Congratulations to all of you! I am not pregnant myself - have just had a little girl, well 5 weeks ago anyway. I didnt really enjoy being pregnant all that much - but reading your thread has made me really miss it and want to be pregnant again (never thought i would hear myself say that!)
But what I am trying to say is that over the next 8 (?) months however crap you feel please be assured that it is DEFINITELY all worth it in the end!! Good luck to you all (and hope you dont suffer TOO badly with morning sickness!!) xxx

littlemel · 23/10/2004 00:55

p.s muddaofsuburbia - i had 24 hour morning sickness the whole 9 months and had dd - so maybe it isnt an old wives tale.....?!

Cobweb · 23/10/2004 06:35

Tessiebear its good to see you hun (((hugs)))

I also have two DS's one who is 5 and the other who is 2½

COngratulations on your fantastic news xxx

Tessiebear · 23/10/2004 07:35

Thanks cobweb - ((((hugs)))) to you too. You have been through sooo much in the last few weeks - lets hope you have an easier ride through the rest of your pregnancy. Have you got M/S yet? Were your previouse pregnancies straightforward?

Cobweb · 23/10/2004 09:36

Tessiebear I feel sick most mornings and evenings and sometimes throughout the whole day.

My hormones are the worst thing when I am pregnant I can be such a cow one minute and then an angel the next. My DH is sick of it already.

My two other pregnancy were kindof straightforward. I remember feeling a tad sicky but then my memory doesn't always serve me well these days LOL.

How are you feeling ? Hope you are ok and it's good to see you xxx

Tessiebear · 23/10/2004 10:15

Well my first two pregnancies were EXACTLY the same - i was sure i was having another boy because of this! They were the same right down to having a really bad cold in exactly the same week of pregnancy as DS1! With both i felt sick until abouth 12 weeks - all day sickness then usually felt better in the evening - only actually sick a few times - mainly nausea. The M/S didnt start until about 2 weeks after my BFP - so i may have a 2 week grace period!

Tessiebear · 23/10/2004 10:16

oh and btw - like you i get serious mood swings and seriously emotional - i will soon start crying over EVERTHING on television!!!

Mirage · 23/10/2004 10:33

Cobweb I am so pleased to hear about your scan-I'd been thinking about you & wondering how you were.

Bubbaloo, welcome, what wonderful news after such a long wait

Tessiebear-fab news too,Congratulations,another graduate from TTC11.

I saw a neighbour with a new baby yesterday & before I knew it,I had blabbed about being pregnant. How come I can keep every one else's secrets, but not mine?

DH came home & told me that one of his staff is pg & due the same day as me.She told him yesterday, but he had suspected she was for a few weeks, but didn't like to say anything. She had a m/c a few months back & is quite worried at the minute. He has given her strict instructions not to come in if she is feeling poorly & to take it easy/go home early if need be.Yesterday,he took over her shift in the shop during the busiest time,so that she could put her feet up.Bless him I am so proud of him!

I'd better go,I'm meant to be looking for Christmas presents this morning.

Take care everyone.

LipstickMum · 23/10/2004 13:17

Hi Tessie, Didn't waste much time getting over here did ya great stuff!

What a horrid day it is down here. Pouring with rain, so dp and I are doing long-overdue DIY . Later on we're going to see a house for sale round the corner, about 5 times bigger than where we are now, but we'll be able to fill it with children, hurrah!!

What are the rest of you up to? Hopefully not feeling too sick

katzguk · 23/10/2004 17:35

how sick is everyone else being?

currently i throw up for about 10-20 mins in the morning, drink a hot drink, throw that up and then most of the day i'm battling with nausea and sometimes retch. Today i then threw up my afternoon snack and drink, had dinner at about 5 which i then threw up, i still feel sick now and if its like last night it didn't go away until i fell asleep.

i just about coped with sickness slightly less than this when PG wth DD but it only not nearly as bad at around 8weeks. The thought that it might get even worse is really beginning to panic me. i was sick up until 20weeks. Last time i was a studying so could make my own hours and DH was fab, but now i have a job, DD but DH is still being fab.

any suggestion gratefully recieved.

When is sickness considered to be above average? just wanted to gauge your opinions because you're all in the same boat?

Tessiebear · 23/10/2004 17:35

Lipstick - my DH has just decided we will definately get our extension done now - we have been putting it off for 2 years! - needs must!

Tessiebear · 23/10/2004 17:37

Difficult to say Katz - but i would say you have quite bad m/s!!! With my previous 2 pregnancies i have been nauseous most of the day but only sick a few times - are you managing to keep enough food/ fluids down???

Tessiebear · 23/10/2004 17:39

The reason i ask is that i had a friend who had to be hospitalised at one point because she got v. dehydrated as she was vomiting so much - she was sick throughout the whole of her pg - even in labour! (dont want to worry you - sorry )

Tessiebear · 23/10/2004 17:41

p.s - my m/s hasnt started yet but am dreading it - already starting to feel queasy

katzguk · 23/10/2004 17:41

this afternoon i would have to say no nothign gone in since 3 has stayed put!! i really don't think i could cope with an other 12 weeks of this!! hopefully i'm juts having a bad weekend.

guess gonna have to tell friends we're lunching with tomorrow don't want her blaming her cooking!!

have also started an indepenent conversion on this to guage the whole mumsnet's opinions.

katzguk · 23/10/2004 17:43

with DD i lost around a stone in the first 10 weeks through sickness and not being able to eat. M/W not too worried because i was slightly overweight (before DD about 1.5 stone)

Tessiebear · 23/10/2004 17:43

really feel for you Katz -m/s is sooo crap - hope you enjoy your lunch tommorow despite this

katzguk · 23/10/2004 17:45

thanks, i'm seeing my M/W on the 2nd if it is still bad or got worse then i will ask what i can do other than the normal - ginger, ect,

Tessiebear · 23/10/2004 17:45

i used to eat loads to stop me feeling sick -as a result i put on 5 - 6 stone with both pg's - i really dont want this to happen again!!! (i was only 8.5 stone to start with !)

katzguk · 23/10/2004 17:53

that was the only plus with bad morning sicknes last time was only about 3/4 stone heavier day i gave birth!! lighter after giving birth than before got PG!! put it all back on now!!

Mirage · 23/10/2004 19:56

Katzguk,you have my sympathy.

The book my midwife gave me says that if you have severe sickness for 3 days or more, you should notify your GP or MW.

It really does sound awful.I think there are drugs that they can prescribe nowadays.I had taken Stemitil,an anti-nausea drug for labrynthitis ,before I knew I was pregnant & rang my Dr in a panic over it.She said not to worry,as it was actually prescribed for morning sickness.

I really hope it is short lived & you start to feel better soon.
Mirage

Tessiebear · 24/10/2004 17:03

How are you feeling today Katzguk?

LipstickMum · 24/10/2004 18:50

Katz, you are having a horrendous time and so early on I'm not quite at the m/s stage, although I have had a few waves of nausea, just to let me know it's on it's way.

How are things with you Tessiebear??

Tessiebear · 24/10/2004 19:04

fine thanks lipstick - feeling a bit like you - odd few waves of nausea - just as a sneaky little glimpse of things to come - yesterday i felt really washed out but i think it was because DH and i woke up really early excited about our news! Feel absolutely normal today - boobs couldnt be less tender am full of energy and making the most of it!

Tessiebear · 24/10/2004 19:07

Did you go into labour on your due date last time lipstick?? I was 10 days late with DS1 (induction) and eight days late with DS2 (started naturally) - so going on my current form i will most likely give birth in July!
