Thank you Lipstickmum, you have honestly brought a tear to my eye.

I really do appreciate your kind thoughts.

LipstickMum · 29/10/2004 21:25

Take it easy over the weekend as well, as much as is possible with a little one. Maybe it will rain all day and you can lie on the sofa watching b&w matinees and drinking hot chocolate or something.

I may check the thread later tonight, but tomorrow am going away till Sunday.

Lots of love xxx

Wifeof · 30/10/2004 11:15

Sweetheart, aha, I 've tracked you down!

I've been lurking on the ttc thread and had posted my congratulations to you but wondered where you'd gone!

Anyway, many congrats, and hope you have a steady and trouble free 9 months

love Wifeof xx

Cobweb · 30/10/2004 12:54

Just seen my midwife this morning and she has confirmed I am 9 weeks today and due on 5 June 05

MrsWednesday how are you hun, I have been thinking of you since your posts.

Love Cobweb xxx

MrsWednesday · 30/10/2004 13:03

I'm ok, thanks for thinking of me Cobweb. It has stopped and I still feel 'pregnant' (sore boobs, slightly queasy, weeing loads in the night, tired etc) so I'm going to hang on for a while. When this happened with my DS the doctors didn't do anything apart from check to see if my cervix was closed - they wouldn't send me for a scan even though it happened on four different occasions. So I think I'll just wait a couple of weeks and arrange another scan privately at about 10 weeks.

How are you doing today? Are you still feeling queasy? Was this your first visit to the midwife?

Tessiebear · 30/10/2004 15:50

Thinking about you this Weekend Mrs Wednesday - hope you are ok and taking it easy (Hope your spotting has well and truly stopped! Did you get this with previous pregnancies?
Anyone around - Bagpuss? - how are you?
For everyone that was really supportive of me last week when the reality of being pregnant / having a third child had really hit home - thanks Just wanted to say i have moved on TOTALLY from those negative feelings and am feeling really excited about it all. I think i had to have all those negativities after the initial excitement to kind of MOVE ON to the next stage of our family life - from now on in one form or the other we will have three children - and i cant wait for the whole experience now - even the anxiety about m/s has gone because i know i will just get through it as i did with my last two, and make the best of it! Just wanted to post an excited post ... sorry for rambling on!!

Tessiebear · 30/10/2004 15:52

Cobweb - 9 weeks- wow (4 weeks ahead of me!) How are you feeling at the moment??

Cobweb · 30/10/2004 17:48

MrsWednesday I am so pleased that the bleeding has stopped. I spoke to my midwife today about my experience and she said looking at her calendar my spotting was probably around the time that my 2nd period would have been due, so she thinks it is more than likely that which caused the spotting.

It was my first midwifes appointment and it took and hour with all the forms to be completed and chat. I also got good old Emma's diary.

Wow Tessiebear 4 weeks ahead of you its so nice that we can all go through our pregnancies together. I am still feeling so sicky and my boobs are sore and itchy today (TMI sorry).

My stomach is also like I am about 4 months pregnant so I started looking at maternity clothes around the shops today. I don't think I can do it. I think I will just buy stretchy clothes like I did the last two times.

Good to see you both today xxx

PinkArjuna · 30/10/2004 18:20

I am due on June 12. I just joined here a little while ago. I realised 2 days after conception That something wasn't right despite taking morning after pill. By second week of pregnancy and relentless thrush infection I thought I better find out properly, did a test and there it was. I am very scared. Will be a single mum. However things are starting to come together just keeping my fingers crossed that all goes to plan.

My midwife is very helpful. Though I never in my life wanted a baby and she thinks this is a good thing as I am not disillusioned about how life will be. I am looking forward to it. Though I am depressed and can't quite envision managing on my own, but I am starting to get my plans together. Don't want to get too excited until said child is in my arms. I've had spotting but we decided it was normal cos it was the time around my period and not actually red more dischargey and she said with trush it is more commen.

I've been getting nausea since the first week of the pregnancy and had a faint spell. I am gradually feeling more an more nauseous though lying still (when feeling sickest) I find the actual reflex to vomit hasn't quite hit me yet. Fingers crossed I am not, I am fearful about being sick. I have been afraid of being sick for a long time. I have mentally been able to hold back the impulse to vomit so far. I am so glad I haven't been worse as my friend Willow was so ill she couldn't keep down a thing and spent alot of time in hospital.

I have noticed my tummy harder and heart burn but haven't gained a pound. I never wear waist high clothes anyway so it all sits just the same underneath. I am not really convinced about weight gain. I think people worry about it too much. Also alot of people eat way more than they need in pregnancy cos it is the one time people seem to think ok lets go for it. I had anorexia in the past so can't give this any thought otherwise I'll be vunerable again. I find I eat a bit more than before I was pregnant but I eat when I am hungry and stop when I am full. This is what I'll do the whole pregnancy as I don't worry about weight anymore. I'm having a baby and my waist and hip measurements take no presidence over the health of the child I am carrying. I think the media puts too much unrealistic pressure on women and if I take a walk most days, eat what my body needs - nature can not be munipulated when it comes to body shape and type, this is what I am and I am not going to adhere to ridiculous ideals of beauty that society has dictated.

