LilyLoo ? maybe pop into pharmacy and ask chemist??

Awen ? glad you are feeling better today hope you have nice relaxing weekend.

Hello to everyone else hope you are all having nice weekend xxxx

nicky6 · 29/09/2007 23:34

Zovirax is fine so are the compeed pads you just cant use the tablet zovirax - I have had cold sore for almost the last 4 months give or take a few says so trust me its ok to use i checked at 2 chemists.

Had scan yesterday and was all very good - dh v v nervous, but baby head very low with bum across and legs up under my ribs where all the scar tissue from ops is so hence lots of pain - scar tissue stretching (or not as the case may be) being helped along with a few well placed kicks.

Very sweet though baby sleeping with hand on its head exactly same way as dh does. ANyway everything very low risk and fine and dandy so thats it on the scan front until birth!!!!!!!!!! Also had the internal scan and pretty much no chance of it coming early etc, dh v relieved. Cute pictures - dh said after this is really going to happen isnt it? sweet but duh...

Dont know people are doing for nursery furniture - but it all seems quite expensive saw some nice winnie the pooh and piglet stuff but £850 so if anyone interested there is a website called fiftyone percent store ( american) and they sell loads of kids transfer stickers to put on walls and furniture that you can just peel off again and much mcuh cheaper thanything similar here if anyone interested i'll find the site.

Beller me life long gooner too. Particularly like the kids ( which are of course now our first team)

Cazzybaby · 30/09/2007 10:00

Nicky - I will have to have a look at that website, we are in rented house so cannot start painting all over the walls in the Nursery, I was thinking of stickers as a substitute!

MamaMaiasaura · 30/09/2007 15:07

nicky - I got nursery funiture for £300 new from argos. Includes cotbed, dresser/changer unit and wardrobe. Solid wood.

Was awake with ds at 2.30am again. His earache was bad, as i was making up his hot water bottle i reflectedthat he is getting mein practice for the next one. Had tears over eating and drinking because it hurts to much, this is so unlike him. Temp of 37.8 so guess anti biotics are still to kick in. Poor ds

Got exp round again with ds, feels vey wierd him being here. Nice for ds but i feel a bit uncomfortable, asp as heis sat in middle of sofa (we only have a giant sofa and I am perched at one end on here (desperately tryng not to fart too ).

Spoke to dp today, missing him loads (esp as I can fart infront of him without embarassment . )

MomBanks · 30/09/2007 20:40

Hi everyone,
I've been reading along with you for awhile - finally getting around to posting something myself!

Not that I have anything particularly special to say today, just thought I'd introduce myself.....
I'm due January 4th, 1st time mom, American living in NW London with my Australian husband. Baby will have one mixed-up accent that's for sure.

Just spent a nice quiet weekend with pregnancy yoga and relaxing at home. Relaxing except for 1 miserable hour at Brent Cross to find maternity tights.....wandered into the nursery section at John Lewis just for a look and nearly keeled over from all the screeching kiddies in there - thats me in a few months!!!!

gingeme · 30/09/2007 21:31

Good evening ladies and welcome MomBanks. Glad your scan went well nicky6. Lol at baby sleeping with hand behind head like dh
Well ds3 was a real star yesterday. He was eating toast about 20 mins after the op and drinking squash. He didnt sleep all day and kept all the other children entertained on the ward. The op was supposed to take about 45 mins but was an hour and half in the end because his adenoids bled quite badly. Dh stayed with him last night in the hospital and said ds slept quite well except a couple of times when he needed pain relief. He came home about 10am and has been a bit miserable because his hand is sore where the drip went in. H e had a 4 hour sleep on my bed this afternoon and was a bit chirpier after that. Tried a bit of dinner this evening and had a yohurt which he seemed happy with.
Trouble is dh is on nights this week,10pm-6am and he hasnt had much sleep the past couple of nights so I hope hes ok.
Well thats about it. Awen hows your ds now?

mum2bejan · 30/09/2007 21:46

Can I pop in and say 'Hello'? I am expecting my first baby Jan 24th, and we found out a couple of weeks ago we're having a boy.

MamaMaiasaura · 30/09/2007 21:47

Gingeme - glad you son is recovering well. Well done to him for eating so well too Was to see his adeniods bled. Poor lad. I smiled when i saw he was entertaining everyone, there was a little girl like that on ds's ward.

I am at the point of calling dr out again tomorrow. Ds not been eating/drinking without lots of nagging and then been getting tears because it hurts his throat and ears. He is running temp still. His right ear in particular very sore and waking him up at night. He also had spontanuous nosebleed today. His dad has been over this weekend and also thinks should get dr out tomorrow if it conitnues. Been woken at 2-3am by ds who is distressed because of ear pain. SOrry to go on about it all. Just feel quite helpless.

gingeme · 30/09/2007 21:55

Awen what pain relief is he having? ds was sent home with Calpol and Childrens Nurofen and anti biotics. Do you think he might need something a little stronger?

