@MJane3 M&S Food Hall would be ideal I love their biscuits and cookies! Nothing in mine just vending machines.

I'm going to ask about strep B at my 36 appointment tomorrow.

Rinoa · 12/05/2020 15:21

Had a 36 week scan yesterday which was combined with seeing the midwife afterwards after I peed in a cup lol not sure if that's how it usually goes but all good. It did take ages though which was a bit nerve wrecking as there were lots of girls there. But they were very thorough and I didn't feel rushed. Baby estimated at 6 lb 7oz which they say is normal. He's still head down thankfully hope he doesn't decide to Flip on me lol didn't get any pics but was amazing to see him on the screen!

Ginfilledcats · 12/05/2020 16:14

@MJane3 I'd make sure you or your birth partner are allowed to go to M&S food! At my hosp once the pair of you are on the unit you can't leave even to go to the vending machine. Once the partner leaves after delivery he can't come back until you're discharged, and mum can't leave the ward either!
Hopefully just my hosp being this strict, and yours won't be but I'd definitely check so you don't end up starving and without food!

At my husbands hospital where he works only staff are allowed in to M&S to buy food!

Ginfilledcats · 12/05/2020 16:20

Speaking of being prepared, I just need to wash the baby clothes. Going to do the outfits for hospital this week, and the rest of the stuff (and bedding) when I'm on mat leave (next week)!!!

I've also downloaded Disney plus, Netflix and prime to my iPad so I have something to watch in hospital if I'm induced (partner can't be with until 4cm) and for post delivery (partner has to go once discharged to post natal ward which is about after 2 hours). How likely it is I'll have time to watch them I dunno, but thought it could be a good distraction.

Trying desperately hard not to eat my hospital snacks....

36 weeks today!

MJane3 · 12/05/2020 16:53

Ahhhhhh @Ginfilledcats I made sure it was open and that people could go, but I didn't think about if we'd be allowed to leave the ward! Potential disaster!! I better get snacks as well- just incase x

Missgemini · 12/05/2020 17:05

Ladies, I've hit the 37 week mark today! Termmmmm! Omg!
This is just so surreal! Thursday was my last day working remotely. I'm now on annual leave until 1st of June. Officially due 2nd of June! I'm glad I ended up working from home. Working at the hospital over the last month (even without corona) would have been a nightmare. I have been knackered since 32 weeks!
Our lodger has managed to find somewhere else to move to, so once she leaves this weekend, we will finally get the flat and nursery looking pretty.
I am enjoying lying around all day at the moment. I'm sure I'll get bored and start doing things soon!

37+0

And did perineal massage last time then had a section. Going to try it again for vbac but haven't started yet. This sweet almond oil arrived today

Missgemini · 12/05/2020 17:06

Also, as someone else has mentioned, trying very hard not to eat the hospital snacks Grin

Missgemini · 12/05/2020 17:07

@MJane3 I tried doing the perineal massage and it just felt so weird. Do you recommend using oil then? Any specific oil or will olive oil do?

Smiffette · 12/05/2020 17:09

@Missgemini woo hoo! How exciting!

I have 3 days left to go after 6 weeks working from home. 3 weeks annual leave before 8th June due date. so exciting now it's so close!

MJane3 · 12/05/2020 17:23

@Missgemini it does feel weird! I just googled what oil and this came up but yes think you can just use any natural oil.

APD1981 · 12/05/2020 17:58

Had my 36 weeks appt this afternoon but ended up in triage as baby's heart rate was really high again! 170-180 BPM. This baby keeps doing this too me! Anyway, got to the hospital and was given priority over the other women in the queue due to the reason I was there and baby made a liar out of us as the HR was back down to it's normal 150 BPM. Typical! Stayed on the trace for half an hour or so and all good so back home now.

