I’m also awake between 4-5 every morning as turning over stops relieving the hip pain by that point. However this morning I actually slept past 6! But I had been up at midnight thinking I was about to throw up (I think from bad acid reflux) so I needed the extra sleep. @APD1981 I have been day dreaming about birth and seeing her for the first time for weeks and weeks now. I’m so excited for labour and birth. I also sometimes lie awake on purpose to feel her moving because I miss her when I haven’t felt her in a while - like if I’ve been asleep for a few hours. Since I’m due end of June I still have about two months of her inside me and I’m glad I get to enjoy feeling kicks etc for a while longer but I am eventually looking forward to sleeping without being in such pain!

SearchingTheSkies · 01/05/2020 09:13

Comfortable sleep is definitely a thing of the past. My bump is so sore when I turn over, and hip and back pain come and go throughout the day and night. Will try building myself a pillow nest tonight to see if that helps. I'm slightly concerned I still have 8 weeks to go, but it will all be totally worth it.

Blizy · 01/05/2020 11:21

I had a call from the Midwife this morning, my blood sugar was high at 8.9 and she's referring me to the GD team. I haven't had a GTT...yet.
I'm quite angry about this as I was supposed to get tested at my 28 week appointment but it was cancelled. I'm worried damage has been done with the delay.

Rinoa · 01/05/2020 12:10

Midwife yesterday said women can go into labour from 37 weeks eek 😬 that's 2 weeks for me! I hope baby keeps cooking in there past 37!

Magpiefeather · 01/05/2020 12:33

@APD1981 I don’t want to rob you of hope but in my experience it took me a loooong time til I started sleeping properly (ie like pre pregnancy, but with an earlier wake up call!) again.... just my experience so may be different for others but I found that while I could be physically comfier when baby was here, I never went into a deep sleep, it’s like constantly being half awake. I think it’s hormonal so you hear baby to be awake to feed them. Very very strange feeling but of course totally worth it. Also DD didn’t sleep through the night til about 2.5 years old (when we conceived this one, we are clearly glutton for punishment!) However I’m hoping that this time I’ll be so totally knackered that when the opportunity for sleep comes I will be able to drift into a deeper sleep (not counting on it though).

My current annoyance is the bloody cat has learned I tend to wake up about 5am so that’s when she starts begging for breakfast. I’ve taken to just waddling down and giving her it so I can grab a snack too and head back to bed for an hour or so!

APD1981 · 01/05/2020 13:29

@magpiefeather yeah my last comment was kind of tongue in cheek anyway. It just makes me laugh when people keep telling me to get loads of sleep in whilst I can. I bloody wish!! I'm not a deep sleeper by nature so not much will change there. Just have to see what happens. Oh, and I have 2 cats that do the exact same thing at 5am too! I relented this morning and let them out at 5.15. I can see me getting rather pissed off with them when baby is here, though, which makes me sad as they're my babies and I love probably a bit too much!

BabyBird20 · 01/05/2020 13:57

Had another bout of reduced movements overnight, didn't feel him past3am and eventually gave in and called triage at 9. Had all the sugary biscuits and snacks etc but it wasn't til I was finally in hospital and on the trace that he woke up! He seems ok now bit his heart rate was up and down so I need to go again on Monday for another trace to check he's ok! This little monkey likes attention I think!! 😬😬

Mj2196 · 01/05/2020 14:32

@BabyBird20 they certainly keep us on our toes don’t they . Glad baby picked up , hope all goes well on Monday!

Had my 34 weeks appointment today . Measured 38cm so off my chart , growth scan on Monday for accelerated growth . Fingers crossed it’s just an off measurement 😬

On a brighter note I actually went into boots today & got most of my hospital bag stuff. It’s feeling slightly heavy now though so I think I’m going to have to scale it back 😂.
33+5

BabyBird20 · 01/05/2020 14:37

Thanks @Mj2196 they certainly do! Feeling totally hormonal and exhausted now too! Can't believe I went in with reduced movements then couldn't come home because he was overactive and his heart rate kept spiking! Hopefully it'll all be back to normal Monday.

I had a spike in growth followed by an extra scan and it turned out to be an off measurement so fingers crossed for you! Mine is still a monster though with his head over the 105th percentile! 😬😬

Mj2196 · 01/05/2020 15:12

@BabyBird20 oh gosh you can’t win ! Hopefully he was just getting rid of all his energy at once& everything will be fine on Monday.

And oh my ouch 😂🙈 dd was 8lb 13oz& the stitches still give me nightmares

babyt2020 · 01/05/2020 15:19

Hi ladies, hope you are all doing well, I can't believe we can finally say we're having babies next month!

I had a consultant appointment today where they did a growth scan, they estimate baby weighs 6lbs 3ozs and I'm not due until 6th of June! I think this is HUGE but doctor said it's just on the large side but not a concern. I was offered induction at 39 weeks as I've had what they're calling 'blood pressure issues' but I've only had 2 high readings out of 15 appointments and both of those were during this corona stuff when I was anxious, even then it was 145/95. They gave me a monitor and my average is 120/70 so I refused the induction option, would you have done the same? I'm a ftm and don't want induction for many reasons, possible length of hospital stay, more chance of needing an epidural/c section etc etc. I've got terrible spd so I kinda want as little interference as possible!