MamaMaiasaura · 30/09/2007 21:59

He was on paracetamol, ibuprofen and also codiene in hosp. Sent home with paracetamol & ibuprofen and was prescribed amoxicillin 27th Sept, started it the 28th. He is having max doses of pain relief. It might be that i just need to give the anti-b more of a chance but he has had 3 days of it and I would have thought 5 days post op he would be improved.

gingeme · 30/09/2007 22:09

Yeah my ds was given amoxicillin with the pain relief. I would call the doc out tommorrow if I were you something doesnt sound right to me. Poor love
Well Im off to bed now. I hope you both have a peaceful night.
Keep us posted. xx

MamaMaiasaura · 30/09/2007 22:14

I am off to bed pretty soon too. Hope you and ds also have a restful night. Sounds like he was a very brave boy.

Take care xxx

beller · 01/10/2007 07:50

Morning all!

Susiemj I thought i had Sm the other day n boobs. but on closer inspection , they were veins hahaha

Lillyloo - I think zovirax is fine, remember someone else using it? also nail varnish remover on a Q tip is really good, hurts, but clears them up much quicker!

Gingme - How is ds today? Glad to hear the op went well, apart fromt he extended bleeding! xx

Nicky6 - Was good to watch the gooner, dont think ill get to see them so much now somehow! Even had padded seats int he directors box bit....back still sore at the end though... Glad your scan went well ! xx

Awen - hehe made me laug with mental pic of you perched on your own sofa trying not to fart Hope ds is feeling better today?

Mombanks - Welcome!! Ive been doing Yoga in class and at home too...love it!

mum2behan - welcome!!

Anyone else really struggling to sleep? I get to sleep ok, then just wake up...hasnt been so much for the loo last couple of nights..just waking up..babyb kicking like mad..and not getting back to sleep...going to have to give up earlys soon, 5 0 clock is obscene anyway..will only give me an extra 45 mins in bed...but worth i think
Hope you are all well xxxxxxx

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 07:52

Morning ladies,

Hope you all had a good weekend, altho Awen you sound so stressed, I think you should just get the doctor out to put your mind at rest, you dont need this and neither does your poor DS. Gingeme - glad DS3 op went well, the bleeding sounds scary but he seems to be recovering well.

Susiemj - I have some stretchmarks on the underside of my belly but that seems to be the only place at the moment altho I think the breast ones are coming as I keep scratching.

Nicky6 - Cazzy - I remember looking at the Winnie the Pooh stuff for DS1 but just couldnt justify the money, not so much for the cot, but the wardrobe was something like £450 In the end we went to babiesrus and got a deal with cot and dresser for about £120 and then used posters, stickers and bedding to make up the nursery.

Welcome to the newbies.

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 07:54

Morning Beller....

I wake up every day without fail at about 4 am and doze on and off, but that is when DH snoring gets to me most so cant get back to sleep. Just cant get comfy at all.

45 mins is 45 mins - at this point in time it all counts.

Naetha · 01/10/2007 08:54

Morning all

Had an activity laden night's...rest - it wasn't enough to call it sleep!!

I went to sleep at 11pm, 3/4 of an hour later I woke up from a very deep sleep desperate for the loo - I was convinced it must have been about 2/3am, and was disappointed to find out it wasn't even midnight yet!!

I then slept sporadically for another couple of hours, but my nose is all bunged up at the moment so I was snoring like a foghorn so DH kept on prodding me! I then woke up a short time later on my back, but I couldn't move at all!! Beanie had obviously been lying in that way that cuts off the blood supply to your lower body and I was pretty much paralysed from the waist down. Unfortunately, trying to turn over when you're half paralysed is really difficult so had to wake DH up to help me turn over - oh the dignity!!

An hour later I then woke up with terrible cramps in both calves, and woke DH up (again!) with my "ow ow ow ow ow ow ow that HURTS!!!!". I went back to sleep after going to the loo the third time, only to be woken up by the alarm 20 minutes later

I guess that's it - no more proper night's sleep for about 4 years!!

Other than that, weekend was fairly uneventful, although we gave in and went to Ikea on Friday night (SO much better than going on a weekend) and bought two CD racks, a coffee table and a bookcase - we moved into our new house 6 months ago, and this is the first proper furniture we've bought!! DH put them all together and fitted our new shower (old one exploded) while I..er..helped! Well, I made him tea!

We're getting there on sorting out the spare room / nursery - need to clear the rest of the junk out, then completely redecorate it.

We also broke our "duck" as well - we saw some Pampers Newborn nappies on special offer in Morrisons and bought them . I don't know how many we're going to need, but 70 sounded like a good place to start! That'll probably last us about three days, but at least we've made a start

Sorry to hear about DS's going to have their tonsils out - doesn't sound like fun at all - hopefully they'll both be on the mend soon

Also welcome to the new people, make yourself at home

Right, time for me to go and pretend to do some work, see you all later!

