · 26/06/2020 10:31

@Emmy2020 looks good. Thank you.

MooseWL · 26/06/2020 11:46

Thanks @chanel05 (I'm actually 25th though 😉)

MooseWL · 26/06/2020 12:15

I've just had a call from a student health visitor asking to do my antenatal assessment over the phone. I didn't know it was a thing so was a bit like um what is this?! Haha.
She said she's going to ring me later once I finish work.
Has anyone else had this?! My midwife didn't mention it!

Laura1348 · 26/06/2020 12:20

@MooseWL I think so. It was just like the first conversation I had with midwife. Medical history including family. Etc

Roxy8203 · 26/06/2020 13:00

@ShyOwl hello, welcome along. My 25 week was over the phone but 28 was face to face as they took blood and did bump measurements. She told me all the other midwife appointments will be face to face as I guess they start measuring every time to track growth and check urine

Bubble29 · 26/06/2020 16:17

Oh ladies, after an awful first trimester (sickness, fatigue, nausea) I've had a brilliant second trimester, I've felt energetic, resumed exercising, diet on track and then today I've reverted back to all the symptoms of the first trimester! I've been sick twice today, feel fatigued and just meh.

I had a scan yesterday (27+5 with twins) and they've been flipped and are now breech! I'm so uncomfortable and both heads are right under my ribs- do you think this could be causing me to be sick and feel sick as my organs are squashed?

CNovittBolden · 26/06/2020 16:26

@chanel05

I'm missing 😢

Chanel05 · 26/06/2020 18:19

@Bubble29 quite possibly - you are growing two babies, they will be taking up a lot of space!

My baby is also breech currently, I'm hoping she makes a move as I don't want a section if I can help it, I'm hoping to have a water birth.

Lazydaisydaydream · 26/06/2020 19:24

Yes my baby is breech and it makes my heartburn and stuff so much worse (can imagine that's multiplied with twins!). I've been doing some of the exercises from spinning babies and making sure to sit on my ball as much as possible as really want a vbac! Which they won't let me do with a breech baby.

Lilice · 26/06/2020 20:34

@Bubble29 i feel for you. Hopefully they will soon flip into a more comfortable for you.
@Chanel05 @Lazydaisydaydream how do you know your babies are breech? I'm hoping mine isn't as I'm also aiming for a vbac. I've got a private scan booked in a couple of weeks. Last pregnancy, that's when I realised my baby was breech. I really hope it won't be the same again.

Chanel05 · 26/06/2020 20:40

@Lilice I went for a 4D scan on Tuesday and that's when I found out. I saw my midwife yesterday and mentioned it to her, she had a good feel and was able to detect that baby's head is sat under my ribs! Annoyingly, I couldn't even get very good pictures as she has her feet in her face! Having a rescan at 30+2.

Lilice · 26/06/2020 21:24

@Chanel05 hopefully your baby will turn, they say most do anyway this stage. Mine never turned though but i think he was always breech, right from the beginning. Good stuff they've offering a rescan. Is that with window to the womb? I have my private scan with them in two weeks, I hope baby will cooperate

Bk356 · 27/06/2020 00:52

Hi Everyone 👋🏻👋🏻 I’m a bit late to join but I’m due 24th September, 1st baby, team pink 💕 came across your thread attempting to find more info on what I’m actually supposed to be doing in relation to this Corona virus! I haven’t seen my midwife since I was 6 weeks pregnant (now 27 weeks) but have had brief phone appointments in between my scans. Finding the whole situation pretty frustrating/confusing!! Just hoping for a bit of guidance on social distancing etc. One of the midwives I spoke to said that from 28 weeks I should have no face to face social contact at all so does this mean I should be shielding? I’m not high risk and was planning on going back to my office job in July for 2 days a week as social distancing will be in place. Are you ladies seeing friends and family (socially distanced) and are you planning on seeing other households from 4th July indoors? Sorry for all of the questions but I feel like I’ve had no guidance at all from the midwives who have been in touch with me and I’m starting to worry now that I’m doing the wrong thing by following the general guidelines like everyone else? Thank you so much xx
