Thanks for the tips at @Mj2196!! Will try all of those things to try and avoid waking like that again!!

@Pegase I was told not to panic about waking on my back and just to reposition myself on my side or propped up if I wake up! I wake up on my back 2 or 3 times a night!! 😬😬

Firsttimerat35 · 25/04/2020 19:50

Had lots of catching up tk do here! Hope everyone is well! @Babybird20 glad you got some positive news at your scan and got to see little one again!! I'm another one who hasn't seen baby since 29 week scan 🙁 but I definitely feel him all the time!!

I'm always waking up on my back too and panicking. But also read about just making sure you settle back down on your side. It's impossible to control what we do in our sleep I suppose.

Still need to pack my bag but only 32+3 so hopefully I've got time!! I've developed a ridiculous paranoia though that has going to come early, I dont know why.

Struggling with the unknown with the midwife appts, got one on Monday which was delayed from the 16th but who knows when the next will be 🙁 Hope everyone else's have been on time.

Virtual NCT starts Monday! Which is handy as I feel like I've still got soooooo much to learn!!

UKtoSK · 26/04/2020 00:35

I had such a terrible nights sleep, seemed like from 1:30am I was waking up every 20-30 minutes with either bad hip pain or baby moving loads. At 5am I ended up texting my midwife to ask if it’s ok that baby was moving so much and getting hiccups each time (she said it’s fine and normal) but between the worry and the lack of sleep I ended up having a big cry. Feel like postpartum is going to involve a lot of crying.

Rinoa · 26/04/2020 09:16

Anyone packing some things for partner in their hospital bag? Like a change of clothes etc? Not sure if it's worth doing that but I guess better to be safe , who knows how long we will be there.

@UKtoSK I totally understand, I thought I'd be more prepared with the hormone surges as I have PCOS. But nope, there are moments that I just feel so out of control and just need to cry. It will be ok. This is very much when my faith kicks in and I try to remind myself how much I want this baby and looking forward to meeting him!

AnonyHB · 26/04/2020 10:27

Does anyone else NOT feel the baby during the night? When I get up to go to the loo (usually 3 or 4 times a night) I usually don’t feel anything. Occasionally I will and if I end up getting up and having a cold drink (which I often do) I’ll then start feeling movements, but if not I don’t feel anything. This isn’t new - it’s never been any different so I’m not worried, just wondering :)

Rinoa · 26/04/2020 10:35

If you have an exercise ball - this is a good video for pregnancy exercises. Just did this and found it helpful. Some positions were a bit painful for PGP but let's see how I get on today lol maybe it's a good pain!

UKtoSK · 26/04/2020 11:02

@AnonyHB I often feel nothing during the night, except around 5am, but even then not always. But sometimes she’ll have super active nights like last night where she was moving every time I woke up. Her only pattern is no pattern at all.

Gigitree · 26/04/2020 11:21

@AnonyHB same as @uktosk said, my little one’s only pattern is no pattern at all. Sometimes I’ll feel her in the night after I’ve got up for a wee and the laid back down, but then it’s only for a short while and I figure she’s just readjusting/getting comfy again like me! But generally I don’t feel her much through the night.

AnonyHB · 26/04/2020 11:24

Oh good glad it’s not just me! Mine has a bit of a pattern in that I tend to feel him/her quite a bit mid morning and again mid afternoon and then after dinner, but the actual times and intensity of the movements varies considerably. Some days the movements are strong and almost constant, others it’s much more subtle and tends to just be during the periods I’ve mentioned above. Some days seems active on their own, others I tend to feel more if I give some stimulus (cold drinks, sugar or prodding!) my entire life and mood revolves around how the baby is performing each day. If they’re having an active day I feel relieved and calm because I know they’re ok. On quiet days I worry a lot and feel anxious :( looking forward to baby being here so I don’t have to constantly assess the movements!

AndddddHerewegoagain · 26/04/2020 11:52

@AnonyHB you still don't get rest because you just gaze at them sleeping the whole time making sure they're breathing!!

