Just managed to catch up with the thread! Little man now laying transverse, has been head down until now but suppose he's just making the most of the room whilst he has it!

Just found a good YouTube video about how to do perineal massage if anyone is interested.

Fab news about the scan @BabyBird20 Grin

Hope everyone is keeping well, can't believe we have less than 2 months to go!!

BabyBird20 · 22/04/2020 22:50

Thanks again ladies, love having this thread to share on as it's so nice to have other people who understand the worries of pregnancy and are living it at the same time!! To celebrate we built our new snuzpod and the bouncy chair that came free with it! Now need to tidy the house and pack a hospital bag and I might start to feel a bit prepared!! 😊😊

AmyMaria2 · 23/04/2020 02:04

Congratulations @BabyBird20 !! So happy for you, that's amazing❤️

What you thinking about c section or induction, any preference yet?xx

Ginfilledcats · 23/04/2020 08:00

Just to bring the mood down but need to vent if that's ok?
Had a bad night 🙁 baby was super active yesterday but just cut off about 9pm and was very quiet. Occasional kick nothing much. Up half the night with worry. I get this literally every week (usually on a Thursday) she's kicking gently now but still worrying. I've been to be monitored 5 times and had multiple scans and everything's fine. I know a large portion of it is my anxiety, coupled with work stress, coupled with loneliness quite frankly. Feel miserable and sad. But I can feel her moving some. She's just so different from one day to the next, and has been like this since she started moving! I don't know why I still struggle with it so much!
Laid the guilt trip on my husband this morning as he had originally said he'd WFH today but has had to go in.

Anyone else get like this sometimes?

mrssunshinexxx · 23/04/2020 08:11

@Ginfilledcats my advise is to get a piece of paper and make a tally of every time you feel baby whether it light or big movements , seeing it written down is bound to put your mind as rest x

Busylizzie85 · 23/04/2020 08:33

All the time @Ginfilledcats mine does what she's wants when she wants and likes to worry me constantly with quiet days! My partner is still out working as well so I am by myself a lot which makes me over think things.
I would agree with @mrssunshinexxx make a note of all the times you feel a wiggle or kick it does make you feel slightly better honestly.

peetieswie · 23/04/2020 08:33

@babybird20 so pleased you had good news! @APD1981 also haven't seen baby on scan since 20 weeks. It's a shame as I would have had a 3D scan by now and taken both our mums.

Had midwife yesterday and every time I go I'm worrying before, but everything I say just turns out to be perfectly normal. I've had flashing lights but he thinks it's just low blood pressure, which I've always had and has always affected my vision. Said panic attack seems upsetting but nothing to worry about. I kinda wanted to just stay and chat just to stay out the house for a while and talk to another human being, but he had other people to see. Also had NCT first NCT class last night. A lot of them are due end of July which was a bit weird, but two others due in June. It was OK but you couldn't get to know other people in the same way you would in real life. We're on a WhatsApp group chat and I was thinking of sending some of them messages directly just to say hi and chat a bit more, but is that weird?

Gigitree · 23/04/2020 08:59

@peetieswie I know what you mean, in our NCT group I’m one of two that are due in June, the rest are all Mid-lateJuly too.
In our NCT group one of the ladies set up a separate group just for the ladies so we can chat and moan about our pregnancy symptoms etc. That’s helped us to connect a little bit better, perhaps you could do that?

newbyxx · 23/04/2020 09:00

@Ginfilledcats I'm the exact same I've been in 4
Times as mine has 'quiet' days atleast once a week! Could be routine but he doesn't have a set day etc he seems to be different every day still! With my anterior placenta when he has quiet days I can literally go all day without feeling him. I'm trying to balance my anxiety as he's been fine every time I've been monitored and had extra scans but I struggle with it a lot.
I'm always thinking what if I leave it this time and he's not ok! Ive found this whole pregnancy quite stressful because of worry and anterior placenta has played major part in it I think! Hoping the next 6 weeks go fast and I can have him here safe and my worry levels go down! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Gigitree · 23/04/2020 09:15

@Ginfilledcats mine has quiet days too. I’ve come close to going in to be monitored but not actually gone in yet, mostly because it’s always been her ‘pattern’ to have a quiet day here and there, it only worries me when it rolls over into day 2 of being quiet, but thankfully so far by the time I’ve decided to call triage she’s always a started moving again.
It’s normal to be worried especially when we’re told to ring as soon as there is a change in movements.

Ginfilledcats · 23/04/2020 09:23

Thank you all so much for your sympathy and support! Obviously I'm not glad you're experiencing it too but glad I'm not alone/crazy. I lost my last pregnancy early on (8 weeks) and have been paranoid this entire pregnancy that I can't be this lucky and something will happen again. I have good days and bad. 2 friends who lost babies last year have just had theirs so trying to stay positive with if they can have their happy ending so can I!

Exactly it's hard to balance anxiety with what if THIS time it's something. I will make a little tally of squirms/kicks. Thanks for the advice She's head down again which I always feel less movement for for some reason.

33+3 so hopefully not too much longer to worry about her inside me, and can switch to worrying about her outside haha. The last time I went in the doctor I saw said if I had any more episodes they'd look at inducing me at 38 weeks! Which id obviously like to avoid!

Thank you all so much. Groups like this are a godsend when we're on lock down! Hope you're all well xxx

Gigitree · 23/04/2020 09:33

@Ginfilledcats I had a miscarriage last year early on too so I totally get where you’re coming from, it does make you extra paranoid.
Last time the midwife checked my little one is head down too and I certainly don’t feel kicks as much as I generally just feel her moving around.