Also has anyone done perineal massage or got their partner to? I'm really scared of tearing so I got the 'peri prep your bits' but we're yet to try it!

babyt2020 · 01/05/2020 15:53

@babybird20 what does your baby's head measure if you don't mind me asking? Mine is 33cm and 34+6

Zoey92 · 01/05/2020 15:58

Hi ladies.
Feeling verrrry low today and quite abit of pressure, anyone else feel like they have days where they drop a little? Im 32+5
Im also struggling with getting comfy now at night 😂

Rinoa · 01/05/2020 16:22

@Zoey92 yes I'm definitely feeling mood swings today. I woke up in a bad mood no idea why. So I plugged into my headphones and listened to some rock music lol then I got sad and then angry again 😂 I thought I had this under control as I have PCOS, thought I had enough experience with hormonal moods. Hope you're feeling better, do what ever you do that makes u feel good. Nap, bath, watch some comedy, have a good cry.

Rinoa · 01/05/2020 16:24

Anyone have any natural remedies to assist with labor? I have a weird one my mom told me - a table spoon of almond oil when labour starts is supposed to help so it doesn't last long and eases the baby out. Never heard of it before ! Must be a Mexican thing, I have never seen almond oil you can eat here.

BabyBird20 · 01/05/2020 16:59

@babyt2020 his head was 33cm at 32 weeks I think!! 😱😱😱

Zoey92 · 01/05/2020 17:09

@Rinoa sorry i should of been more specific 😂 i ment my bump being very low & feeling pressure low in my stomach 😂

But i can also say I've definitely had days like that too, I'm just not used to being stuck in the house

Rinoa · 01/05/2020 17:23

Haha @Zoey92 I assumed it was the hormones.

Gigitree · 01/05/2020 18:07

@babyt2020 yes I would likely refuse an induction just based on a couple of random blood pressie issues, unless of course you get to 39 weeks and you feel like you’re ready for baby to come early.

I had a couple of random high blood pressure readings, the first one was my first consultant appointment and the nurse was being a dick and really pissing me off so I’m not surprised about that one. Then I had a random high blood pressure reading at a midwife appointment but she made me come back a week later and it turns out it was her machine because they used the manual blood pressure monitor and it was perfect three times in a row on that and she even got another person to double check it. So I would certainly be refusing an induction if they tried it purely based on a couple of bogus high BP readings.

I’m also suffering with SPD so I’m making it clear in my birth preferences that I was as minimal interference as possible that unless it’s an emergency I don’t want my legs up in those stirrups!

We haven’t started the perineal massage yet, I’m only just 32 weeks and it’s not recommended to be done before 34 weeks.

peetieswie · 01/05/2020 18:27

@babyt2020 absolutely would have refused induction too.. I've finally started looking into birth choices (positive birth book) after my doctor friend nagging me about it for ages. My nct leader sent me loads of research on water births and they make it less likely to have an episotomy (is that the right word) partly because they don't check for tears as much. I'm planning on water birth and refusing checking dilation but a bit nervous it could cause issues to be missed, but the book very much encourages a positive view and faith in your body rather than thinking negatively which I think is a good point. They are still allowing home births but I'm open to pain relief should I need it so would prefer a hospital water birth. Problem is there is only one pool (still being used) at my hospital so if someone is in it I'd be stuffed. Considering home birth and hiring a pool as I'm so keen on water birth but worried the pain could get too much. A lot to think about! I also want delayed clamping and no induction or c section unless absolutely necessary. What have you guys decided? Is there anything else I need to think about?

newbyxx · 01/05/2020 19:16

@babyt2020 we have the same due date and mine was estimated at 6lb 7oz yesterday 😂, I'm being induced at 39 weeks x

LillianFullStop · 01/05/2020 19:21

I'm going with an ELCS and my appointment letter has come through with a confirmed date! So odd to get a definite date.

@babyt2020 I had an induction with my DD. I had stop start labour from 38w and I was getting no sleep for 2 weeks so they were worried I would be too tired by the time labour came. I could have said no but decided to go with it as I was so over it by then!

APD1981 · 01/05/2020 20:08

That's exciting @lillianfullstop. What date did you get?

Pegase · 01/05/2020 20:29

I'd be careful about avoiding episiotomy. If it's needed, it could be to avoid a 3rd or 4th degree tear like my friend ended up with. That was a huge deal. I had episiotomy and barely noticed the healing.

babyt2020 · 01/05/2020 20:33

@gigitree that's great to know thanks, it's not just me then who gets wound up and the blood pressure goes up! Last time I had a high one was when a silly woman cane in behind me and when asked if she had a cough and/or a temperature she answered yes! Wtf? 😡 she was marched out but I was already worked up by then!

Ah right I didn't realise it wasn't til after 34, I'm good to go now, can't reach myself and feels odd getting my partner to do it whilst telling him it's NOT sexual! Haaa poor deprived man 😂
