@babyt2020 I'm in The South West, Somerset and all my appointments have continued as normal, Including a referral for a growth scan at my 31 week appointment.

36 weeks today

Cornishbumpkin · 11/05/2020 23:05

@BabyBird20 as it's maternity leave your taking rather than off sick you'll just need to inform your employer, I had to fill in a form for my work to request my start date

Zoey92 · 11/05/2020 23:50

@babyt2020 i have not seen mine since my 28wk app, she did a quick telephone call my 31week & i am seeing her on Wednesday for my 34week app as she would like to measure me etc

Busylizzie85 · 12/05/2020 00:43

@babyt2020 I have seen my midwife (right down south of England) regularly I'm now on a two weekly basis. I have had no issues though 🤞🏼 throughout this pregnancy where I have had to see a consultant or anything so I don't know if that makes a difference.

35+4

Pegase · 12/05/2020 07:25

@babyt2020 my appointments are alternating phone and face to face but I have had more than that and I am a second timer.

Cb31 · 12/05/2020 07:52

You'd think they'd have the same policies across the country. My midwife appointments have all gone ahead as normal. I think they are only doing some appointments on the phone instead before you are 28 weeks.
My baby is measuring large as well but they don't seem concerned. I had a growth scan last week when I was 35+4. It's between the 90th and 97th percentile line and was estimated as weighing 7lbs 🤦🏼‍♀️

Cb31 · 12/05/2020 07:53

@babyt2020 sorry forgot to tag you

Seventytwoseventythree · 12/05/2020 08:02

Hi everyone can I join? I didn’t know this thread was here. I’m 35+2 with first baby, due middle of June. Everything fine with baby so far though she is big and like others have mentioned I am waiting to discuss with the midwife what this means in terms of birth plan/going over due. Hope you are all keeping well.

Busylizzie85 · 12/05/2020 09:26

Just had my 36 week appointment (earlier I put my self as 35 but that shows I should not write things at 1 in the morning) went though birth plan which really was please get baby out safely I don't mind how, my area have stopped all home births and water births which was good to know. We went through when to call the labour line and what would happen in the hospital. Partner will only be allowed in once labour is established so beyond 4cm dilated, if for some reason I need a c-section he'd be allowed In but can not stay overnight.
Baby is still head down but favouring the right hand side so ideally needs to move to the left which is apparently better for labour.
I guess it's just a waiting game now 😊

For ladies worried about measuring big my midwife says they only refer for growth scans&consultant if you get 3 measurements over the curve or accelerated growth. Consultant said they will only advise/have the discussion if baby is over the 97th centile For weight/measurements . Other than that they just let you get on with it unless you request a elective section which you must be ready to know all the facts to put to them. I have my last growth scan & consultant appointment on Monday so I will let you know what they say depending on scan!

Blizy · 12/05/2020 11:56

I've officially been diagnosed with gestational diabetes today and was given a blood testing kit.
I'm a bit baffled by it and what to eat. I'm expecting the dietician to call me within a week for food advice.

APD1981 · 12/05/2020 12:26

I have my 36 week appt this afternoon. Just wondered if anyone had spoken to their midwife about the group strep B test? It really bothers me that they don't test you for this as standard as it is so dangerous if undetected. I'll pay privately if I have to but I'm going to speak to my midwife about it anyway I think.

AndddddHerewegoagain · 12/05/2020 12:32

@Blizy let me know if you want me to pm you some of the diet sheets i was given when got diagnosed with GD xx

I asked about strep B testing yesterday at my 36 week appointment, the midwife said NHS doesn't test for it. They tested me for MRSA though!

APD1981 · 12/05/2020 13:04

@SoloJazz my best friend got tested in a different trust a few years ago and she was away with her husband for a last minute night away and they tested her when she had to go to triage for bleeding. However, they wouldn't test her in our trust but she ended up having antibiotics when her waters broke because of the other trust's tests. I've looked it up and it's about £40 to do it privately. I think I'm going to do it ad the thought of baby getting meningitis during this pandemic is awful!

SoloJazz · 12/05/2020 13:09

@APD1981 I think they would test you if it's emergency or you have recurring thrash/infection but not otherwise unfortunately. I'd totally test privately if you're worried!

MJane3 · 12/05/2020 13:14

Hi all. Sorry want to jump in for some support and general chat. Due June 7th but last one was 9 days early.

How prepared is everyone? I have the bedside cot up and hospital bag packed.

For anyone who has other children, who will watch them during the birth? Think mine is going to have to be grandparents 😬x

SoloJazz · 12/05/2020 13:15

Thrush* not thrash

Millettmum · 12/05/2020 13:33

Do the urine tests they do every appointment pick up on thrush?

APD1981 · 12/05/2020 13:33

@solojazz I think I'm going to pay for a test. It's not expensive so i might just do it

@MJane3 we are due date twins!! I have pretty everything ready apart from food and snacks in my hospital bag. Other than that I'm good to go and I can't wait!x

MJane3 · 12/05/2020 13:53

@APD1981

Hello! I'm purposely not packing snacks as my hospital has a M&S food hall in the lobby and I'll definitely be eating from there! Cake

Blizy · 12/05/2020 13:55

@AndddddHerewegoagain if you could pm
Those diet sheets that be fab! My cupboards are a bit bare at the minute (I have a shopping delivery booked for Thursday) so I was thinking about making a pizza but using a whole meal wrap as a base, is this ok?

APD1981 · 12/05/2020 13:58

@MJane3 wow. Jealous!! My maternity hospital is in a separate building to the main hospital but on the same site so I'm not sure my DH would be able to leave to go to the shop there (sadly not an M&S!). We've been told we need to bring food and snacks for that reason. Desperately hoping I won't be in long enough to need that many though!

MissisBee · 12/05/2020 14:24

Anyone started perineal massage yet? How's that going? What sort of oil are you using?
I was planning to start this week, but I've got thrush (hooray), so I'll hold off until that's settled.

@Millettmum the urine tests won't pick up thrush, only signs of urine infection.

@MJane3 all ready to go here. Bag packed and in the boot of my car, Moses basket ready, baby clothes washed. All I've to do is make up the spare bed in case my mum needs to be here overnight to look after DS. We've been gradually stocking up on nappies when DH has been doing the grocery shopping.

I’ve been wondering about getting a private strep B test as well but not keen on taking the sample myself (think it has to be taken from rectum?!) Shock