OP posts:
Ginfilledcats · 26/04/2020 12:15

@AnonyHB I am the absolute same, my mood is so dependant on how much she's moving! Mine has a really long pattern in that there's a pattern over a week rather than a day, really active over the weekend, and during the week until about wednesday, pretty much every Thursday I'm convinced something is wrong and end up ringing triage. I think I also have a weekly hormonal surge around this time too that doesn't help. I've also started to notice that I feel more when she's transverse, which is often. When she's head down it's much more subtle. Trying to relax and trust in us both more which is helping now.

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 26/04/2020 14:23

Catching up with all the posts and it's great to see I am not alone with hip pain, waking on my back, fretting about movement etc! Not that I wish this on you all but it's nice to not feel alone.

I rang into triage on Wed on my MWs advice as movements have been much less vigorous for a few days and they told me to come in for a trace. Not much was happening but I had a growth scan appt for that day anyway so they had a look and I have excess fluid which is why I can't feel the movements as hard. I went back on the trace and the wee one perked up a bit so they're not concerned, but I've to go back in 2 weeks for another scan to monitor the fluid. I'm already at risk for prem birth based on my history and excess fluid increases prem risk too so the bag is getting packed this week just incase.

I am packing a change of clothes for DH as last time our wee one puked brown blood all over him and he had to leave to buy a new tshirt down the street! As he cannot come back after he leaves this time due to CV19 I thought better safe than sorry! I'll stick his toothbrush and deodorant in aswell incase we're there for a couple of days.

Incase you're wondering, the brown blood baby puked up was likely swallowed. We think when he was suctioned after being born the Drs may have scraped his wee throat, not ideal but a very small price to pay for getting him breathing.

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 26/04/2020 14:25

Also, has anyone's bump dropped? I can finally breathe again and I've had two normal sized dinners now without puking! I feel so much comfier. The negative is that the fanny daggers are worse so taking it easy :)

BabyBird20 · 26/04/2020 15:20

@Ginfilledcats mine seems to be in a weekly pattern now, every Sunday I suddenly realise I've barely felt him all day! I wonder if it's linked to the full week being on a Monday if you see what I mean? Maybe a growth spurt or something. But now I've spotted it I jut try and make sure I feel him at some points during the day so I don't panic at 8pm and end up calling triage again!

Magpie21 · 26/04/2020 15:33

Hello, I view the thread every day and never contribute, so I’m going to be a bit better!

I would say in the past week my sleeping quality has deteriorated due to my comfort levels, so I am in the same boat as most of you ladies. I think that is one of the joys of the third trimester!

I’m constantly mindful of the baby movements - I have to say I didn’t realise this would be such a worry as it has become! It completely dictates my mood.

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth my bump hasn’t dropped yet, but I’m looking forward to taking a deep breath when I can! I am finding it hard to practice my hypnobirthing breathing exercises at the moment. I’m sure it will happen for me in the next few weeks..

32 weeks, baby girl :)

Zoey92 · 26/04/2020 15:41

Very u comfortable today, definitely feeling like lower stomach stretching and achey im in a liiittle bit of pain so I've spent last 2hours laying in bed for some sort of relief.

32+0

Millettmum · 26/04/2020 17:21

I was slightly worried with reduced movements so got checked out today, heartbeat was fine but they'll book a scan this week to double check even though I have one on the 5th anyway.

peetieswie · 26/04/2020 17:24

Not long to go now for some of you! I wonder who will be first to leave a message saying they've had baby. That will make all this seem more real I think. Would like bump to drop! Still really high and our of breath very fast. I don't need a wee particularly often though. Lots of sickness and reflux throughout the day though too. I'd probably rather constant wees to breathlesness. Baby still super active, I feel movements every five minutes generally. I have no idea when it sleeps. It is reassuring because every time I worry I haven't felt baby in a while it moves with in a couple of minutes but I don't know how it can be so active! Also, woke up screaming in agony with leg cramp last night so thats still a feature. Gonna eat some bananas before bed tonight.