I agree I’m so glad we have this group to help vent our worries too xx

Kez437 · 23/04/2020 09:56

Hi all, just checking in. Midwife appointment later this morning, looking forward to get chatting to someone, I have had random sharp pains across my tummy on a couple of occasions that literally take my breath away. Rang the emergency obgyn line but given the pains weren't continuous and balancing against the current risk was advised not to come in unless they got worse which they didn't. Still I'll be glad to see someone today and try and get to the bottom of them and check baby is ok. Definitely struggling with getting up or rolling over or any such movements now. I feel like I've got massive really dramatically!
Started my hospital bag, spoke to my sister in law who had her baby in December and she made 4 points which some might helpful:-

  1. Remember your leggings or bottoms you wear in will get soaked with various things and you will need more, especially if labour is long and you don't want to be walking about in your undies.
  2. Bring more pants than you think you'll ever need.
  3. Pyjamas are too warm and not practical when there is a lot going on downstairs even after birth so opt for nightdresses and nightshirts especially if intending to BF (Tesco have some).
  4. Try stick to dark colours post delivery in case of seepage, there could be a lot of blood Grin
Sounds glamorous. Hope everyone is keeping well, we are so nearly there ladies Thanks
Cornishbumpkin · 23/04/2020 10:16

Thanks @Kez437 those are really helpful tips. Hope your appt goes well today.

umabb · 23/04/2020 10:21

@Kez437 thanks for this - definitely very helpful! Will add more pants and leggings to (my list for) the hospital bag 👍

@Ginfilledcats I hear you. x Same bad experiences before hence more worry. Paid for more private scans in this pregnancy just to be sure too. First trimester I literally lived in fear.
Babies can definitely have busier and quieter days. Believe he/she had an active day so got quite tired by the point of 9pm. Little B has very busy days following with a much less active day too. But always sensible to monitor and check out xx

BabyBird20 · 23/04/2020 13:28

@amymaria I'm leaning more towards an elective c section as I just feel at least I'd know when it was happening and feel more in control. I've heard bad things about early inductions being more painful and likely to end in emcs anyway which apparently are harder to recover from! I mainly worry because his head is already the size of a 36weeker, so if I don't give birth til 40 weeks it'll be the equivalent of a 44 weeker!!

Kez437 · 23/04/2020 13:36

Hi all, back from midwives appointment and they found a small amount of protein in my urine so they have sent it away to get tested given the pain I was describing in my tummy. Must admit I freaked a bit when she mentioned the protein thinking of pre-eclampsia but given no raised blood pressure and the small amount midwife wasn't concerned of this. She seemed to think it could be a UTI and asked if I had been going to the bathroom a lot. I have but just put it down to pregnancy because no stinging etc.
Anyone else had UTIs so far? Beginning to think this could be it, it's my lower abdomen that is sore and I generally feel like I've been hit with a bus
Only one week left of work though which is a positive.
@umabb and @Cornishbumpkin glad you filling the list helpful, I did too!

Gigitree · 23/04/2020 15:37

Has anyone else suddenly discovered they’ve got dandruff? I don’t know if this is a pregnancy thing or not? I’ve never suffered with dandruff but today I discovered I have it, along with generally drier skin than normal. Is this a pregnancy thing or just something random that’s happened to me?

Busylizzie85 · 23/04/2020 15:48

@Gigitree I have found my scalp and skin have been much drier throughout this pregnancy having to moisturise morning and evening especially my legs which is a challenge 😂

Gigitree · 23/04/2020 15:55

It must be a pregnancy thing then! @Busylizzie85 I never normally suffer with dry skin so I’m going to have to send hubby out for some anti dandruff shampoo and start slathering on the moisturiser morning and evening!

Haha I can imagine trying to moisturise your legs will only get more challenging as the weeks go by 😂

MsMiaWallace · 23/04/2020 16:04

When are will all starting MAT leave?

I've got A/L from 15th May then MAT leave doesn't start until 27th June!
My A/L means I can finish really early. I'll be nearly 34 weeks.

mrssunshinexxx · 23/04/2020 16:12

@MsMiaWallace same as you I finish on 15th may at 35 weeks wish I could stay longer now under the circumstances I originally asked for that date as I thought it would be nice to really enjoy a few weeks to myself and to catch up with friend individually and batch cook etc worried I'm gunna be really bored now. Hopefully she comes at 37 weeks Grin my official mat leave starts on 15th June and my due date is 20th x

Busylizzie85 · 23/04/2020 16:20

@MsMiaWallace I was meant to start on the 22nd of May trying to leave it as long as possible to have more time after baby is born. I have been in self isolation since 17th of March and I can't work from home so feels like Mat leave already, thankfully work have been very good and are still paying me normally I assume my maternity will just kick in from the date I discussed originally.

LillianFullStop · 23/04/2020 16:49

@Gigitree I normally have drier skin this time of year so I'm also slathering with creams to avoid it itching skin. My hands are crazy dry with all the hand washing though!

I start mat leave 1-Jun at 39w so hope I make it to my ELCS date!

@mrssunshinexxx I agree normally it would have been nice to start well before baby comes to do some shopping, meet with friends etc but now I'm glad I didn't choose to do it too early as I might just get bored!

umabb · 23/04/2020 16:50

@Gigitree no dandruff but I have really dry elbows - never had that before , and generally drier skin for sure. Usually at this time of the year I'd not need body moisturiser but I've been using E45 cream (for the itchiness too!) 🤪