Otherwise I am doing pretty much ok despite low feelings and a bit lonely.

Tessiebear · 30/10/2004 18:36

Cobweb - i know what you mean about going through it together - it is so nice talking every day to people who actually understand exactly what we are going through. When did you start "feeling " pg and getting m/s ?- i am 5 weeks and have so far felt pretty much ok except for the odd surge of nausea! Feel really different to how i felt in my last 2 pregnancies (maybe a girl ? - mustnt get my hopes up ) Hope you have a good weekend - remember the itch boobs well
Pinkarjuna - 1st pregnancies can be daunting - if you havnt been sick yet chances are you wont (fingers crossed) Never any need to be lonely when MN is here! Good luck to you!

katzguk · 30/10/2004 20:04

welcome pinkarjuna, hope that you'll find our thread welcoming and useful.

SOOO finally plucked up the courage last night to take the medicine th eGP prescribed and have only been sick once today, a couple of little bouts of retching but only sick once this evening when i think it had worn off. Have actualy managed to eat food today!! yeah, feel so much better, DH said i have looked pale all day and looked very green and as though was going to be sick but i wasn't!! hoping that it will be just as good tomorrow have taken tonights pill so sure i will be a sleep in next to no time

Thinking of you mrs W, i had some bleeding at 8 weeks with DD and am now starting to ge worried it will happen again this time.

Cobweb · 31/10/2004 08:56

Tessiebear all my pregnancy symptoms kicked in at 8 weeks like a steam train hitting me.

Like you this pregnancy is very different, I never had the sore itchy boobs like this and certainly not the sickness. Not getting my hopes up either for a girl

PinkArjuna welcome. Hope you find this site as useful and welcoming as I have found it. First pregnancies are very daunting but stick with us and hopefully we can help you through it.

pandagirl03 · 31/10/2004 09:21

hello everyone,

hope everyone is ok. My symptoms come and go is this normal?

first pregnancy so everything that happens im worried is this normal..

MrsWednesday · 31/10/2004 13:48

Afternoon girls,

My DS is asleep on the sofa and DH is at work so it's quiet and peaceful in this house - lovely.

Hello to PinkArjuna, and welcome. You sound like an amazingly strong woman. Everyone on here is really lovely and between us someone will know answers to most questions.

Pandagirl03 - yes it is very common for symptoms to come and go. Mine have been doing the same. I read somewhere that it's because your body adjusts to the hormone levels for a while so you feel normal, and then the hormone levels increase again and you feel ill...and so on.

Cobweb and Tessiebear - are you both secretly hoping for girls or do you not mind either way? I love the idea of having loads of boys, I have to say.

So glad you've managed to eat something Katzguk . I also had bleeding with my DS at 8 weeks (and 6, 10, 12 and 15 weeks!) so I'm thinking that what Cobweb's midwife said about bleeding about the same time as AF is due would be about right (I'm 8 weeks tomorrow). Am feeling reassuringly crap today (headaches have started, yippee!) so I'm trying to not worry too much. Yeah, right....

Blimey, I am wittering on! Hope you are all well. Lipstickmum, hope you've had a nice weekend away - been anywhere nice?

megi · 31/10/2004 16:23

Hi everyone!
just come back from visiting friends for the weekend - it was lovely to see them, but I could have done without the long car journey - now feel really ill.

I am hoping to have a late afternoon nap before I get the laptop out to do some work - dull dull dull!

Have another appointment with the doctor tomorrow, just a check up - but will be able to have a chat about my symptoms - yesterday my boobs leaked! , I am massive compared to last time, and I am having that weird indigestion feeling that last time I got at about 14 weeks . I am sure of my dates though!

OP posts:
PinkArjuna · 31/10/2004 16:44

I have no concentration whatsoever. Will this get a touch better? I am trying to work for college but find I just get blury eyes and headaches when I really try to sit down to work on an essay. Most people say no - that it gets worse all the forgetfulness I am behind with work cos of the endless tiredness. I have been trying to take a gentle walk. I find it is either gentle walk or read for 15 minutes then I am done for the rest of the day obliterated with tiredness.