Firsttimerat35 · 26/04/2020 18:18

I think sometimes I forget how far along I am!! One day I'm panicking about the hospital bag, etc. The next I dont even give it a thought and I'm getting around fine and feel great and don't feel too uncomfortable...but at nearly 33 weeks, 7 weeks to go is nothing really!!! Some of you must be right on top if your day by now?? I cant find the spreadsheet!

Sleeping is ok until I wake up absolutely bursting for the loo then it's hard to get up!! Turing over is a challenge as well.

Had a really long walk earlie which has not done my hips and back any favours at all. But it's got to be better than sitting on my backside all day!

Definitely getting hubby to pack a change of clothes just in case we have to stay in. I've got the midwife tomorrow so really hoping I can get a good idea of size and position...I've found my check ups pretty brief and vague so far, even before coronavirus. It's good that you guys are being sent for extra scans when you're concerned.

umabb · 26/04/2020 18:41

@UKtoSK sounds exactly like me last night.... Couldn't sleep for ages then vivid dreams and woke up frequently until 4am I woke the husband who then heated me some milk and read us a bedtime story.. (a bit silly but we read children's stories before bed quite a lot, to the baby but I have to admit i do like them too! 😝) then I finally got a bit sleep between 5-8 but restless. Little B had a super active day and night yesterday and I felt at least two sessions of hiccups too overnight. I asked the fetal medical specialist who I've been seeing about it and he said it's completely normal to have hiccups so not too worry x I got a bit stressed when couldn't sleep but I just told myself , it's probably the new norm now.. and I asked for this - a baby.. 🤪😂 hope we get better sleep tonight ! :)

I wanted to ask have any of you used /will use a belly bandit post pregnancy? A work colleague who had c section for her 2nd baby recommended it but I'm not so sure at the moment and so many different types!!

33 weeks today !

Magpie21 · 26/04/2020 19:11

@umabb I know what you mean about worrying about hiccups. I get them fairly often and find the sensation a bit unnerving in the beginning (a couple of weeks ago) but I’m calmer about them now.

Not sure about a belly bandit, I hadn’t given it any thought, but I might feel differently after the birth.

@peetieswie It will be so nice to see all the birth announcements start coming through in a few weeks.

I really like reading the birth stories on The Positive Birth Instagram. I’m part way through the book and online course and finding it really helpful.

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 26/04/2020 20:26

I have a mattress related question for anyone on baby 2+! I know guidelines suggest every baby should have a new mattress. We got a new crib so are sorted for that but have questions re the big cot that we used for DC1.

We have a Mamas and Papas cot that turns into a toddler bed and they mistakenly sent us two mattresses last time! We stored one in my parents loft still in the plastic wrap. It's been up there now for almost 6 years. It's never been used or taken out of the plastic wrapper but am thinking it could be a bit musty. Would you use it or buy a new one? It would cost £200 to replace that exact mattress though obviously we could buy a cheaper one. We got the cot and mattress as a gift and we can't afford to buy the same one.

BabyBird20 · 26/04/2020 23:16

Just been reading a really interesting thread on here if any other ftms are wondering what the must haves are!! I'm feeling unprepared again now!! Must pick a hospital bag, I'm 33 weeks tomorrow!! 😱

What was one thing you couldn't live without when you first had a baby? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/3890823-What-was-one-thing-you-couldnt-live-without-when-you-first-had-a-baby

UKtoSK · 26/04/2020 23:22

Glad I’m not the only one whose mood is affected by baby movements. Even when she’s keeping me up all night I get sad when she goes to sleep and I miss her. Is it going to be the same when she’s born? Am I going to miss her while she’s sleeping?

@umabb sorry you had a bad night! I slept much better last night, felt baby having a party at 3am but was so tired I slept through it. Still woke every hour to turn over from hip pain but I don’t think that’ll change before she’s born now.

Bought a car seat and put together the chest of drawers yesterday so feeling more prepared now. Excited to start washing her clothes and bedding etc and organise it all.