MotherofZ · 01/10/2007 08:59

Morning all!

Welcome to all newbies and hope your DS is little better today Awen!

I wake up everyday at 4am, well actuallly DD gets me up at that time - she's still in the habbit of having a feed in the morning.

Feeling hungry, skipped breakfast so off to have a some fruit loaf (not the whole one, just a couple of slices!)

OP posts:
mixedmama · 01/10/2007 09:04

I had fruti loaf this morning mmm. About to make a cuppa tea and eat some biccies, bought a whole pack from home...

MotherofZ · 01/10/2007 09:08

Fruit loaf is lovely....

sabinar · 01/10/2007 09:33

Good morning everyone Sounds like a busy weekend! I had to work on Saturday but had a fairly restful Sunday. We went to a Pregnancy Massage Class which was great... for me at least! DH promises that he'll keep in practice over the next few months... I hope he does, he's pretty good and it really does help relax, especially around the hip area (TMI?)

Bleaker news is that I've discovered that I can no longer drink tea. I've been allowing myself a cup or two of proper caffeinated tea until now, but it's become increasingly obvious that it's responsible for the hideous reflux I get from time to time... so I'm going to have to give it up for the next few months... I think I"m going to miss it more than sushi. Who'd have thought. Peppermint tea is good, but really not the same at all.

I am ridiculously busy with work for the next fortnight but looking forward to getting away for a week later in the month - we're off to Barcelona for my birthday. Can't wait! Seems like the only way I can get a day off these days is to leave the country!

lol. better get used to it I guess - hearing you all coping with all this AND a DS or DD puts things into perspective, that's for sure!

Well, I hope you have a good and productive day!

karenLouise · 01/10/2007 09:59

Morning everyone,

had a fairly busy weekend DP is really getting into buying for LO and gets quite disappointed if we go into a baby shop and come out empty handed!! Had a frustrating week buggy shopping last week - we're discovering that hardly any pushchairs fit in the back of a Mazda 2 plus the rear seat belts are quite short leaving us with limited choice over a car seat too although one local shop did show us a Britax rock a tot seat which fits and only costs £46 as it is being discontinued - they're changing thefabric and putting the price up!!

A good nights sleep is fast becoming a distant memory. I seem to have one reasonable night followed by a really restless one at the moment. And even on a good night I seem to be awake from 5am. I took a day off on friday because I really wasn't functioning I had had no sleep and woke up with a pounding headache and couldn't face a day infront of the computer. My boss is really understanding and tends to worry about me if I have time off sick, so then I end up reassuring her that I'm ok and then it almost looks like I took the day off for no reason IYSWIM. Anyway I'd best get on and catch up with what I missed on Friday - I also need to talk through what I do with a colleague who may be interested in covering my Mat leave - see they're even planning ahead, but I suupose it is only 2 and a half months now until I finish.

Neuro · 01/10/2007 10:15

Hi all

I am mostly lurking at the mo as nothing to say except i can't sleep at night grrrrrrrrr and my itchy ribs are driving me crackers! Apparently it is to do with salt being deposited outside of the skin and in pregnancy it often happens in rib area. Weird.

zzzzzzzzzzzzz too tired and it's only 10.15am

mum2bejan · 01/10/2007 10:47

I have really struggled to get a decent nights sleep in the last few weeks, and last night was the pits! Woke up every hour without fail for no apparent reason, so am well and truly knackered this morning.
Am I the only one that looks in the mirror and still gets a shock when I see a pregnant woman looking back at me??
I was handed the 'family moses basket' yesterday as well and I still cannot believe that in January my very own baby will be in there! In spite of the scans, the baby moving around and all the other symptoms I have it all seems unreal still.

Amani · 01/10/2007 10:53

Feeling inspired by someone on the Dec thread!!
Been wanting to change my name for a while as I know a few people who pop onto mumsnet and don't want them to figure out who I am!! Plus want to be defined a bit more than just a mother, so have chosen...Amani...which is a Middle Eastern and it mean 'optimist/positive'.
Am 'MotherofZ' by the way

Cazzybaby · 01/10/2007 10:56

Hello Everyone

Awen and Gingme - How are DS?s today?

Hi to mum2bejan and Mombanks

Beller ? with you on the not sleeping front, I get myself all worked up cos wake up then can?t get comfy, then wake up DP. I Might try investing in some relaxing music of some kind to listen top when I wake up.

Mixedmama ? I am also with you on the snoring front! I have now resorted to violence to make him stop

Naethea ? Lol at your eventful nights sleep, sounds like everyone is suffering with sleepless nights at the moment!

Sabinar ? really jealous that you are going to Barcalona, I would love to go!

Hi to everyone else hope you are all well and had nice weekends!
I Bought a bottle sterilisor unit from Tesco?s this weekend it was half price! I was very impressed came also with 3 baby bottles. It was weird buying it as so far all we have are a few little outfits, made things seem even more real!