I asked my MW about strep B test. She said go through the NHS website for it and you can order a test. Has to be done ASAP now, before 37 weeks ideally. NHS recommend a company called The Doctors Laboratory and you have to phone them to order the test. You don't pay until you send it back though, which I thought odd. They will let you know the results plus your hospital which is great. MW said they will absolutely act on the results from it if they come back positive. It's only £35 and so worth it in my opinion. My MW said she paid for it in her pregnancies, too.

AndddddHerewegoagain · 12/05/2020 17:59

I bought some water based lubricant from superdrug for perineal massage.

@Blizy I'm currently doing the home blood sugar testing, I have to send a photo of my results Thursday, I think my numbers seem pretty near the maximum but not over, were yours very high? X

Blizy · 12/05/2020 18:21

@AmyMaria2 I had 2 random blood tests as my hospital are not doing the GTT due to the virus. I've only tested once today so far after lunch and I got 5.3. I have to test 2 hours after food, so I'm due to test again at 7:30. So you recommend a snack before bed?

LillianFullStop · 12/05/2020 18:27

Oh wow @APD1981 - might finalise my bag tonight before my 36+3 appointment tomorrow just in case. I'm seeing midwife and having a growth scan tomorrow.

APD1981 · 12/05/2020 18:33

@lillianfullstop my DH panicked! My gut feeling was that everything was ok, though. However, when we got back DH wanted to practise the car seat again and put it in the boot, just in case! Head is also engaged now too which added to his panic!

LillianFullStop · 12/05/2020 18:43

@APD1981 I can imagine! Car seat already installed for us we're as ready as we'll ever be... except my snack stash keeps growing and shrinking as I think of more things I need and I end up eating some of it 😂

APD1981 · 12/05/2020 18:49

@lillianfullstop we haven't got an isofix one yet. This is the one that goes on the pram. I thought I'd hold off on an isofix because I honestly can't see us using the car much with this virus happening. We live a 5 mins walk from the doctors and clinic (health visitors etc). 20 mins walk from my mum and my sister. 2 mins walk from the village shop and post office. I've nowhere else to go! So as and when we're through the other side of all this we'll get an isofix then.

As for snacks... my midwife weighed me today. Was not expecting that and I got a very nasty shock on the scales. I know I've been taking advantage of eating too much but I am quite upset about the number on the scales as apparently I can't have a water birth if my BMI is too high. They've just started to allow them again, too. The scales there do weigh heavy but sadly not enough to make me feel better! I'm going to try and make some healthier choices now and not gain too much more as I'm on the cusp of having a BMI that's too high 😭

Smiffette · 12/05/2020 19:07

@APD1981 just out of interest what is the max BMI before not being able to have a water birth?

I've put on 2 stone and 9lbs so far, more than I was hoping!

mrssunshinexxx · 12/05/2020 19:22

@APD1981 oh no I didn't know they could refuse you a water birth cos of that what's the weight / BMI you can't go over to have one x

AmyMaria2 · 12/05/2020 19:26

@Blizy ah okay, I passed the GTT at 28 weeks but they think I have late onset diabetes I have a home testing kit they gave me, have had to do it 4x a day for week and send the results Thursday.

Fingers crossed it's okay x

BabyBird20 · 12/05/2020 19:44

A new one for me today, has anyone else started experiencing the 'Fanny daggers' as they seem to be called? Went for my walk earlier and had to keep stopping due to horrible shooting pains in the crotch!! 😬😬 Is this common? 35 + 1

Magpiefeather · 12/05/2020 19:52

Yes @BabyBird20 - really common and stops you in your tracks doesn’t it?! I’ve been getting them more and more over last week or so... wondering if the baby is engaging?

Cornishbumpkin · 12/05/2020 19:53

@BabyBird20 I've heard it's quite common as baby moves down. Thankfully not yet experienced the delight.

On the note of snacks, when I was a birth partner for my friend we forgot to take anything with us, by the time we went to look for something all the hospital shops were shut. Worth bearing in mind incase you labour overnight x