The sickness does go in waves. Sometimes I am paralysed in bed not moving for fear of envoking the gag reflex. Then sometimes I can sit down and have a nice meal. Or chips this afternoon actually I seem to have a taste for them every once in a while but have eaten them more since being pregnant cos I like the salty flavour. Mmmm craving me thinks. I have never found them so delectable! Also I feel less gasey and sick when I have them to fruit and other things. I find fruit makes my tummy gurggle and I feel that it might just repeat. Though I find mangoes quite tolerable (not to mention delicious) and they have an offer on them at the moment. So I have been mixing my fruit with carbs as I feel less sick then. Cos I was having yogurt and fruit which made me feel I was gonna run to the loo and hurl. I do think the only reason I actually haven't been sick is cos I fear it so much - so when the mouth watering comes on I literally won't move from the position I'm in till the debilitating nausea passes. I notice though that it is getting worse and am afraid of really being sick. I have found my self wandering down the street actually gagging and having to sit on a wall and do mind empowering exercises to tell myself that the nausea doesn't really exist. Helps but seems to be getting harder.

Cobweb - I am 8 weeks now and noticing the symtoms getting much worse. I was getting dizzy and sick in the first week even though I thought I couldn't be pregnant at all. Most people have said I still have time for sickness yet

LipstickMum · 31/10/2004 18:33

Hi everyone

Welcome Pink! This is a great thread and MN is great in general, I hope you find it reassuring to have us around during your first pregnancy.

Katz, glad the drugs are having some effect. Can't imagine throwing up all the time, I just get the nausea and have a real panic if I have to throw up

Mrs W, So glad things have calmed down for you. It's easy to get in a state, I know I would, especially if you've been there before. But I suppose many women experience bleeding during pregnancy that doesn't develop into anything sinister. I forget how much I worried during my last pregnancy, every single day.

We went up to see an old school chum of mine overnight. Was a lovely visit, although a long car journey, 3hrs each way. Thankfully I didnt feel too sick, but definitely can't face lots of food.

Am glad to be back and see you all! Hiya Cob! Hi Tess! waves

LipstickMum · 31/10/2004 18:35

I also wanted to moan about looking more pg than I really am already? Are you others experiencing this? Especially 2nd or 3rd timers like me. I am having to undo buttons, my tummy is sticking out, man it's annoying. Do you think you show quicker 2nd time around?
I think some of ithas been bloating and wind but I am also sure some of it is laying down 'stores'!!!

megi · 31/10/2004 18:38

snap lipstickmum - that is exactly like me! I keep buying lovely food in the supermarket in the hopes it will tempt me - but as soon as I get home I can't face it! DH even took me to a really expensive farm shop earlier. Bought a few bits but now I can't eat anything but crisps.

pandagirl03 · 31/10/2004 20:17

hi lipstick this is my first pregnancy and i have a belly already im only 6 weeks. my mum thinks my dates are wrong but dp and me dont think they are. i've been full of wind so i think this might be the cause.

MrsWednesday · 31/10/2004 20:29

Huge tummy here too . Mind you, I am eating a lot. And the wind....it doesn't bother me but I've had a few complaints from DH (and DS for that matter).

welshmum · 31/10/2004 20:36

Evening all and welcome to Panda and Pink.
Mrs W i hope you're feeling a bit better now re the bleeding - I had it with dd throughout and it was prettty scary.
Katzguk - pleased to hear the medication is having an effect - hope you feel loads better soon.
Suppose I should add my stats...
I'm an old baggage of 40
Married to lovely dh for 11 years
DD of 2 and a half.

And my stomach is definitely growing much faster than it did the first time round!

Tessiebear · 31/10/2004 20:53

Evening all,
Mrs Wednesday - second time round my stomach popped out literally Straight away at about 6 weeks (i had to go and buy the stretchy panel maternity trousers at 6 weeks!!!) My mum was convinced i was having twins until my scan - i think your body just knows what it is doing 2nd time round!
Cobweb -yes i am secretly hoping for a girl - but i already feel that whatever it is is "meant to be" and am sure it will be another boy - what about you?
Lipstick - hi waves glad you are managing to keep your sickness and nausea under control.
I keep expecting to feel worse than i do - i have felt a bit sick towards the end of the day but apart from that i feel so full of energy. No sore boobs or anything .... i know its early days though. One weird thing - i have completely gone of chocolate or ANYTHING sweet! Someone offered me a rolo yesterday and it made me retch!! Had to change my "usual" order at the chinese takaway the other night because i couldnt bare the thought of anything sweet and sour!!! Am totally addicted to fish - sardines on toast for lunch! Mackeral fillets straight out of the packet ... a whole jar of crab paste ..... neat ... eaten with a spoon mmmmm ... just no dessert ...please!!!

Tessiebear · 31/10/2004 20:54

p.s - Megi - not twins is it??!!

LipstickMum · 31/10/2004 20:54

Ahhhhhh, so glad to hear I am not alone in the 'tummy growing' dept.!!
Megi, interesting about the crisps. I find I can eat them too where anything else I can't stomach.
Gonna hit the hay now, see you all tomorrow waves
